  • At least 46 children dead amid measles outbreak as virus spreads globally

Public health officials are warning of measles exposure as the disease spreads on a global scale.

At least 46 children have died in Bangladesh, with about 684 measles cases confirmed in the country since late January, according to Reuters.

Government officials recently announced deaths linked to measles after laboratory testing of 33 samples.

LARGEST MEASLES OUTBREAK IN RECENT HISTORY REPORTED ON SOUTHWESTERN FLORIDA COLLEGE CAMPUS

« Of the tested samples, 15 deaths have been directly linked to measles infection, » said Health Services Division Secretary Kamruzzaman Chowdhury in a statement.

Bangladesh has modified its vaccine schedule after health officials found a significant share of measles cases were occurring in infants younger than 9 months, who are not yet eligible for routine vaccination, according to local reports.

World Health Organization guidance recommends that children receive two doses of the measles, usually given at 9 months of age in countries where measles is common and at 12-15 months in other countries. The second dose should usually be administered at 15-18 months.

In the U.S., as of March 26, 1,575 confirmed measles cases had been reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There have been 16 new outbreaks reported this year, with 94% of confirmed cases deemed outbreak-associated, per the CDC.

The agency attributes the spike in measles activity to a trend of lower « herd immunity » in communities — meaning vaccination rates have fallen below the roughly 95% threshold needed to prevent outbreaks.

« U.S. national MMR coverage among kindergartners has decreased and is now below the 95% coverage target, » the CDC states on its website.

Measles symptoms include a high fever, cough, runny nose, watery and red eyes, and a rash that usually appears between three and five days after symptoms start, according to medical sources.

  • Son of late congressman charged after alleged sexual messages and payments to teen

The son of one of the longest serving Republicans in Congress faces child pornography and other serious charges after allegedly engaging in inappropriate conduct with a 15-year-old girl in Florida.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said 38-year-old Patrick Rainey Young, son of the late Rep. Bill Young, has been charged with single counts of soliciting a child for unlawful sexual conduct using an electronic device and harmful communication to a minor, as well as two counts of possession of child pornography.

The sheriff’s Crimes Against Children Unit received information on Jan. 8, 2026, that a 38-year-old man and 15-year-old girl had engaged in inappropriate conduct. The man was later identified as Young.

According to police, Young met the girl while working the scoreboard at his son’s baseball game at Seminole High School.

He then allegedly made sexual comments about the victim’s body and gave her alcohol and nicotine, the sheriff’s office said.

After the initial interaction, Young and the victim allegedly continued their relationship at baseball games, and through Instagram messages, where the two discussed sexual favors and nude photos in exchange for money.

Detectives learned during the investigation that Young allegedly gave the girl $300 after he received a nude photo of her. Additionally, the girl was given food in exchange for nude photos, the sheriff’s office alleged.

Young was ultimately arrested and transported to the Pinellas County Jail, where he remains in custody on $10,000 bond – $5,000 for each possession of child pornography charge.

Young’s father, Bill Young, died in 2013 at the age of 82. Up until that point, he was the longest-tenured Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives and served as the longtime top appropriator for the defense industry.

He served in the House for 42 years and 288 days, beginning in 1971 and ending at his death.

His record as the longest-serving Republican in the House was later surpassed by Rep. Don Young of Alaska.

  • Migrant charged in Gilgo Beach throat slashing, fueling serial killer copycat fears

New York prosecutors have charged a Venezuelan man with attempted murder in a throat-slashing attempt that experts warn could be a potential copycat attempt ahead of an expected guilty plea from the suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer.

« This defendant allegedly drove a man that he knew to a remote beach and attacked him from behind with a knife, » Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said in a statement.

« The evidence recovered from his vehicle raises serious questions about what he intended that night. »

ACCUSED GILGO BEACH SERIAL KILLER REX HEUERMANN EXPECTED TO PELAD GUILTY IN MURDER CASE: REPORTS

Ruben Guanipa Ramirez, 26, is accused of smothering an unidentified male victim’s mouth with a rag before stabbing him from behind on the left side and attempting to slash his throat.

Police later searched Ramirez’s car, a 2024 Lexus NX250, and allegedly found multiple knives, rope, duct tape, blankets, plastic drop cloths, a « large-wheeled bag, » gloves and a box cutter.

Ramirez’s immigration status was not immediately clear. He’s being held at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead — the same facility housing Gilgo Beach suspect Rex Heuermann, 62.

While authorities have not publicly spoken of any connection between the crimes, observers like retired NYPD sergeant Joseph Giacalone, former head of the NYPD’s Bronx Cold Case Unit, see alarming similarities.

« Was this a copycat crime… related to what is happening with Rex Heuermann in the news? » said Giacalone, who has been following the Gilgo case for years.

« They need to take a long hard look at this guy. »

He said the items recovered from Ramirez’s car were particularly concerning, noting Heuermann’s alleged victims were found bound with duct tape and wrapped in burlap or plastic.

    Some were dismembered.

Prior to the attack in the Gilgo Beach parking lot, Ramirez allegedly drove the victim to a pool hall in Nassau County and then Jones Beach, another waterfront nearby — where Heuermann once worked on the summer beach patrol.

« During the altercation, the victim sustained defensive wounds to his hands but was able to wrestle the knife away from Ramirez, » Tierney’s office said in a statement.

The victim managed to seize control of Ramirez’s car, call 911 and drive himself to a friend’s apartment in Queens, where the NYPD met up with him and he received medical treatment.

Ramirez is being held on $200,000 cash bail, $500,000 bond or $2 million partially secured bond.

He’s due back in court on April 29 and faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge of attempted murder.

  • Arizona girl last seen walking to stable before vanishing found alive decades later, authorities say

An Arizona girl who vanished at age 13 under what authorities once called « suspicious circumstances » has been found alive more than three decades later — closing a decades-old cold case while raising new questions about where she’s been and what really happened.

The Gila County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that Christina « Tina » Marie Plante, who disappeared from Star Valley, Arizona, in 1994, has been located and identified after 32 years. Authorities say she is alive and her case is now officially resolved.

But beyond that, investigators are saying very little.

According to the original missing person bulletin, Plante was last seen around 12:30 p.m. on May 15, 1994, leaving her home on Moonlight Drive in Star Valley on foot. She told others she was heading to a nearby stable where her horse was kept, but she never arrived.

At the time, authorities classified her case as « missing/endangered » under suspicious circumstances, signaling concern that she may have been in danger or the victim of foul play.

She was described as having blue eyes and dark blonde hair and was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, multicolored shorts, and black tennis shoes.

Despite extensive searches involving law enforcement, volunteers and regional resources, no viable leads emerged.

For years, Plante’s case remained open, periodically reviewed by investigators and preserved in national missing persons databases.

While the outcome is rare and remarkable, officials are withholding nearly all details about what happened during the decades she was missing. The sheriff’s office has not said where Plante has been since 1994, whether her disappearance involved a crime, or how investigators ultimately located her.

« Out of respect for Christina’s privacy and well-being, additional details will not be released at this time, » the agency said.

Authorities emphasized that the case’s resolution underscores the importance of cold case investigations and evolving technology in generating new leads, even decades later. Officials are encouraging anyone with information about other unresolved cases to come forward.

  • Ex-NYPD sergeant says jury ‘absolutely missed the mark’ after cop killer dodges murder charge

A former NYPD sergeant slammed a jury’s decision in the killing of officer Jonathan Diller, saying they « absolutely missed the mark » by rejecting a first-degree murder charge for the gunman, despite evidence he believes showed clear intent.

« When you intentionally bring an illegal firearm onto a street, you hold it in your hand, and you pull a trigger, you know the consequences… » Joseph Imperatrice told « Fox & Friends First » on Thursday.

« For this jury to turn around and not think for one second that that was murder, knowing these officers were identified, knowing there were several officers in uniform that were identifiable on the scene, that’s intentional, and they absolutely missed the mark here, » he added.

Diller, an NYPD detective, was shot and killed in March 2024 during a routine traffic stop in Queens.

NYPD OFFICER JONATHAN DILLER’S WIDOW WEEPS AS SEA OF BLUE FILLS COURTROOM IN ACCUSED COP KILLER’S MURDER TRIAL

Guy Rivera, the man accused of the fatal shooting, was convicted Wednesday of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree for attempting to shoot an NYPD sergeant who also responded to the scene and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.

He was acquitted of murder in the first degree, however.

