  • King Charles says ‘our hearts’ are with United States after ‘devastating loss of life’ in DC plane crash

King Charles III sent condolences Saturday to the U.S. and the families of the Washington, D.C., plane crash victims.

« My family and I have been profoundly shocked and saddened by the dreadful news of the tragic air accident in Washington, D.C., which has led to such a devastating loss of life, » the monarch said in a memo released by Buckingham Palace and shared by multiple news outlets.

« Our hearts, and our special thoughts, are with the people of the United States, and our deepest possible sympathy goes to the families and loved ones of all the victims. »

Charles also said he wanted to pay « particular tribute to the emergency responders who acted so quickly to this horrendous event. »

DC PLANE CRASH INVESTIGATORS RECOVER AMERICAN AIRLINES BLACK BOXES AFTER MIDAIR COLLISION

On Wednesday night, 64 people were on board an American Airlines regional jet inbound to Reagan National Airport from Wichita, Kansas, when the plane collided with an Army Black Hawk helicopter carrying three soldiers, sending both aircraft into the Potomac and leaving no survivors.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Search crews are still recovering bodies, and both aircraft remain in the Potomac River until they can be removed in a salvage operation.

The crash is the first commercial airline accident on U.S. soil since 2009, when 50 people were killed when a Buffalo, New York-bound plane stalled after takeoff.

The king also offered condolences in December for the victims of a Dec. 29 plane crash in South Korea that killed 179 people.

« My wife and I were profoundly saddened to learn of the horrific air accident at Muan, which resulted in such grievous loss of life, » he said at the time. « As the people of the Republic of Korea mourn this disaster, the families and loved ones of all the victims are in our prayers. »

VICTIMS IDENTIFIED IN DC PLANE CRASH INVOLVING AMERICAN AIRLINES JET AND MILITARY HELICOPTER

The royal family is no stranger to tragedy. Princess Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris in 1997, and Lord Louis Mountbatten, the late Queen Elizabeth’s second cousin, was killed in an Irish Republican Army terrorist bombing in Ireland in 1979.

The late queen’s uncle, Prince George, the Duke of Kent, also died in a plane crash in 1942 while visiting troops in Iceland. And her first cousin, Prince William, the Duke of Gloucester, died in 1972 while piloting a plane in a race during an air show in Staffordshire, England.

The royal family is often in the air, flying to far-flung locations, and Prince Philip and King Charles both learned to fly in the military. Prince William and Prince Harry were also both helicopter pilots in the military.

Charles had a scary incident while piloting a small, nonmilitary plane in 1994 over Scotland’s Inner Hebrides when he popped a tire and overshot a runway.

A year later, he gave up his pilot’s license.

  • Obama Center subcontractor files $40M discrimination lawsuit against engineering firm for overruns

A Chicago-based subcontractor is suing one of the firms involved in managing the construction of the Obama Presidential Center for $40 million, claiming racial discriminatory practices forced the firm to do extra work that left it at risk of bankruptcy, according to a lawsuit.

Robert McGee, the owner of II in One, which provided concrete and rebar services for the center starting in 2021, filed the lawsuit in federal court last month against New York-based Thornton Tomasetti, which oversees structural engineering and design services for the $830 million project.

McGee claims that Thornton Tomasetti changed standards and imposed new rules around rebar spacing and tolerance requirements that differed from the American Concrete Institute standards, which resulted in « excessively rigorous and unnecessary inspection » and massive overruns.

OBAMA BREAKS GROUND IN CHICAGO FOR MASSIVE PRESIDENTIAL CENTER PROJECT

This, McGee, claims, incurred extensive paperwork that impacted productivity and resulted in millions in losses, according to the lawsuit.

However, Thornton Tomasetti defended its actions nearly a year ago, writing in a memo to the lawsuit that the subcontractors were « questionably qualified, » and the delays were due to their own shortcomings.

The Obama Presidential Center is being built near Jackson Park in Chicago, and will consist of a planned museum, library, community and conference facilities. The center will house the nonprofit Obama Foundation, which is overseeing the center’s development and operates a scholarship program through the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy.

McGee claims Thornton Tomasetti falsely accused II in One of lacking sufficient qualifications and experience to perform its work, while stating that non-minority-owned contractors were sufficiently qualified.

He is seeking to be paid back for roughly $40 million in construction costs the firm covered itself along with its joint venture partner, Concrete Collective.

« In a shocking and disheartening turn of events, the African American owner of a local construction company finds himself and his company on the brink of forced closure because of racial discrimination by the structural engineer, » the lawsuit reads.

« II in One and its joint venture partners… was subjected to baseless criticisms and defamatory and discriminatory accusations by the Obama Foundation’s structural engineer, Thornton Tomasetti.

However, Thornton Tomasetti claimed in an attached February 2024 memo that construction costs and delays « were all unequivocally driven by the underperformance and inexperience » of that subcontractor, II in One.

In the memo, Thornton Tomasetti tells Obama Foundation leadership that it spent hundreds of hours reviewing, analyzing, re-designing and responding to corrective work and that contractors caused « a multitude of problems in the field. »

CHICAGO SOUTH SIDE RESIDENTS SAY THEY’RE BEING DISPLACED BY OBAMA CENTER: CAUSING ‘HARM TO BLACK FAMILIES’

Thornton Tomasetti said the challenges with the concrete were due solely to the performance of the contractors.

« We cannot stand by while contractors attempt to blame their own shortcomings on the design team, » the memo states.

The memo goes on to state that Thornton Tomasetti and an architectural firm « bent over backwards to assist what everyone knows was a questionably qualified subcontractor team in areas where more qualified subcontractor would not have required it. »

The project has faced problems in the past. Construction was initially anticipated to get underway in 2018, but it was kicked back to 2021. It is scheduled to open sometime in 2026.

Some community activists claim the new center will cause prices for homes and rent to increase and may price many of those who live in the area. Environmental activists have also been critical of the project, arguing that it would remove too many trees and destroy some bird habitats.

Activists threatened to sue to block developments, but the plan to build the center was approved shortly after a lawsuit was filed, according to Newsweek. The Supreme Court denied the request to hear the case in 2021.

Obama has said he hopes the center would help promote the city’s South Side and bring Chicagoans together.

The Democrat downplayed those controversies during his 2021 groundbreaking speech at the site saying that the center will « plant new trees » and « provide new habitats for birds and wildlife. »

Fox News Digital contacted the Obama Foundation, Thornton Tomasetti and II in One for comment but did not receive responses before publication.

  • Families sue California AG over trans athlete law after girl loses varsity spot to transgender competitor

The families of two teenage girls are suing California Attorney General Rob Bonta over the state’s laws that allow transgender athletes to compete in girls sports.

A lawsuit was filed by Ryan Starling, the father of Taylor Starling; Daniel and Cynthia Slavin, the parents to Kaitlyn Slavin; and Save Girls Sports, according to court documents reviewed by Fox News Digital.

The listed defendants are Bonta and California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, along with the Riverside Unified School district and administrators Leann Iacuone and Amanda Chann.

The suit challenges a law in California that allows transgender athletes to compete against girls and women, claiming it is a Title IX violation.

