  • Live possum discovered hiding among plush toys in an Australian airport gift shop

Someone was playing possum — or stuffed animal.

Among plush kangaroos, dingoes and Tasmanian devils ready to be bought by parents of antsy children, a live brushtail possum waited in a gift shop at an Australian airport this week.

The wild animal was first noticed by a shopper in the store on Wednesday, retail manager Liam Bloomfield of Hobart Airport in the state of Tasmania said.

« A passenger reported it to …. one of the staff members on shift who couldn’t quite believe what she was hearing, » Bloomfield told The Associated Press. « She then called the (airport) management and said we’ve got a possum in the store. »

Staff at the airport were able to remove the animal without harming it.

« I’m imaging it saw some of the plush animals that were for sale on the shelf and it decided to make its home with those, » Bloomfield joked of why the possum was hiding with the stuffed toys. « It wanted to blend in. »

« Can you spot the imposter? » the airport wrote in a Facebook post Thursday that showed the possum curled up in a cubby with its stuffed counterparts.

« This cheeky lost possum found a clever hiding place among the Aussie plushies in our retail store, » the airport continued. « Luckily it was safely relocated out of the terminal area and the space was cleaned. »

Bloomfield said the possum not only found a way into the airport but also their hearts.

« We’ll have a little shrine to the possum, » he revealed, according to The Independent. « There will be a nice little photo; once it gets a name, we will put a nice little post in front of the store to make sure it’s remembered. »

  • California man paroled under ‘youthful offender’ provision for 2 murders kills again less than a year later

A California man who killed a Los Angeles mother of six less than a year after being paroled for a double murder under a youthful offender law was sentenced to life in prison, authorities said Friday.

Darryl Lamar Collins, 55, was handed down the sentence for the killing of his girlfriend, Fatima Johnson, a 53-year-old mother of six who was found dead by her daughters in her apartment on July 4, 2021.

She was found with her wrists and ankles bound with shoelaces and duct tape and she was gagged with underwear, and duct tape was placed over her mouth and nose.

Collins stole Johnson’s cell phone, jewelry and her Lexus, prosecutors said. Hours after the murder, he pawned two of her necklaces and sold her vehicle for drugs.

CALIFORNIA FAMILY SUES CITY FOR $40M AFTER REPEAT OFFENDER ALLEGEDLY KILLS BELOVED LAB TECH OUTSIDE LIBRARY

The killing happened 364 days after he was released from prison for two previous murders.

« Darryl Collins took three innocent lives. Today’s sentence isn’t just about punishment, it’s also about protection from this sociopath to ensure he will never walk free again, » Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman said. « This case shows exactly what can happen when someone with a history of extreme violence is released from prison early. We can only hope that three families who have experienced unimaginable loss find some measure of peace knowing he will never again be back in our communities. »

Collins had previously been convicted of two separate murders in 1995 and was sentenced to two consecutive terms of 25 years to life.

However, he was released after serving 25 years — half of his sentence — under a youthful offender parole provision enacted by state lawmakers in 2017. The law raised the cutoff for youthful offender parole from age 23 to age 25.

BALTIMORE KILLER COMMITS THIRD MURDER AFTER BEING PAROLED TWICE FOR PRIOR SLAYINGS

At the time of the two earlier murders, Collins was 24.

« Had the state legislature not changed the law in 2017, almost 20 years after Collins’ sentencing, raising the age cutoff from 23 to 25 for youthful offender parole, Collins would have been behind bars rather than on the street and able to senselessly and brutally take another innocent life, » said Hochman.

On Sept. 17, 1995, Collins carjacked Derrick Reese, 28, who was using a payphone. After taking the vehicle, Collins backed up and shot Reese at least twice, killing him.

Eleven days later, Collins tried to rob a diner where Thomas Weiss, 44, was working as a cashier. Collins held Weiss at gunpoint and fatally shot Weiss in the face.

On January 15, 1998, Collins was sentenced to 50 years to life imprisonment.

The California Parole Board has come under heavy scrutiny in recent weeks after it found two convicted serial child rapists — David Funston and Gregory Vogelsang – suitable for early release, despite at least one admitting that he still fantasizes about children.

U.S. Rep. Kevin Kiley, R-Calif., cited Collins’ criminal history while calling for a review of the board’s decisions and state early release laws.

« California’s reckless laws and runaway Parole Board are getting our citizens killed, » he wrote on X.

Fox News Digital has reached out to the Parole Board.

  • GOP whip: ‘America-hating terrorists’ should lose citizenship under SCAM Act

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer says a string of recent terrorist attacks by naturalized citizens exposes serious flaws in U.S. immigration law, arguing it’s « more imperative now than ever » to pass the Stop Citizenship Abuse and Misrepresentation (SCAM) Act to allow the government to remove « America-hating terrorists » from the country.

First introduced by Emmer in January, the SCAM Act would expand the U.S. government’s ability to revoke citizenship from naturalized citizens convicted of being involved in terrorism, fraud or espionage. The Senate version of the bill was introduced by Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo.

« This has to be dealt with, » Emmer, a Minnesota Republican, told Fox News Digital.

« If you’re going to take advantage of the generosity of Americans, or you are going to associate with known terrorist organizations or commit aggravated felonies or terrorist attacks, even attempted, it doesn’t matter; no more playing games, » said Emmer. « You should be denaturalized and shipped back to wherever the heck you came from. »

HOUSE HOMELAND SECURITY REPUBLICAN URGES US MUSLIM LEADERSHIP TO ‘ISOLATE EXTREMISTS’ AFTER STRING OF ATTACKS

He lamented that under current law, « the standards to denaturalize someone are just too high, » but noted, « we have a solution to fix it. »

The bill, which on the House side currently sits in the House Judiciary Committee, allows prosecutors to use crimes committed after naturalization as evidence that an individual falsely claimed good moral character during the citizenship process, effectively arguing their citizenship was invalid from the start.

The SCAM Act already has nearly 50 House co-sponsors, according to Emmer. Once it is scheduled for a vote, he believes it will not have an issue passing and may even receive some bipartisan support from Democrats recognizing the gravity of the issue.

« It’s really simple, » he said. « The message is, terrorists do not belong on U.S. Soil, naturalized or not. »

STRING OF ATTACKS CONNECTED TO NATURALIZED CITIZENS RAISES NATIONAL SECURITY QUESTIONS

At the start of March, Senegalese-born naturalized citizen Ndiaga Diagne killed three people and injured over a dozen in a shooting in Austin. Diagne was shot and killed by police responding to the attack.

Not long after, Emir Balat and Ibrahim Kayumi, the children of naturalized citizens from Turkey and Afghanistan, allegedly pledged support to ISIS and attempted to bomb an anti-Islam demonstration outside the mayor’s mansion in New York City. They have been charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS, attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, and multiple explosives-related offenses including transporting, receiving and possessing destructive devices.

Then, March 12, Ayman Mohamad Ghazali, a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from Lebanon, allegedly attempted to ram his vehicle into a Michigan synagogue filled with children and teachers.

The same day at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a naturalized citizen from Sierra Leone, opened fire on a class of Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) students, killing Lt. Col. Brandon Shah. He also was killed at the scene.

« Clearly something is broken in our immigration system, » said Emmer, adding that terrorists « keep getting into our country and they keep being allowed to stay here at the expense of Americans and American lives. »

« We can’t go on like this, » he went on, emphasizing, « It is more imperative now than ever that we get this thing done. »

EX-JIHADIST WARNS OF PREDATORY RECRUITMENT AFTER ISIS-INSPIRED BOMB PLOT IN NEW YORK CITY

Despite this, Emmer has faced some opposition in Minnesota for his hardline stance.