Fox News contributor and criminal defense attorney Josh Ritter said the verdict appears « inconsistent, » pointing to a disconnect between the acquittal on the top murder charge and the conviction for attempted murder of a second officer at the scene.

SUSPECT ACCUSED OF KILLING NYPD’S JONATHAN DILLER ‘LOOKS LIKE HE’S SMILING’ IN BODYCAM VIDEO: TESTIMONY

« We’re struggling with the idea of intent because the conviction on attempted murder for the other officer, that’s a specific intent crime, meaning you had to have intended to kill that person in order to commit attempted murder, » he said Thursday on « Fox & Friends. »

« You attempted to kill the one officer, but then they struggled with intent on the first-degree charge against the officer that actually was killed… it does seem as though there was some misunderstanding as far as the law goes. It does appear to be inconsistent. »

Imperatrice said the verdict reflects broader challenges law enforcement officers face with repeat offenders and the criminal justice system.

« It’s bad enough that law enforcement has to go against the grain every day and fight the politicians and the nonsense laws, » Imperatrice said.

« We shouldn’t have to worry that a jury clear as day that sees a guy with a rap sheet a mile long that’s been out already on previous gun charges pulls a trigger intentionally and kills one of our own. These officers shouldn’t have to worry about that. This should have been life in prison at best, but in my personal opinion, [if] you kill a police officer, it should be death. »

  • Senate passes bill to fund most of DHS after House GOP caves

The 48-day Department of Homeland Security shutdown is one step closer to ending after the Senate moved to fund most of the department Thursday morning.

The Senate agreed via voice vote to send a bipartisan deal funding the whole department except for President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement and border security efforts to the House for consideration.

The chamber is not expected to vote on the legislation until House lawmakers return to Washington on April 13.

The Senate vote follows GOP leaders endorsing a two-track approach to funding DHS on Wednesday, with President Trump giving lawmakers a hard deadline to end the record-breaking funding lapse.

HOUSE CONSERVATIVES RAGE AGAINST SENATE DHS SHUTDOWN DEAL

The Senate bill accomplishes the first phase of the plan by working with Democrats to fund as much of DHS as possible on a bipartisan basis. However, it would zero out funding for ICE and much of the Border Patrol, save for $11 billion in customs funding going to the agency. Additionally, $10 billion teed up for ICE won’t be funded under the measure.

As for ICE and the Border Patrol, Republicans have said they will seek three full years of funding for both of these agencies in a party-line budget reconciliation package that will bypass Democrats’ opposition. Trump says he wants the forthcoming bill on his desk by June 1.

« We are going to work as fast, and as focused, as possible to replenish funding for our Border and ICE Agents, and the Radical Left Democrats won’t be able to stop us, » Trump wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.

The Senate bill’s passage on Thursday was a déjà vu moment for Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., who helped steer the same measure through the upper chamber last week.

But House GOP leadership sharply rejected it, calling the measure’s exclusion of ICE and CBP money a « crap sandwich » and warning about the risks of funding those entities using the budget reconciliation process. The chamber then put forward a rival proposal that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., made clear was « dead on arrival » in the Senate.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., appeared to relent Wednesday after Trump issued a statement outlining an end to the shutdown that appeared to side with Thune’s two-part approach to funding the department.

GOP INFIGHTING, DEMOCRATS’ UNMET DEMANDS AND A CLEAR WINDFALL: WHO’S WINNING AND LOSING THE DHS SHUTDOWN

As the DHS shutdown drags on, Trump and congressional Republicans are gambling that budget reconciliation will be the way to fund immigration enforcement for several years to come. Some Republicans have floated funding ICE not just through Trump’s term, but for up to a decade.

The GOP used the same process to fund ICE last year, teeing up $75 billion for enforcement operations for the next four fiscal years.

But the party-line process comes with a host of challenges that could test Republican unity in an election year.

GOP lawmakers will have to identify spending cuts to pay for it. When Republicans used the process to pass Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act in July 2025, lawmakers nearly stumbled at the finish line over disagreements on cuts to federal Medicaid spending and food assistance programs.

Without a looming deadline like the expiration of Trump’s 2017 tax cuts that Republicans extended in July 2025 through the « big, beautiful bill, » some GOP lawmakers have voiced concern that the party will stay unified.

Republicans have proposed adding other issues into the reconciliation mix, including supplemental funding for the Iran war, affordability measures, the president’s tariff regime and pieces of the election integrity-focused SAVE America Act.

The budget reconciliation process allows a party with control of the White House and both chambers of Congress to pass tax and spending priorities with a simple majority threshold, though the process is governed by stringent requirements for what is eligible to be included.

Punting ICE and CBP money to a future spending bill could also negatively affect support staff employed by both agencies who have not been paid during the seven-week shutdown.

Democrats have repeatedly blocked funding for ICE and the Border Patrol in the Senate since the beginning of the shutdown in mid-February. Though none of their proposals to reform immigration enforcement have been adopted, Democratic leaders claimed victory on Wednesday.

« Throughout this fight, Senate Democrats never wavered, » Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said Wednesday. « We were clear from the start: fund critical security, protect Americans, and no blank check for reckless ICE and Border Patrol enforcement.

« We were united, held the line, and refused to let Republican chaos win. »

The Senate deal funding most of DHS could still face roadblocks in the House. A handful of conservatives have already said they will vote « no » while using the same messaging employed by House GOP leadership to oppose the bill last week.

« Let’s make this simple: caving to Democrats and not paying CBP and ICE is agreeing to defund Law Enforcement and leaving our borders wide open again, » Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., wrote on social media Wednesday. « If that’s the vote, I’m a NO. »

  • JONATHAN TURLEY: Justice Jackson’s ‘Chiles’ dissent reveals narrow view of the First Amendment

Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is again warning of a growing threat to the nation. In her lone dissent Tuesday in Chiles v. Salazar, Jackson observed that « to be completely frank, no one knows what will happen now. »

The ominous tone stemmed from the fact that free speech had prevailed over state-imposed orthodoxy in a Colorado case. Eight justices, including her two liberal colleagues, ruled that Colorado could not prevent licensed counselors from « any practice or treatment » that « attempts or purports to change » a minor’s sexual orientation or gender identity.

The win for free speech was catastrophic for Jackson and many on the left. Allowing counselors to discuss the causes and basis for sexual orientation changes, Jackson maintained, would « open a can of worms. » It would be far better for the majority to simply silence such dissenting voices in the name of science.

COLORADO TRIED TO SILENCE ME FOR HELPING GENDER-CONFUSED KIDS. THE SUPREME COURT JUST RULED 8-1 IN MY FAVOR

The dissent in Chiles is only the latest example of the chilling jurisprudence of Justice Jackson, including a pronounced dismissal of free speech values. Consider the holding of her colleagues that Jackson finds so horrific.

Justice Neil Gorsuch wrote that the First Amendment « reflects … a judgment that every American possesses an inalienable right to think and speak freely, and a faith in the free marketplace of ideas as the best means for discovering truth … any law that suppresses speech based on viewpoint represents an ‘egregious’ assault on both of those commitments. »

    What a nightmare.

Instead, Jackson would have declared the ban on anything deemed « conversion therapy » to be « conduct, » not speech. It is that easy. You simply impose an orthodoxy and then treat any dissenters as being regulated for their conduct, not their viewpoints.

Justice Elena Kagan could not withhold her frustration with her colleague, noting that « [b]ecause the State has suppressed one side of a debate, while aiding the other, the constitutional issue is straightforward. » She added that Jackson’s view « rests on reimagining—and in that way collapsing—the well-settled distinction between viewpoint-based and other content-based speech restrictions. »

Other countries have embraced Jackson’s permissive approach to speech curtailment. Recently, Malta failed to convict a man who was facing five months in prison for merely discussing his own abandonment of homosexuality due to a religious conversion.

Of course, we just went through a pandemic when censorship and orthodoxy were dressed up as science. Leading scientific figures were canceled and harassed. That was the case with Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, who co-authored the Great Barrington Declaration and was a vocal critic of COVID-19 policies.

Bhattacharya was targeted due to his dissenting views on health policy, including opposing wholesale shutdowns of schools and businesses.

JONATHAN TURLEY: EVEN THE WASHINGTON POST ADMITS JACK SMITH WAS WRONG ON FREE SPEECH

He and other scientists were later vindicated. European allies that did not shut down their schools fared far better than we did, including avoiding a national mental health and learning crisis. We simply never had that debate.

