Coca-Cola confirmed a longtime freezer-aisle exit because of « shifting consumer preferences, » The Associated Press reported earlier this year.

Meanwhile, PepsiCo announced last year that it planned to reduce nearly 20% of its U.S. product offerings as part of an effort to focus on products with simpler ingredients and functional benefits. Food outlets have reported that more than 20 snacks could be affected, though PepsiCo has not confirmed every individual product.

Lay’s Sweet Potato Poppables are another snack reportedly being removed from shelves amid PepsiCo’s broader reductions.

The light, sweet potato-flavored snack no longer appears among the flavors on Lay’s current Poppables page. Reports have said the product is one of several Poppables varieties being discontinued, although PepsiCo has not confirmed.
« These were such a comfort food of mine, » one Reddit user lamented. Another said his girlfriend’s « heart breaks every time she goes to the store because they no longer carry them. »