Local outlet MPRNews reported a community activist leader in his district named Abdikadir Bashir, who is executive director of the nonprofit Center for African Immigrants and Refugees Organization, accusing Emmer of « trying to erase us politically. »

« The moment citizenship becomes conditional on whether a politician finds us convenient, none of us is safe, » said Bashir. « Today, it might be the Somali Americans. Tomorrow, it could be another ethnic group. »

Though he declined to hazard a guess on a timeline of when the bill might be passed, he said that « as soon as possible would be my plea. »

« We have an immigration system that is not requiring these people to actually declare their allegiance to the United States of America and their willingness to be Americans, » he said.

« We want anybody and everybody from anywhere who comes here to chase their American dream and become an American … we want you, » he concluded. « If you come here and you don’t intend to become an American, you intend to change America or destroy America, you need to get the heck out. »

  • Victor Wembanyama snaps the Spurs’ 6-season playoff drought in dramatic fashion with game-winning shot

Victor Wembanyama sent the San Antonio Spurs back to the playoffs in dramatic fashion.

Wembanyama drilled a 17-foot jumper with a second left to give the Spurs a 101-100 win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night at the Frost Bank Center to send the Spurs back to the playoffs for the first time in six seasons.

The 22-year-old’s game-winning shot capped a furious last-minute rally. The Spurs were down 100-95 with 1:13 left after Suns forward Jordan Goodwin drilled a 3-pointer.

Wembanyama sparked the comeback when he snared an offensive rebound and was fouled by Suns star Devin Booker and drilled two free throws to cut the Suns’ lead to 100-97. Booker then missed a shot on the other end of the floor, and Spurs point guard De’Aaron Fox quickly scored a layup to make it 100-99.

The Suns had a chance to take a three-point lead when Wembanyama fouled Rasheer Fleming on a take foul. However, Fleming missed both free throws, and the Spurs corralled the rebound, and immediately took a timeout.

Wembanyama capitalized on the missed free throws and drilled the game-winning jumper, sending the Spurs back to the playoffs.

LEBRON JAMES BACKTRACKS ON POTENTIAL NBA TEAM OWNERSHIP IN VEGAS, SAYS HE’S NOT INTERESTED ‘AT ALL’

Wembanyama said after the game that he was playing with wine-stained shorts after someone spilled wine on him.

« It was hard to take in all the stimulus around me, » Wembanyama said. « I had the fans looking at me. I had this guy spill wine on me. And then that was before the end of the game. I’d made the shot. I would sprint back on defense and kind of hit a guy and I got wine on my shorts now. It was a lot going on. »

Wembanyama, who scored 34 points and brought in 12 rebounds in the win, said he was happy to make the playoffs but is not satisfied.

« Of course, the first instinct is to be proud of it and to love it because we’re part of it, » Wembanyama said. « But the key for me is to try to not care because we want to attack 82 games. I’m scared to become complacent, so I’ll be on the other end of the spectrum right now. Try to not care at all. »

The Spurs are 52-18 and are three games behind the Oklahoma City Thunder (55-15) for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

Two people were arrested after allegedly unsuccessfully attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde in Scotland on Thursday, authorities confirmed to Fox News Digital.

One suspect was an Iranian man, while the other was a woman of unknown nationality, The Telegraph reported.

« Around 5pm on Thursday, 19 March, 2026, we were made aware of two people attempting to enter HM Naval Base Clyde, » Police Scotland said in a statement to Fox News Digital. « A 34-year-old man and 31-year-old woman have been arrested in connection and enquiries are ongoing. »

The Telegraph reported that the man was Iranian, while the woman’s nationality was not immediately known. Citing the Times, the Telegraph said the suspects were turned away from the base because they lacked the correct passes and were later arrested nearby for allegedly « acting suspiciously in the vicinity. »

  • Ex-FBI agents involved in Arctic Frost probe sue for wrongful termination

Two former FBI agents who helped investigate efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election sued Thursday to challenge their abrupt firings from the bureau, arguing that their terminations were « solely » due to their involvement in the probe.

The two agents, identified only as John Doe 1 and John Doe 2, accused FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi of politically retaliating against them for their work in the 2020 election case, known internally as « Arctic Frost, » despite having played brief and largely administrative roles in the investigation.

The lawsuit argues that the firings are a violation of FBI policy, as well as the agents’ rights under the First and Fifth Amendments of the Constitution. Both former agents are seeking reinstatement to the bureau, and a declaration from the court that their terminations were unlawful.

FBI AGENTS GROUP TELLS CONGRESS TO TAKE URGENT ACTION TO PROTECT AGAINST POLITICIZATION

« Political support for President Trump is not a legal or appropriate requirement for the effective performance of plaintiffs’ respective roles within the F.B.I., » the lawsuit states. « Accordingly, perceived lack of political support for President Trump is an impermissible basis for termination of plaintiffs’ F.B.I. employment. »

According to the lawsuit, the two agents were fired last fall, within a five-day period, and shortly after, unredacted internal documents related to the Arctic Frost probe were shared with members of Congress.

FBI Director Kash Patel proceeded to « summarily » fire both agents in late October and early November, the lawsuit says, « without evidence, » and without « internal investigation, notice, or hearing » to precede their terminations.

Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department responded to Fox News Digital’s request for comment on their removals, or the new lawsuit. During House testimony Thursday, however, FBI Director Kash Patel dismissed criticism raised by Democrats about terminations within the bureau.

« There’s 36,000 people employed at this FBI, » Patel told lawmakers.

« And I reject the notion wholeheartedly that the termination of those that were weaponizing law enforcement are the only ones that can do the mission, » he added.

FBI AGENTS SUTE TRUMP DOJ TO BLOCK ANY PUBLIC IDENTIFICATION OF EMPLOYEES WHO WORKED ON JAN.6 INVESTIGATIONS

The lawsuit argues that the terminations run afoul of FBI policy, which states that non-probationary special agents may be removed only for cause, such as misconduct, national security concerns, or an inability to perform the essential duties or responsibilities of their roles. Both had been lauded for their work at the bureau, it notes, and had received « exemplary » performance reviews and other outside recognition.

« In Arctic Frost, as in all other investigations to which they were assigned, Plaintiffs fully adhered to DOJ policies and procedures, including applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, and executed their law enforcement duties without bias or political motives, » they said in the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Washington, D.C.

BONDI SWORN IN AS ATTORNEY GENERAL WITH MISSION TO END ‘WEAPONIZATION’ OF JUSTICE DEPARTMENT

Lawyers for the agents also argued the removals break with Patel’s remarks last year during his Senate confirmation hearing, in which he vowed that agents would not be fired based on case assignments, and stressed that personnel decisions « should be based on performance and adherence to the law. »

The lawsuit adds to a growing list of unlawful termination lawsuits filed by ex-FBI agents in recent months, including former agents who have argued they were removed solely for their perceived political views, or for their involvement in certain politically sensitive investigations.

Former Justice Department officials have cited concerns that the probe or any retaliatory measures carried out as a result could have a chilling effect on the work of the FBI, including its more than 52 separate field offices.

The FBI Agents’ Association, or FBIAA, a voluntary agents’ group that represents more than 14,000 active and former special agents, sharply criticized the removals of the two special agents, saying in a statement released at the time that Patel « has disregarded the law and launched a campaign of erratic and arbitrary retribution. »

« An Agent simply being assigned to an investigation and conducting it appropriately within the law should never be grounds for termination, » the group said.

« FBI Agents deal in facts, and we urge Director Patel to do the same. »

  • Cowboy chef shares 6 survival cooking tricks for minus-30 wind chills and 117-degree heat

As much of the country shifts from winter storms to warmer temperatures with the arrival of spring, a veteran cowboy cook says decades of experience have taught him how to prepare meals in some of the harshest conditions on Earth.

Kent Rollins, a longtime chuck wagon cook and Outdoor Channel host, has spent decades cooking for ranchers in extreme weather conditions across the country.

« If they can cowboy in it and get horseback, I can cook in it, » Rollins told Fox News Digital.

AMERICA’S ‘CAST IRON COWBOY’ REVEALS WHY TRADITIONAL SKILLETS REMAIN THE ULTIMATE COOKING TOOL

From minus-30 wind chills to 117-degree heat, Rollins, based in New Mexico, has learned how to adapt while preparing simple meals outdoors year-round.