He was recently honored with the prestigious « Intellectual Freedom » award from the American Academy of Sciences and Letters. He is also now the 18th director of the National Institutes of Health.

Yet, years ago, the courts, the media, and politicians joined in treating dissenting views as « conspiracy theories. »

JUSTICE JACKSON PRESSES IDAHO LAWYER ON TREATING ‘TRANSGENDER WOMEN DIFFERENT THAN CIS WOMEN’

Some argued that the virus’s origin was likely the Chinese research lab in Wuhan. That position was denounced by the Washington Post as a « debunked » coronavirus « conspiracy theory. » The New York Times Science and Health reporter Apoorva Mandavilli called any mention of the lab theory « racist. »

Federal agencies now support the lab theory as the most likely based on scientific evidence.

Likewise, many questioned the efficacy of those blue surgical masks and supported natural immunity to the virus — the government later recognized both positions.

LAW STUDENTS EAGER TO FIGHT CORROSIVE CAMPUS ‘CANCEL CULTURE’ SPREADING NATIONWIDE

Others questioned the so-called six-foot rule, which shut down many businesses, as unsupported by science.

In congressional testimony, Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) from 1984 to 2022, later admitted that the rule « sort of just appeared » and « wasn’t based on data. »

Yet not only did it result in heavily enforced rules (and meltdowns) in public areas, but the media further ostracized dissenting critics.

PARENTS, NOT BUREAUCRATS, RAISE AMERICA’S CHILDREN AND THE SUPREME COURT AGREES

For years, pundits portrayed those who questioned gender reassignment surgeries and treatments as bigots. Now, leading medical associations and European nations have decided that such procedures should not be generally allowed.

All of it was orthodoxy masquerading as science.

Yet, Justice Jackson sees the protection of dissenting scientific and professional views as a « can of worms » that the courts should avoid in favor of state and associational imposed truths.  She wrote that allowing such opposing views « ultimately risks grave harm to Americans’ health and wellbeing. »

Keep in mind that counselors can still be sued for any harm that they cause due to malpractice or negligence. Indeed, recently in New York, a jury awarded $2 million to Fox Varian, 22, over the double mastectomy performed on her while she was a minor.

State associations can also publish positions on such therapy and seek to convince both professionals and the public on the best practices for children.

None of that was sufficient for Justice Jackson or for the state of Colorado. Ironically, Colorado has now succeeded in dramatically strengthening free speech in its repeated failures to curtail it. The Democratic legislators have made the state arguably the most hostile to free speech in the nation.

Colorado’s Supreme Court sought to bar President Donald Trump from the ballot. Notably, while many of us viewed Trump’s views on the 2020 election to be protected speech, Colorado treated it as conduct and advocacy of insurrection.

It was Colorado that sought to force bakers, photographers, and web designers to produce work in favor of same-sex marriages despite their religious objections.  Each effort was supported by the Tenth Circuit and each failed in spectacular fashion before the Supreme Court.

As many of us celebrate this victory for free speech, these advocates are denouncing the ruling in apocalyptic terms.

What is most chilling is that Jackson is now routinely called the model for new nominees, including the push to pack the Supreme Court with an instant liberal majority.

If so, Jackson’s radical views on constitutional interpretation could be replicated on a newly packed Supreme Court. To paraphrase the Chiles decision, « to be completely frank, we know exactly what will happen then. »

  • NYPD cop’s killer convicted of manslaughter, not guilty of murder after split jury ordered to deliberate more

The man accused of fatally shooting NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller during a traffic stop in Queens two years ago was found not guilty of first-degree murder, but guilty of manslaughter and other charges.

Guy Rivera was convicted Wednesday of aggravated manslaughter in the first degree, attempted murder in the first degree for attempting to shoot a NYPD sergeant who also responded to the scene and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. He was acquitted of murder in the first degree.

Earlier on Wednesday, the jury said it had reached a verdict but were sent back for further deliberations after one juror told the court the decision was not unanimous.

The foreman told the judge at the time that they had reached a not-guilty verdict on the first-degree murder charge but found Rivera guilty of the rest of the charges against him. But when the court clerk polled the jurors one by one to confirm they agreed with the verdict, juror No. 5 said they disagreed, according to the New York Post.

« As I told you jurors, your verdict must be unanimous. Please go back in and deliberate, » Judge Michael Aloise told the jury, the outlet reported.

A short time later, a couple of notes were sent in from the jury — one asking how many days they would have to deliberate if they were unable to reach a verdict that day and another in which one juror said she needed to make a phone call to cancel an appointment.

« There is no time limit, continue deliberating, » the judge told them.

Later on Wednesday, the jury came back and agreed on the verdict.

Authorities said Diller and his partner, Sergeant Sasha Rosen, stopped a vehicle illegally parked outside a cell phone store in Far Rockaway in March 2024. Prosecutors said Rivera then shot and killed Diller after being ordered to step out of the vehicle.

After shooting Diller, Rivera pointed his gun at Rosen’s chest and pulled the trigger, but the gun jammed, prosecutors said. Diller wrestled the gun away from his hand before he collapsed on the street from his injuries.

Rivera was also shot twice during the encounter.

Diller was scheduled to be off duty the day of the killing. He was at a park with his wife and young son when he was called in.

He was also a dedicated member of the New York City Police Department who put on a uniform every day to protect our city. »

« This crime stole the life of a dutiful officer and a family man and endangered the life of a devoted NYPD sergeant, » the statement added. « We continue to stand in solidarity with Detective Diller’s loved ones, Sergeant Sasha Rosen and all the brave men and women who protect our city. »

The individuals fled the scene on the moped. The NYPD said one person of interest is in custody, while a manhunt is underway for the second suspect as police ask for the public’s help identifying those involved.

The shooting was believed to be gang-related, and the child was an unintended victim, according to police.

« There are no words that can mend the heartbreak this family is feeling right now, » New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani said during a news conference. « A life that had barely begun was taken in an instant. »

The shooting took place around 1:20 p.m. on a street corner where several adults and children were gathered. Police said there were no other injuries connected to the shooting.

HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE PARALYZED AFTER TRYING TO SAVE PAL DURING LATE-NIGHT BRAWL THAT ENDED IN GUNFIRE: REPORT

Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the moped sped off after the shooting but crashed into an oncoming car two blocks away. Both riders fell off the vehicle, and the impact caused the passenger to lose both his shoes, she added.

One of the men on the moped was injured and taken to the hospital and is in police custody in connection with an unrelated investigation, police said. Investigators believe the man fits the description of the alleged shooter based on his clothing and appearance.

The other man fled and has not been located by police as of Wednesday evening.

MAN FOUND NOT GUILTY BY REASON OF INSANITY IN KILLING OF PREGNANT SEATTLE WOMAN, UNBORN CHILD

No gun has been recovered from the scene, but two shell casings were found, police said.

« This is a terrible day in our city, a tragedy that truly shocks the conscious, » Tisch said at the news conference. « As a mother, I cannot imagine the pain that this family is feeling or the grief that they now carry with them. It is unspeakable. »

Investigators reviewed neighborhood security cameras and tracked the moped’s movement following the shooting, Tisch said.

Mamdani said Wednesday’s homicide is a reminder that more work needs to be done to reduce gun violence.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit tips online or on X @NYPDTips.

  • Billy Porter blames Trump as jobs dry up after ‘performative wokeness’ wave

Actor Billy Porter warned Saturday that the wave of « performative wokeness » may have come to an end as many arts jobs have dried up with it.

The Emmy-winning actor, known for appearing as a gender-neutral Fairy Godmother in « Cinderella, » spoke to Rev. Al Sharpton on MS NOW about the shifting landscape of the entertainment industry.

« As a Black, gay, out artist, I caught the wave of what we now know as performative wokeness, » Porter said on « PoliticsNation. » « I caught the wave of being in the center of that very progressive space. And I crashed through glass ceilings that were concrete. »

DEI AND WOKE IDEOLOGY ARE ON LIFE SUPPORT UNDER TRUMP’S RETURN TO DC, BUT COULD COME ROARING BACK WITH REBRAND

Porter also attended a rally outside the Trump-Kennedy Center as part of the « No Kings » demonstrations over the weekend. The venue recently underwent a name change when the Kennedy Center board voted to add President Donald Trump’s name to the performing arts center, drawing criticism from some artists and cultural figures.