The law, AB 1266, has been in effect since 2014, giving California students at scholastic and collegiate levels the right to « participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity, irrespective of the gender listed on the pupil’s records. »

« This law conflicts with federal Title IX protections, which were established to ensure fairness, safety, and equal opportunities for female students and athletes, » a spokesperson for Advocates for Faith & Freedom, the legal firm representing the families, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

HOW TO WATCH SUPER BOWL LIX BETWEEN CHIEFS, EAGLES STREAMED ON TUBI

« AB 1266 undermines female athletes, forcing them to compete against biological males who hold undeniable physical advantages. This is not equality. This is an assault on fairness and safety. »

The lawsuit, recently amended to include Bonta and Thurmond, was initially filed in November by the Starling and Slavin families.

It alleges Taylor Starling lost her spot on the varsity cross country team at Martin Luther King High School to a transgender athlete who had just transferred to the school. Starling and Slavin also alleged that when they wore shirts that said « Save Girls Sports » in protest, they were scolded by administrators who compared the shirts to swastikas.

The plaintiffs are looking to bring statewide change to California.

« Plaintiffs seek a federal ruling that AB 1266 violates Title IX as well as a decision holding the District accountable for violating their First Amendment rights. They demand injunctive relief to stop schools from forcing biological girls to compete with and against males, a judgment affirming sex-based protections in athletics and compensation for damages caused by these discriminatory policies, » the Advocates for Faith & Freedom spokesperson said.

HOW TRANSGENDERISM IN SPORTS SHIFTED THE 2024 ELECTION AND IGNITED A NATIONAL COUNTERCULTURE

Ryan Starling previously told Fox News Digital the loss of his daughter’s varsity spot disrupted his entire family emotionally, because cross country played a pivotal role in her life. And then when his daughter and other girls on the team confronted their school administrators about it, he claims, they were told « transgenders have more rights than cisgenders. »

« It’s been told multiple times to not just Taylor, but her sister, » Ryan Starling said, adding that Taylor is one of three triplets, and all three are active on varsity sports teams. « All the administrators at Martin Luther King have stated this comment, and the Title IX coordinator for the Riverside Unified School District has stated ‘that as a Cisgender girl, they do not have the same rights as a transgender girl’ to multiple girls, not just our daughters, but multiple girls on campus. »

An RUSD spokesperson declined to give an official comment on Ryan Starling’s claims in a conversation with Fox News Digital.

The RUSD previously provided a statement to Fox News Digital insisting that its handling of the situation has been in accordance with California state law.

« While these rules were not created by RUSD, the district is committed to complying with the law and CIF regulations. California state law prohibits discrimination of students based on gender, gender identity and gender expression and specifically prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender in physical education and athletics. The protections we provide to all students are not only aligned with the law but also with our core values which include equity and well-being, » the statement said.

Dan Slavin previously told Fox News Digital his family may continue to raise awareness of this issue in the 2026 California gubernatorial election if the issue hasn’t been resolved.

« If nothing changes here in the next couple of years, it absolutely should be part of the next election, » he said.

« I want to see policies change, » Slavin added. « I keep saying the system is broken, and it’s doing more harm than good. And I want to see people understand that and admit that. Sometimes, we make mistakes, and it’s OK to admit that, but we need to make changes and get out of those mistakes we make. »

California State Assemblymember Kate Sanchez announced in early January she is introducing a bill to ban transgender athletes from competing in girls and women’s sports.

Sanchez, a Republican, will propose the Protect Girls’ Sports Act to the state legislature. Currently, 25 states have similar laws in effect.

  • TCU star whose brother was killed in New Orleans terror attack catches game-winning touchdown in Senior Bowl

A month to the day that Tiger Bech was killed in the New Orleans terror attack, his brother etched his name in Senior Bowl history.

Jack Bech, a wide receiver at TCU, caught the game-winning touchdown in Saturday’s Senior Bowl as time expired and was named the game’s MVP.

« My brother has some wings on me. He gave them to me, and he let that all take place. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Tiger, nothing else but them. They’re the reason I did what I did today. I attribute it all to them, » Jack said after the game.

He was working as a stockbroker in New York City but traveled back home to Louisiana for the holidays.

Jack said while his success this week will hopefully improve his draft stock, he’d trade it all for a brotherly hug.

« It’s been surreal just to be able to come and be in this game. It’s a goal you set for yourself. But if I had the option if I came here, had the worst week ever, ruin my draft stock, but that means I could hug my brother right now, I would take that.

« But, on the flip side of that, I don’t think I could have had the week that I had if all that wouldn’t have happened. His wings were on my side. Him and Jesus Christ are the reasons I was able to do all of this, » he said.

« All the big brother does in life is want to see his little brother succeed. He’s been my role model my whole life, the person I looked up to, the person I wanted to be. He was the best big brother I could ever ask for. My whole goal in the rest of my life is to live his legacy on. »

  • Third soldier inside Black Hawk helicopter involved in DC midair collision identified

The Army has identified the third soldier who was *inside the Black Hawk helicopter involved in Wednesday’s deadly midair collision near Reagan National Airport after it had been initially withheld.

Cpt. Rebecca M. Lobach, of Durham, North Carolina, served as an aviation officer in the Army from July 2019 and had around 500 hours of flying time in the Black Hawk under her belt.

Lobach’s family had initially asked for her identity to be withheld because of unsubstantiated accusations that DEI was a factor in the crash.

The crew chief and Lobach’s other fellow pilot inside the Black Hawk were identified on Thursday as Ryan O’Hara and Chief Warrant Office 2 Andrew Eaves.

Their helicopter collided with an American Airlines regional jet landing at Reagan from Wichita, Kansas, Wednesday evening while the soldiers were on a training mission, killing all 64 on the plane and the three in the helicopter.

  • Transgender best actress Oscar nominee apologizes for old tweets criticizing George Floyd, Islam

Karla Sofía Gascón, the first openly trans actor to be nominated for an Oscar, apologized and ditched X after multiple controversial tweets were resurfaced.

Gascón, who is currently a contender for the Academy Award for « Best Actress » after starring in the movie « Emilia Pérez, » faced backlash for old social media posts about Islam and George Floyd.

In one 2020 post that was reportedly viewed and translated from Spanish by Variety magazine, Gascón shared a photo of a Muslim family in a restaurant, and wrote, « Islam is marvelous, without any machismo. Women are respected, and when they are so respected they are left with a little squared hole on their faces for their eyes to be visible and their mouths, but only if she behaves. Although they dress this way for their own enjoyment. How DEEPLY DISGUSTING OF HUMANITY. »

This was not the only post from the performer criticizing Islam, however, as Gascón also proposed in 2020, « Until we ban religions that go against European values and violate human rights, such as Islam, under the protection of freedom of worship, we will not end part of the huge problem we face. »

DEMI MOORE’S OSCAR NOMINATION MARKS CAREER HIGH AFTER NEARLY QUITTING HOLLYWOOD

The performer slammed other religions by name, writing in a 2021 post, « I am so sick of so much of this sh–, of islam, of christianity, of catholicism and of all the f—ing beliefs of morons that violate human rights. »

In a post from 2020, shortly after the death of George Floyd, the performer wrote, « I really think that very few people ever cared about George Floyd, a drug addict swindler, but his death has served to once again demonstrate that there are people who still consider black people to be monkeys Without rights and consider policemen to be assassins. They’re all wrong. »

The Academy Awards nominee had also criticized the Oscars in 2021, « More and more the #Oscars are looking like a ceremony for independent and protest films, I didn’t know if I was watching an Afro-Korean festival, a Black Lives Matter demonstration or the 8M. Apart from that, an ugly, ugly gala. »

Since then, Gascón appears to have ditched the X platform and apologized for the controversial statements, telling The Hollywood Reporter in Spanish, « I’m sorry, but I can no longer allow this campaign of hate and misinformation to affect neither my family nor me anymore, so at their request I am closing my account on X. »

The performer also claimed to have been « threatened with death, insulted, abused and harassed to the point of exhaustion. »

« I want to acknowledge the conversation around my past social media posts that have caused hurt, » Gascón said in a statement provided by Netflix. « As someone in a marginalized community, I know this suffering all too well and I am deeply sorry to those I have caused pain. All my life I have fought for a better world. I believe light will always triumph over darkness. »

Fox News Digital reached out to Gascón’s management and did not receive an immediate reply.

