  • Transportation Sec Sean Duffy says FAA systems are ‘antiquated,’ calls for more air traffic controllers

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy says that many of the Federal Aviation Administration’s systems remain « antiquated » and are in need of updates amid a « plummet » in recruitment for air traffic controllers.

Duffy made the statement during an appearance on « Fox News Sunday » with host Shannon Bream. The Trump administration official affirmed that America’s skies remain the safest in the world, but he also said major changes could be made to improve the FAA’s systems.

« We have the safest skies in the whole world. Traveling by air is the safest mode of transportation, » Duffy said. « It’s not just air traffic controllers, but we do have technologies on airplanes to keep them separated. So, yeah, no, this is the safest system. »

Duffy went on to say that the U.S. system « does need to be upgraded. » He also noted an outage of the FAA’s pilot warning system, the « Notice to Air Mission » or NOTAM system, on Saturday night, calling it « antiquated. »

VICTIMS IDENTIFIED IN DC PLANE CRASH INVOLVING AMERICAN AIRLINES JET AND MILITARY HELICOPTER

The FAA imposes a mandatory retirement age of 55 for air traffic controllers, causing a large amount of turnover. Duffy noted that the FAA’s training academy was bottlenecked during COVID-19, causing small class sizes and delaying the process as trainees could not get in-person experience at control towers.

HARROWING VIDEO FROM MILITARY BASE SHOWS NEW ANGLE OF MIDAIR CRASH CATASTROPHE

He said he is focusing on training a new generation of recruits.

« You can’t focus on diversity, equity and inclusion when you try to hire air traffic controllers, you focus on the best and brightest, » Duffy told Bream. « I mean, again, some people like me like to have this conversation around equity. But if it’s your pilots or if it’s your air traffic controllers, you want the best. You want the brightest protecting yourself and your family. That’s what we’re going to do with the department. »

Duffy’s statements come after two aviation disasters struck the U.S., including the collision of a military Blackhawk helicopter with an American Airlines jet in Washington, D.C., last week. A private plane also plummeted out of the sky in Pennsylvania this weekend.

Investigations are ongoing for both crashes. Duffy said he is particularly interested in the communications that the control tower at Reagan National Airport had with both the jet and the helicopter in last week’s crash.

« What happened in the tower? What was going on with the staffing? What should have been done and what was done? What was the language that was used by the air traffic controller? Was it appropriate? Did they appropriately direct traffic consistent with procedures at the FAA? » Duffy asked.

  • Don’t fall for the Elon Musk energy-saving device scam

Elon Musk, known for leading companies like Tesla, SpaceX, Neuralink and X.AI and buying and rebranding Twitter as X, often finds his name linked to innovation and futuristic ideas. But his reputation also makes him a prime target for scammers.

In the past, fraudsters have used Musk’s name in cryptocurrency schemes. Now, a new scam is making the rounds. This time, scammers are promoting bogus « energy-saving » devices, falsely associating Musk with these products to gain credibility. These devices, which don’t work as advertised, are being marketed as revolutionary solutions, duping people into spending money on what is essentially a scam.

We received this email from Rick in Wilkesboro, North Carolina:

« I’ve been receiving emails offering an energy-saving device developed by Elon Musk. It claims the device can reduce energy bills by 50%. I never attempted to contact anyone associated with Elon Musk, nor have I done any internet searches for such a device. Are these emails legit or another attempt by scammers hoping I click on their links? »

GET SECURITY ALERTS, EXPERT TIPS – SIGN UP FOR KURT’S NEWSLETTER – THE CYBERGUY REPORT HERE

Rick, it sounds like those emails are likely scams. There have been numerous reports of scammers using Elon Musk’s name to promote fake energy-saving devices. These scams often claim that the device can drastically reduce energy bills, but there is no evidence that Elon Musk or any of his companies are involved in such products.

Let’s dive into how this scam works and share some ways you can stay safe.

The Elon Musk energy-saving scam works by using flashy online ads, unsolicited emails and other deceptive tactics to lure victims. Scammers promote so-called « revolutionary » devices through social media, pop-ups, emails and even search engine ads, claiming the products are backed by Musk.

These ads often include fake customer reviews, exaggerated claims of slashing electricity bills by 50% or more and time-limited discounts to create urgency. Names of devices advertised in these scams include the Power Pro Save, Heunwa Power Save, Stop Watt, Miracle Watt, True Watt, Real Watt, Watt Rescue, Esaver Watt, Pro Power Save, Voltmod and more.

Clicking on these ads leads you to sales websites designed to look legitimate. They feature fake logos, doctored before-and-after photos and bogus celebrity endorsements to build trust. The sites throw around pseudo-scientific jargon like « stabilizing electrical currents » or « rebalancing loads » to sound convincing. They also use tactics like showing inflated « regular » prices crossed out to make the current offer seem like a huge bargain.

If you look closely, though, the red flags are clear. These sites lack basic details like a company address, contact number or business registration information. Instead, they push you to place an order through an online form, demanding full payment upfront via credit card or PayPal.

After paying, customers might receive a cheap, non-functional plastic device, or sometimes nothing at all. These devices don’t reduce electricity usage. They might even waste more power. But by the time you realize it, the scammers have already pocketed your money.

DON’T CLICK THAT LINK! HOW TO SPOT AND PREVENT PHISHING ATTACKS IN YOUR INBOX

Over the years, plenty of power-saving scams have promised to cut down or even eliminate your electricity bill by simply plugging in their devices. The reality is that there’s no device you can plug in that will actually reduce your electricity usage or lower your household bill.

These products often claim to « stabilize voltage » or « reduce power waste. » While voltage stabilization can be useful in industrial settings, it doesn’t make much difference for typical home appliances. Most household appliances are already designed to run efficiently without the issues these devices claim to fix.

If you’re serious about saving on electricity, focus on practical solutions like upgrading to energy-efficient appliances, using smart home devices or adjusting your energy usage schedule.

    WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)?

SNEAKY SCAMMERS DRAIN BANK ACCOUNT IN SINISTER PHONE PHISHING SCHEME

Too good to be true: Claims of reducing energy bills by 50% or more are often exaggerated and unrealistic.

Unsolicited emails: Receiving emails out of the blue, especially when you haven’t shown interest in such products, is a common tactic used by scammers.

Use of celebrity names: Scammers frequently use well-known names like Elon Musk to lend credibility to their schemes.

Suspicious links: Be cautious of clicking on links in unsolicited emails. They can lead to phishing sites designed to steal your personal information. Get my picks for the best 2025 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices.

    1. Verify the email: Phishing emails are a common tool scammers use to trick people into buying fake products or giving away personal information. These emails often look like they’re from legitimate sources, but they contain links that lead to fraudulent websites or prompt you to download malicious attachments. Always check the sender’s email address and look for signs of a fake message, like poor grammar or urgent calls to action.

    2. Verify claims: If you’re curious about a product, do some research from reputable sources before taking any action.

    3. Do not click links: Avoid clicking on any links or downloading attachments from these emails. Instead, hover over the link to see its true destination. This can help you identify if it leads to a legitimate site or a malicious one.

    4. Have strong antivirus software actively running on your devices: Ensure you have reliable antivirus software installed on your devices. Antivirus software helps protect your devices from malware, viruses and other security threats. Regularly update the software to ensure it can detect and remove the latest threats. Get my picks for the best 2025 antivirus protection winners for your Windows, Mac, Android and iOS devices.

    5. Examine the website carefully: Scammers often create websites that look professional, but they’re easy to spot with a few simple checks. Look for missing or suspicious information, like the absence of a business address, phone number or business registration details. If there are fake testimonials or celebrity endorsements, that’s a red flag.

GET FOX BUSINESS ON THE GO BY CLICKING HERE

    6. Don’t fall for « too good to be true » deals: Scammers rely on offering deals that seem too good to pass up, like massive discounts or a « limited time offer. » If an ad claims you can save 50% or more on a product, be skeptical. Real, quality products usually don’t come with such extreme savings, and high-tech devices like those promoted by scammers rarely live up to the hype. If it feels like too good a deal, it probably is.

    7. Watch out for unusual payment methods: One of the easiest ways to spot a scam is by how the scammers ask you to pay. If a website asks for payment upfront via credit card or PayPal with no option to verify or ship the product first, it’s a major red flag. Scammers take your money upfront and have no intention of sending you anything of value. Stick to reputable payment methods that offer buyer protection, and avoid sites that ask for payment without proper verification.