Protesters at the event claimed the Trump administration’s policies pose a threat to artists’ First Amendment rights. Porter was joined by other celebrity activists, including Joan Baez and Jane Fonda.

Porter noted that following a peak in progressive projects, he has seen a clear change in the culture and his own career prospects.

There’s not a lot of that going on right now. There’s not a lot of that work going on right now, » he said, urging activists to « stay vigilant. »

  • Artemis II launches astronauts around the moon in first deep space mission since Apollo

The Artemis II crew launched into the history books Wednesday, blasting off aboard NASA’s Orion spacecraft on a mission around the moon — the first crewed journey beyond low-Earth orbit in more than 50 years.

Astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover and Christina Koch of the U.S., and Jeremy Hansen of the Canadian Space Agency, boarded the 322-foot Orion spacecraft at Kennedy Space Center’s Launch Complex 39B on Wednesday afternoon, just hours before launching at 6:35 p.m.

The Artemis II crew is expected to travel around the moon and back, marking the first crewed mission beyond low Earth orbit since 1972.

Although the mission will not land on the lunar surface, it is designed to carry the four-person crew farther from Earth than any crewed mission since the Apollo era.

NASA RACES TO BUILD MOON BASE AS US CHALLENGES CHINA IN NEW SPACE RACE

NASA describes the Orion spacecraft as the most powerful launch system rocket it has ever built.

Standing 322 feet tall, the rocket will send the spacecraft and its crew into deep space for the first time, testing critical systems ahead of proposed future lunar landing missions.

Now that the crew is in space, its members are expected to spend several days in space, including a multi-day journey around the far side of the moon before returning to Earth for a planned splashdown in the Pacific Ocean.

NASA CHIEF VOWS FOUR MOON MISSIONS BEFORE TRUMP’S TERM ENDS IN AMBITIOUS 2028 TIMELINE

NASA intended to launch Artemis II in February, but technical issues discovered during testing forced the agency to push it back. Such issues included fuel and helium leaks that required additional repairs to the Space Launch System rocket.

Artemis II follows the uncrewed Artemis I test flight and is considered a major step toward future missions, including Artemis III, which aims to land astronauts on the moon.

NASA said previously that the Artemis program is intended to support long-term lunar exploration and lay the groundwork for human missions to Mars.

NASA RETURNS HUMANS TO DEEP SPACE AFTER OVER 50 YEARS WITH FEBRUARY ARTEMIS II MOON MISSION

President Donald Trump established the Artemis program during his first term in 2017 as part of a broader push to return American astronauts to the moon.

Hours before the rocket launch, Trump celebrated the Artemis II mission.

« America is going back to the Moon!, » he said. « America doesn’t just compete, we DOMINATE, and the whole World is watching. God bless our incredible Astronauts, God bless NASA, and God bless the Greatest Nation ever to exist, the United States of America! »

House Speaker Mike Johnson also praised the crew and NASA on Wednesday.

« Praying for the safety and success of the Artemis II crew and @NASA as they undertake a mission that will carry humanity farther into space than we have gone in over half a century, » he said. « I had the privilege of hosting these courageous pioneers at the State of the Union earlier this year. Americans are watching proudly as our Golden Age reaches new heights! »

  • Poll position: Where Trump stands among Americans as he faces the nation in primetime

President Donald Trump goes before the nation in prime time on Wednesday evening to deliver what the White House says is « an important update » on the war with Iran.

The president’s address comes amid the month-long attacks by the U.S. and Israel on Iran, which polls indicate are unpopular with many Americans, and a surge in gas prices as a direct result of the fighting have triggered a further slide in Trump’s standing in public opinion surveys.

The political implications are clear: The strikes on Iran and the erosion of the president’s approval ratings are warning signs for the GOP as Republicans ramp up to defend their slim House and Senate majorities in this autumn’s midterm elections.

Trump stood at 41% approval and 59% disapproval in the latest Fox News national poll, which was conducted March 20–23. The president’s negative 18-point margin was up from 14 points in the previous Fox News poll, which was conducted Feb. 28–March 2, as the strikes against Iran began.

FOX NEWS LIVE UPDATES ON THE U.S. WAR WITH IRAN

The president’s approval ratings stood in the upper 30s, with his disapproval in the upper 50s to low 60s, in the most recent national surveys from Reuters/Ipsos, AP/NORC, and Quinnipiac University. A CNN poll conducted March 26–30 and released Wednesday indicated Trump had a 35%-64% approval/disapproval rating.

An average of the most recent national surveys gauging the president’s standing puts Trump just above 40%, with his disapproval in the upper 50s.

WHAT THE LATEST FOX NEWS POLL SHOWS ON THE WAR WITH IRAN

While Trump’s base remains extremely supportive of the president and the war, much of the slippage is coming from within the GOP, specifically those who are considered non-MAGA Republicans.

« I do see in the last couple of surveys an edging down…close to a double-digit movement, » veteran Republican pollster Daron Shaw, who helps run the Fox News Poll with Democrat Chris Anderson, said, pointing to declining support for Trump among non-MAGA Republicans.

Fueling Trump’s decline appears to be the surge in gas prices.

The average price of gasoline in the U.S. topped $4 per gallon on Tuesday, according to national averages from AAA and GasBuddy, for the first time in four years.

FOX BUSINESS: GAS PRICES TOP $4 PER GALLON

The military attacks by the U.S. and Israel have resulted in the deaths of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top officials, and the decimation of the country’s military.

In response, Iran has targeted energy facilities with missile and drone attacks in a number of Persian Gulf nations. It has also made the Strait of Hormuz nearly impassable to commercial shipping, bringing roughly 20% of the world’s oil supply to a halt and sending global fuel prices sharply higher.

That has only exacerbated Trump’s polling woes when it comes to his performance on the economy, amid public dissatisfaction with high prices and the cost of living.

A spotlight on inflation helped fuel sweeping victories by Trump and Republicans in the 2024 elections, when they won back the White House and Senate and successfully defended their slim House majority.

DEMOCRATS TARGET TRUMP, GOP, OVER SURING GAS PRICES

But a laser focus on affordability by Democrats, amid persistent inflation, has fueled a slew of victories and overperformances in 2025’s off-year elections and in special elections in the more than 14 months since Trump returned to the White House.

According to the Fox News poll, 80% of respondents said they were concerned about gas prices, and 86% concerned about inflation and high prices. And the CNN survey spotlighted that the president’s approval rating for handling the economy sank to 31%, Trump’s lowest level ever in their polling.

The White House says the surge in prices is temporary.

« When Operation Epic Fury is complete, gas prices will plummet back to the multiyear lows American drivers enjoyed before these short-term disruptions, » White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement on Tuesday.

Leavitt emphasized that « President Trump remains committed to fully unleashing American energy dominance, lowering costs, and putting more money back in the pockets of hardworking American families. »

OIL HAS SURGED SINCE THE IRAN CONFLICT BEGAN, BUT GAS PRICES MAY NOT BE DONE RISING

The gas price surge is giving Democrats more political ammunition to target the GOP.

« BREAKING: National Gas Prices Skyrocket to $4 Per Gallon, » read the headline from an email Tuesday morning from the Democratic National Committee.

The House Democrats’ campaign committee last week launched digital ads showing prices at the pump rising and an image saying « D.C. Republicans Did That! » Sources say to expect another round of ads on gas prices in the coming weeks.

But Democrats have their own polling problems, as the party’s brand image has cratered to historic lows in a slew of polls over the past year.

Shaw, pointing to the so-called double-haters, voters who disapprove of both Trump and the Democrats, said that group hasn’t « really swung dramatically to the Democrats » as the midterms approach.

Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas emphasized in a recent Fox News Digital interview that, in his opinion, Trump’s « decision to launch this military action is the most consequential decision » of his presidency.

Such perceptions only increase what’s at stake when Trump addresses the nation in prime time.

« The American people want to hear what the off-ramp for the war is and when it will end, » Dan Eberhart, an oil drilling chief executive officer and prominent Republican donor told Fox News Digital.

Eberhart, who is supportive of the president, said: « Trump’s base is with him, but many ordinary Americans feel the war is unnecessary. Tonight is Trump’s opportunity to explain why this war matters to everyday Americans. »

  • Former FBI agent suggests inside job in Massachusetts mansion heist as ‘specific and valuable’ items stolen

After news of a major heist at a $20 million seaside Massachusetts mansion, one former FBI investigator says details provided by the home’s owner could point to an inside job.