  • Arizona State’s Bobby Hurley sends team to locker room early after opponent’s ‘no class’ behavior, ejections

The final seconds of Saturday’s Arizona State-Arizona game took a little while to finish due to some drama on the court and the benches.

With roughly 30 seconds left in the game and the Wildcats up 81-72, Arizona’s Caleb Love got tangled up with BJ Freeman. The Sun Devil then headbutted Love.

Love and Freeman were ejected, but as the dust continued to settle between both teams, ASU head coach Bobby Hurley ordered all the players on his bench to go to the locker room.

As the Wildcats dribbled out the final seconds, Hurley ordered his assistant coaches to leave the bench, leaving just him on the bench and five Sun Devils on the court.

Seconds before the usual handshake line, Hurley then waved off Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd, and both squads went into their respective locker rooms.

Hurley was asked about the ordeal and said he had no choice but to send his players to the locker room early after his opponents showed « no class. »

« If you look right near our bench, it was relentless constant chatter from a couple of the Arizona players that was not being policed properly. Of course, they’re going to be happy with winning, but it was done with no class, in my opinion, » Hurley said after the game.

« Words that were said back and forth led to the moment where Freeman lost his cool, because of the constant talk that was allowed to go on. I had to make a tough decision in the best interest of our team to get them into the locker room so there would be no further incident the rest of the game and in the handshake line. »

Hurley then finished his press conference with a parting shot, perhaps at Love.

« I do get a vote for the All-Conference, and I can tell you who’s not getting a vote, » he said.

Lloyd called the ordeal « disappointing on all sides. »

« We want to be a program that when tough things happen, we want to respond with class. I don’t know if we did or didn’t, but just a tough moment in an emotional game. I got a lot of respect for Bobby and Arizona State, » Lloyd said.

The Wildcats improved to 15-6 on the season and 9-1 in Big 12 play, while the Sun Devils are 12-9 overall and 3-7 against conference opponents.

The teams will meet in a rematch March 4.

He earned 49.9% of the vote against 48.2% by John James in 2020 after defeating Terri Lynn Land in convincing fashion, 54.6% to 41.3%.

Georgia is the other state that will have a Dem-held seat up for election in 2016, in a state won by President Donald Trump back in November.

« [Fisherman] just pushed me down and had his knees and hands on my shoulders holding me down, » she recalled in the video, according to NBC6. « I was crying, and I know the whole time I was asking them not to do it . . . I was just like ‘Please no, please no.’ »

The woman claimed that Alon and Oren took turns raping her while Fisherman held her in place, according to her interview with investigators. All three men face sexual battery charges and are awaiting trial; Fisherman is not accused of raping the woman.

The woman confided in family and friends about the terrifying ordeal but said she was too frightened of the men to report the attack at the time, NBC6 reported.

« They just had this weird presence about them, » she said. « It was just very, very, very scary. »

In October 2021, Oren allegedly invited another woman to his Flamingo Drive home. What was initially a flirtatious encounter devolved into assault, she said.

« I start pulling away and as I pull away, he starts getting aggressive, kissing me, holding me firmly. He ripped the top of my dress, » the second woman said in footage released this week. « He pushed me onto his bed, and I laid there stiff and in shock, and he got on top of me. »

Joel Denaro and Edward O’Donnell IV, attorneys representing Oren and Alon, told NBC6 that the accusers’ stories « will collapse not only under their own weight but with evidence that will prove they are not believable. »

« Aside from the obvious financial reward they are seeking after eight years of not reporting to law enforcement, we will show evidence, witnesses, and motivations contradicting their stories, » he told the outlet.

Fisherman’s attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.

LUXURY REAL ESTATE BROTHERS LURED DOZENS OF WOMEN OVER TWO DECADES WITH PROMISE OF LAVISH LIFESTYLE: FEDS

Currently, Oren, Alon and Tal are in federal custody in New York. There, they are facing sex trafficking charges, but they deny allegations against them.

Law enforcement officers have interviewed over 40 women, who reported « being forcibly raped or sexually assaulted by at least one of the Alexander Brothers, » according to a recent letter by the prosecution, obtained by Fox News Digital.

In many of these alleged instances, « one or more of the Alexander Brothers drugged their victim prior to the rape, » prosecutors wrote in the letter addressed to U.S. District Judge Valerie Caproni.

Each of the brothers has separately been accused by at least 10 women of forcible rape between 2002 or 2003 and 2021, according to the letter.

Authorities executed a warrant on Dec. 11 to search Tal Alexander’s apartment inside a skyscraper on Manhattan’s « Billionaire’s Row. » During the search, multiple hard drives were discovered and seized, including one with a large quantity of sexually explicit videos and pictures, according to the letter and prosecutor’s statement during a hearing earlier this month.

The apartment was previously shared by Oren and Tal Alexander, the letter continues, adding that the photos and videos were found on a hard drive in a closet that appeared to include items belonging to Oren.

The seized photos and videos depict « at least Oren, Alon, and several third parties recording or photographing themselves with women in states of intoxication and undress, » and in multiple videos, « the women appear initially unaware that they were being recorded and became upset and attempted to hide or flee from the camera after realizing they were being filmed, » prosecutors wrote.

All three brothers were charged with one count of conspiracy to commit sex trafficking and a separate count of sex trafficking of one woman by force, fraud or coercion. In addition, Tal Alexander was charged with the sex trafficking of a second victim.

Earlier this month, Judge Caproni denied bail, finding that the Alexander brothers pose a flight risk and a risk to the community. She said the evidence is strong, adding that the men pose a danger to unsuspecting women.

Alon Alexander appealed that decision on Tuesday, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Oren and Tal Alexander co-founded the real estate firm Official, which offers luxury listings in places like New York City, the Hamptons, Miami and Los Angeles, in 2022 after rising through the ranks at Douglas Elliman, one of the largest real estate brokerages in the country, according to prosecutors.

Their past clients include Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, Liam Gallagher and Lindsay Lohan, according to CBS News.

  • FAA Academy in Oklahoma struggled to fill classrooms due to DEI quotas, Sen. Mullin says

Sen. Markwayne Mullin, R-Okla., told « Fox News Live » Saturday that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Academy in Oklahoma has struggled to fill classrooms due to DEI quotas.

« Where the FAA air traffic controllers get trained is right here inside of Oklahoma, in Oklahoma City, » Mullin said. « That’s their training hub and I will tell you we were having a hard time filling the classes because of DEI. »

Flight safety has become a topic of debate this week after an American Airlines plane and an Army helicopter collided outside Reagan National Airport on Wednesday. Two days later on Friday, a medical jet crashed on a street near the Roosevelt Mall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

TRUMP ATTACKS DEI POLICIES AFTER DC PLANE CRASH, SAYS FAA EMPLOYEES MUST BE HELD TO ‘HIGHEST STANDARDS’

Mullin argued that DEI may have played a role in the lack of safety preparedness, especially following the crash outside Reagan National Airport. He said that focusing on hiring « the best and brightest individuals » is a far more dependable strategy than focusing on « diversity, equity and inclusion » policies.