    8. Mark spam email as junk or spam: Most email providers have a feature that allows you to flag spam emails and move them to a separate folder. This can help you filter out spam emails from your inbox and also improve the spam detection of your email provider.

    9. Do not share your email address publicly or with unknown sources: This can reduce the chances of your email address being collected by spammers. You can also use a disposable email or email alias for signing up for online services that you do not trust or need.

    10. Use a personal data removal service: Scammers can obtain your information from various online sources, including data brokers, people search sites and public records. Using a data removal service can help reduce your digital footprint, making it harder for scammers to access your personal information. This proactive step can be crucial in preventing identity theft and minimizing the chances of falling victim to scams.

While no service promises to remove all your data from the internet, having a removal service is great if you want to constantly monitor and automate the process of removing your information from hundreds of sites continuously over a longer period of time. Check out my top picks for data removal services here.

YOUR EMAIL DIDN’T EXPIRE, IT’S JUST ANOTHER SNEAKY SCAM

Impersonation scams are a common way scammers steal your money. They often use well-known names like Elon Musk or big companies like Microsoft and Walmart to make you trust them, then trick you into giving away your financial details. To stay safe, avoid unsolicited emails or texts that promote products or offers. If you need to buy something, stick to trusted sellers like Amazon, Best Buy or other reputable platforms. Always double-check the legitimacy of any offer before making a purchase, especially if it comes from an unfamiliar source.

  • Lakers, Mavericks pull off wild blockbuster as Luka Dončić, Anthony Davis swap teams: reports

The NBA world was hit with perhaps the craziest trade in a generation in the wee hours of Sunday morning.

According to multiple reports, the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks came to an agreement to swap Luka Dončić and Anthony Davis as part of a three-team blockbuster deal.

The Lakers received Dončić, Maxi Kleber, and Markieff Morris, while the Mavericks took on Davis, Max Christie, and Los Angeles’ 2029 first-round pick.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

To settle it all out, the Utah Jazz acquired Jalen Hood-Schifino and two second-round picks.

ESPN’s Shams Charania broke the trade early Sunday morning, and because of the starpower involved, the immediate reaction was that the reporter had been hacked. However, it was later confirmed by multiple other outlets.

Charania reported that the Mavs approached Los Angeles recently, saying their 25-year-old global superstar was available via trade; Dallas general manager Nico Harrison told ESPN that he was concerned about the team’s defense, which is now massively improved by replacing Dončić with Davis.

2024-25 NBA CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS: THUNDER FAVORED; LAKERS RISE AFTER DONČIĆ TRADE

But Dončić is a phenomenon, and a young one at that. The Slovenian led the NBA with 33.4 points per game last season and won’t turn 26 until later this month. In his career, he averages 28.6 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 8.3 assists, putting himself in the MVP conversation every year of his young career.

It was also reported that LeBron James did not find out about the trade until shortly before the news broke, while he was out to dinner in New York shortly after his Lakers defeated the New York knicks – Davis was ruled inactive for the game.

Davis, a defensive player of the year candidate last year, is putting up 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds this season, both slightly better than his career averages of 24.2 and 10.7.

The Mavericks lost in the NBA Finals last year, and Dončić received some criticism for his defense and attitude. Perhaps there is more to the story than what’s public right now.

  • Ottawa Senators fans boo USA national anthem after Trump issues tariffs

When Canadian and American teams face off against one another, it is commonplace for both countries’ national anthems to be played or performed.

That was the case at Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa, when the Minnesota Wild visited the Senators for an NHL bout.

The visiting team’s anthem is normally performed first, as was the case on Saturday night.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

But, before the home crowd heard its own anthem, they let out boos at the end of « The Star-Spangled Banner. »

The game came on the same day that President Donald Trump signed an executive order, which will go into effect Tuesday, consisting of a 25% additional tariff on imports from Canada and Mexico and a 10% tariff on imports from China.

Energy resources from Canada will have a lower 10% tariff, according to the White House. In a statement obtained by Fox News Saturday, the Trump administration said the order is in response to an « extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs, including deadly fentanyl, (that) constitutes a national emergency. »

Ahead of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announcing his resignation, Trump said he would « love » if Canada could become the « 51st state. »

On their four-game homestand that wrapped up following their TK victory, the Senators hosted all USA teams – there are seven Canadian teams in the National Hockey League and 25 teams based in the states.

The Senators will kick off a four-game U.S. road trip against the Nashville Predators, Tampa Bay Lightning (two games), and Florida Panthers before returning home on Feb. 22 to host the Montreal Canadiens.

The long layover comes due to the upcoming 4 Nations tournament featuring the USA, Canada, Finland and Sweden.

Dick Van Dyke recently admitted that his beloved sitcom had a rough start.

When asked how « The Dick Van Dyke Show » was created, the 99-year-old actor shared that he nearly lost his famous show after facing tough competition from another Hollywood star.

« I was doing ‘Bye, Bye Birdie’ for a year, and the pilot came up . . . my agent told me it was between me and Johnny Carson, » he shared on Ted Danson’s « Where Everybody Knows Your Name » podcast.

  • PETA proposes a ‘weather reveal’ cake for Groundhog Day in place of Punxsutawney Phil

PETA is proposing a « weather reveal » cake in place of groundhog Punxsutawney Phil on Groundhog Day this year.

The organization, known for its animal advocacy, believes that Phil is being exploited on the annual winter holiday. In response, they sent a letter to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club, asking them to let Phil retire ahead of this year’s celebration on February 2.

Instead of Phil, PETA has offered to send a vegan « weather reveal » cake, similar to a gender reveal cake, each Groundhog Day. The proposed cake when cut would show one of two colors: blue, signifying six more weeks of winter, or pink, indicating an early spring.

PETA CALLS OUT NYC MAYOR FOR ‘VILLAINIZING RATS’

PETA President Ingrid Newkirk explained her offer in the letter: « Retire Phil to a reputable sanctuary with his family, and every year we’ll provide a giant vegan ‘Weather Reveal’ cake (it would be the first in the world this year) to share with revelers at Gobbler’s Knob. »

« If the inside of the cake is blue, there will be six more weeks of winter. If it’s pink, there will be an early spring, » she added. « This would allow you to still make tourism dough while showing Phil a slice of decency. It would be as least as accurate as asking a groundhog what to expect in a way that doesn’t even reflect his nature. »

She reiterated that they « batter believe » that Groundhog Day is no piece of cake for Phil.

« Groundhogs are shy prey animals who, when allowed, actively avoid humans, » she said. « Yet, year after year, Phil is transported to Gobbler’s Knob, whisked on stage, and subjected to a noisy announcer, screaming crowds, and flashing lights against all his natural instincts. »

« If approached in his natural habitat, he would run away in fear, not volunteer to live year-round in captivity, unable to do anything that’s natural and important to him like hibernate or burrow—just to be a town’s once-a-year fake meteorologist, » she added.

This isn’t the first time PETA has tried to remove Phil from the festivities. In 2023, the group offered to replace him with an enormous, golden, weather-predicting coin.

  • Israel’s Netanyahu departs for US to meet with Trump, hoping to strengthen ties with Washington

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left for the U.S. on Sunday to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump, looking to strengthen ties with the U.S. government following tensions with the Biden administration over the war in Gaza.

Netanyahu departed for Washington amid the ceasefire with Hamas – which includes hostage releases – still in effect and negotiations for a second phase expected to begin this week. He will be the first foreign leader to visit Trump since his inauguration on Jan. 20.

« The fact that this will be his first meeting with a leader of a foreign country since his inauguration holds great significance for the State of Israel, » Netanyahu said in a statement.

HAMAS RELEASES 3 MORE HOSTAGES, INCLUDING US CITIZEN, AS PART OF FRAGILE CEASEFIRE DEAL

« First of all, it indicates the strength of the alliance between Israel and the United States. Secondly, it also reflects the strength of our connection; a connection that has already yielded great things for the State of Israel and the region, and has also brought about the historic peace agreements between Israel and four Arab countries – the ‘Abraham Accords’ that President Trump led, » the prime minister continued.

This comes nearly 16 months after the war in Gaza began, prompted by Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack against Israel, leading to military retaliation from Israeli forces.

ISRAELI WOMAN BRAVELY DESCRIBES HORROR AS HAMAS HOSTAGE: ‘THEY WERE TAKING PLEASURE IN HURTING ME’

« The decisions we made during the war, combined with the bravery of our IDF soldiers, have already changed the face of the Middle East, » Netanyahu said. « They have changed it beyond recognition. I believe that with hard work alongside President Trump, we can change it even more for the better. »

« Our decisions and the courage of our soldiers have redrawn the map. But I believe that working closely with President Trump, we can redraw it even further and for the better, » he added.