« It certainly sounds to me pretty clear that there was some inside information about this property, about the home, and more so about the specific valuables that were taken, » Bill Daly told Fox News Digital, adding that unless certain items were widely and publicly known to be inside the home, investigators will likely hone in on potential suspects who had access to the property.

Daly was an investigator and counterintelligence operative for the federal law enforcement agency.

Beverly, Massachusetts police said the brazen robbery occurred in the early morning hours on Saturday, and that a neighbor called the police at 8:50 a.m., alerting them of the crime. The opulent 27,000-square-foot mansion rests on ocean front property northeast of Boston.

CHILEAN BURGLARY CREW FILMED THEMSELVES DURING $3M SOCAL JEWELRY HEIST, CAUGHT WEARING LOOT: DA

« Through an investigation, Beverly Police determined that an armed suspect had broken into the home and assaulted and tied up the home’s sole occupant before stealing several items from the house, including a vehicle, which the suspect used to leave the scene, » the agency said.

Thomas Swan III owns the luxe property, and told WCVB that the victim was his housekeeper.

« What they did to my housekeeper was just horrendous, » Swan said. « She was held at gunpoint, sometimes dragged by her hair, ultimately tied up and left in the garage. She’s really, really special, but truly traumatized by this, truly traumatized. »

LA MODEL AND INFLUENCER CHARGED WITH USING DATING APPS TO BURGLARIZE HOMES OF ELDERLY, WEALTHY VICTIMS

The housekeeper was pistol-whipped by the suspect during the home invasion, according to NBC Boston.

Swan added that the items taken from the home were « some very specific and valuable things. »

The robber reportedly fled the scene in a Porsche stolen from the home, which was ultimately located by police several miles away in the town of Lynn, Massachusetts.

BURGLARS CAUGHT SPYING ON HOMES WITH HIDDEN CAMOUFLAGED CAMERAS BEFORE STRIKING NEIGHBORHOODS

Daly noted that the tactics used by the suspect differ from those typically found in high-profile targeted robberies involving expensive items.

« It is interesting in this case that [the suspect] appears to have abused, pistol-whipped and perhaps even dragged the housekeeper by her hair, » said Daly. « It’s different from the typical method of operation. If you look at the people who robbed the gems and the art out of the Louvre, they were sleek, they kind of blended in, they didn’t hurt anyone in the process. And you see that often when you talk about high net worth break-ins or you hear about valuables taken from art galleries or from museums. »

« It’s done in a much more low-key fashion. This one was much more brazen, and also seems to be a little bit bordering, kind of a bit thuggish, if you will. »

The Beverly Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police are currently investigating.

Beverly police declined to comment further on Wednesday morning. Fox News Digital reached out to the Massachusetts State police.

Fox News’ Julia Bonavita contributed to this report.

  • When faith becomes political theater, Passover loses its deeper meaning

Every year, people co-opt Passover to push partisan agendas. This year, Jewish human rights groups are already promoting Passover Haggadah materials that urge people to put « social justice on your seder table » and confront « racism, » poverty, authoritarianism, and the climate crisis. Instead of letting the holiday change us, we keep recruiting it to endorse causes.

Predictable columns recast the holiday as a lesson in immigrant rights. Reform Judaism even encourages adding modern political symbols to the seder plate, like olives in solidarity with Palestinians, oranges to symbolize LGBTQ+ inclusion, fair-trade chocolate to represent labor rights, and acorns to honor American Indians.

I’m guilty of this myself. I once wrote a column arguing that including the « wicked child » at the Seder table symbolically rejects cancel culture, and an article arguing that the Exodus story defends free speech because Moses demanded that Pharaoh « let my people go, » and the Israelites merited redemption, in part, by preserving their language under slavery.

But politicizing religion risks overshadowing its personal and spiritual essence.

WHAT IS PASSOVER? EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE HOLIDAY

Progressives do this. Conservatives do too. The right invokes the Bible to oppose abortion and defend traditional family values. The left invokes it to champion social justice.

Pope Leo XIV used a recent address to the diplomatic corps to insist that « every migrant is a person » with « inalienable rights » and to warn governments against using crime and trafficking as excuses to erode migrant dignity. Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, who in the name of God publicly called for mercy toward refugees after President Donald Trump’s inauguration last year, has reentered the immigration fight by appearing at anti-ICE protests in Minnesota in January 2026.

Each side finds its cause, often citing contradictory verses to prove its case. Nehemiah 4:13-14 is used to justify border security by comparing it to defending Jerusalem’s walls, while Leviticus 19:34 is used to advocate for a more permissive immigration policy because it commands kindness toward the foreigner. Genesis 2:15 supports environmental policy because it presents humans as caretakers, while Genesis 1:28 speaks of dominion over nature and can be used to justify exploiting natural resources.

When religion is reduced to political ammunition, it loses meaning. It becomes performative instead of transformative.

Of course, faith can also be a force for moral clarity in public life. The Exodus inspired abolitionists. Rabbis marched for civil rights. But faith should do more than fuel activism. Faith is deeply personal.

It’s like the old ethical teaching about a person who spends his life trying to change the world, his country, his town, and his family before finally realizing he had to change himself first if he wanted to make the greatest impact. Passover makes the same demand. Before we use the holiday to fix the world, it asks us to confront our own demons.

PASSOVER’S LESSONS TODAY MEAN MORE PERSONAL FREEDOM, MUCH LESS ‘ENSLAVEMENT,’ SAYS RABBI — HERE’S WHY

I have felt this tension at my Seder table. Instead of soul-searching, I mindlessly skim the Haggadah, muse about scientific explanations for the splitting of the sea and the ten plagues, or drift into politics. Anything but inner work.

But Passover is not about figuring out the world’s problems. It is about the bondage within ourselves. It is about allowing the story to transform us. The Haggadah commands each person to see themselves as if they personally left Egypt. It is not a metaphor for someone else’s struggle, for whichever political leader you think Pharaoh represents, or for whichever oppressed people mirror the Israelites. It is a challenge to confront our own constraints and pursue our own redemption, one good deed at a time.

The Lubavitcher Rebbe rebuilt Jewish life from the ashes of the Holocaust through this principle. As documented in « Letters for Life, » the Rebbe focused not on politics or ideology but on encouraging one positive act, one mitzvah, at a time to create lasting transformation. Psychology backs this up. Behavioral activation therapy, used to treat depression, shows how purposeful action can reshape the mind even before motivation arrives.

The Seder reflects the same idea. The four cups of wine represent stages of breaking destructive patterns, embracing positive change, developing ethical awareness, and internalizing growth.

Through ritual and storytelling, we make our way toward liberation. We do not just remember the Exodus. We live it.

Even matzoh teaches us. Unlike bloated bread, it is flat and humble. It stands in stark contrast to a culture obsessed with image and ego. In a world that rewards puffed-up self-importance, matzoh reminds us that true liberation begins with humility. You cannot escape Pharaoh if you are still enslaved to your own ego.

We eat bitter herbs at the Seder not only to remember our ancestors’ suffering but also to confront our own, to taste the bitterness we carry and draw out what we have buried.

Egypt is not just a historical place. It is a personal metaphor. Mental chains are just as real as physical ones. Fear, shame, addiction, and resentment are our modern Pharaohs. The Seder gives us a spiritual roadmap to break free.

Faith is not meant to serve our platforms or confirm our political biases. It is meant to challenge us and transform us into better human beings.

  • Italy makes heartbreaking history by missing out on third straight World Cup after shootout loss

Italy made heartbreaking history on Tuesday night, as they missed their third straight World Cup bid following a loss to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Italy is now the first World Cup-winning team to miss three consecutive tournaments following the penalty-kick shootout loss in the European playoffs.

The nation was once a soccer powerhouse, winning it all four times with its most recent in 2006. But recent years have not been kind to the Italian squad, and they were feeling the pain of the loss after the match.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

« We still don’t believe it – that we’re out and that it happened in this manner, » Italy’s Leonardo Spinazzola said to reporters, per the New York Post. « It’s upsetting for everyone. For us, for our families and for all the kids who have never seen Italy at a World Cup. »

After 90 minutes and extra time, both nations were stuck in a 1-1 tie, and the penalty shootout was needed to determine a winner. Italy eventually fell to Bosnia and Herzegovina, 4-1, in the shootout, as Esmir Bajraktarevic secured the victory with the final goal.