At the FAA academy in Oklahoma City, DEI policies resulted in classes not being used to capacity to fulfill DEI quotas, Mullin said.

« Instead of these classes being 100% full, we were at 80% or 70%, and it wasn’t from the lack of individuals applying for it except for each class had a ratio that they had to have on it, » the senator said.

TRUMP DOD CREATES TASK FORCE TO ABOLISH DEI OFFICES THAT ‘PROMOTE SYSTEMIC RACISM’

Mullin praised President Donald Trump for taking a strong stance against DEI upon taking office.

« President Trump is absolutely correct, » Mullin said. « When you’re not hiring people based on merit and expertise; you’re hiring them based on diversity, equity and inclusion, then that has a huge problem moving forward for us. »

The FAA did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

  • FDA recalls breadcrumbs sold nationwide

Breadcrumbs sold for months throughout the United States contain an undeclared allergen and are being recalled for safety reasons, the Food and Drug Administration announced on its website on Jan. 28.

La Fiesta Food Products, LLC, which is based in La Miranda, California, announced the recall on its website on Jan. 25. The FDA published it three days later, on the 28th.

The recalled products include 8-ounce packages of La Fiesta brand « Unseasoned Bread Crumbs (Pan Rayado) » and « Seasoned Bread Crumbs (Pan Rayado Sazonado), » said the release from La Fiesta Food Products.

FDA CLASSIFIES CHOCOLATE RECALL TO MOST SERIOUS LEVEL

« The products contain sesame as an undeclared allergen. Additionally, the labels do not include the allergen declaration in Spanish, » said the release.

« People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to sesame run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products, » said La Fiesta Foods, who noted « No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue. »

The unseasoned bread crumbs were sold at stores throughout the United States from April 10, 2024, through Jan. 22, 2025, said La Fiesta.

« The recall was initiated after discovering that the product contained undeclared sesame. Further investigation revealed that the issue was caused by errors on the product labeling, » said La Fiesta Foods.

Those who have the recalled products « are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund, » said the release.

In 2023, the FDA added sesame as the ninth major food allergen in the United States, Fox News Digital previously reported.

The previous eight foods identified as major allergens – milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, and soybeans – account for 90% of food allergies, said the FDA’s website.

« In addition, the Food Allergy Safety, Treatment, Education and Research (FASTER) Act of 2021, declared sesame as a major food allergen, » said the FDA.

« These nine foods, and any ingredient that contains protein derived from one or more of them, are designated as ‘major food allergens.’ »

  • Reagan National Airport has bothered lawmakers for years, but quick access to power has stalled change

Ask many of Congress’ frequent fliers, and they’ll tell you Ronald Reagan National Airport has sent up red flags for years.

« I’ve long been very, very nervous about congestion at Reagan National, » said Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va.

« The congestion of the airspace around Reagan and D.C. as a whole definitely played a part in this, » said Sen. Tim Sheehy, R-Mont., a former firefighting pilot. « The sheer number of aircraft in the air is as high as it’s ever been. »

« A lot of aircraft transit up and down the Potomac, » said Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., a former Navy combat pilot and astronaut. « Getting in and out of certain areas. The Pentagon. Other military installations. Reagan right there in that highly trafficked area. »

« Whenever I’m at Reagan and I see new gates being built, the terminal getting larger, I realize that there will never be another inch of runway. The skies are pretty congested, » said Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D. « I often think there’s too much activity for this small plot of land. And I’m sure there’ll be a reevaluation of all of that. »

REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT CRASH: MILITARY BLACK HAWK HELICOPTER COLLIDES MIDAIR WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES JET

The nation’s worst air disaster in nearly a quarter-century spilled into the Potomac River just short of Washington’s Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night. Sixty-seven people died after American Eagle Flight 5342 from Wichita, Kan., collided with an Army Sikorsky Black Hawk helicopter feet from the runway.

Aviation experts say flying in and out of Reagan National is one of the most complicated airports in the country. The approach from both the north and south is over water. Pilots must navigate a narrow corridor above the river – but not fly over the nearby Pentagon. That’s to say nothing of piercing Washington, D.C.’s super-protective airspace. The White House and U.S. Capitol are clearly visible when planes take off to the north.

Moreover, the airport is known for notoriously short runways. The runway on which the American Eagle flight attempted to land stretches a little more than 5,200 feet. Slightly less than a mile in length.

That’s not even the main runway. Standard commercial runways average around 13,000 feet. The longest runway at Reagan National is about 7,000 feet. Plus, all three runways cross one another. Such a configuration is rarely seen at modern airports.

DC PLANE CRASH: ATC STAFFING LEVELS UNDER SCRUTINY AS BARGES ARRIVE TO HELP SALVAGE OPS

Last spring, there were two incidents where planes nearly crashed into one another while crossing runways.

The runways are some of the most overused in the entire American flight system. The airport was designed to handle 14 million passengers annually. But that number spiked to 25 million in 2023. The airport accommodates a staggering 800 takeoffs and landings each day.

There were efforts to close Reagan National when Dulles International Airport opened in 1962. Dulles is a monstrosity of a campus. However, it resides nearly 30 miles from Washington, D.C., proper. The nation’s movers and shakers never gravitated to Dulles when it was so easy to fly into Reagan National, deplane, catch a cab and arrive at the State Department for a meeting 15 minutes later.

Lawmakers, aviation, national security officials and the Secret Service conducted serious conversations about permanently closing the airport after 9/11. It was thought that air traffic in and out of Reagan National posed too much of a risk to the seat of government. It wouldn’t take much for hijackers to commandeer an aircraft and reroute it to Capitol Hill.

After all, one plane crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11. The fourth plane – which went down in a field near Shanksville, Penn. – was ultimately bound for the Capitol.

DC PLANE CRASH: POTOMAC RIVER DIVERS’ SEARCH FOR BODIES COMPLICATED BY CONDITIONS OUT OF THEIR CONTROL

That said, advocates for maintaining Reagan National argued it was nearly impossible to hijack a plane taking off and immediately send it barreling toward the Capitol. It takes a while to engineer a hijacking. There was simply not enough time to execute such a plan seconds after takeoff.

Still, authorities shuttered Reagan National for more than three weeks following 9/11. New safety rules were in place once the airport re-opened. Planes couldn’t have more than 156 seats. All passengers were required to be seated a half-hour before landing. Air marshals patrolled most if not all flights in and out of the airport.

The feds loosened many of those restrictions anywhere from a few months to nearly four years after 9/11. But that didn’t diminish questions about the safety of this particular airport.

VICTIMS IDENTIFIED IN DC PLANE CRASH INVOLVING AMERICAN AIRLINES JET AND MILITARY HELICOPTER

However, proponents of maintaining Reagan National had some of the most powerful allies in the nation: Members of Congress.

Lawmakers keep insane schedules. In fact, the invention of the jet airplane contributed to such bedlam. Lawmakers are in high demand in their districts or states – and on Capitol Hill. That’s to say nothing of conferences in Aspen or Halifax – and glitzy fundraisers in New York or San Francisco. So air travel, coupled with access to a nearby airport, is paramount in the modern Congress.

The importance of aviation is even incorporated into the Congressional vernacular.