Netanyahu and former U.S. President Joe Biden experienced tension in their relationship during the last administration in Washington, and the Israeli prime minister has not visited the White House since returning to office at the end of 2022.

« We can strengthen Israel’s security, we can expand the circle of peace even further, and we can bring about a wonderful era that we never dreamed of. An era of prosperity, security, and peace from a position of strength, » Netanyahu said. « The strength of our soldiers, the strength of our citizens, the strength of Israel, and the strength of the alliance between Israel and the United States. »

  • Washington state lawmakers propose requiring speed limiting devices in cars of drivers with speeding history

A bill introduced in the Washington state legislature would require drivers with a history of speeding to have a speed limiting device placed on their cars.

House Bill 1596 was proposed after supporters say an increase in fatal accidents was caused by speeding. The bill was heard in the House Transportation Committee on Thursday and would require an « intelligent speed assistance device » to be installed in the cars of certain drivers, according to Fox 13.

The device limits the speed of the car using GPS technology to follow the speed limit where the vehicle is being driven. These drivers could exceed the speed limit up to three times a month.

A driver would have the device on their car if they have a new restricted license established by the bill. This is similar to how ignition interlock devices are used for people with a history of drunk driving.

Drivers would also receive the device during the probation period after their license was suspended for racing or « excessive speeding, » which is defined as driving at least 20 miles per hour over the speed limit. Drivers could also be ordered by a court to have a speed-limiting device on their car.

« We’re losing Washingtonians and family members are losing loved ones unnecessarily, tragically and preventably, » Democrat state Rep. Mari Leavitt, a prime sponsor of the bill, said.

« These aren’t accidents, » she added. « They’re intentionally folks choosing behavior that is harming and often killing folks. »

According to data in 2023 from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission, one in three fatal crashes in the state involved a speeding driver. The total number of fatal crashes and the number involving speeding has been trending upward since 2019.

« Between 2019 and 2024, tickets to speeding drivers in excess of 50 miles an hour over the speed limit increased by 200%, » the commission’s Shelly Baldwin testified. « So we know that this is an increasing problem that we’ve been dealing with. »

Republican state Rep. Gloria Mendoza questioned how the bill helps keep people safe by allowing speeders to continue driving.

« So we’re trying to help them get back their license by giving them this tool, » Mendoza said. « So how is this helping save lives? »

Leavitt responded: « We want to find a way for them to be able to drive lawfully, but safely. And having them on the road in a safe manner is going to save lives, because they’re driving anyway, and they’re driving fast. And this device, these speed limiters, are going to ensure that they can’t. »

The bill has not yet been scheduled for a vote out of committee.

  • Super Bowl party dishes inspired by host city New Orleans

New Orleans is the host city of this year’s Super Bowl — and if you’re throwing a party to celebrate the big game, you may want to incorporate some of the Big Easy’s culinary flavors into your offerings.

Fox News Digital reached out to chefs in New Orleans for some dishes that are sure to score a touchdown at Super Bowl parties this year.

Whether you’re rooting for the Kansas City Chiefs or the Philadelphia Eagles, adding these Creole seasonings, seafood dishes, spicy bites and more can send your party spread soaring and leave a mark on your guests.

HOW TO WATCH SUPER BOWL LIX BETWEEN CHIEFS, EAGLES STREAMED ON TUBI

Here are four dishes to consider.

This comforting favorite can feed a crowd of football fans.

With shrimp, blue crabs, shucked oysters, chopped vegetables, seafood stock and more, this dish was created by Donald Link, a James Beard Award-winning chef with the New Orleans-based Link Restaurant Group — which includes Herbsaint, Cochon, Cochon Butcher, Calcasieu, Pêche, La Boulangerie and Giannacan.

« Growing up in southwest Louisiana, there was always a pot of gumbo simmering on Super Bowl Sunday, » Link told Fox News Digital.

EAGLES FAN FAVORITE IS PHILADELPHIA’S SIGNATURE SANDWICH, NO PEPPERS INCLUDED

The gumbo can be prepared while you’re watching the pregame coverage.

Then, once the guests arrive — serve it up and catch their winning reactions.

NOT JUST FOR KIDS: NFL PLAYERS LOVE A SURPRISING CHILDHOOD SNACK FOR ‘FANS OF ALL AGES’

Relying on sweet, sautéed onions and a rich sour cream-mascarpone base, this party dip is delicious and can be served with potato chips or spicy cheddar crackers, Link said.

This dip comes together by combining ingredients such as onions, mascarpone, mayonnaise, sour cream and a spice blend found in most pantries.

KANSAS CITY HOME TO AMERICA’S BEST BARBECUE, CHEFS CLAIM: ‘OUR VARIETY MAKES US UNIQUE’

« I grew up with an extremely large extended family, so you could always expect to see rooms covered in deviled eggs, boudin, chips and onion dip around the room and, of course, a lot of bowls of gumbo, especially after our annual football game with my uncles, » Link recalled.

It’s a tradition he’s carried on for 37 years, he said.

« One year, I actually gave up Super Bowl tickets because I couldn’t stand the idea of not making my gumbo and canceling the annual party. »

Ryan Pearson, executive chef at Couvant inside The Eliza Jane hotel in New Orleans, told Fox News Digital that chicken wings with a Big Easy spin can be a party favorite.

THIS NFL CITY HAS THE COUNTRY’S BEST CHOWDER, RESTAURANT OWNER PROCLAIMS

« Chicken wings with a sauce made from reduced Crystal Hot Sauce, honey and butter are, simply put, delicious, » Pearson said.

« The dish is using beloved southern ingredients, so it feels elevated without being too much work. »

The southern twist uses Crystal Hot Sauce, which has been a New Orleans staple since 1923.

« My mom used to say, ‘Add Tabasco for heat. Add Crystal for flavor,’ » the New Orleans chef said.

A change of play on a burger creates a cool party dish that pays tribute to the culinary fame of New Orleans.

Mark Bucher, a « Taste of the NFL » chef, restaurateur and owner of Medium Rare in New Orleans, uses Andouille sausage to elevate this festive dish, he said.

Some cocoa powder, cinnamon and hot picks like chili powder and cloves create a stirring flavor combination, said Bucher.

The burger sauce can be blended from a few pantry condiments on hand — but the final play is adding Frito’s on top for the crunch, he added.

« Chili is a tailgate classic but adding it to a burger turns up the flavor while keeping it fun and accessible, » Bucher told Fox News Digital.

« With the savory heat from the Andouille sausage and the tangy punch from the vinegar and spices, these burgers are built to hold up against a day of game-watching. It’s that perfect mix of hearty, satisfying comfort and big flavor that makes it the ideal dish for a Super Bowl party. »

The burger sauce also adds a bit of tang and crunch to balance the richness of the chili, he said.

  • Billy Ray Cyrus’ inauguration stumble reignites years of household drama: Who’s who in the famous family

It’s been nearly two weeks since Billy Ray Cyrus stumbled onstage during a performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration celebration. Since then, fans and family members have voiced concerns about the « Achy Breaky Heart » crooner, questioning his health and stability.

On Jan. 23, Billy Ray’s adopted son, Trace, wrote a message on Instagram, expressing his family’s worry and asking his father to seek help.

A few days later, Billy Ray seemingly responded to Trace’s public plea, saying he continues to pray for his children and their mother.

BILLY RAY CYRUS EXPLAINS TRUMP INAUGURAL BALL PERFORMANCE THAT CONCERNED FANS

« Let this moment be the start of healing for us all, » he wrote on Instagram.

The public feuding is nothing new for the Cyrus clan. As a prominent family in the music industry, each member, including Billy Ray, ex-wife Tish, and their children — Trace, Brandi, Miley, Braison and Noah, — have experienced various forms of betrayal and heartache, all while navigating the chaos in the public eye.

Here’s a look at the Cyrus family and the drama that has unfolded throughout the years.

From allegations of abuse to public rifts with his children, the patriarch of the Cyrus family has had his share of ups and downs.

Billy Ray married Tish Cyrus in 1992. The musician adopted Tish’s children, Trace and his older sister, Brandi, at the time. The couple later welcomed children Miley Cyrus, Braison Cyrus and Noah Cyrus before their divorce in 2022. The singer is also father to Christopher Cyrus with ex-wife Kristin Luckey.