SIX WORLD CUP SPOTS LEFT! ITALY, POLAND, JAMAICA AMONG TEAMS WHO CAN QUALIFY

It didn’t help that Italy was playing with just 10 men on the field after Alessandro Bastoni received a red card before halftime. Bosnia and Herzegovina used the man advantage to tie the game in the 79th minute, as Haris Tabakovic scored the equalizer.

Moise Kean was able to strike first for Italy in the 15th minute, giving them the momentum they were searching for coming into the match. However, they were never able to rally in the end.

While Italy remains one of only three nations to ever win the World Cup four times in history, they can’t seem to find what it takes to get to the tournament.

In 2018, Italy fell at the hands of Sweden, while North Macedonia shocked them in 2022 in the qualifiers.

Now, Bosnia and Herzegovina will try their luck in Group B when the World Cup kicks off, starting with a match against Canada. They will also face Qatar and Switzerland in the group stage.

  • Kristi Noem ‘devastated’ by story about her husband’s online activities

I’ve had no intention of piling on Kristi Noem.

She did a terrible job, especially with ICE and FEMA, seemed obsessed with promoting herself–whether at a Salvadoran prison or on horseback at Mount Rushmore–and President Trump fired her. He probably waited too long, but he did oust her as secretary of Homeland Security. End of story.

    Until now.

300-PLUS ANGEL FAMILIES JUMP INTO MARKWAYNE MULLIN’S DHS NOMINATION FIGHT IN UNEQUIVOCAL TERMS

I know this reeks of gossipy tabloidism, but it directly involves the ex-secretary and, what makes it dead serious, it raises the prospect of blackmail. And it follows the romantic rumors that she has dismissed.

The Daily Mail, which has amassed a ton of evidence, reports on the « secret life, » to use that headline-grabbing cliche, of her husband, Bryon Noem.

There are several photos of Bryon Noem, sporting pink hotpants and enormous fake breasts.

Mail reporters interviewed several « fetish » models who claim to have had an online relationship with Noem, tied to women fantasizing about becoming Barbie dolls with gigantic curves (far eclipsing the actual skinny dolls). It’s called « bimbofication. »

The piece says Mr. Noem is said to have paid these women thousands of dollars for their services, sometimes making salacious requests. I’ll spare you the unsettling  details.

Kristi’s reps told the New York Post: « Ms. Noem is devastated. The family was blindsided by this, and they ask for privacy and prayers at the time. »

The president told the Daily Mail he was surprised to hear the Noem family confirmed the shocking report into his lewd online behavior.

« They confirmed it? Wow, well, I feel badly for the family if that’s the case, that’s too bad, » Trump said in a phone call.

But here’s the key part. Noem, says the Mail, made little attempt to conceal the extracurricular activities, giving women her husband’s phone number with a voicemail message that identified his business.

The main concern, and the reason this is newsworthy, is that Kristi could have been subjected to blackmail.

NOEM THANKS TRUMP FOR NEW SHIELD OF THE AMERICAS SPECIAL ENVOY ROLE AFTER DHS OUSTER

Former CIA officer Marc Polymeropoulos told the paper, « If a media organization can find this out, you can assume with a high degree of confidence that a hostile intelligence service knows this as well. »

An editor at Glenn Beck’s The Blaze said, « The entire GOP is full of degenerates, at this point probably more than Dems. And in this case, all of this was known long before she was appointed. It was an insane appointment. »

All right, I think we’ve all had enough of that.

Let’s turn to the new DHS secretary, former senator Markwayne Mullin.

As the New York Times reports, « Mullin has worked toward a less flashy debut: briefing members of Congress on the effects of the government shutdown, attending White House meetings and doing a video talking up the people he now oversees. ‘I think I have the greatest employees working at DHS. ever — I mean that sincerely,’ » he said in a video.

Mullin still has to manage a mass deportation program that has plummeted in public approval–especially after the killing of two American citizens in Minneapolis. And he largely agrees with Trump’s hardline views.

FIRED DHS CHIEF KRISTI NOEM FACES CRIMINAL REFERRAL FROM CONGRESSIONAL DEMOCRATS

At his confirmation hearing, Mullin said: « My goal in six months is that we’re not in the lead story every single day. « My goal is for people to understand we’re out there, we’re protecting them and we’re working with them. »

It will be a difficult balancing act – especially since, for the moment, DHS funding is frozen – except for TSA workers, by presidential decree – as the two parties can’t agree on a way to resolve the partial government shutdown.

What’s clear is that the Kristi Noem era is over, with a new boss who wants to avoid headlines rather than seek them out.

Footnote: Jimmy Kimmel is taking heat for making disparaging remarks about Markwayne Mullin.

« Let me make this very clear, I’m not upset that the head of Homeland Security used to be a plumber. I’m upset that he isn’t still a plumber, » Kimmel said. « That’s right. We have a plumber protecting us from terrorism now. It worked for Super Mario. Why not Markwayne? »

This was widely criticized as denigrating the working class.

« Secretary Mullin represents the best of blue-collar America, and failed comedian Jimmy Kimmel chooses to ridicule him for it, » a DHS spokesperson told Fox.

What’s more, Mullin took over the debt-ridden family company and expanded it into a major regional operation, including real estate and environmental services.

Kimmel doubled down, despite the criticism. « I wouldn’t put a plumber in charge of Homeland Security for the same reason I wouldn’t call a five-star general to pull a rat out of my toilet. OK? We all have our areas of expertise. »

Jimmy just has a tin ear on this one.

  • Alabama Gov Kay Ivey hospitalized following minor procedure, says she is determined to make speedy recovery

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey, a Republican, was hospitalized on Tuesday after undergoing a minor procedure to remove fluid that was pressing against her lung, according to her office.

Ivey, 81, will be monitored at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery in the coming days out of an abundance of caution, a spokesperson for the governor said in a statement.

The fluid was discovered on Tuesday when the governor went to her doctor because she was feeling discomfort in her left side and recently experienced some shortness of breath.

« For the last three weeks, Governor Kay Ivey has experienced some discomfort in her left side, » the statement said. « After monitoring the pain and recently feeling slightly short-of-breath, she made the decision to be seen again by her primary care physician earlier today. »

MCCONNELL RELEASED FROM HOSPITAL AFTER HEALTH SCARE, TO WORK FROM HOME AS KEY DHS VOTE LOOMS

While Ivey’s medical issue wasn’t urgent, but she wanted it taken care of quickly so she could recover before the legislative session ends.

« While it was not emergent, Governor Ivey wanted to get the procedure done as soon as possible so she can quickly get back to 100% to wrap up the 2026 Regular Session, » the statement said.

Ivey’s office did not specify how long she would be in the hospital.

« We are in touch with Governor Ivey, and she says she is determined to make a very speedy and full recovery, » her spokesperson said.

WH CHIEF OF STAFF SUSIE WILES DIAGNOSED WITH EARLY STAGE BREAST CANCER, PROGNOSIS ‘EXCELLENT,’ TRUMP SAYS

Officials in Alabama and other states offered support for Ivey as she recovers from the procedure.

Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, a Republican, said he was thankful Ivey was « receiving excellent care from some of the finest medical professionals. She is in good hands, and I join so many Alabamians in praying for her swift and full recovery. »

Georgia GOP Gov. Brian Kemp said he and his family were praying for Ivey and wished her a speedy recovery.

« She has always been a fighter and we know she’ll fight through this too, » Kemp wrote.

The Alabama governor announced in 2019 that she was undergoing radiation for lung cancer, describing it as a small localized spot. Her office said the following year that scans indicated the treatment was successful, and she was free of disease.

Ivey is term-limited and cannot run for re-election this year.

  • Marco Rubio warns Iran wanted to be the ‘next North Korea’ as he sees ‘finish line’ in conflict

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Tuesday the U.S. is nearing the « finish line » in its conflict with Iran, while warning that Tehran was seeking to become the next North Korea.

Rubio told « Hannity » Tuesday that Iran was pursuing intercontinental missiles capable of striking the United States and would have achieved those objectives if President Donald Trump had not launched Operation Epic Fury.

« They were aiming to become the next North Korea, except not a North Korea run by a regime that is troublesome and hard to understand, but an Iran run by radical Shia clerics with intercontinental missiles that could reach the mainland of the United States eventually, » the Secretary of State said.