Mondays or Tuesdays are often deemed « fly-in » days. The House and Senate don’t truly get going until late in the day during the first day of the week. Thus, votes on Monday might not unfold until 5:30 pm et in the Senate and 6:30 in the House. Depending on if the House (and sometimes the Senate) convenes on a Monday or Tuesday, Thursdays and Friday are considered « getaway » days. The House might cut town by late morning or noon on a getaway day. If the Senate doesn’t toil for five days (which has happened a lot this year, but not this week), the last vote often hits around 2:15 or 2:30 pm. on a Thursday.

Thus, lawmakers have a vested interest in keeping Reagan National operational. Even after 9/11.

Congress reauthorized programs for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for five years in 2024. But one of the most contentious issues in the bill was whether Congress should authorize additional daily « slots » for Reagan National. New, regular flights commence in a few weeks to Las Vegas, San Diego, Seattle, San Antonio and San Francisco. Lawmakers have blessed an increase of about 50 additional daily « slots » at Reagan National since the turn of the century.

It’s telling that only four senators opposed the FAA bill last year. All four were the local Washington, D.C., area senators: former Sen. Ben Cardin, D-Md., – who just retired – along with Sens. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., Mark Warner, D-Va., and Kaine.

The Senate confirmed Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on a bipartisan vote Tuesday. Duffy faced a crisis by Wednesday night. By Friday, the new secretary tightened up airspace around Reagan National for helicopters.

But like everything in Washington, the key to Reagan National is all about access. It’s hard to find any major airport on the planet located so close to the levers of power.

And as long as the White House, the U.S. Capitol, the Pentagon, a myriad of federal agencies and lobbying shops exist in Washington, it’s doubtful that Reagan National is going anywhere.

Earlier this week, Mackie faced outrage from fans after saying the iconic American superhero he’s playing should not « represent » America.

« Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations. It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity. Someone who is trustworthy and dependable, » he said.

  • Eagles invite survivor of Bourbon Street attack back to New Orleans for Super Bowl LIX: ‘Not letting evil win’

Former Princeton football player Ryan Quigley was seriously injured and lost his best friend and fellow teammate, Tiger Bech, in the violent terrorist attack in New Orleans on January 1. But Quigley will have the opportunity to write that tragic story when he returns next weekend as an honorary guest of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Eagles invited Quigley and Bech’s sister to attend their divisional round game against the Los Angeles Rams last month, but this week they invited him to their training facility with the intention of surprising him with Super Bowl LIX tickets.

HOW TO WATCH SUPER BOWL LIX BETWEEN CHIEFS, EAGLES STREAMED ON TUBI

« We want to tell you the real reason we brought you here, » Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham said in a video shared by the team. « It’s okay if you’re not feeling it, but we would love to have you down for the Super Bowl. »

This year’s Super Bowl will be hosted by the city of New Orleans. It will take place just a little over a month after the attack. Quigley will return to the city, something he vowed never to do again.

« New Year’s Eve was my first time in New Orleans ever, it was my first night, and I told myself it was going to be the last, » he told the team’s website. « But then I thought about it, because all year I’ve been telling Tiger if the Eagles make the Super Bowl this year, I promised him I was going to take him, and he’s from Louisiana. »

« I think, not letting evil win and evil will not prevail. I think we’re going to go back to New Orleans and leave on a positive note from that city, given that Tiger’s from there and that I promised him I was going bring him down to the Super Bowl. I’m looking forward to it for sure. »

Quigley, 26, suffered broken bones in his leg, back and face and underwent surgery and several days in the hospital to recover from a horrific terror attack on Bourbon Street that killed 14 people and injured dozens more.

« Everything that the Eagles have done from being around the facilities today and the Divisional Round, to helping us share his story, there’s no words to describe it. We’re forever grateful to have the opportunity to tell the rest of the world how special Tiger was. »

« Everyone that I meet moving forward, I want to introduce Tiger as well, because of how special he was and how much character he had, » he added.

« He had no problem going to like anywhere in the world and fitting into different cultures. And he was just a super well-rounded individual with a ton of qualities that I’m going to make sure people know about for the rest of my life. »

  • Bill Maher laments that everything in government is ‘broken,’ but is convinced Trump isn’t the answer

« Real Time » host Bill Maher closed his show Friday night by lamenting how everything about the government is « broken » and is convinced President Trump won’t do a thing to fix it.

« Can anyone really say our government is not broken, given that every few months it’s on the verge of a shutdown? » Maher asked his viewers during his monologue. « Here’s what our system has devolved into: We vote to spend money we don’t have, spend it and then vote whether to pay the bill. And then one party threatens to crash the economy by not paying so then we vote just enough money to keep the government open for a few months at a time. Reminds me of when I was broke and would put $1 of gas in my car every time I ‘filled’ up. »

« You can tell me that’s not a broken system- the gerrymandering, the lobbyists writing the laws, the Electoral College, putting presidents in office who didn’t win [the popular vote], the parties who don’t even talk to each other anymore? With our government, everything is broken. It’s hard to even name an issue the government is involved with that isn’t broken, » he continued.

BILL MAHER SHOCKED TO ADMIT ‘TRUMP IS COOL NOW,’ SAYS SPORTS PLAYERS LOVE THE PRESIDENT

The HBO star complained about the US having the « most expensive health care system in the world » with « far worse results » regarding chronic illnesses, life expectency and infant mortality and slammed the cost of living in cities like New York, citing that one must have a $165,000 income to afford the average apartment, « which is triple than what the average pay is. »

« That’s broken because the economy is broken. And if you’re in the half that can afford Taylor Swift tickets or private firefighters or anything in Whole Foods, it’s still broken because it’s not sustainable as long as the other half has no prayer of owning a home and thinks their only hope of getting ahead is to get lucky with a meme coin, » Maher said.

« And if your answer to all of this is ‘Well, there’s a new sheriff in town and he’s gonna fix it,’ dream on, » Maher continued while showing an image of Trump.

Maher went on to offer what he thinks would fix the « broken » system, which is that both Republicans and Democrats must « admit what they suck at, » citing health care and immigration respectively.

« From time to time, I hope to take each of these issues and try to make the case that there’s an almost always reasonable centrist position that would go a long way to making everything not f—ing broken if we could just get there, if everyone would just stop being such a d— about it, » he concluded.

  • Disney reveals fate of closed Star Wars hotel

The building that formerly housed the « Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser » at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida will be repurposed as office space, the company confirmed to local Orlando media.

Reports began swirling at the end of January that the building for the shuttered hotel would get new life as an office space, multiple sources reported.

Disney confirmed to WESH 2, an Orlando outlet, that it’s « Imagineering » department would be taking up residence in the space, and that the move had been in the works since October.

DISNEY CRUISE LINE INCREASES RECOMMENDED GRATUITIES

It is unclear when the renovation work will begin or when the employees will move into the space.

« Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative engine that designs and builds all Disney theme parks, resorts, attractions, and cruise ships worldwide, and oversees the creative aspects of Disney games, merchandise product development, and publishing businesses, » said Disney’s website.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser was a two-night experience that was akin to a traditional cruise. Guests on the Galactic Starcruiser were immersed in a story that played out during their stay.

The 100-room hotel opened in March 2022, after many delays.

In May 2023, Disney announced that the Starcruiser would take its final « voyage » at the end of September.

The Galactic Starcruiser was praised for its storytelling and experience, but faced criticism over its price structure.

Rates for a two-person « cabin » on the Starcruiser started at nearly $5,000. A four-person cabin was $6,000, FOX Business previously reported.

In addition to two nights in the hotel room, the rate included entertainment, meals and an « excursion » to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

After the announced closure, Star Wars fans were hopeful that the building would remain as an attraction in some form.