After announcing his divorce from Tish in April 2022, Billy Ray got engaged to Firerose, whose real name Johanna Rosie Hodges, that August.

BILLY RAY CYRUS CLAIMS ESTRANGED WIFE BEGGED HIM TO TAKE HER BACK AFTER NASTY SPLIT

« Everyone knew that that relationship was over a long time ago, » Billy Ray told People magazine of his split from Tish. « Everybody’s turning the page. It’s been a lot, but everyone knew that it was time for a change. »

Billy Ray and Firerose married in October 2023. The following May, Billy Ray filed for an annulment, citing « irreconcilable differences » and alleged « inappropriate marital conduct » in documents obtained by Fox News Digital at the time.

Toward the end, both claimed they were victims of abuse in their marriage.

Earlier this month, Billy Ray sparked concern after a confusing performance at Trump’s inauguration celebration Jan. 20.

In a statement to People magazine the next day, he said, « I wouldn’t have missed the honor of playing this event whether my microphone, guitar and monitors worked or not. I was there because President Donald J. Trump invited me.

« I had a ball at the Liberty Ball last night, and I’ve learned through all these years when the producer says, ‘You’re on,’ you go entertain the folks even if the equipment goes to hell. I was there for the people, and we had a blast. That’s called rock n’ roll!!! »

Tish’s relationship with Billy Ray had its flaws throughout their marriage. The Cyrus family matriarch and Billy Ray had previously gone through two divorce filings before officially calling it quits in 2022.

In April 2022, Tish filed for divorce, citing « irreconcilable differences. »

« It is after 30 years, five amazing children and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts, » Tish and Billy Ray said in a joint statement to People at the time. « We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of and it is now time to create our own paths.

« We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents. We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly, but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important, With Love and Hopec… Tish and Billy Ray Cyrus. »

Tish, who has been daughter Miley’s manager for years, tied the knot with actor Dominic Purcell a year later. The wedding sparked rumors of a family feud when fans noticed her children, Noah and Braison, weren’t in attendance.

Noah, who was reported to have casually dated Purcell before Tish, and Braison allegedly spent their mother’s wedding day together at Walmart, where Noah wore a Billy Ray shirt and posted a cryptic message about loving her father to her Instagram story.

Miley, 32, and Billy Ray starred on the Disney Channel teen sitcom « Hannah Montana » for four seasons, from 2006 to 2011.

In a 2011 interview with GQ, Billy Ray said the show « destroyed » his family.

« I’ll tell you right now — the damn show destroyed my family. And I sit there and go, ‘Yeah, you know what? Some gave all.’ It is my motto, and guess what? I have to eat that one. I some-gave-all’d it all right. I some-gave-all’d it while everybody else was going to the bank. It’s all sad. »

When asked if he « wished ‘Hannah Montana’ never happened, » he said, « I hate to say it, but yes, I do. Yeah. I’d take it back in a second. For my family to be here and just everybody be OK, safe and sound and happy and normal, would have been fantastic. Heck, yeah. I’d erase it all in a second if I could. »

Miley found success as an award-winning recording artist, winning her first Grammy in 2024. However, the family drama continues to affect her in various ways.

« The divorce between her parents has put a strain on her relationship with her dad, and it’s been hard to connect with him in the last year, » a source previously told E! News. « She hopes they can eventually work on their relationship. »

MILEY CYRUS’ FAME FROM BILLY RAY’S DAUGHTER TO DISNEY, ‘PUSHING SEXUAL BOUNDARIES,’ TOPLESS PHOTO DRAMA

In her Hulu special, « Endless Summer Vacation: Continued (Backyard Sessions), » Miley made a rare comment about her dad and explained how fame affected them.

« I think that’s where me and my dad’s relationship to fame and success is wildly different, » she said. « Him feeling loved by a big audience impacted him emotionally more than it ever could me. When he feels special or important, it’s like healing a childhood wound, and I’ve always been made to feel like a star. It makes me emotional [to think about]. »

Trace, a musician who lives in Nashville, has had his share of public struggles with addiction. Now over a year sober, Trace made a plea to his father after his inaugural performance sparked concern.

« Since my earliest memories all I can remember is being obsessed with you and thinking you were the coolest person ever, » he wrote on Instagram after Billy Ray’s performance. « I wanted to be just like you. The day you adopted me was the happiest day of my life. Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now. It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. »

Trace continued, saying he and « the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away.

« We haven’t talked in a while but I’m over a year and half clean from alcohol. Guess what? I feel amazing, » he added. « I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help. You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you. »

Noah, the youngest of the Cyrus family, has never been one to shy away from speaking her mind.

In 2022, shortly after her parents’ divorce, the singer-songwriter released a song titled « Noah (Stand Still) » with the help of her father.

Billy Ray expressed his joy at his daughter’s strength and resilience after releasing the song, and Noah responded by calling her dad « my hero and inspiration. »

Noah’s relationship with her mother, Tish, has not been as smooth.

Noah was seemingly caught in a love triangle after Tish married Dominic Purcell, who Noah reportedly had a casual relationship with before he began dating Tish.

Noah is now in a new relationship, engaged to fashion designer Pinkus.

Braison Cyrus has mostly stayed out of the public eye. However, recently he’s been in his dad’s corner.

« I’ve spent this past year getting to know my dad better than I ever have, » Braison, who is working on his dad’s forthcoming album, said in a press release. « I’ve heard stories, jokes and songs that I don’t think anyone else has.

« It’s an opportunity to tell my dad’s story through music, and I’m fortunate to be able to take it. Music, stories and family are the most important things to my dad, so to bring the two together is a full-circle endeavor. »

MILEY CYRUS SAYS BILLY RAY SEES FAME ‘WILDLY DIFFERENT’: ‘I’VE ALWAYS BEEN MADE TO FEEL LIKE A STAR’

However, Trace recently called out his little brother for seemingly enabling his dad.

One fan recently inquired about the relationship on Trace’s Instagram page, writing, « Braison is posting your dad is happy and healthy. I’m confused »

Trace responded by writing, « Birds of a feather flock together. »

Brandi, the oldest of the bunch, has mostly remained by her mother’s side throughout the years.

During an appearance on the « Call Her Daddy » podcast in 2024 with Tish, the two firmly disputed Billy Ray’s past comments about how « Hannah Montana » ruined their family.

« Absolutely not, » Tish said when asked if she agreed with Billy Ray’s assertion that the Cyrus family had been « destroyed » by the show.

« Not at all, » Brandi agreed. « I mean the family’s not destroyed, first of all. We’re doing great. »

« No, I just think he was having a moment, » Tish said.

  • Grammy nominee Post Malone’s country music challenges traditional stereotypes: expert

Post Malone’s gone country, and it’s challenging « traditional country stereotypes, » according to one music expert.

The star’s genre shift landed him five of eight Grammys nominations. The artist is up for best recording package with his album « F-1 Trillion, » and best country album.

His song featuring Morgan Wallen, « I Had Some Help, » was nominated for best country song and best country duo/group performance. Meanwhile, the rapper’s country collaboration with Beyoncé, « Levii’s Jeans, » was nominated for best pop duo/group performance.

« F-1 Trillion » also features a handful of big-name country artists, including Wallen, Dolly Parton, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Brad Paisley, Chris Stapleton, Lainey Wilson and Jelly Roll.

RAPPER-TURNED-COUNTRY ARTIST POST MALONE CREDITS DAUGHTER FOR SAVING HIS LIFE

The singer’s decision to align himself with country stars already at the top of the charts « generally fast-tracks » a transition, according to branding expert Doug Eldridge.

« When compared to ‘country western’ of 40 years ago, modern country is more up-tempo and pop-infused but still built around a core group of relatable issues: love, loss, faith, family and America, » Eldridge told Fox News Digital. « It’s arguably never been a better time for Malone — or anyone else — to dip their toes in the warm waters of country music. »

COUNTRY MUSIC WORLD STANDS BY MORGAN WALLEN DESPITE ROLLER-COASTER YEAR

Post Malone debuted his country album, « F-1 Trillion, » Aug. 16, days after he performed for the first time at the Grand Ole Opry. The singer was introduced by country star Brad Paisley, who is featured on Post Malone’s single, « Goes Without Saying. »

However, Post Malone’s country reinvention has been « in the making for years, » according to industry expert Lyric Mandell, co-founder of artist development and media management firm Tutti Agency.