« Life is simple, » he said. « Don’t complicate it with cooking. »

Rollins has built a following of millions across social media and hosts « Cast Iron Cowboy » on the Outdoor Channel.

He also recently launched the « Cowboy Coffee Hour » podcast with his wife, Shannon, with the two sharing stories from the trail and lessons on grit, faith and the cowboy code.

COWBOY CHEF SAYS AMERICANS ARE TURNING TO ONE OF THE ‘HEALTHIEST MEATS,’ AND IT’S AT MOST GROCERY STORES

Here are six tips Rollins revealed to Fox News Digital that are essential for cooking in extreme conditions, he said.

In high temperatures, Rollins, who was raised in Oklahoma, said hydration is critical — but water alone isn’t enough.

« You’ve got to have something that’s going to put some of the good stuff back in you, » he said, noting he often turns to electrolytes, bananas and even coconut water.

FRIED BOLOGNA SANDWICH IS BOTH COWBOY ‘COMFORT FOOD’ AND ‘FIVE-STAR DINING’

He also warned people to pay attention to their bodies.

« If you ever reach up there to wipe your brow and there ain’t no sweat no more, you might have done went too far, » he said.

Cold weather presents its own dangers, especially for those cooking outdoors for long stretches.

Rollins recommended dressing in layers and wearing moisture-wicking clothing.

« Try to wear something that’s going to wick away that moisture in the wintertime if you do get sweating because water and cold make ice, » he warned.

Rollins also stressed the importance of covering exposed areas — noting that frostbite can set in quickly in extreme wind and snow.

What’s on the menu should change with the weather, Rollins said.

In colder months, he focuses on high-calorie, hearty meals.

« We make a lot of one-pot meals, » he said, including stews, chili and homemade sloppy Joes with ground beef, onions, jalapeños, chipotle peppers, adobe sauce and grated cheese to thicken it.

For breakfast, he keeps things straightforward with a biscuit recipe that only calls for self-rising flour and heavy whipping cream.

In extreme heat, however, appetites shrink and meals get lighter.

« Cowboys ain’t going to eat as much, especially at a noon meal, » he said.

Cooking outdoors means everything depends on your fire, Rollins said, especially in bad weather.

That means shielding it from wind, snow or rain and having a plan to keep it going.

« Make sure you have some kind of shelter … that the water is not going to put it out, » he said.

Extreme temperatures can impact cookware, too, Rollins said.

Cast iron should never be taken from very cold to very hot too quickly, he said.

TEST YOURSELF WITH OUR LATEST LIFESTYLE QUIZ

« If you shock cast iron from really being too cold to too hot in a hurry, you might crack it in half, » he said.

Instead, he recommended gradually warming it near a fire or stove before cooking and letting it cool down slowly afterward.

One of Rollins’ most versatile tools isn’t a pan or a pot. It’s a cooler, which he uses in multiple ways, depending on the weather.

In winter, an ice chest can keep ingredients like potatoes from freezing. It can also help thaw meat or hold heat with hot water in it.

Overall, mindset is the most important ingredient, according to Rollins.

« If it doesn’t challenge you, it will never change you, » he said.

  • Man accused of shooting father in face with crossbow captured after snowy manhunt

A West Virginia man was arrested after allegedly shooting his father in the face with a crossbow and leading police on a multi-county manhunt through snow-covered terrain, authorities said.

Chase Fleming was charged this week with malicious assault, with additional charges possible, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.

Police said Fleming was taken into custody after an « exhausting search » and a « lengthy foot pursuit » through snow-covered parts of Jackson and Roane counties.

The victim is in stable condition, the department said.

Fleming was admitted to a hospital for observation after deputies attempted to get him medically cleared for incarceration.

Jackson County Sheriff Ross Mellinger told WV MetroNews that Fleming entered his father’s home with a preloaded crossbow.

The two got into an argument, and Fleming allegedly fired the weapon, the outlet reported, hitting the victim in the face.

The bolt reportedly entered the victim’s face just below his left eye and exited the back of his head.

« How the guy is still alive is beyond me, it’s really remarkable, » Mellinger told MetroNews.

After fleeing the scene in his pickup truck, Fleming later crashed, police said.

Mellinger said the sheriff’s department used multiple K-9s and drones while searching for Fleming, covering roughly seven miles through snow and wooded terrain.

Fleming was found hiding under a rock on a remote ridge and taken into custody without resistance, according to the outlet.

Bond has not been set, according to the sheriff’s department.

  • Feds charge 3 in $2.5b scheme to smuggle us AI tech to China using dummy servers

Federal prosecutors charged three men linked to Super Micro Computer Inc. in a sweeping scheme to smuggle billions of dollars in U.S. artificial intelligence technology to China using fake documents, shell companies and staged equipment, officials said.

The defendants allegedly diverted $2.5 billion worth of AI servers — including $510 million in just a few weeks in 2025 — to China.

Yih-Shyan Liaw, 71, a U.S. citizen, and Ting-Wei Sun, 44, of Taiwan, were arrested Thursday, while a third individual, Ruei-Tsang Chang, 53, also of Taiwan, remains at large.

« The indictment unsealed today details alleged efforts to evade U.S. export laws through false documents, staged dummy servers to mislead inspectors, and convoluted transshipment schemes, in order to obfuscate the true destination of restricted AI technology — China, » Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said in a statement. « These chips are the product of American ingenuity, and NSD will continue to enforce our export-control laws to protect that advantage. »

TOP AI FIRM ALLEGES CHINESE LABS USED 24K FAKE ACCOUNTS TO SIPHON US TECH

Supermicro said Thursday it was informed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York that three individuals associated with the company had been indicted in connection with an alleged export-control scheme. The company said it is not named as a defendant.

Supermicro said Liaw was a co-founder, senior vice president of business development and board member, Chang was a sales manager in Taiwan, and Sun was a contractor.

Supermicro said it placed the two employees on administrative leave and terminated its relationship with the contractor.

« The conduct alleged in the indictment violates the company’s policies and efforts to comply with export control laws, » Supermicro said.

According to the indictment, Liaw and Chang — who worked with brokers and customers in China — allegedly directed executives of a Southeast Asia-based company to place purchase orders with a U.S. manufacturer for servers equipped with certain GPUs, purportedly for that company.

The servers were often assembled in the U.S. before being delivered to the Southeast Asia-based company, which then repackaged them in unmarked boxes to conceal their contents before shipping them to China.

The defendants and company executives allegedly prepared false documents and communications to show that the company was the end user of the servers.

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton for the Southern District of New York accused the defendants of participating in a « systematic scheme » to divert servers with U.S. artificial intelligence technology to customers in China.

« They did so through a tangled web of lies, obfuscation, and concealment—all to drive sales and generate revenues in violation of U.S. law, » he said. « Diversion schemes like those disrupted today generate billions of dollars in ill-gotten gains and pose a direct threat to U.S. national security. »

Roman Rozhavsky, assistant director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence and Espionage Division, added that « controlling the export of sensitive U.S. artificial intelligence technology is essential to safeguarding our national security and defending the homeland. »

Prosecutors said the defendants took « extensive measures » to conceal the scheme.

According to the indictment, the defendants staged thousands of « dummy » servers — nonworking physical replicas of the U.S. manufacturer’s servers — to deceive its compliance team.

Officials said surveillance video captured the defendants preparing the dummy servers in a warehouse. Ahead of an inspection by the U.S. Department of Commerce, they allegedly used a hair dryer to remove and reapply labels and serial number stickers to server boxes and the dummy servers.

They then repackaged the dummy servers in the U.S. manufacturer’s boxes, according to the indictment.

The defendants were charged with conspiracy to violate the Export Control Reform Act, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, as well as conspiracy to smuggle goods and conspiracy to defraud the United States, each carrying up to five years.