In a June 2023 interview with travel website The Points Guy, Josh D’Amaro, the chairman of Disney Experiences, said that « something will happen » with the building, but remained mum on what that would entail.

About six months later, in January 2024, a permit for « general construction » at the site of the former hotel was filed by Disney.

Season One offered viewers a look into the stages of grief as a major story line unfolded in Graziano’s life. Her former husband, Hector « Junior » Pagan, was revealed as an FBI informant who wore a wire and snitched on her father. Graziano detailed her struggles to Gorsky during weekly sessions.

She acknowledged one key takeaway was learning how to support a client through the most challenging and unusual circumstances.

« Whatever they wanted to use out of that 50-minute session, it was out of their discretion, » she said. « They got to use whatever content they wanted. »

Unsure about the value of sessions recorded in an industrial building for viewers’ entertainment, Gorksy didn’t sign on for additional seasons.

The show aired for six seasons. The final episode aired one month after beloved « Mob Wives » cast member Angela Raiola, known as « Big Ang, » died from complications of lung cancer.

Gorsky authored the book « Anger Management: 101, » providing insights on how individuals can avoid engaging in or propelling arguments. She details coping skills, tools and information for an alternative to anger, which she initially applied to her own life.

« I had a tremendous amount of anger, friction, yelling, screaming, arguing, and it was just a roller coaster, » she said, describing her childhood. « It wouldn’t stop. »

« Anger is a pretty healthy emotion that provides you with a cue that something is wrong, » Gorsky said.

The court-approved book is written in short chapters, and clients are encouraged to work through them gradually.

« The end goal is to make better decisions because you have better skills to resolve conflicts, » Gorsky said.

« Even if you’re the most reactive individual, most of the time, everything is preplanned, » she said. « All your plans, situations, people, events, gatherings; you know whom you’re with. You know who the people are. You know what the usual conflicts are. »

Gorsky recommends planning management of expectations and responses versus flying blind and welcoming the alternative.

« Usually circumstances are predictable, » she said.

  • Ex-NFL player Kyle Rudolph discusses Vikings’ QB decision, referees, the Super Bowl and NFL Draft giveaways

Kyle Rudolph left the Minnesota Vikings a couple seasons before they went 14-3 in 2022, when they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the New York Giants.

Two seasons later, they had almost a carbon copy of that campaign. This year, they went 13-4 but had another first-round playoff exit.

« You got to make the plays when it matters most, and they just didn’t do it each of those last playoff games, » Rudolph told Fox News Digital in a recent interview.

Now, the Vikings have to decide whether to keep Sam Darnold or hand the keys to the offense to J.J. McCarthy.

Minnesota drafted McCarthy with the 10th selection of last year’s NFL Draft, and he was in the running to start until a knee injury in the preseason ended his season. That gave the nod to Darnold, who took advantage of the opportunity and had, by far, the best season of his career.

Darnold was playing himself into a lucrative contract until his final two games. Now, who knows what he’ll get on the open market?

At the very least, he may get a decent deal like Baker Mayfield’s. But even that might be a lot for Minnesota, Rudolph said.

« Well, I think it really, so much in football comes down to the money piece. You know, when you have a salary cap, and you’re trying to build a roster, unfortunately, you have to make decisions that are solely based on the ramifications of the salary cap and what that does for your roster, » Rudolph said.

« So, when you look at Sam Darnold and the year that he had in Minnesota, there’s just so many factors that go into it ultimately for Sam. Does he want to go to the highest bidder? Do I think Minnesota can be the highest bidder? No, I do not. You have so much other talent on that roster that they would like to keep and have to pay. If that’s what Sam decides, and he wants to go to the highest bidder, I don’t think Minnesota has a chance.

« If Sam says, ‘I love playing for Kevin O’Connell. This is the best year of my career. He brings the best out of me, I love being on this team,’ I think he would have to take some sort of a discount. And then the third piece that comes in is, ultimately, you always have the franchise tag.

« So, if they were decide to franchise tag Sam, they could keep him on that one-year franchise tag deal. But, again, that makes things really, really tough on the salary cap because that’s a one-year full salary cap hit. So, it’ll be interesting what they decide.

« To this point, Kevin [O’Connell] has proved that it really doesn’t matter who the quarterback is. Jaren Hall, Josh Dobbs, Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold — he’s going to get the most out of him, and they’re going to go win football games. »

The Vikings will be home watching the Philadelphia Eagles try to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs, who are in their fifth Super Bowl in the last six years with a chance to three-peat.

It’s widely been argued Kansas City has the refs on their side. But Rudolph disputed the idea of any conspiracy or favoritism.

AARON RODGERS’ EX TEAMMATE THINKS QB ‘CAN STILL GET IT DONE’ WITH NFL FUTURE IN QUESTION

« If you go and look at the statistics and dive into kind of like where are the Chiefs compared to every other team in the NFL in terms of calls for and calls against, they’re kind of right there in the middle of the pack, » Rudolph said.

« But what is different about the Chiefs, they’re on national TV almost every week. They’re playing in primetime a whole lot. They’re always making deep playoff runs, five out of six years in the Super Bowl. Obviously, you have all the off-the-field publicity with Travis [Kelce] and Taylor [Swift] and Patrick’s stardom. It’s just, you see it a lot more.

« They look for things that trigger, ‘Oh, that’s a foul. That’s a penalty.’ It’s the slightest jersey grab, but that’s something that triggers their psyche to say, ‘Oh, I saw that jersey grab, I’m throwing the flag.’ It’s just an immediate reaction to them. So, no, I don’t think there’s favoritism. Obviously, in the world that we’re in today, if that were ever to be the case … we have all the resources in the world to find out … right? We would know. »

Rudolph spoke to Fox News Digital on behalf of his own charity, Alltroo, where fans can donate to the campaign, and in turn, those dollars go directly to players’ charities. But Rudolph and his partners have added a couple of twists.

This year, with just a $10 donation to Alltroo, fans can win both a trip to the Super Bowl with Drew Brees in New Orleans and an opportunity to announce a draft pick in Green Bay later this year if they donate to a Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee’s charity.

Considering that 94% of people who donate to Alltroo had never donated to a nonprofit before, Rudolph says it’s a « win-win » for everyone.

« What we wanted to create was an opportunity for die-hard sports fans, not just the high-net worth individuals or the big corporate brands, to have an opportunity to support us. And then the flip side is people are winning once-in-a lifetime experiences and items that may be out of reach.

« So, trying to create that win-win scenario where we’re raising additional funds for charity that wouldn’t otherwise be, and then, ultimately, offering these once-in-a lifetime experiences to fans that otherwise wouldn’t be able to afford it, » Rudolph said, noting that Super Bowl prices are « insanely out of price for a lot of people. »

« Whatever you’re willing to donate to these players’ causes, 100% of the proceeds will go directly to these player causes. So, we can just be the vehicle that passes through these donations and then, at the end of the day, a lucky fan’s gonna have the opportunity to go up there and announce a draft pick at the draft and realize someone else’s dream.

« So, all in all, super cool for me to have the opportunity as a former nominee to really spearhead this initiative on behalf of the league. For as little as a $10 donation, you have a chance to win. »

  • Here’s what happened during President Trump’s second week in office

The country began to see the effects of President Donald Trump’s policies in his second week in office, with the White House implementing tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China; border crossings plummeting; diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs shuttering; the federal workforce being faced with the decision to return to the office or to resign; and more.