« Since 2015, Post Malone has hinted at his eventual dive into country and folk music, once tweeting that he would fully embrace the genre by the time he turned 30, » Mandell explained to Fox News Digital.

« Now, just under 30 and true to his word, he continues to lean into personal narratives that have always defined his music, like struggle and nostalgia, while leaning into country music’s emotional core and killer collaborators. The transition doesn’t feel forced because it isn’t; it’s a logical next step rather than a trend-chasing pivot that has been in the making for nearly a decade.=

« From a media theory perspective, Post Malone’s shift mirrors the shifting landscape of country music, where artists like Jelly Roll and now Post Malone are challenging traditional country stereotypes, » she added. « The genre is embracing a rawer, more diverse group of artists who blur the lines between country, rock and hip-hop. This shift creates the perfect conditions for Post Malone’s crossover to feel both innovative and organic. »

Post Malone hasn’t completely changed his tune. He worked alongside pop star Taylor Swift in 2024 to release « Fortnight, » which has also been nominated for multiple Grammys. The duet is up for song of the year, record of the year and best music video.

« Genres suck, » Post Malone previously told The New York Times. « It’s easier to catalog music that way. But at a certain point — and the cool thing is that it’s moving towards this — why can’t you mix all this together and make something that’s truly unique to you? »

The move « reflects a broader trend of genre-bending » in today’s music industry, Mandell said.

« For him, this transition doesn’t feel like an abrupt evolution or total reinvention, but rather a natural shift. His music has always been rooted in the storytelling traditions that are fundamental to both genres. »

Post Malone’s country reinvention began in his personal life. The rapper moved from Los Angeles to Utah in 2019.

« I love living here in Cottonwood Heights, » Malone previously said in a video shared by the city. « It’s the most amazing place ever, and I have had such a great time over these years, and I love you guys, too. »

The singer has become a part of the community, performing at the NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City in 2023. Post Malone also helped design a Raising Cane’s restaurant in Utah’s Midvale.

  • Famed NFL agent Leigh Steinberg looking to combat concussion dangers with new foundation

American sports agent Leigh Steinberg has represented some of the biggest stars in football history, and now he’s taking another step in his long-time side passion of combating one of the sports’ biggest dangers – concussions.

Steinberg recently launched the Leigh Steinberg Foundation, which aims to educate parents and fund research for concussion treatment in sports.

« It’s our effort to raise money for research to promote awareness, prevention and cures, to put money aside for at-risk kids who have neurological problems or concussion that can’t get treatment, and to fund research, » Steinberg said. « We have a doctor’s committee with 10 doctors on it, and we’ll be raising money to try and bring more healing to this. »

The veteran agent is also set to throw a Super Bowl party in New Orleans, and is inviting several neurologists from across the country to educate the attendees on concussions as well.

And as Super Bowl LIX marks the final game of the 2024 football season, the country will look to turn the page on one of the scariest years for brain injuries in recent history.

In Alabama, Morgan Academy junior quarterback Caden Tellier received an injury to the head during the third quarter of his team’s 30-22 win against Southern Academy in Selma, Alabama, in late August.

Just days after that, a 13-year-old in West Virginia died after suffering a head injury at a middle school football practice. Eighth-grader Cohen Craddock, who played defensive line for Madison Middle School in Madison, suffered severe brain bleeding and swelling after making a tackle.

Months after that, Alabama A&M University football player Medrick Burnett Jr. died after sustaining a serious head injury in a game in late November.

Steinberg says his inspiration to pursue this cause came when he saw many of his own quarterback clients get repeatedly hit in the head during the late 1980s.

« They kept getting hit in the head, and when we went to the doctor and we asked, ‘How many is too many hits, and when should they contemplate retiring?’ The doctors had no answer because the brain is the last frontier of medical research, » Steinberg told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview.

HOW TO WATCH SUPER BOWL LIX BETWEEN CHIEFS, EAGLES STREAMED ON TUBI

Steinberg started hosting panels with players to promote awareness for brain health in the 1990s. At one of those panels, an appearance by neuropathologist Bennet Ifeakandu Omalu, the subject of the movie « Concussion, » convinced Steinberg of how many concussions are too many.

Steinberg was told that three or more was the magic number. After that, Omalu said, there’s an « exponentially » higher rate of Alzheimer’s, Parkinsons, premature cynicity, horno traumatic encephalopathy and depression.

But Steinberg has seen players play after suffering a third concussion.

« Part of the problem with players is they’re in a state of denial when it comes to their physical health, » Steinberg said. « Since they were in pop culture, little league they believe that real men play this play every circumstance. The concept of long-term health is an abstraction. So, it’s hard to get them to protect themselves, and it’s just very difficult. »

Steinberg even admits that he has seen some of his very own clients suffer at least three concussions, and it gave him reservations about encouraging them to keep playing afterward.

« I would talk about with them privately, because ultimately it’s their decision, but I try to be a voice that would interject into the dialogue the fact that traumatic brain injury is real, it has long-term consequences, » Steinberg said, adding that those conversations took place before recent advancements in medical technology that give clearer pictures and treatments of a person’s brain health.

Steinberg has specialized in representing star quarterbacks as an agent. He presented the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft eight times, while representing 62 total first-round picks. His client list includes NFL legends like Troy Aikman and Steve Young.

This past NFL season was a particularly bad year for quarterback brain injuries.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is set to lead his team in the Super Bowl in New Orleans, suffered a concussion in the first half against the Washington Commanders in Week 16. It ended his regular season, but he returned in time for the playoffs.

But prior to the playoffs, Hurts said that he didn’t remember an incident that happened on the sideline, just moments after he suffered the concussion.

« It’s so far long ago, I don’t really remember, » Hurts said to reporters on Jan. 10. « Been out of routine, you go through a routine everyday, and being out of that is challenging. I’m obviously dealing with different symptoms, ain’t fun either. »

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa suffered a concussion – the third of his NFL career – in an early-season tilt with the Buffalo Bills, on a nationally televised game. Tagovailoa had previously suffered multiple concussions within the span of just weeks in the 2022 season. The third of his career sparked national controversy, as some former players and media pundits called on him to retire.

Tagovailoa returned to play this past season anyway.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence suffered a concussion when he was the victim of an illegal hit by Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair during a game in early December. The hit ended Lawrence’s season, as Al-Shaair was suspended for three games and heavily criticized by the public and even an NFL executive.

As the country now turns its attention to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX between the Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs, Steinberg will have a presence as he looks to counter the danger that comes with championship-level football.

  • White House, Karoline Leavitt call out actress Selena Gomez for clip of her crying over Trump deportations

Multiple social media accounts attached to the Trump administration slammed actress Selena Gomez for posting a video of herself crying over deportations of illegal immigrants.

Both the official White House X account and press secretary Karoline Leavitt called out the « Only Murders in The Building » star after she wept on Instagram in response to the ICE raids that the Trump administration ordered

« Kayla Hamilton, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Rachel Morin were murdered by illegal aliens. Their courageous mothers had something to say to @SelenaGomez and those who oppose securing our borders, » the White House account posted on Friday, along with a clip of the aggrieved mothers blasting the pop star.

MSNBC ANCHOR CORRECTS HER CORRESPONDENT ON-AIR: THEY’RE ‘UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS’

Gomez uploaded a now-deleted video of her crying to her Instagram page on Monday, where she lamented the nationwide U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids targeting illegal immigrants who have committed crimes in the United States.

« All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don’t understand. I’m so sorry. I wish I could do something, but I can’t, » she said to her 422 million Instagram followers.

    « I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything, I promise. »

Gomez’s video was slammed by conservatives on social media, as well as by prominent Trump administration officials like border czar Tom Homan, who responded to the celebrity from Fox News Channel’s « Hannity » on Monday.

« We got a half a million children who were sex trafficked into this country, separated from their families, put in the hands of criminal cartels to be smuggled into the country. This administration can’t find over 300,000. Where’s the tears for them? »

TRUMP’S ICE NABS CHILD SEX OFFENDERS AMONG 530+ ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CAUGHT IN SINGLE DAY

In the clip shared by the White House account, the mothers of the victims – Tammy Nobles, Alexis Nungarary, and Patty Morin – asked why Gomez wasn’t crying for the victims of illegal immigrants.

« What about our children who were brutally murdered and raped and beat to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants? » Nobles, the mother of Hamilton, asked Gomez.