« That’s what they would have ultimately achieved… had President Trump not taken these steps that he’s taken. »

CRUZ SAYS TRUMP’S MOVE TO STRIKE IRAN ‘MOST CONSEQUENTIAL DECISION’ OF HIS PRESIDENCY

Rubio accused Iran’s regime of misleading the public about its ballistic missile capabilities, saying officials « denied » their missiles could reach as far as London.

« [Abbas] Araghchi, their foreign minister, this guy is a liar, » he told Fox News host Sean Hannity. « This guy was on television like a week ago – two weeks ago – denying that Iran had any missiles that could go beyond a certain limitation.«

Trump has recently said the Iran conflict could last only a few more weeks, as Operation Epic Fury nears 33 days, with Rubio echoing that the end is near.

DEFIANT IRAN VOWS TO FIGHT ‘UNTIL COMPLETE VICTORY,’ DESPITE HEAVY MILITARY LOSSES

« We can see the finish line. It’s not today, it’s not tomorrow, but it is coming, » Rubio said.

Rubio has signaled progress in talks with Iran, noting that while Tehran remains publicly defiant, its officials are being more cooperative in private discussions.

But he said President Trump will not be « strung » along like the Biden administration.

TRUMP SAYS MOST NATO COUNTRIES HAVE INDICATED THEY DO NOT WANT TO INVOLVE THEMSELVES IN IRAN CONFLICT

« What President Trump is not going to allow is he’s not going to allow fake negotiations to be used as a delay tactic, to buy more time, to buy themselves space, » Rubio explained.

Iranian leadership remains fluid, according to reports, as Pakistan announced Sunday that it will host talks between the United States and Iran.

Rubio warned that if a deal is not reached, the United States will not stop its military campaign.

TRUMP’S IRAN STRATEGY IS WORKING AND TEACHING OUR FOES WHAT DETERRENCE MEANS

« We’re not going to allow… the failure of talks to impede our ability to defend this country and to protect this country from a real threat, » he declared.

Rubio argued the Iranian regime is made up of people with destructive tendencies.

« This is a regime led by people who believe that it is their calling and their purpose in life is to usher in the end of the world, » he told Fox News. « These people want nuclear weapons.«

He also warned that the United States may reconsider its role in NATO once the U.S.-Iran conflict ends, as the war raised questions about the alliance’s value.

« We are going to reexamine whether or not this alliance, that has served this country well for a while, is still serving that purpose or has it now become a one-way street, where America is simply in a position to defend Europe. But when we need the help of our allies, they’re going to deny us basing rights, » he told Fox News.

President Trump will address the nation Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET to discuss the state of the U.S.-Iran conflict.

  • Trump signs executive order overhauling mail-in voting in major election integrity push

President Donald Trump on Tuesday signed a sweeping executive order targeting mail-in voting and voter eligibility, calling the move a major step toward restoring confidence in U.S. elections.

Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump said the order is focused on « voter integrity and Mail-In ballots » and on « stopping the massive cheating that’s gone on. »

    « We’re going to be signing an executive order, » Trump said. « It’s, I believe it’s foolproof… I think it’s very obvious what’s said. »

The order directs federal agencies to work with states to compile lists of eligible voters using federal citizenship and identity data, while also instructing the U.S. Postal Service to develop new safeguards for mail-in ballots, including barcode tracking and verification measures.

TRUMP REVEALS TOP ISSUES GOP SHOULD FOCUS ON TO SECURE MIDTERMS VICTORY: ‘I’VE NEVER BEEN MORE CONFIDENT’

Under the order, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) working with the Social Security Administration and other federal databases, will create and share « State Citizenship Lists » with state election officials.

The lists are intended to identify individuals confirmed to be U.S. citizens who will be at least 18 years old by the time of a federal election and who reside in that state.

Those lists are to be updated and transmitted to states ahead of federal elections, according to the order.

The order also directs the attorney general to prioritize investigations and potential prosecutions involving officials or others who issue ballots to individuals not eligible to vote in federal elections, as well as those involved in the « printing, production, shipment, or distribution of ballots » to ineligible voters.

SCOTUS CONSERVATIVES SIGNAL READINESS TO CURB LATE-ARRIVING MAIL BALLOTS

On mail ballots, the executive order calls on the postmaster general to initiate a rule-making process within 60 days. Proposed changes include requiring ballots to be clearly marked as official election mail, including a unique Intelligent Mail barcode or similar tracking technology, and undergoing Postal Service design review.

The order also outlines a system under which states would notify USPS if they plan to use mail-in or absentee ballots and provide lists of eligible voters, allowing the Postal Service to maintain participation records tied to ballot distribution.

Trump framed the changes as a direct response to what he described as longstanding vulnerabilities in voting by mail.

NOEM BACKS SAVE AMERICA ACT, SLAMS ‘RADICAL LEFT’ OPPOSITION TO VOTER IDS AND PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP

« The cheating on mail-in voting is legendary, » he said. « It’s horrible what’s going on. »

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the administration is pushing for a system that ties each ballot to a trackable envelope.

« If you voted by mail, you will have it on the envelope, » Lutnick said. « There’ll be a million envelopes… and you’ll be able to know exactly correctly, that citizens voted. »

Trump said additional election-related measures, including voter ID and proof of citizenship requirements, are also under consideration.

« We’d like to have voter ID, we’d like to have proof of citizenship… we’re working on that, » he said.

He also argued that opposition to such measures is politically motivated.

« The only people that don’t want to do voter ID are people that cheat, » Trump said.

Trump acknowledged the order could face legal challenges but said he believes it will withstand them.

« I don’t know how it can be challenged, » Trump said after signing the order. « You may find a rogue judge… but that’s the only way that could be changed. »

The executive order states that voting in federal elections is reserved « exclusively for citizens of the United States » and argues that additional safeguards are necessary to « maintain public confidence in election outcomes. » It also says that ballot identifiers such as barcodes can help ensure that only eligible voters receive and cast ballots.

Trump cast the issue in much broader terms.

« If you don’t have honest voting, » he said, « you can’t have really a nation. »

  • Colorado tried to silence me for helping gender-confused kids. The Supreme Court just ruled 8-1 in my favor

On March 31, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in my case, Chiles v. Salazar. It concerns a Colorado law that forbids licensed counselors like me from talking with gender-confused kids to help them regain comfort with their bodies — even if that’s what the kids want. I filed suit with the help of Alliance Defending Freedom to challenge this censorship, and the justices have now decided 8-1 in my favor.

It’s reassuring to have the court protect freedom of speech. While Colorado officials may honestly think that a boy can become a girl, our country was founded on the right to engage in healthy debate — even when the government disagrees with us.

This ruling also helps protect the mental, physical and emotional health of our children. But Colorado’s law puts their health at risk. Specifically, this law required counselors like me to avoid conversations with young clients who wanted to realign their identity with their sex, while encouraging kids to reject their sex.

SUPREME COURT BLOCKS COLORADO’S SO-CALLED ‘CONVERSION THERAPY’ BAN ON FIRST AMENDMENT GROUNDS

In effect, the state is forcing counselors to be silent or participate in a one-size-fits-all mandate pushing kids down the path of gender transition and toward dangerous drugs and surgeries. This mandate forbids certain kids and families from getting the counseling they want that actually helps them — counseling to help them accept their bodies. Colorado thinks it knows better than families what counseling they should receive.

The law also constrains my best instincts as a critical thinker and clinically trained counselor. I should be listening to my clients rather than steering them toward a state-ordained conclusion. Instead, the state law would compel me to suppress both my beliefs and professional training, when it’s that very combination that often attracts clients to seek me out.

Colorado’s censorship deprives these young people of what they want most: someone to talk with who will genuinely listen … who will try to understand their individual experiences and sensibilities … who can walk with them through their pains and confusions and help them find their way to thoughtful decisions and a happier future.

Thankfully, our highest court has now recognized the danger of what Colorado and other states have been pushing on my profession. Throughout our history, government officials have repeatedly tried to use censorship in the name of protecting people from hearing ideas considered too dangerous. And once again, the court had to explain why censorship can’t be the answer to our disagreements. With their decision, the justices are offering Colorado a refresher on First Amendment basics and affirming that government cannot silence viewpoints in the counseling room.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

But this victory calls for further action. I plead with counselors to rethink gender ideology’s claim that it’s possible to be born in the wrong body and to recommit to protecting young people. Research indicates that most children experiencing gender dysphoria — including about 90% of children before puberty — will desist, meaning they will come to identify with their given sex. But those natural desistance rates collapse once kids begin to socially transition and are treated like the opposite sex. And less desistance means an increased number of kids eventually undergoing harmful drugs and surgeries with no proven benefits.