As promised, Trump’s administration has been moving at warp speed to implement his agenda — signing more than 200 executive actions just hours after taking the Oath of Office.

Trump immediately cracked down on immigration, and by the beginning of his second week in office migrant encounters dropped significantly. The number of migrants arriving at the southern border plummeted by 63% as of Monday, Fox News Digital previously reported.

TRUMP-ERA SOUTHERN BORDER SEES MIGRANT ENCOUNTERS PLUMMET BY OVER 60% AS NEW POLICIES KICK IN

There were 7,287 migrant encounters at the southern border in the first seven days of the Trump administration  — from Jan. 20 through Jan. 26, with a daily average of 1,041 encounters a day.

That compares to 20,086 encounters a day during the final days of former President Joe Biden’s presidency — from Jan. 13 through Jan. 19.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem this week participated in an immigration enforcement raid in New York City Tuesday targeting « murderers, kidnappers, and individuals charged of assault and burglary. » The operation continued through Friday.

And Border czar Tom Homan said that as of Monday the Trump administration had removed and returned 7,300 illegal immigrants and had deported them to Mexico, Jordan, Brazil and El Salvador.

The president on Wednesday also signed the Laken Riley Act into law — the first piece of legislation to become law in his second administration.

TRUMP SIGNS LAKEN RILEY ACT INTO LAW AS FIRST LEGISLATIVE VICTORY IN NEW ADMINISTRATION

The measure, which advanced through the House and Senate in January, directs Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal immigrants arrested or charged with theft-related crimes, or those accused of assaulting a police officer.

The law also allows states to sue the Department of Homeland Security for harm caused to their citizens because of illegal immigration.

The law’s name honors a nursing student who was killed during a jog on the University of Georgia’s campus by an illegal immigrant, Fox News Digital previously reported. Jose Ibarra, who previously had been arrested but never detained by ICE, received a life prison sentence for killing 22-year-old Laken Riley.

Beyond the border, the president’s action to end DEI programs across the federal government has continued. Last week, the Office of Personnel Management ordered agency heads and directors to close their DEI offices.

And over at the Justice Department, Trump administration officials fired more than a dozen key officials who worked on Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team prosecuting Trump, after Acting Attorney General James McHenry said they could not be trusted in « faithfully implementing the president’s agenda. »

JUSTICE DEPARTMENT FIRES MORE THAN A DOZEN KEY OFFICIALS ON FORMER SPECIAL COUNSEL JACK SMITH’S TEAM

On Monday, an Office of Management and Budget memo was released, which aimed to freeze funding to various federal programs that were focused on DEI.

The memo issued a pause on all federal grants and loans aiming to eradicate « wokeness » and the « weaponization of government » to improve government efficiency.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt held her first-ever press briefing in the James S. Brady room on Tuesday and fielded many questions from reporters on the memo. She maintained that programs including Social Security benefits, Medicare, food stamps, welfare benefits and other assistance going directly to individuals would not be impacted.

But by Tuesday evening, a federal judge imposed an administrative stay, pausing the Trump administration’s action.

And on Wednesday, the White House opted to rescind the memo, but stressed to Fox News Digital that it was committed to freezing federal grants and loans aimed at woke programs. »

« In light of the injunction, OMB has rescinded the memo to end any confusion on federal policy created by the court ruling and the dishonest media coverage, » Leavitt told Fox News on Wednesday. « The Executive Orders issued by the President on funding reviews remain in full force and effect and will be rigorously implemented by all agencies and departments. »

Leavitt told Fox News that rescinding the memo « should effectively end the court case and allow the government to focus on enforcing the President’s orders on controlling federal spending. »

WHITE HOUSE STILL COMMITTED TO FREEZING ‘WOKE’ FUNDS DESPITE RESCINDING OMB MEMO

Also this week, the Office of Personnel Management sent a note to federal workers offering them the option to resign and receive full pay and benefits through Sept. 30. That option, which the administration referred to as a « Fork in the Road, » came after the administration demanded that all federal workers return to in-person, in-office work.

Federal workers have until Feb. 6 to decide if they will return to work or if they will resign.

The only federal workers who do not have the option are postal workers, members of the military, immigration officials, some national security officials, and any positions agency heads decide to carve out.

But the rapid changes came to a quick halt on Wednesday night around 9 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, after an American Airlines plane and Army helicopter collided near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport outside of Washington, D.C.

The flight had left Wichita, Kansas, earlier that day. All 67 people onboard both aircraft are presumed dead.

TRUMP ORDERS ASSESSMENT OF AVIATION SAFETY, NAMES ACTING FAA ADMINISTRATOR AFTER DEADLY DC PLANE CRASH

Those aboard the plane included « several members » of U.S. Figure Skating, including athletes, coaches and family members who had just attended the U.S. Figure Skating Championships held in Wichita, Kansas, from Jan. 20 to Jan. 26.

Trump Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy was confirmed on Tuesday and quickly took charge, immediately getting over to the Federal Aviation Administration building and launching an investigation into the horrific incident.

The president said that the deadly midair collision was a « confluence of bad decisions that were made and you have people that lost their lives, violently lost their lives. »

The president signed two executive orders appointing a new Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) deputy administrator, Chris Rocheleau, and ordering an immediate assessment of aviation safety and an elevation of « competence » over DEI.

TRUMP TO CREATE TASK FORCE TO PLAN ‘EXTRAORDINARY CELEBRATION’ FOR 250TH ANNIVERSARY OF AMERICA’S INDEPENDENCE

Meanwhile, the president also signed an executive order to create a Task Force 250 — a White House task force focused on coordinating the plans and activities surrounding the celebration of the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The president also signed a memo that would lift the collective bargaining agreements that former President Joe Biden put into effect before leaving office — agreements that White House officials said were designed to « constrain » the Trump administration from reforming the government.

EXCLUSIVE: TRUMP TO SIGN MEMO LIFTING BIDEN’S LAST-MINUTE COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENTS

And as for the Cabinet, Duffy was confirmed as Transportation secretary; Doug Burgum was confirmed as secretary of the Interior; Lee Zeldin was confirmed as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency; and Scott Bessent was confirmed as Treasury secretary.

Over in the Senate, Trump’s nominee for secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; nominee for FBI director Kash Patel; and nominee for director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard faced tough questions from senators during confirmation hearings.

WHITE HOUSE TO IMPOSE TARIFFS ON MEXICO, CANADA AND CHINA DUE TO ‘INVASION OF ILLEGAL FENTANYL’

And, at the end of the week, the White House confirmed that by Saturday the president would roll out tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China.

The president is imposing a 25% tariff on Mexico; a 25% tariff on Canada, and a 10% tariff on China.

« These are promises made and promises kept, » White House press secretary Leavitt said at a press briefing Friday.

And it’s only the end of week two.

Fox News Digital’s Adam Shaw, Diana Stancey, Bill Melugin and Emma Colton contributed to this report.

  • ‘Real Housewives’ star Luann de Lesseps says no salads after 6pm keeps her fit at 59

« Real Housewives of New York City » star Luann de Lesseps shared her surprising secrets for staying fit at 59.

During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the TV personality and cabaret performer, who recently launched her new Countess Cabaret Tour, revealed her top three tips for maintaining a svelte physique.

« You should not drink while you eat, » de Lesseps said, citing health and wellness advice she received during stays at Austrian spas.