  • Missing University of Alabama student Jimmy Gracey found dead in Barcelona

The body of missing University of Alabama student James « Jimmy » Gracey was recovered Thursday in Barcelona, Spain, after a days-long search, authorities confirmed.

Police recovered the body at Port Olimpic, a marina just steps from the waterfront nightclub where Gracey was last seen.

A spokesperson for Mossos d’Esquadra said the remains recovered at Port Olimpic have been identified as belonging to the 20-year-old junior, who was last seen early Tuesday morning at the waterfront Shoko nightclub.

Gracey, of Elmhurst, Illinois, disappeared around 3 a.m. after visiting the Shoko restaurant and nightclub.

« He was with friends, but they got separated at the end of the night, » his mother, Therese Gracey, said. Gracey never made it back to the Airbnb he had rented with friends, his family said.

Divers were seen entering the water with a stretcher at around 7:05 p.m. local time and returned to the dock with a body bag 10 minutes later.

The discovery came after a search that included helicopters, boats, dive teams and motorcycle units, as authorities pursued multiple lines of investigation, including the possibility that Gracey may have drowned.

Divers said visibility in the water was extremely limited, at times only about 40 centimeters or roughly 16 inches.

Police had also recovered Gracey’s phone during the arrest of another individual, according to a family spokesperson, and were reviewing location data as part of the investigation.

« Our family is heartbroken as we confirm that Jimmy’s body has been recovered in Barcelona, » the Gracey family said. « Jimmy was a deeply loved son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend, and our family is struggling to come to terms with this unimaginable loss. »

TRUMP RAISES EYEBROWS WITH ‘STATEHOOD’ COMMENT AFTER VENEZUELA BEATS THE US IN WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC

While this game had all the thrills, the WBC turned out to be an exciting tournament from the very start with pool play.

Whether it was feel-good stories like Ondřej Satoria’s standing ovation from Japanese fans at the Tokyo Dome during his final outing for Czechia or Italy’s espresso machine home run celebration, viewers from all over were tuning in to watch magic happen on the diamond.

The tournament averaged 1,294,000 viewers across FOX, FS1 and FS2, making it the most-watched WBC in its 20-year history on English language networks.

  • Major city hikes hotel tax to nearly 20% as tourism bosses eye major events

The Chicago City Council has agreed to raise its tourist tax in an effort to grow traveler marketing programs.

The vote on Ordinance 2026-0022544 will raise the tax on hotel rooms within that district to 19% from the rate of 17.5% — which includes a combined city, county and state tax, according to the Chicago Sun Times.

The increase will be applied to hotel stays at properties in the downtown and surrounding areas that contain over 100 rooms.

The increase will apply to room rates at hotels with 100 or more rooms that agree to opt in.

The city council also passed the formation of the Tourism Improvement District (TID) — which will fund Choose Chicago, the city’s official destination marketing organization.

Revenue will be used for city marketing campaigns and to cover bid fees for conventions and major events.

Chicago is already targeting the Democratic National Convention, which requires a $1 million bid.

  • Fox News ‘Antisemitism Exposed’ Newsletter: Democrats, Independents turn on Israel

Fox News’ « Antisemitism Exposed » newsletter brings you stories on the rising anti-Jewish prejudice across the U.S. and the world.

    IN TODAY’S NEWSLETTER:
    – Support for Israel drops as Democrats turn against key US ally: poll
    – New terror group with reported Iran ties claims 4 attacks across Europe
    – Michigan synagogue security ‘heroes’ ‘saved lives’ in Temple Israel attack, gov says

TOP STORY: Support for Israel has plummeted, hitting a record low as Democrats and independents desert the longtime ally. A new poll shows only 32% of Americans view Israel positively, a « sea change » from previous years. Driven by the Gaza conflict and a deepening generational divide, Democratic sympathy for Palestinians now overwhelms support for Israel, threatening a historic partisan realignment.

VIDEO: Israel Defense Forces announced that the suspected Michigan synagogue attacker’s brother was a Hezbollah commander. WATCH HERE:

NEW MENACE: Europe is on high alert as a new terrorist group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiyya, suspected of having direct ties to Iran’s IRGC, has emerged. The organization recently claimed responsibility for four explosive and arson attacks targeting synagogues and Jewish schools in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Greece. Officials fear the group represents a dangerous expansion of Iranian proxy warfare.

HEROES HONORED: Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer hailed security staff as « heroes » after they neutralized a Lebanese-born terrorist who rammed his truck into Temple Israel. Armed with explosives and a rifle, the attacker was stopped by guards before he could harm the 140 children inside. Their rigorous active-shooter training and split-second bravery prevented an immense tragedy during the targeted antisemitic assault.

HATE UNMASKED: A California attorney and two others face felony charges following a brutal, allegedly antisemitic assault at San Jose’s upscale Santana Row. The trio targeted Hebrew-speaking victims, shouting slurs and « Don’t f— with Iran » during a relentless beating that left one man unconscious. While prosecutors continue investigating hate crime enhancements, the community remains shaken by the brazen, daytime violence.

TARGETED DEFENSE: Belgium is deploying military forces to protect synagogues and Jewish schools following a wave of terror attacks across Europe. An Iran-linked group, Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia, claimed responsibility for recent bombings in Belgium and the Netherlands. Soldiers will now reinforce local police at high-risk sites in Antwerp and Brussels to deter further violence amid surging regional tensions and antisemitism.

GUEST EDITORIAL: Liora Rez, founder of StopAntisemitism, warns against antisemitic tropes masquerading as criticism of Israel on campuses, podcasts and the streets of America. Claims that Jews control the world, or conduct the ritualized murder of Christian children, are returning to mainstream discourse in a disturbing trend, she writes.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK: « We won’t tolerate pummeling a victim on the ground in front of a restaurant or anywhere. Our public spaces have to be safe for all to enjoy without fear. » – Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen, following an anti-Semitic attack in San Jose.

  • Attending the Super Bowl is bucket-list experience that is unaffordable for most Americans

Think your favorite team has improved its Super Bowl odds through free agency? Better start saving.

Many hopeful NFL fans spend the offseason dreaming about their favorite team making the Super Bowl as they monitor offseason transactions and gear up for the NFL Draft. But attending the Super Bowl in person is a bucket-list item that will never get checked off for most American sports fans.

The dream is becoming more of a nightmare. The median household income was about $83,730 in 2024, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. With prices of almost everything going up, the idea of the average American football fan attending the Super Bowl appears to be more of a fairy tale.

Financial guru Ted Jenkin said the average American simply can’t realistically afford to attend the Super Bowl on a whim if their favorite team makes it.

2026 NFL FREE AGENCY TRACKER: VIKINGS RE-SIGN QB CARSON WENTZ

« The Super Bowl has become the biggest corporate hospitality event in America. When you look at resale tickets today, with prices for the Super Bowl being somewhere between $7,000 to $10,000, that means for the average American to attend, they would be spending four months of mortgage payments. Or if you look at the median income… two tickets to the Super Bowls is basically a fifth of your income, » Jenkin told Fox News Digital.

Finder, a company designed to help consumers make informed financial decisions, published shocking data last month that revealed Super Tickets cost « approximately 7.1% of a projected annual median household income. »

The average ticket for the 2026 Super Bowl was $5,567 on the secondary market with the lowest-price seats going for nearly $4,000 and some premium tickets skyrocketing to over $30,000, according to TicketiQ.

Jenkin, the founder of Exit Stage Left Advisors, estimates that between corporate sponsors, NFL partners and hospitality, he estimates that 75% of the tickets for the Superbowl don’t even go up for resale. In addition to the rising cost of the actual ticket, Jenkin said that flights, hotels, food, souvenirs and other entertainment will also add up quickly.

« That’s probably another couple thousand as well. So, you could spend easily, for one ticket, almost $20,000 in a weekend, » Jenkin said.

