PICK A TEAM! While her dad’s season was spiraling out of control Saturday night in Lexington, Kentucky, Landry was in Texas rooting for the No. 1 team in the nation in the Red River Shootout. « U win some u lose some, » Landry wrote on TikTok when questioned about her ability to pick a winning team in the SEC.
In another video, Landry added, « And go Tigers. We’ll be watching at a bar when that game starts. »
UNRANKED OKLAHOMA KNOCKS OFF NO. 1 TEXAS IN WALK-OFF FASHION AFTER ARCH MANNING’S ROUGH 4TH QUARTER
Why go to a UT game and wear UT colors when your dad has to play this team on Nov. 14? « Spying, » she wrote.
Imagine Nick Saban’s daughter openly rooting for a rival SEC program back in like 2010 while her father was in the middle of absolute wars to win the league. This is where we’re at with this TikTok generation. Just like the players and coaches in the NIL era, the influencer daughters aren’t loyal either.

LSU has beaten a terrible Clemson program and a terrible Texas A&M team. Even the biggest of you SEC homers know that LSU shouldn’t be getting this sort of respect.
– Lee D. in Tampa writes: Good genes.
Kinsey: Based on my research, I don’t believe there’s ever been a mother-daughter sideline reporting tandem to work an NFL game. If we go even further, the NFL, to my knowledge, has never had a mother-daughter-daughter sideline reporting TRIO. Melissa’s daughters are twins. One goes to Auburn and the other goes to Stanford.
NFL QB & CHEERLEADER SISTER BELIEVED TO BE LEAGUE’S FIRST SIBLING DUO, BOAT RAMP FIGHT & EDDIE GEORGE’S HOUSE
Will they go into the family business? Stay tuned.
– Greg in Nebraska checks in: I read Screencaps Thursday and saw what you had written about signs in yards changing opinions. When I read it I was definitely a no. That would never impact my vote. Friday morning I was taking my daughter to school and saw a sign for a candidate that I know and was going to vote for in the yard a of a lefty house and now I’m a yes it will change my mind. The guy I thought I was voting for is the dad of a guy I worked with a few years ago. Met the dad a couple of times and he was a good guy so I was ok with voting for him. After I looked up what he supports, I’m voting for the other guy. I’m glad the lefty house had his sign or i would never have looked him up and would have voted for the wrong guy.
– Gen X. Warren in Florida has a message for the Dolphins: Congrats to the Bengals on their W.
I hope someone in the Ross family, owners of the Miami Dolphins, sees this. SELL THE TEAM! No one trusts you to make good decisions. No coach wants to work for you, no matter the money, because it’s such a toxic environment. But you’re making too much money to care (stadium). Sell the team to an owner who cares, and save the legacy! Us fans need to demand more, per Armando last year.
I’d say we’ll protest, but Mrs. Gen X Warren M. is a Lions fan, so we’re going to Lions at Miami game next month…
– Susan G. says: I truly believe the Dallas Cowboys will not be a winning team again until Jerry passes away and they replace Dak. I know I know he has a great pass completion percentage but he can’t do it when it counts. I am 67 years old and I have been a Cowboys fan since I can remember, but these days I don’t expect them to win. It is really sad!
How do I know? Wait until you see how many emails this topic generated over the weekend. Normally, I’ll get maybe six emails on a hot topic over a weekend because you guys have lives to live. This weekend, it was completely different. We have ourselves a hot topic.
– Kevin W. emails: I love the question about golf integrity. I belong to a private club, and it’s a constant debate. We like other clubs have a « men’s day » where all the tee times that day put money into a pot and play various games. This is where the convenience of technology created an issue. We, like yourself, and lots of other golf clubs, started using Golf Genius. Nice and convenient to enter scores; HOWEVER, it also posts scores as they are happening.
So, what happens when the guys who go off early post a good score? The late guys see the number they have to beat and BINGO, suddenly 5-footers are good, and those groups are winning everything.
Our club’s first solution to the problem was to buy a very expensive software called CAP patrol from a bunch of data scientists. Basically, it was the socialist version of golf handicaps that punished good golfers to even out the field for the higher handicappers. It would cherry-pick low rounds and say you’re better than your index and you MUST BE cheating otherwise. There were a ton of other factors, and nobody understood the algorithm of who got capped and who didn’t, and the company wouldn’t disclose it. It’s very popular with private clubs on the east and west coasts. We quickly scrapped it.
The simple solution this year was to go old school and stop the live scoreboard. Pretty much fixed the issue.
In general, if you want to fix giving short putts, always have a money game going. My group of guys rarely, if ever, just go out and play a round just to play. We always have some dollars on the line; even if it’s just a few bucks, it keeps the integrity there, as a short putt can change a game quickly.
Just my $.02
– Rural MN Dave agrees: I played in a group for many years that played strict rules of golf and no gimmes. One of the group members was playing on a 9 handicap but was really closer to a 6. The strength of his game was chipping and putting. One day he had an 18 inch birdie putt with several skins carryovers riding on it. He stepped up to the putt, taking his time and doing his regular routine, and cold yanked it, never even touched the hole. He looked up, red-faced, and said « and that’s why we don’t do gimmes! »
– Michael in Bossier City, Louisiana says: Your recent article on shaving golf scores did not shock me the least bit. I believe that gimmie putts really skew one’s score when playing the same course conditions. However, not all course conditions are equal. Do you play on a goat ranch city course or a private near PGA standards. I would love to witness a professional golfer score scratch or better on the city course I play regularly; bare fairways and tree roots jutting out in all directions.
Rolling the ball slightly to find that last remaining few blades of grass in the fairways or safety setting away from tree roots that are three inches exposed to the surface becomes a must for sanity; you are still accountable to that next golf shot. Now, I’ve played in regional and state tournaments that would white mark a tenth of my course as no play areas because of root or extreme bare spot areas. Then again, I’m not disagreeing with you on most of your points of play. If you are behind a tree or in the rough, then you need to hit your best way out and onto the green to putt it out.
More to note! I’m a 6.8 handicap in which I play a fairly nice city course other than the tree root issues and played Robert Trent courses resulting in a near score equivalence. Yes, plugging in the rough off the fairway, moving your ball for a way out of tree trouble and taking gimmie putts does mask one’s real ability. However, having a fake lower handicap which most tournaments only take 85% to prevent sandbaggers will hurt a delusional golfer in the end.
Well, hope you had time to read my opinion.
– Joyce tells us about her club’s gimme rule: Just think how many games and championships Ohio State would have won if the 3-foot gimme rule would have been in play for field goals and touchdowns.
Last year our women’s golf league finally adopted a 6-inch gimme rule, a measurement that we can easily imagine.