Nungaray was featured saying, « Seeing that video it’s hard to believe that it’s actually genuine and real because she’s an actress. »

Later in the clip, she added, « My daughter was a child. There’s many other children whose lives were taken due to people who cross here illegally. »

« I just feel like it’s a ruse to deceive people and garner sympathy for lawlessness, » Morin said, later adding, « No one has stood up except for us mothers to cry out about our children. »

As noted by Mediaite, Leavitt shared the clip to her official government account on Friday night, tagging Gomez’s account to make sure she saw it.

  • Meghan Markle’s best friend says Duchess of Sussex is a ‘glorious human’ despite ‘painful’ nasty headlines

Meghan Markle has plenty of support in her corner.

Weeks after a scathing Vanity Fair report not only described the Duchess of Sussex as « cold and withholding » to her staffers, but dubbed her and Prince Harry as the « local villains » of their ritzy Montecito neighborhood, actress Abigail Spencer, who has been close friends with Markle since their reign on « Suits » in 2011, said that the negative press can sometimes be difficult to read for those closest to the mom of two.

« It’s very painful as a friend, » she told Page Six at an American Heart Association event in New York City on Thursday. « But she is the most glorious human being on the planet, and so we just have to get behind her and support her. »

Markle is no stranger to negative press.

Last month, the Duchess caught heat for postponing her new Netflix series, « With Love, Meghan, » amid the LA wildfires.

« It would have been wrong to launch her new show while the wildfires continue to rage through L.A., » royal photographer Helena Chard recently told Fox News Digital. « I have to say it’s a first, her giving some thought to the release date of her series. She usually releases her work at the most inappropriate time, to the dismay and wrath of the general public. »

Spencer said Markle’s new show will highlight the person she actually is.

MEGHAN MARKLE’S ‘SUITS’ CO-STAR ABIGAIL SPENCER SPEAKS OUT AGAINST BULLYING ‘UNTRUTHS’

In 2021, the actress penned a lengthy description of Markle, two days after Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement that it was launching a probe into accusations that Prince Harry’s wife had bullied a staff member.

« She’s modeled nothing but generous professionalism on sets and an even more generous friendship in private. And on that night, she took my friends as her own. I’ve learned so much from Meg. The power of a handwritten note. The loveliness of surprise flowers. That she has a perpetual Rolodex in her brain of recommendations for the heart, soul, & body, » Spencer wrote.

The « Rectify » actress went on to share her memories of Markle supporting her through good times and bad, and specifically recalled a time she « physically held me in my darkest hours after my dad died. »

« After a gut-wrenching break up she brought me into her home & nursed me back to health. Soup & salad waiting in the kitchen, just, if I needed it. She’s taken my son in as her own. I can’t tell you the value of having another working mother I can lean on when with the pressures of visibility & child-rearing woes become overwhelming, » Spencer continued.

She referred to Markle as a « safe harbor » and « someone I can fall apart in front of. »

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the company operating a medical transport plane that crashed in Philadelphia Friday night — killing 7 and injuring 19, said the aircraft had flawless maintenance records and was manned by top pilots.

Shai Gold, managing director of corporate strategy and communications for Air Ambulance, told ABC 6 news there was « absolutely no indication » of any issues with the plane prior to the crash.

The maintenance records of the airplane were « impeccable » and the company goes by the book, following manufacturer specifications, according to Gold.

That’s what makes the crash unusual, he said.

« It’s a very unusual situation where, immediately after takeoff, the plane [took a] nosedive, » Gold said. « Very unusual. I don’t want to speculate, [but] the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) will come and investigate everything, and we’ll just have to sit patiently and wait for them. »

The company said it will cooperate fully with the NTSB.

  • Officials recover 42 remains from Potomac River as investigation into midair collision continues

Washington, D.C., officials released updates about the investigation of the Jan. 29 Potomac River midair collision on Saturday, detailing what bodies and debris have been removed from the water.

In a statement released on Saturday, Unified Command said that rescuers have recovered « 42 sets of remains » from the crash area so far, and the D.C. chief medical examiner has positively identified 38.

Sixty-seven people died in the incident.

Officials also said that they attempted to remove the Sikorsky UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter with a crane, which was « briefly stabilized, » but that the removal has not been successful so far.

« The U.S. Coast Guard is on the scene with numerous resources assisting with search efforts and enforcing a safety zone on the Potomac River, » the statement read.

KAZAKHSTAN PLANE CRASH SURVIVORS SAY THEY HEARD BANGS BEFORE AIRCRAFT WENT DOWN; PUTIN ISSUES STATEMENT

« Today, salvage crews from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the U.S. Navy’s Supervisor of Salvage and Diving are assessing the area and preparing for the recovery of the aircraft, » the statement added. « Divers from the salvage company are surveying the wreckage throughout the day. »

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Baltimore District also released a timeline of the recovery operations, which is expected to begin Monday and end Feb 12.

« The operations are expected to commence Feb. 3, pending results of detailed salvage surveys that will determine the full breadth of the debris field and allow for creation of a lift plan that addresses large wreckage, » the statement read. « The initial focus is removal of the remnants of the regional jet, which is expected to take three days. »

« Following recovery of the jet, crews will shift to recovery of the Black Hawk helicopter and associated wreckage. Upon completion of large lifts, on or around Feb. 8, crews will focus on clearing the remaining debris field with salvage baskets before demobilizing equipment by Feb. 12. »

In a news conference early Saturday evening, officials said that they were « working through the transcript of the air traffic control, » according to National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member Todd Inman.

STAFFING AT REAGAN WASHINGTON NATIONAL AIRPORT AIR CONTROL TOWER WAS ‘NOT NORMAL’ ON NIGHT OF COLLISION: FAA

« Both the airplane and the helicopter would hear any air traffic control, but they would not hear the other aircraft or helicopter, » Inman explained. « I bring that up because we are now working through the transcript of the air traffic control, and many people have heard different recordings [online]. »

« Those do not contain the UHF (ultra-high frequency) radio transmissions…as we synchronize the timing on that, we hope to be able to release them [Sunday]. »

Officials were also unable to confirm if the crew members in the Black Hawk helicopter were wearing night vision goggles at the time of the incident.

« We can verify it was on a training flight that would utilize night vision goggles, » Inman said. « We do not know at this time if the night vision goggles were actively being worn, nor what the setting may be. Further investigation should be able to let us know if that occurred and what it may factor. It may play in the overall accident. »

Also on Saturday, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy released a video on X stating that he has recently spoken to family members of the victims, saying that their pain is « unimaginable. »

« When I know information, I’m going to share with them, but also with the American people, » Duffy said. « Yesterday, we restricted the airspace around DCA from helicopter travel, making sure people feel safe as they come in and out of our capital city in the coming days. »

« We’re going to have more announcements. I want Americans to feel confident in American air travel. »

  • Tom Selleck indulges in McDonald’s before 80th birthday celebration with wife and family

Tom Selleck was spotted on a solo outing to McDonald’s the day before the actor celebrated his milestone 80th birthday.

The « Magnum P.I. » star was photographed in his car while picking up fast food at a drive-thru in Thousand Oaks, California on Tuesday.

On Wednesday night, Selleck was seen holding hands with his wife Jillie Mack after enjoying a birthday dinner with family and friends at the upscale Italian eatery Tuscany il Ristorante in Thousand Oaks.

The couple, who have been married since 1987, were joined by their daughter Hannah, 36, for the celebration.

Selleck was casually clad in a dark red button-down shirt under a light brown blazer with a tan jacket, blue jeans and olive green sneakers.

Jillie, 67, wore a black and beige striped maxi-dress with a light brown leather jacket, a black cross-body bag and black ankle boots.

Selleck carried a cigar box while Jillie held a gift bag as they strolled hand in hand down the street.

In a December interview with Parade, Selleck said that he had given little thought as to how he planned to celebrate turning 80.

« I’m trying not to count, » he said. « I stopped celebrating birthdays a while back. I intend to keep working. I’ll probably have dinner with maybe my brother and my sister and Jillie, just go out to dinner, kind of be quiet and not make a big deal of it. »

While speaking with Parade, Selleck said he was looking toward the future after his hit show « Blue Bloods » came to an end.

The Emmy Award winner played Commissioner Frank Reagan in the crime drama for 14 seasons from 2010 to 2024.

Selleck explained that he is not planning to retire anytime soon and expressed his hopes to make a return to the Western genre in a project led by « Yellowstone » creator Taylor Sheridan.