NFL WILL DILUTE PRODUCT EVEN FURTHER BY OPENING SEASON ON A WEDNESDAY

Jenkin understands that in a perfect world, the NFL would work to make it easier for the average American to attend a Super Bowl. However, he’s a capitalist at heart and understands the NFL is a business.

« It isn’t just the Super Bowl. If you look at the Masters or Formula One, or the NBA All-Star game, these have become luxury corporate events and the average American who wants to attend these things just simply can’t afford to go to any of them, » Jenkin said.

University of South Carolina professor Stephen L. Shapiro, who serves as chair of the Tepper Department of Sport and Entertainment Management, believes the Super Bowl is simply an « ultra-premium event » that relegates average Americans to their couch.

« The average fan, if their team makes the Super Bowl, it’s going to be a pretty steep investment for them to be able to go to the game, » Shapiro told Fox News Digital.

« Each year the Super Bowl gets bigger and bigger in terms of a global spectacle, » he added. « I think there’s definitely a push to have more corporate hospitality and VIP experiences. So, you see a lot more catering to a premium audience, whether that be a corporate partner or whether it be people that are wealthy. »

EX-NFL STAR CAUTIONS LEAGUE ABOUT ‘GIVING FANS TOO MUCH’ AS THANKSGIVING EVE GAME REPORTEDLY EYED

Shapiro also said the rise of an established secondary market for tickets is also working against the average fan.

« Once ticket resales went online with StubHub, it kind of changed the game. And so, now you have this dynamic where there are people purchasing tickets as brokers with an intention of reselling them for a profit rather than attending the game, » Shapiro said. « That market helped push up an already high-priced ticket for an event like the Super Bowl. »

Shapiro believes NFL owners should be concerned that average fans have access to attend games live in order to cultivate new long-term consumers, at least for regular-season contests.

« As for the playoffs and certainly the Super Bowl, it’s a premium event. I think it would be very challenging for the NFL to make these tickets affordable with the amount of people that want to go, » he said.

The NFL Annual League Meeting is set to begin on March 29, free agency began earlier this month, and the NFL Draft is set for late April. All the offseason wheeling and dealing occurs with a common goal of reaching the Super Bowl – regardless of who can afford to attend.

Super Bowl LXI is set for Feb. 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and fans shouldn’t expect the game to become more affordable anytime soon.

« I think for most Americans, here’s the way to solve your problem. You may not be live at the event, but you can always buy a 100-inch screen TV. It’ll be about 20% of the price, and you’ll probably have a better experience, » Jenkin said.

Fox News Digital’s Ryan Gaydos contributed to this report.

  • Pence urges Senate to ‘restore public confidence’ with nationwide voter ID law

EXCLUSIVE: Former Vice President Mike Pence says that a national voter ID law « is truly an idea whose time has come. »

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital, Pence urged the Senate to « make voter ID the law of the land in all 50 states. » The Senate is currently debating the SAVE America Act, which is strongly championed by Pence’s former boss, President Donald Trump.

The SAVE Act, which stands for Safeguard American Voter Eligibility, narrowly passed the GOP-controlled House in February mostly along party lines. But it’s stalled in the Senate, where Republicans hold a 53-47 majority in the chamber, far short of the 60-vote threshold needed to pass the bill.

The federal bill would require strict voter ID and proof-of-citizenship requirements across the country. Republicans say the bill is necessary to secure election integrity.

FIRST ON FOX: REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS URGE CONGRESS TO PASS SAVE ACT

« I think requiring our voters to show photo ID at the ballot box or prove American citizenship is simply an idea whose time has come, » Pence emphasized.

And the former Indiana governor added, « I’m proud of the fact that the state of Indiana, 15 years ago, was one of the first states to adopt voter ID laws. Went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States and was upheld. It became model legislation for many states around the country. »

While polls indicate the vast majority of Americans — regardless of the political affiliation — support voter IDs at the polls and preventing noncitizens from voting in federal elections, Democrats argue the bill is not needed, since citizenship is already a requirement to vote and instances of noncitizen voting are rare.

FLORIDA REPUBLICANS SEND SAVE ACT-STYLE PROOF-OF-CITIZENSHIP VOTING BILL TO GOV. DESANTIS’ DESK

Democrats and voting rights groups also charge that the federal bill would create unnecessary barriers, making it harder for voters to cast a ballot. And longtime Senate Democratic leader Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York has framed the SAVE Act as « Jim Crow 2.0. »

Pence noted that « the time, place and manner of elections under the Constitution is governed by the states. But the federal government has, under our Constitution, the ability to set certain conditions and parameters, and I believe the Save ACT falls well within the constitutional prerogative of the Congress. »

The former vice president, through his policy and advocacy organization Advancing American Freedom, last month urged Congress to pass the bill.

Pence reiterated his stance in his Fox News Digital interview, noting, « We have championed the SAVE America Act since it was first introduced, and will continue to. I’d urge every member of the Senate to set politics aside, cast a vote to restore public confidence in election integrity in this country. »

SENATE GOP EYES BLAME GAME AS TRUMP-BACKED SAVE ACT HEADED FOR DEFEAT

Pence earned the ire of Trump’s supporters five years ago, when he dismissed the president’s unproven claims of massive voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election and certified former President Joe Biden’s electoral college victory. The certification was upended for hours by the Jan. 6 riots at the U.S. Capitol, during which some of the rioters chanted « Hang Mike Pence. »

« We all remember the election controversies of six years ago. We saw states that literally changed the rules in the midst of COVID for how votes would be counted, » Pence recollected. « There was never any evidence of widespread fraud that would change the outcome of the election, but it undermined public confidence, and it’s one of the reasons we’ve strongly supported election reform in states across the country. »

And the former vice president reiterated, « I truly do believe that making sure the American people have confidence that those that are voting are citizens of this country, and that voter ID becomes the law of the land is truly an idea whose time has come. »

  • Yankees broadcaster takes issue with ‘wrapping sports in the flag and preaching patriotism’

New York Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay appeared to take issue with « wrapping sports in the flag » as Team USA stars preached patriotism during the World Baseball Classic this month.

Paul Skenes, Bryce Harper and Aaron Judge were among the players who discussed what it meant to wear the USA on their chest. Team USA manager Mark DeRosa even brought in Robert J. O’Neill, the man credited with killing terrorist Usama bin Laden, into the locker room to speak to the players before their game against Canada in the quarterfinal.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Kay said those types of things made him a « little uneasy. »

« The thing that makes me a little uneasy … I don’t like wrapping sports in the flag and preaching patriotism and bringing in SEAL Team 6 people. The only uniform that counts to me is the one that’s worn by the men and women of our military, » he said Wednesday on ESPN New York radio. « They decide wins and losses. You don’t represent me because you have USA on the chest. I don’t believe it. »

Sports columnist Mike Lupica, who was on with Kay, said bringing in a member of SEAL Team 6 was a « little dodgy » to him and added that anytime politics is brought in sports it opens up a « rabbit hole we don’t want to head down. »

DeRosa explained earlier in the week why he brought in O’Neill.

TEAM USA STARS RIP SILVER MEDALS OFF NECKS AFTER WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC FINAL LOSS TO VENEZUELA

« That was my decision to bring him in, » DeRosa said, via Defector. « He was brought in, actually, a couple of days in Houston. It wasn’t before the Canada game. I think for me there has to be … you never want it to get lost why you’re doing this. Whatever that ‘why’ is and a lot of people, like Paul Skenes said to me when he signed up for this, ‘I want to do this for every service man and woman that protects our freedom. That’s why we wear USA across our chest.’

« I just thought it would be like a time to kind of redirect and get those guys to understand that, although this is an unbelievable event, and you get a chance to share a locker room with the game’s greats, there’s a reason why you’re doing it and a reason why people protect our freedom at night. I just wanted to honor that. »

Kay made similar comments about the hype of players representing their country with fervent patriotism and making it more than it is. He said that he didn’t believe that « international competition is a referendum on my country. »

« There are people that represent the United States that really represent the United States, and you know who those people are? The men and women of the military, » he said, via Awful Announcing. « That’s what it all comes down to. They decide the greatness of this country. Their sheer bravery, how they fight for freedom and throw their lives on the line – that is significant to me. The United States winning the gold medal against Canada? Wonderful. Thrilled for them. Not a referendum on my country, it’s just not.