‘REAL HOUSEWIVES’ STAR LUANN DE LESSEPS EXPLAINS WHY SHE STARTED DRINKING AGAIN AFTER TOUTING SOBRIETY

« People are drinking cold drinks while they eat. And what happens is digestion starts in the mouth. That’s why we salivate because, like when we’re hungry, you think — the burn — the digestive juices are already going. So, the most important thing is to chew a lot while you eat. Pay attention to that. And don’t drink while you’re eating.

« Europeans are thinner because they sip wine, » de Lesseps added. « They don’t drink big, cold drinks. That’s not their thing. And this is a very key thing in order to stay in good shape. Drink water 20 minutes before you eat or drink — whatever you want to drink. But 20 minutes before you eat and 20 minutes after. So, not while [eating] because it waters down your digestive enzymes and juices that metabolize your food. »

De Lesseps also advised people to practice portion control to avoid overeating and incorporate intermittent fasting into their diet regimens.

WATCH: LUANN DE LESSEPS SHARES HER THREE ‘BIG TIPS’ FOR STAYING FIT

« In America, we eat a lot. We get big portions. So, it’s about portion control as well, » she explained. « And eating slowly. And when you eat slowly, you don’t eat as much because it takes time for your brain to register that you have actually kind of had enough.

« So, it’s taking time to eat and taking your time and eating slowly and chewing well, » de Lesseps added. « And, this way, you feel satiated. And a lot of people just skip over that point and just eat everything.

« And, you know, listen, I’m guilty of the same thing sometimes, » she added. « But that’s how I stay fit. »

The TV personality told Fox News Digital she is an advocate for intermittent fasting, an increasingly popular diet method of time-restricted eating.

« I love fasting, » de Lesseps said. « Intermittent fasting, which is you eat late in the morning and you try not to eat [after] 6 p.m. because digestion will wake you up during the middle of the night. Like, if you have a steak at night, you’re bound to wake up in the middle of the night because digestion needs energy, so it wakes you up. »

De Lesseps also advises against eating a dish commonly labeled as healthy after a certain time.

« Another tip I got for you — [eat] protein and salad for lunch, something like that, because salad you should not eat after really 6 p.m, » she said.

« People think they’re eating — like they’re having a salad at night with their protein and all that, dressing, with parmesan cheese and croutons — and they’re like, ‘This is light.’ Well, the problem with salad is it’s 99% water. So, what is that doing? It’s watering down your digestion, just like if you had a drink.

‘REAL HOUSEWIVES’ STAR KYLE RICHARDS SAYS PHYSICAL CHANGES AFTER GIVING UP ALCOHOL ARE ‘INCENTIVE’ TO BE SOBER

« People are washing it down with drinks as well, so digestion’s out, » she added. « So, salad is a no-no after 6. Instead of that, cooked vegetables. Cooked vegetables have much more to give you than a salad ever will. Not to say that dark greens aren’t good for you. Arugula, spinach, iron filled with vitamins, but during the day. Or you make sautéed spinach at night, and you don’t have salad. »

The Connecticut native explained that staying active is another step that people should take to reach their health goals.

« I’m a jock, » she said. « I love sports. So, I’m very active. I think being very active is one of the best things that you can do in order to stay fit.

« It can be water aerobics. It can be just a walk to get your metabolism going in the morning or SoulCycle, if you really want to kill it. I’m not a big SoulCycle person, but sometimes I do SoulCycle. But I just feel like you have to be physically active.

« So, those are big tips, » she added. « It’s really about digesting, the way you eat and just keep it moving. »

WATCH: ‘REAL HOUSEWIVES’ STAR LUANN DE LESSEPS SAYS NO SALADS AFTER 6PM KEEPS HER FIT AT 59

De Lesseps, who is an original cast member of « The Real Housewives of New York City » and appeared in 13 seasons of the hit Bravo series, made her cabaret debut in 2017 with her show « #CountessAndFriends. » De Lesseps became a countess after she married French Count Alexandre de Lesseps in 1993.

The two divorced in 2009, and de Lesseps officially lost the title when she married Tom D’Agostino Jr. in 2016.

De Lesseps’ cabaret show, which aired during the Season 10 finale of « RHONYC » and featured appearances by her « RHONYC » co-star Sonja Morgan and actress Rachel Dratch, became a hit with fans.

After the success of her debut performance, de Lesseps launched her nationwide « #CountessAndFriends » tour. Last fall, she embarked on her « F Marry Kill » tour, which was directed by acclaimed Broadway director and producer Richard Jay-Alexander.

In December, de Lesseps returned to the road for her « A Very Countess Christmas » tour. The reality star is now headlining her international Countess Cabaret tour, which kicked off Saturday at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada. For her latest tour, de Lesseps teamed up again with Jay-Alexander, who previously directed shows for Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler and Kristin Chenoweth.

During all of her performances, de Lesseps wears ensembles pulled from the showroom of the fashion brand Jovani. De Lesseps and Jovani have a longtime partnership, and the prom dress retailer is a favorite with many of the other « Real Housewives. »

In 2019, de Lesseps released her original song, « Feelin’ Jovani, » along with an accompanying music video starring herself, « Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s » Cynthia Bailey and « Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ » Lisa Rinna. « The Real Housewives » executive producer and « Watch What Happens Live » host Andy Cohen also made a cameo appearance.

« Feelin’ Jovani » was de Lesseps’ fourth single after 2010’s « Money Can’t Buy You Class, » 2011’s « Chic C’est la Vie » and 2015’s « Girl Code. » In 2020, de Lesseps released her fifth song, « Viva La Diva, » which she co-produced with Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Desmond Child.

During her interview with Fox News Digital, de Lesseps shared that her cabaret tour shows will feature performances of all her original songs along with covers of hits by famous artists, including Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks.

« What I enjoy most is the shock on people’s faces because they don’t know my cabaret show from watching the ‘Housewives’ because it’s always about the drama, because of music rights. Bravo was not paying for me to sing ‘What’s Love Got To Do [With It]?’ » she said. « They’re not playing Tina Turner because that ain’t going to fly.

« I love the freedom I have with cabaret because I can do anything I want, say anything I want, sing anything I want. »

De Lesseps told Fox News Digital her songs were inspired by the friendships and feuds that she has had with her « Real Housewives » co-stars.

« Regardless of what those women have done to me over the years, cabaret? Life is not a cabaret. Well, it is for me because cabaret is my story that I write, » she said. « You know, it’s like life. You write your story. Nobody’s going to write your story for you. This is my story, right? And I think that they were always so jealous of the fact that I was successful at it. »

« It’s like ‘Jovani, Jovani.’ I’m like, ‘Well, « Feelin’ Jovani. »’ That’s where it comes from, » de Lesseps continued. « So, I’m inspired by these women all the time to write music. I won’t tell you who ‘Money Can’t Buy Class’ is after. But I’m inspired by them all the time.

« All my music stems a lot from the ladies, from my experience on the show, » she added. « And then when people come to my show, they’re in for a real treat. »

De Lesseps will also soon be seen again on the small screen. She is starring in the « Real Housewives » dating show spinoff series, « Love Hotel, » which will air on Peacock. De Lesseps filmed the show alongside « The Real Housewives of Orange County’s » Shannon Beador and « The Real Housewives of the Potomac’s » Gizelle Bryant and Ashley Darby.

While de Lesseps told Fox News Digital she couldn’t reveal many details about « Love Hotel, » she said she was excited for fans to watch it.

«  »It’s the first dating show for Bravo, » she said. « And we had a great time. I’m excited. I think people are going to love it. And it’s coming out in the spring, and so I’m super, super excited. »
