Syria’s new top diplomat in Qatar in bid to build ties

The new Syrian foreign minister met Qatar’s prime minister and top diplomat. Assad Shaibani called on the US to lift Assad-era sanctions on Syria, as the new Islamist rulers strive to restart the economy.