Just because some professional groups cite their own authority as « evidence » otherwise, and some in the media embrace this fad, doesn’t make it so. Rather, we should study the science that bluntly contradicts the fad — and do so with the same fair-mindedness and rigor we bring to the other issues of our profession. Let’s admit as a profession that, according to many, we have lost the public’s trust and must work to rebuild it.

The kids struggling with issues of identity deserve this.

These are the opportunities the Supreme Court ruling will help make possible. I hope we can share the justices’ commitment to protecting young people and their families from bad science, compromised freedoms and political intrusions on the right to pursue truth without being silenced.

Kaley Chiles is a licensed professional counselor in Colorado.

  • Suburban mom accused of killing ex, his parents after ‘hang out’ text, confession revealed in docs: report

Authorities have released new information involving the 30-year-old Indiana woman accused of gunning down the father of her children and his parents in an Illinois suburb earlier this month.

Jenna Strouble is charged with nine counts of first-degree murder stemming from the deaths of 32-year-old Jacob Lambert and his parents, Patrick and Stacy Forde, in Chicago on March 22, according to FOX 32.

According to newly released court documents, Strouble contacted Lambert on the day of the alleged murder asking him to « hang out, » later admitting to investigators that she went to the meeting « with an intention » to harm him.

’90 DAY FIANCE’ ALUM’S BOYFRIEND BEATS BOCA BASH ATTEMPTED MURDER CASE HE RIPS AS ‘RIDICULOUS’

Prosecutors allege Strouble drove to Plum Creek Nature Preserve, but pulled over along Burnham Road in Sauk Village upon learning the first location was closed and offered to give Lambert a back massage, FOX 32 reported.

Strouble then straddled Lambert as he laid on his stomach and massaged his back for about 20 minutes, court documents revealed, according to the outlet.

Strouble allegedly told investigators that when Lambert criticized her technique, she retrieved a Glock handgun hidden underneath the passenger seat and held it to the back of his head for several minutes before shooting him.

Prosecutors said immediately following the shooting, Strouble drove to Lambert’s parents’ home in nearby Crete Township and attempted to use his keys to get inside before his father, Patrick Forde, came to the door, according to FOX 32.

As Patrick Forde opened the door, Strouble allegedly began shooting from the porch as she entered the home, ultimately striking him 17 times in the chest and abdomen.

As Stacy Forde came downstairs, Strouble allegedly shot her three times in the chest and abdomen, FOX 32 reported.

Upon being asked if she came to Lambert’s parents’ home to finish her plan, Strouble allegedly told investigators, « Yeah, pretty much. »

Immediately after the alleged murders, Strouble is accused of returning to her home in St. John, Indiana and calling her sister to admit to what she had done, with Strouble’s sister ultimately notifying police.

Deputies reportedly arrived at the Fordes’ home around 2 a.m. on March 23 to find Patrick Forde’s lifeless body in the dining room and Stacy Forde lying on the stairs.

Lambert’s body was located in a nearby cul-de-sac in the passenger seat of a 2014 Ford Fusion Titanium, still face down with the seat reclined.

As officers arrived at Strouble’s St. John home to take her into custody, prosecutors said Strouble came outside and handed them a loaded Glock 19 fitted with a suppressor, with investigators locating a vehicle registered to Lambert less than a block away, FOX 32 reported.

Court documents revealed Strouble penned a note the night before the alleged killings providing the names of three of her children and asking others to care for them, according to the outlet.

Strouble allegedly admitted to purchasing the gun in December 2025 and buying the suppressor online for roughly $589.

Prosecutors pointed to Strouble’s complaints about Lambert’s parenting and tensions with his family as a possible motive for the alleged murders, with the pair occasionally maintaining an intimate relationship while co-parenting their two young children.

The mother reportedly admitted to not having a relationship with her children and spending little time with them, adding that she voluntarily handed custody over to Lambert and his family and only recently had them returned to her.

Strouble also allegedly told investigators she considered killing her own parents because she did not feel her children would be safe under their care.

When investigators asked if she killed Lambert’s parents because she did not want them to take custody of their children, she allegedly replied, « that’s some of the reasons. »

Prosecutors pointed to an incident in which Strouble allegedly took her father’s rifle and stashed it under her bed, later telling him she thought about killing Lambert but did not have a plan, according to FOX 32.

Investigators also learned of Strouble’s past suicidal tendencies and medication for depression, including one incident in which she wanted to kill herself by jumping out of a window with her children, the outlet reported.

Strouble is set to appear in court Tuesday, where a judge will make a determination to keep her in custody until her trial.

If convicted, Strouble could face life in prison.

  • Supreme Court blocks Colorado’s so-called ‘conversion therapy’ ban on First Amendment grounds

The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Colorado can’t enforce its « conversion therapy » ban regarding conversations between therapists and clients, saying the law likely violates the First Amendment by allowing some viewpoints but not others.

In an 8–1 decision, the court said the law favors one viewpoint by allowing therapists to affirm a client’s gender identity or sexual orientation, but not help them change it if they want to.

  • Comedian Wanda Sykes argues that modern comics are terrified of critics for saying wrong jokes

Comedian Wanda Sykes said in a Monday interview that many comedians are scared to tell certain jokes out of fear, but argued it is important to say them anyway.

Charlamagne tha God and the rest of the « Breakfast Club » radio show hosts interviewed Sykes and recalled her prolific career in comedy. Sykes got her big break writing for « The Chris Rock Show, » where she won an Emmy in 1999, then went on to have a stellar career in stand-up as well as recurring guest roles on comedic shows like « Curb Your Enthusiasm. » She also hosted the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in 2009 and was named one of the « 25 Funniest People in America » by Entertainment Weekly.

« The thing I used to love about ‘The Chris Rock Show’ — it was just full of uncomfortable truths, » Charlamagne recalled. « Even that whole era was full of uncomfortable truths, right? Do you think comedy is still allowed to be that honest? Or are we in an era now where everybody wants jokes, but they don’t want the truth that comes [with it]? »

« No. You know what? I think you’re allowed to do it, but it’s just who wants to do it?  You know what I’m saying? » Sykes replied, who has not shied away from political hot takes herself. « If I’m trying to fill an arena, you know what I’m saying, you can’t be that common. You got to be you got to appeal to the masses. And sometimes, right now, what the masses want to hear, it’s ugly, you know. »

« I’m glad you said that. I’m [going to] do it, » Jess Hilarious, a standup comedian herself, replied, « But when I do me, when I do funny, people be getting mad. »

« Who gives a f—? You can’t do it for them. You got to do it for you. You got to say what you want. And hey, if what I want to say and what makes me feel, you know, good about my gift that I have, if I’m only going to get maybe 600 people, then those are the 600 people that that, you know, you’re supposed to be speaking to. »

« But do people get offended too fast? » co-host DJ Envy asked. « Where it’s like, you know, back then jokes just flew. It didn’t matter. You made fun of everybody. It could be the crippled person. It could be to this person. It doesn’t matter. People laugh. Now it doesn’t seem like they laugh. They look for a reason to say, ‘You know what? We’re going to boycott your next show.’ »

Sykes argued that many people like to play the critic or moral police, but they often fail to understand where the comedian is coming from, willfully misinterpreting them in the worst possible way.

« A lot of people like to be the critic. They want to be the police, » Sykes said. « It’s like if you say something, and it might offend you, but you got to look at where that person is coming from. You know? Maybe their life, their perspective is different from what you know – ‘Yeah, you’re offended, but you’re not standing in my shoes. You don’t see it from my perspective!’ – So, I think that’s what we’ve gotten away from. »

Another co-host asked whether she had discerned a fine line on the issue of punching up versus punching down, which essentially is the dynamic where people discern whether it is socially acceptable to make fun of a person or group by assessing whether they are high status or low status.

« I always try to punch up because I feel like – but that’s me, » Sykes said, noting she herself is a Black woman and gay. Nonetheless, she said, « If you punch down, if it’s funny, I’m going to laugh. »

The difference, she argued, is whether a joke that is punching down comes from a place of love/familiarity or from genuine malice toward a person or group, citing a famous joke from Chris Rock about certain men in the Black community.