Look at the map and then look at NW Ohio where I live compared to the heart of the Smoky Mountains. I never would’ve thought I’m in a better comfortable weather location compared to the Smokies, but the data says otherwise.
– Chris B. in NC, formerly Florida, tells me: Here in the Smokies at 5,000’, we won’t get up to 60 very often from later this month until some time in March or even April. Also, it rains a lot, which is why everything here is so green and lush compared to the Rockies. It’s pretty rare to have a clear warm day during these months.
As for south Florida: the highs will be over 87 by early May and won’t really drop until nearly Thanksgiving. East coast is a little warmer than west, but you’ve been on the Gulf side in the summer. It’s steamy.

– Jon C. pushes back on this climate map: I live in the foothills of the Smokies so can shed a little light on the subject. The reason its called the Smoky’s is there are plenty of days where you have fog/mist covering the mountains, especially near lakes, giving it a look of smoke. Most of the time it burns off by mid morning in the summers but other times it can hang around. So guessing this effects the poster’s criteria of cloud cover. Given the temp range and low dew point, the poster skewed the results to make a small strip of the west coast look ideal. Maybe the guy lives there and wants bragging rights.
As someone that lived a part of his childhood in California and most of his life in Louisiana, moving to East Tennessee over 8 years ago has been fantastic weather wise (and just about any other wise). I live in that sweet spot where you experience all 4 seasons with each lasting about 3 months. Unlike LA where you had 50 weeks of summer, 1 of spring and fall, and 1 day of winter. CA you had 2 moths of rain and 10 months of dry.

Folks, that’s an excellent edition of Screencaps. This is exactly how I want to get a week started — with you guys leading the way. This column works because of the emailers. You drive the ship. Normally, I start out Monday talking about the NFL, but you don’t care. You want to talk life and I’m more than OK with that.
Let’s go out and have a great week. Keep playing full integrity golf and tell your playing partner he needs to putt out his birdies.