« But somehow, we’ve turned this into, my country is better than your country – stop it. Come on. Aren’t we getting a little bit nonsensical with this jingoistic stuff? … I’m glad that everybody’s brought in. Mark DeRosa brought in one of the Navy SEAL guys that was part of the group that killed Usama bin Laden. OK, whatever gets the people motivated … but to equate a baseball game to that, I don’t know. »

  • New poll finds Americans likely to see each other as ‘morally bad’ — but expert says strong families can help

American adults are more likely than others to view their fellow citizens as morally bad, with more than half agreeing to the sentiment in a new Pew Research Center survey of 25 countries.

The survey, which was released earlier this month, was the first to feature this question, meaning Pew did not have data to publish showing whether this was a long-held belief or a recent trend.

« What we’re seeing is really an increase in a lack of social trust, right? That more frequently, Americans are living in communities where there’s high levels of Americans [who] say that they don’t trust those around them, » J.P. De Gance, the founder and president of Communio, told Fox News Digital.

Communio is a nonprofit that works with churches to strengthen families and communities by promoting healthy marriages and relationships.

OPINION: NO MARRIAGE. NO BABIES. NO FUTURE. AMERICA’S GOING FROM BIRTH TO DEATH

De Gance pointed to the rise in single parent-led households as a primary reason for the decline in social trust.

« I think this is the result of a long-term flight from that institution that best forms morals, which is marriage and the family, » De Gance said. « In the 1960s, you had a decoupling of sex from marriage, marriage from parenting. And the United States leads the developed world in single-headed, single parent-headed households. And it’s the home, typically the complementarity between mom and dad, that helps form young men and women in their moral outlook. »

The countries surveyed included the U.S., Argentina, Australia, Brazil, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Mexico, The Netherlands, Nigeria, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Pew found that 53% of U.S. adults saw their fellow citizens as morally bad. The U.S. was followed by Turkey at 49% and Brazil at 48%. Meanwhile, Canadians were the most likely to view their fellow citizens as morally good, with 92% saying so.

Pew also asked respondents from the 25 countries about the morality of nine behaviors: extramarital affairs, using marijuana, viewing pornography, gambling, having an abortion, homosexuality, drinking alcohol, getting a divorce and using contraceptives. The survey showed that 90% of Americans viewed extramarital affairs as morally wrong, far higher than other behaviors such as viewing pornography (52%), getting an abortion (47%) and homosexuality (39%). Smaller shares said the same about gambling (29%), using marijuana and getting a divorce (23% each), drinking alcohol (16%) and using contraceptives (8%).

HERITAGE FOUNDATION WARNS AMERICA ‘DANGEROUSLY CLOSE’ TO FAMILY BREAKDOWN POINT OF NO RETURN

When broken down by political party, Pew found that 60% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning adults said their fellow Americans are morally and ethically bad, compared to 46% of Republicans and Republican-leaning adults. Pew noted that a previous survey from August 2022 found rising partisan hostility, with 72% of Republicans and 63% of Democrats saying members of the opposing party are more immoral than other Americans.

De Gance lamented the number of Democrats and Republicans who see their fellow Americans as morally and ethically bad, saying the percentages were « way too high. » He told Fox News Digital that the sharp political divide was the result of the deterioration of « institutions that give rise to social trust, » such as strong homes.

« If you can’t trust the person who helped bring you into the world, that has spillover effects, right? » De Gance said.

De Gance believes the answer to healing Americans’ lack of trust is strengthening families.

« Families are a place where we can learn to trust and to love, » De Gance said. « I think being able to have a dinner with some regular frequency as a family is an important part of it. Having conversations with our loved ones about the world around us, about what they may be dealing with on a daily basis and then helping them think through that morally is a big part of the equation. »

The Communio president also underscored the important role that fathers play in forming social trust, saying that when fathers are frequently absent, a « big part of the puzzle is missing. »

However, he says this starts long before children enter the picture. De Gance argued that young people looking for a spouse should think of themselves as students studying the other person’s behavior for indications of what the future could hold.

« Being an observer there will help you in terms of entering a relationship well, forming a healthy marriage where we can raise our kids in a married home, » De Gance said. He also encouraged those already in a situation where they are an unmarried parent to find ways to build healthy co-parenting relationships when possible.

« All those good private decisions have great public consequences, » De Gance said.

A New York City Police Department officer assigned to security at Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s residence and City Hall has been suspended after officials said he shot a man in the head while off duty.

The shooting occurred Monday at around 9 p.m. in the Bronx after the officer interacted with several men regarding a stolen car, according to the NYPD.

The officer, who has not been publicly identified, has not been arrested or charged with a crime as of Thursday morning, police said. He has been suspended without pay.

  • Colorado school staffer accused of sexually abusing 13-year-old student, now on the run

Local authorities announced last Tuesday that a Colorado school staffer is accused of carrying out months of alleged sexual abuse involving a 13-year-old student.

The staffer was identified as 34-year-old Brenda Meza at Greeley-Evans School District 6, located about an hour north of Denver, police said. She is reportedly on the run and is currently wanted on several felony charges.

Meza, a secretary who also coached the cross-country team and advised the games club at Franklin Middle School, is accused of grooming an eighth grader by supplying alcohol and drugs, engaging in lewd text exchanges, and arranging multiple meetings at locations including a park and a Walmart parking lot, the New York Post reported, citing the arrest affidavit and local police.

« During the investigation, it was determined Meza engaged in continuous sexual abuse of the minor for several months, » the Greeley Police Department said. « As a result of the investigation, Brenda Meza is currently wanted on several Felony charges. »

LOUISIANA TEACHER ARRESTED FOR ALLEGED INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR WITH A JUVENILE

Authorities said she allegedly became jealous when the boy interacted with female classmates, the Post reported.

In November, the two reportedly began exchanging a series of sexual text messages, which included at least four explicit photos sent by the boy.

The relationship allegedly escalated in January, when Meza and the 13-year-old are accused of engaging in sexual intercourse for the first time in the back seat of her car in a Walmart parking lot, according to the Post. She also allegedly bought marijuana edibles and alcohol for them to consume during the encounter.

Over the following weeks, the pair allegedly repeated similar encounters at least two more times at a local park. She would also allegedly drop the boy home around 9 p.m., the Post reported.

The investigation further revealed that Meza had taken numerous photos of the pair appearing to drink, holding marijuana blunts, and spending time together during after-school activities, the outlet said.

Police reportedly launched an investigation on Feb. 12 after receiving an anonymous tip alleging Meza’s abuse of the teen.

After school officials confronted her, Meza admitted to her husband that she « got high » and had inappropriate interactions with the teen, the affidavit reportedly stated.

The secretary, who began working at the middle school in 2020, was placed on administrative leave and later terminated by Feb. 25, according to a school memo sent by principal Suzette Luster, the Post said.

The district added that it is assisting police in the investigation and stressed that « student safety and security is always our first priority. »

The police department is reportedly seeking to charge her with 12 felony counts — including sexual assault of a child, online enticement of a minor, and tampering with evidence — along with one charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Police are still trying to locate Meza, who authorities say left the area during the investigation and remains at large.

  • Joseph Duggar arrested for allegedly molesting 9-year-old girl during Florida vacation

Joseph Garrett Duggar was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a 9-year-old girl years earlier.

The former « 19 Kids and Counting » star was arrested and charged with molestation of a victim less than 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 years or older, according to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

The alleged victim, now 14, told investigators during a forensic interview that the allegations happened while she was on a vacation to Panama City Beach in Florida with her family in 2020.