« A good Western’s always on my list, » he said.  « I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again. »

Selleck, who lives with Jillie on a 63-acre ranch in Ventura, California, previously starred in seven Westerns, including « The Sacketts, » « Concrete Cowboys, » « The Shadow Riders, » « Quigley Down Under, » « Last Stand at Saber River, » « Crossfire Trail » and « Monte Walsh. »

TOM SELLECK RISKS LOSING CALIFORNIA RANCH WITH CANCELATION OF ‘BLUE BLOODS’

While Selleck quipped that offers for new acting roles aren’t « pouring in, » he added that « some people are thinking of me. »

« I don’t know where my next job will take me, » he said. « People ask, ‘What do you want to do next?’ I’m not sure. I don’t want to do Frank Reagan II. »

Selleck later shared his thoughts on starring in a potential « Blue Bloods » spin-off, saying « I’m open to suggestions because I love Frank Reagan, but nobody’s really asked. »

« I don’t see him retiring and going off somewhere, » the actor added. « If he goes off to a small town, I’d rather do more ‘Jesse Stone’ movies. »

Selleck played police chief Jesse Stone in nine TV movies from 2005 to 2015. The films were based on Robert B. Parker’s « Jesse Stone » novel series.

During his interview with Parade, Selleck told the outlet that he wasn’t aware of plans for another « Jesse Stone » movie but didn’t rule out reprising the role in the future.

« It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now, » he said. « There’ve been quite a few years between shows. That doesn’t mean he isn’t a viable character. Everywhere I go, one of the things I get asked is, « When can I see another ‘Jesse Stone’? »

At the time, Selleck admitted that coming to terms with the end of « Blue Bloods, » which aired its final episode on Dec. 13, had been difficult.

« The hardest part for me is we had the ‘Blue Bloods’ family and we had the actors’ family, » he said. « They’re all my pals. I miss them. It’s going to take a lot of getting used to. »

  • Travis Kelce fined for taunting Bills on Patrick Mahomes touchdown after not being penalized during game

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was fined $11,255 for taunting during Sunday’s AFC championship game victory over the Buffalo Bills, the league announced Saturday.

The taunt that prompted the fine came after a touchdown run by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the final two minutes of the second quarter. Kelce approached Bills safeties Damar Hamlin and Cole Bishop, aggressively nodding his head as he said something.

Multiple referees were standing near Kelce at the time of the taunt. But none of them threw a flag for unsportsmanlike conduct, which would have cost the Chiefs 15 yards after the play, either on the extra point try or the ensuing kickoff.

However, the referees did throw a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty on Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips after he responded to Kelce’s taunt by headbutting the tight end.

Phillips was also fined $6,722 for the headbutt, the league announced Saturday.

The Chiefs won the game, 32-29, and many fans expressed outrage over multiple calls that benefited Kansas City during the game.

Officials ruled Bills quarterback Josh Allen was stopped short of a first down on a 4th-and-short play in the fourth quarter. CBS rules analyst Gene Steratore said during the broadcast he believed Allen got the first down.

That call prompted backlash from NFL fans on social media, but it was not the only one.

During the second quarter, officials ruled Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy made a catch despite video replay showing the ball touched the ground.

Referees came under similar scrutiny during the Chiefs’ divisional round playoff win against the Houston Texans one week earlier when a pair of roughing the passer penalties were called against the Texans for hits on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Houston edge rusher Will Anderson Jr. was called for roughing the passer on a third down in the first quarter. Anderson appeared to push Mahomes in the chest after Mahomes had thrown the ball incomplete to tight end Travis Kelce and was flagged.

The second penalty came during a Mahomes scramble in the third quarter. He had two blockers on a run and three defenders bearing down on him. He moved to his right and then back to his left when he decided to slide.

ESPN broadcaster Troy Aikman criticized the penalty and said it’s something the league has to address in the offseason.

Texans players and head coach DeMeco Ryans criticized the referees after the game.

Mahomes addressed the issue when asked by reporters Wednesday if he believed referees were giving him preferential treatment.

« I don’t feel that way, » Mahomes answered. « At the end of the day, the referees are doing their best to call the game as fair and as proper as they possibly can. And all you can do is go out there and play the game that you love as hard as you can and live with the results. … I think that’s what we preach here in Kansas City.

« You get new referees every year. You get new circumstances, and you never can really tell because every play’s different. And that’s what makes the NFL so special. I feel like I’ve just continued to play the game, and I just try to win. And whatever happens kind of happens. »

Kelce refused to address the issue when asked by brother Jason Kelce about the officiating during an episode of their « New Heights » podcast.

« I’d like to plead the Fifth, » the tight end said, jokingly referring to his constitutional right to remain silent, when Jason brought up the issue.

  • Eagles’ A.J. Brown recalls feeling like a ‘paid actor’ at previous Super Bowl, a loss to the Chiefs

NFL star A.J. Brown made headlines when cameras recently captured him passing time during a Philadelphia Eagles game reading a book, « Inner Excellence, » by self-help author Jim Murphy.

Brown’s sideline routine contributed to a spike in book sales, with « Inner Excellence » quickly jumping into the top spot on Amazon’s trending list the day after the Eagles’ wild-card win over the Green Bay Packers.

The book ranked 523,497 prior to the sudden increase in attention brought on by Brown.

Brown and the Eagles will now turn the page and focus on preventing a Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl three-peat. The Eagles are hoping to avoid a repeat of the 2023 Super Bowl.

Brown caught six passes for 96 yards and scored a touchdown in the 2023 Super Bowl in Arizona. But Kansas City took the lead in the fourth quarter and celebrated a 38-35 victory.

HOW TO WATCH SUPER BOWL LIX BETWEEN CHIEFS, EAGLES STREAMED ON TUBI

Two full NFL seasons have passed since the loss, and the Eagles could still be haunted by the memory of how they let a chance at winning the franchise’s second Super Bowl championship slip away.

A play here, a play there, and the Eagles could have been Super Bowl champions.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts replied « next question » when asked his most vivid memory from the 2023 Super Bowl, and Brown recounted a missed opportunity for him to score a touchdown that could have changed the outcome.

« The play really kept me up thinking about, ‘How did I miss that?’ and what I got confused on, » Brown said.

    The play?

« I don’t want to get into it because we may run it back, » he said.

HISTORY OF THE SUPER BOWL: PAST WINNERS, RESULTS, MVPS AND LOCATIONS OF THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Brown finished the 2024 season with 67 catches and a team-high 1,079 yards despite missing four games. It was the third consecutive year Brown surpassed 1,000 receiving yards.

« A.J. is the best receiver that this city has ever seen, » Eagles coach Nick Sirianni said.

Brown was rewarded in April with a three-year contract extension that included $84 million in guaranteed money. He was about to become the highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL at $32 million a year until Minnesota Vikings wideout Justin Jefferson’s deal topped his later that summer.

While Brown is paid like an elite receiver, he said he felt like nothing but a « paid actor » at the 2023 Super Bowl.

Brown said if he had his way, the Eagles would arrive in New Orleans on Friday, hold a walk-through Saturday and play the game Sunday. His Super Bowl experience was like something out of a movie in which he played the role of a football player. He has tried to steel his emotions amid this year’s Super Bowl hype.

« It’s about us, but it’s not about us, » he said. « We have so much we have to do for everyone else. The media, the fans. There’s only so little time that we get to focus on what’s important, and that’s the game. »

Brown said he’s been turning down media requests « left and right » because, when it comes to Super Bowl hype, « none of this stuff matters. »

The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET Feb. 9 from the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

  • Malibu man thanks firefighters who saved his home from LA wildfires: ‘We kept the fire from that door’

A Malibu man drove south this week to attend a ceremony honoring the El Segundo firefighters of Engine 31 C Platoon who assisted with the massively destructive Palisades Fire to personally thank them for saving his home.

Dr. Anthony Nesburn told FOX 11 that he wouldn’t have missed the ceremony, sharing that not only were the firefighters able to spare his house, but they also left him a note in his mailbox.

The note said that the house to the right of his was engulfed in flames and the fence separating the two homes was about to catch his on fire, « and we kept the fire from that door. »

He said he was so grateful for the letter, « because I did not know how the house survived. »

It’s an important bit of good news after Nesburn’s wife died last year. He told FOX 11 he felt  she was watching over him as the fire raged.

The note from firefighters also added, « We’re so sorry for the devastation your neighborhood has endured. »

Besides a charred side door, Nesburn’s home remains completely intact. Many of his neighbors, however, weren’t so lucky, and his son, who lives in the Pacific Palisades, also lost his.