During the vacation, the former reality star allegedly asked the girl to sit on his lap, then he asked her to sit next to him and covered both of them with a blanket, the sheriff’s office said in a release.

The office said « Duggar manipulated the victim’s underwear and grazed her genitals. Duggar would also continue to rub his hands on her thighs. »

Duggar later apologized for what he allegedly did to the girl, and it stopped, officials said.

The girl’s father confronted Duggar about the crimes on Tuesday, the sheriff’s office said, adding that Duggar admitted what he had done to him and police.

Duggar, who lives in Arkansas, is awaiting extradition to Florida.

He was booked into jail in Washington County, Arkansas, according to People magazine.

  • GOP blocks Booker-led push to curb Trump’s military authority in Iran

Senate Republicans blocked yet another bid by Senate Democrats to handcuff President Donald Trump’s war authorities in Iran, in what could be an avalanche of similar moves to break through the GOP’s floor takeover.

Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., triggered one of several war powers resolutions Senate Democrats have tucked away in their bid to compel Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth to testify publicly on Trump’s war in Iran.

Booker told Fox News Digital before the vote that he was not thinking « about this in politics » or breaking through the GOP’s floor tactics, but instead to refocus on issues that Trump promised to deal with on the campaign trail.

GOP TRIGGERS MARATHON SENATE FIGHT TO EXPOSE DEMS’ OPPOSITION TO TRUMP-BACKED VOTER ID BILL

« We need to focus on what the issues of the people are, and put before them a president who promised to bring your prices down and keep us out of wars, who is now bringing us into more wars and driving up our prices as a result, » Booker said. « The question is, what should Congress do as a result? »

But, like Sen. Tim Kaine’s, D-Va., attempt earlier this month, Republicans rallied behind the president to block the bill.

Still, Sens. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and nearly every Senate Democrat to curtail Trump’s use of the military in the Middle East. Only Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., broke from Democrats to kill the resolution.

TOM COTTON PUTS BIDEN ON NOTICE WHILE DEMANDING ANSWERS ON DRAINING OF NATION’S OIL STOCKPILE

It likely won’t be the last war powers resolution to hit the floor this week, given that a cohort of Senate Democrats have four others teed up. Their resolutions would direct an immediate end to fighting with Iran and removal of forces in the region.

Republicans have pushed back against Democrats’ demands that Rubio and Hegseth appear on the Hill for hearings and argued that they have consistently briefed lawmakers in classified settings and spoken with the media about the war.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., who has lauded the administration’s continued strikes in Iran, told Fox News Digital that he believed Democrats’ continued use of war powers resolutions was « an abuse of the process, and I’m tired of it. »

DEMOCRATS THREATEN TO GRIND SENATE TO A HALT TO FORCE PUBLIC IRAN HEARINGS

« I think they’re impeding the war effort. We’ve spoken on this, » Graham said. « I find it to be cheap politics. »

Still, Iran’s chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz has emerged as a flashpoint in the conflict, with concerns over oil prices and possible ground troop involvement rising.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said that the nation’s war planners were doing a « masterful job » and kneecapping Iran’s offensive capabilities, and that Trump was well within his authority as president to carry out Operation Epic Fury.

« The Strait of Hormuz, obviously, is an issue that we’re all paying a lot of attention to, » Thune said. « But I feel confident that the administration and those who are leading our military efforts there ultimately will be successful in getting things open up there. »

  • Russia ships fuel to Cuba using ‘spoofing’ tactic challenging Trump embargo: reports

Russia is covertly shipping oil to Cuba using deceptive shipping tactics to bypass U.S. sanctions, according to maritime intelligence reports, and as the island grapples with fuel shortages and power outages.

One alleged delivery came amid one of Cuba’s worst energy crises and ahead of a grid collapse on March 16 which left roughly 10 million people without electricity, according to Cuban authorities and the U.S. Embassy in Cuba.

« The Hong Kong-flagged tanker, which is not sanctioned, has AIS patterns that suggest the tanker spoofed its location and likely sailed to Cuba to discharge its cargo in early March, » Windward AI said.

The Financial Times also reported March 18 that another Russian-flagged tanker, Anatoly Kolodkin, carrying crude oil, was expected to reach Cuba by April 4.

« We are ready to provide all possible assistance, » Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov had told reporters at a briefing on Cuba on March 17, The Moscow Times reported.

PROTESTERS TORCH COMMUNIST PARTY HQ IN CUBA AS VIDEO APPEARS TO CAPTURE GUNFIRE

The alleged shipments came as senior officials at the State Department told Fox News that, under existing law, there are ways for Cuban companies and citizens to purchase oil, but said the Cuban regime is making that impossible.

The U.S. oil embargo prevents the Cuban regime from purchasing oil only, the official confirmed.

Windward AI first identified the tanker, Sea Horse, as the key vessel in the suspected clandestine oil delivery in its report on March 18.

The firm said the vessel was thought to have transported around 190,000 to 200,000 barrels to Cuba while engaging in behavior consistent with sanctions evasion. Although the vessel is not under sanctions, Windward analysts flagged several suspicious activities.

These included switching off its Automatic Identification System (AIS) during a ship-to-ship transfer near Cyprus — where it likely loaded its cargo — and sailing without Western insurance, both common indicators of sanctions circumvention.

The tanker also repeatedly altered its stated destination, initially signaling Havana before changing to « Gibraltar for orders, » a tactic often used to obscure final delivery points.

CUBAN ACTIVIST TO TRUMP: ‘MAKE CUBA GREAT AGAIN’ BY ENDING COMMUNIST RULE

After crossing the Atlantic, it appeared to drift while broadcasting that it was « not under command, » with analysts suggesting its AIS signals may have been manipulated to conceal its true location and activities.

These movements strongly indicate that the vessel may have completed an unreported delivery to Cuba before resuming normal transmissions.

Since Jan. 29, U.S. measures — effectively creating an oil blockade — have disrupted fuel shipments to the island.

The policy shift followed major changes in Venezuela and the arrest of Nicolás Maduro, further tightening supply to Cuba and discouraging other tankers from approaching its ports.

President Donald Trump had warned that countries supplying oil to Cuba could face tariffs, while Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel condemned the measures as an « economic war » and pledged continued resistance in a post shared on X.

« The only way for Cuba to fix its energy crisis is to address the root cause of its economic failures: total government control of economic life, » a U.S. official told Fox News on March 17.

RUSSIA TO SUSPEND FLIGHTS TO CUBA AS TRUMP SANCTIONS CUT FUEL SUPPLY

« The regime must make significant changes, allowing for privatization and for the Cuban people to provide for themselves, » they said.

Otherwise, another senior State Department official said Cuba’s blackouts have « sadly become common for many years in Cuba — a symptom of the failing regime’s incompetence and inability to provide even the most basic goods and services for its people. »

« This is the tragic result of over 60 years of Communist rule. An island that was once the crown jewel of the Caribbean has plunged into extreme poverty and darkness.

« As President Trump has said, what is left of the regime should make a deal and finally let the Cuban people be free and prosperous, with the help of the United States, » the official said.

« Cuba right now is in very bad shape. They’re talking to Marco, » Trump told reporters March 17 before adding that « we’ll be doing something with Cuba very soon. »

  • Sen Mullin gets emotional recounting Trump’s kindness to his son

Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., grew emotional during his Senate Homeland Security nomination hearing as he described how President Donald Trump supported his family after Mullin’s son Jim suffered a severe brain injury in January 2020.

« I’m going to try getting through without crying. It’s not about President Trump. It’s about my son, » Mullin told Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., during what was otherwise a tense hearing, explaining why he is friends with the president that nominated him.

Fighting back tears, Mullin said his son, once a « world-class athlete, » was left unable to walk normally, control his muscles or handle basic tasks after a traumatic brain injury from wrestling. He recalled that Trump called immediately after learning what had happened and stayed in close contact as the family sought treatment, even offering his private plan to travel for healthcare treatment.

« I mean, here’s the president of the United States, and he did it just because he cared, » Mullin concluded to Johnson’s question.

HOUSE GOP LEADER LAUNCHES SENATE BID AS TRUMP TAPS MARKWAYNE MULLIN FOR DHS

« And so when you want to say why he’s a friend. Yeah, we were acquaintances before that. We’ve been friends ever since. »

According to Mullin, Trump offered the use of his personal plane to help the family reach a California neuro-rehabilitation center, then called almost daily for two weeks to check on Jim’s condition. Mullin said Trump later visited Jim in Bakersfield during the middle of the 2020 election campaign, spending time with him despite pressure from aides to leave.

« His team came to him twice and said, ‘sir, we got to go; we got to go,’ » Mullin said. « On the third time they came over to him, he looked at them. He says, ‘Hey, I guarantee you that plane won’t leave without me for the next 15 minutes.’ »

40+ HOUSE REPUBLICANS RALLY BEHIND MARKWAYNE MULLIN FOR DHS, CALL IT A ‘CRITICAL MOMENT’ FOR BORDER SECURITY

« He did nothing but love on my son, » Mullin testified

Trump’s spending time with Mullins son was credited with helping heal, including jump-starting his memory.

« That one incident jogged his memory and from then on he started retaining things, » Mullin continued, sharing a story he had shared before.

« And Jim’s attitude went from this, ‘you know, we’re going to get through it to this.’ I’m going to get through it. »

FETTERMAN BACKS TRUMP’S DHS PICK MULLIN AS ‘NICE UPGRADE’ IN BREAK WITH DEMOCRATS

Mullin went from fearing the worst to getting on the road to recovery, thanks to his son meeting Trump and recognizing the sitting president of the U.S. over his own mother and father.

« We almost lost him, for 26 hours, » Mullin said. « He had an extremely low pulse. There was a time that they thought that they lost his pulse altogether. And when he woke up, he was just different. »

« I mean, here you had a world-class athlete that wrestled all over the world since he was 12 years old, and he couldn’t touch his nose. He couldn’t walk without shuffling his feet. He had short-term memory loss. He couldn’t control his muscles. Couldn’t add five plus three. He was in high school at that time. Had to learn how to read, walk everything. »

MULLIN WINS BACKING FROM CHINA, CUBA HAWKS — AND SOME DEMOCRATS — AS CRITICS QUESTION FITNESS TO LEAD DHS

Trump continued calling regularly to ask how Jim was doing and offered support without seeking publicity.

« And every week, if not most days, the president would call and ask how he could help, » Mullin said. « Ask what? How’s his buddy doing? How’s Jim doing? He didn’t do it for publicity. He didn’t do it for any show. He was running in one of the toughest elections he had been in, and the guy was still that concerned about my son. »

Mullin, a former wrestler himself, nearly broke down in tears during what was otherwise a fiery nomination hearing.

« I hate getting emotional, » Mullin said. « See, if I talk about my kids, I get emotional. Other than that, you can’t make me cry, but my kids … »

« That’s actually a good thing, » Johnson interjected, adding that « the American people need to hear that. »

  • Liberal former NYC mayor admits ‘defund the police,’ Biden border policies were mistakes

In a rare moment of bipartisan agreement, former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio admitted to Sean Hannity that he disagrees with the Democratic Party on key issues.

De Blasio gave the blunt assessment on Thursday’s episode of the « Hang Out with Sean Hannity » podcast. He also said his party « rightfully » deserves the criticism it has faced over the Biden administration’s handling of the southern border.

« In retrospect, the whole concept of ‘defund the police’ made no sense. It made sense to say, how can we do better? » de Blasio said.

In 2020, de Blasio pledged to cut the New York Police Department’s budget by $1 billion following citywide protests. The funds were instead shifted to other agencies focused on youth centers and public housing.

HANNITY TELLS SEN FETTERMAN ‘I HAD YOU ALL WRONG’ IN CANDID APOLOGY ON NEW PODCAST

The former mayor noted that police leaders told him more should be done to give young people positive alternatives, calling it « good for safety » in communities.

Hannity responded with surprise to the admission, saying, « We’re not disagreeing, right? This is amazing. »

« We’re doing good, » de Blasio said, adding, « So ‘defund’ was a mistake. And I understand where it came from, but it was a mistake. »

DEMOCRATS’ DILEMMA: PROGRESSIVE PUSH TO ‘ABOLISH ICE’ SPARKS FRESH DIVIDE IN PARTY

On the border, de Blasio also agreed with Hannity. The former mayor called it « common ground, » saying the Biden administration could have handled the surge at the southern border better.

« I don’t like what Biden did with the border, » de Blasio said.

When pressed on why he never spoke up earlier, he noted that at the time, he didn’t realize the problem was as bad as it was. De Blasio said he reached that conclusion after Biden moved to tighten border policies later in his presidency.

CORTEZ MASTO ADMITS DEMOCRATS HAVE BEEN ‘WEAK ON IMMIGRATION,’ CHIDES BIDEN ADMINISTRATION ON BORDER SECURITY

« When I saw it during Biden’s time, that he was able to reverse course in that final year and tighten up the border — no, I mean, that’s the irony, » said de Blasio, who added that something had « changed » in the administration.

« We, as Democrats, rightfully deserve that critique, » he added.

In 2014, de Blasio significantly strengthened New York City’s sanctuary city status. He signed legislation to prohibit the NYPD and Department of Corrections from honoring detainer requests from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) unless they had a judicial warrant from a federal judge.

Even with a warrant, they would only cooperate if the individual was convicted of a violent crime or serious felony. He also ended ICE’s permanent office at the Rikers Island jail complex.

« Hang Out with Sean Hannity » launched this month on YouTube and Spotify, featuring interviews with Stephen A. Smith, Sen. John Fetterman and NHL star Matthew Tkachuk.

  • Federal judge refuses to recuse himself from Minnesota DHS, ICE case

A federal judge in Minnesota declined to step aside from an immigration-related case despite a conflict-of-interest challenge tied to his spouse’s legal work.

The U.S. Department of Justice plans to appeal the judge’s order, which called the government’s motion « improper, untimely, and lacking merit. »

Last week, the DOJ formally moved to disqualify U.S. District Judge Jeffrey Bryan, arguing his impartiality could reasonably be questioned because his wife serves as Minnesota’s solicitor general under Democrat Attorney General Keith Ellison and is leading a separate lawsuit against federal immigration enforcement actions at issue in Bryan’s courtroom.

In its filing, DOJ emphasized that federal law requires recusal when « a judge’s impartiality might reasonably be questioned, » noting the standard is meant to avoid even « the appearance of partiality » — noting that « public perceptions of partiality can undermine confidence in the courts. »

APPEALS COURT DISMISSES DOJ MISCONDUCT COMPLAINT AGAINST FEDERAL JUDGE

The motion pointed to significant overlap between the habeas case before Bryan and the state’s lawsuit led by his spouse, both of which challenge the legality of « Operation Metro Surge, » a large-scale federal immigration enforcement effort.

According to the filing, both cases allege that federal agents conducted « warrantless arrests, » engaged in « racial profiling, » and « terrorized, assaulted, and harassed » individuals.

DOJ stressed that the issue is not whether Bryan is personally biased, but whether a reasonable observer could question his neutrality given the circumstances.

« The Court must consider whether the public might reasonably question Judge Bryan’s impartiality, » U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen’s filing concluded.

The department also noted that Bryan « did not disclose his marriage relationship » to the parties, arguing that disclosure is a prerequisite for any waiver of potential conflicts under federal law.

Judge Bryan denied the recusal request, allowing himself to remain on the case. The DOJ has indicated it will appeal that decision, setting up a potential higher court review of the recusal standards and their application in politically charged immigration litigation.

The dispute comes amid broader legal battles over Operation Metro Surge, which plaintiffs claim involved unconstitutional enforcement tactics, while federal officials have defended it as a lawful exercise of immigration authority.

Fox News’ David Spunt contributed to this report.