« That was one of our prouder moments being on the incident, » El Segundo firefighter Matt Goodenough told FOX 11 of being able to protect Nesburn’s ocean view home. « There’s many houses we saved, but that one in particular was just one of those that we were proud to kind of put – I don’t know if you heard about the pink ribbon, but hanging the pink ribbon was an indication of a save. »

« The winds were unbelievable, » he said. « We already had an uphill battle. »

He added, « We go out there and we do the job. We handle the task, and we go back to the station, and we don’t normally talk about what we do. It’s a very humbling feeling. »

  • Long-lost van Gogh painting was sold at Minnesota garage sale for $50, according to report

Experts at a New York-based art data science firm believe a long-lost piece by Vincent van Gogh was sold at a garage sale in Minnesota and recently published a report about its investigation.

In a Jan. 28 news release, LMI Group International announced the publication of a 450-page report on a painting called « Elimar, » which it believes is a van Gogh original.

The painting was bought at a Minnesota garage sale for $50 in 2016, and, according to The Wall Street Journal, it could be worth as much as $15 million.

Experts believe the painting was done while the artist was a patient of the Saint-Paul sanitarium in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence between May 1889 and May 1890. It was found with « E L I M A R » on the front of the canvas.

METAL DETECTORISTS STUMBLE ACROSS 1200-YEAR-OLD TREASURE, UNUSUAL CHRISTIAN ARTIFACT IN VIKING GRAVES

The report describes the piece, which measures 45.7 by 41.9 centimeters, as an « emotionally rich, profoundly personal work created during the final and tumultuous chapter of van Gogh’s life. »

« In this portrait, van Gogh reimagines himself as an older, wiser man depicted against the serene palette-knife-sculpted sky and smooth expanse of the water, evoking van Gogh’s lifelong personal interest with life at sea, » the release stated.

The portrait shows a somber-looking man with a pipe in his mouth and a fur hat standing by the ocean. The painting has « the same three-quarter view of all four van Gogh self-portraits painted in 1889, » according to the report.

« ‘Elimar’ features stylistically distinct elements that appear throughout van Gogh’s oeuvre, including distinctive marks under the eyes, marks at the corner of the mouth, eyelashes, ‘whites of the eyes’ often in blue or green, a pronounced nasal-labial line, cursory shorthand describing the tragus and helix, and the color of cuff set off from the sleeve, » the statement said.

ARCHAEOLOGISTS STUMPED BY STRANGE ALIEN-LIKE FIGURINE DATING BACK 7,000 YEARS: ‘RAISES QUESTIONS’

Analysts also found that a strand of red hair was partially embedded in the corner of the painting, and scientists confirmed it belonged to a male. The painting also had a finish made of egg white, which van Gogh was known to have used.

Despite the stylistic similarities, the Van Gogh Museum has denied the painting’s connection to the famed Dutch artist. In February 2019, LMI Group received this statement from the museum: « We have carefully examined the material you supplied to us and are of the opinion, based on stylistic features, that your work … cannot be attributed to Vincent van Gogh. »

In a statement, LMI Group President Lawrence M. Shindell said his organization took a « data-based approach » to verifying the origin of the painting, and that it « represents a new standard of confidence for bringing to light unknown or forgotten works by important artists. »

« By integrating science and technology with traditional tools of connoisseurship, historical context, formal analysis, and provenance research, we aim both to expand and tailor the resources available for art authentication based on the unique properties of the works under our care, » Shindell said.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Van Gogh Museum for comment.

  • Former Chiefs assistant coach Eric Bieniemy returns to NFL after one season at UCLA: report

Eric Bieniemy appears to be returning to the NFL ranks. On Saturday, CBS Sports reported that Bieniemy agreed to become the Chicago Bears running backs coach.

Bieniemy is the latest assistant to land with the Bears, as recently hired head coach Ben Johnson continues to fill out his coaching staff. Bieniemy spent last year handling the offensive coordinator duties at UCLA, during the football program’s first season in the Big Ten Conference.

Bieniemy was a standout running back in college before he became a second round NFL Draft selection in 1991. He also has experience coaching ball carriers, serving as the running backs coach at Colorado — his alma mater — from 2001-02.

He took the same job at UCLA from 2003-04, before making the leap to the professional ranks when he was named the Minnesota Vikings running backs coach in 2006. Bieniemy returned to Colorado in 2011 when he was named the Buffaloes offensive coordinator. However, Bieniemy largely rose to prominence when he moved into his role as the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator.

Bieniemy was a member of two Super Bowl winning coaching staffs in Kansas City, but he opted for a change of scenery after the 2022 season.

Bieniemy was named the Washington Commanders assistant head coach and offensive coordinator in 2023 and was given the opportunity to call plays. Chiefs head coach Andy Reid served as the primary offensive playcaller during Bieniemy’s tenure in Kansas City.

Bieniemy is now expected to bring his championship experience to Chicago’s coaching staff. Meanwhile, Johnson selected former Denver Broncos tight end coach Declan Doyle as the Bears offensive coordinator, while Antwaan Randle El will serve as the team’s assistant head coach. Randle El worked with Johnson in Detroit, handling the Lions wide receivers coaching duties.

Bieniemy’s former team, the Chiefs, will meet the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9.

  • Justin Baldoni launches new website with amended lawsuit, ‘timeline of relevant events’ in Blake Lively feud

Justin Baldoni’s team has launched a new website amid his ongoing legal battle with « It Ends With Us » co-star Blake Lively.

The website, thelawsuitinfo.com, which was published Saturday, featured a landing page with links to two PDF files, including a copy of a newly amended complaint that the 41-year-old actor filed against the 37-year-old actress and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and another document with a 168-page « timeline of relevant events » that showcased new emails and texts related to the case.

Both documents were filed Friday in New York federal court ahead of the case’s first hearing, which is scheduled for Monday.

Lively has claimed she was sexually harassed on the set of « It Ends With Us » and filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, his Wayfarer studio and former PR representatives in December. The same day Lively filed her suit, Baldoni filed a $250 million suit against The New York Times for a December article about Lively’s lawsuit and the alleged smear campaign Baldoni attempted to run against his co-star.

Weeks later, Baldoni then named Lively and Reynolds in a separate $400 million defamation lawsuit in which he accused the Hollywood power couple of attempting to hijack « It Ends With Us » and create their own narrative.

Baldoni’s amended complaint alleged Lively had been working with The New York Times weeks before the article was published in December.

The documents stated that metadata embedded within The New York Times article indicated the outlet « had already begun building its defamatory Article no later than October 31, 2024. »

The lawsuit claimed that « careful observers reported that viewing the HTML source code for the Article revealed references to a ‘message-embed-generator’ that referred [to a] date of ‘2024-10-31.’ »

According to the documents, The New York Times created a tool to display Lively’s texts in the article Oct. 31, which Baldoni’s legal team suggested was evidence the story was first generated on or before that date.

« It may seem unsurprising and even respectable that a news organization should work for weeks or months before publishing a purported investigative report, » the documents say.

« But the significance of the timing of these elements of the defamatory Article is that they strip away the legal shields that Lively, the Times, and the other Lively Parties were likely relying on to protect their malicious acts of defamation, such as the litigation privilege and the fair reporting privilege. »

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, addressed the amended complaint.

« The decision to amend our lawsuit was a logical next step due to the overwhelming amount of new proof that has come to light, » Freedman said.

« This fresh evidence corroborates what we knew all along, that due to a blind pursuit of power, Ms. Lively and her entire team colluded for months to destroy reputations through a complex web of lies, false accusations and the manipulation of illicitly received communications.

« The ongoing public interest in this case online has ironically shed light on the undeniable facts pertaining to The New York Times and how heavily Ms. Lively and her representatives were not only deeply involved in the attempted takedown and smear campaign of Mr. Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios and their teams but that they themselves initiated it. »

In a statement to Fox News Digital, The New York Times Company’s representative, Danielle Rhoades Ha, pushed back against claims made in the amended lawsuit.

« The Baldoni/Wayfarer legal filings are rife with inaccuracies about The New York Times, including, for example, the bogus claim that The Times had early access to Ms. Lively’s state civil rights complaint, » she said.

« Mr. Baldoni’s lawyers base their erroneous claim on postings by amateur internet sleuths, who, not surprisingly, are wrong. The sleuths have noted that a version of the Lively state complaint published by The Times carries the date ‘December 10’ even though the complaint wasn’t filed until more than a week later. The problem: that date is generated by Google software and is unrelated to the date when The Times received it and posted it. »

Representatives for Lively did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

Fox News Digital’s Tracy Wright contributed to this report.
