  • Robert Levinson disappearance: FBI releases posters seeking info on two Iranian intelligence officers

The FBI released posters Tuesday seeking information about two senior Iranian intelligence officers involved in the disappearance of retired FBI Special Agent Robert Levinson as the agency is vowing to « hold every Iranian official involved in his abduction accountable. »

Levinson was working as a private investigator when he vanished in 2007 after traveling to Iran’s Kish Island. He had reportedly taken part in an unauthorized CIA mission and was presumed dead in 2020.

« The FBI remains steadfast in our commitment to return Bob to his family, » Sanjay Virmani, special agent in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office’s Counterterrorism Division, said in a statement. « Our extensive investigation continues to develop new leads and intelligence, and we will pursue all options to hold every Iranian official involved in his abduction accountable. »

The FBI said the two Iranian officers in the posters – Mohammed Baseri and Ahmad Khazai — « allegedly acted in their capacity as officials of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security during Bob’s abduction, detention, and probable death. »

IRAN’S COVERT NUCLEAR AGENCY FOUND OPERATING OUT OF TOP SPACE PROGRAM LAUNCH SITES

« For nearly 18 years, the Iranian government has denied knowledge of Bob’s whereabouts despite senior intelligence officials authorizing Bob’s abduction and detention and launching a disinformation campaign to deflect blame from the Iranian regime, » the FBI added.

The Treasury Department sanctioned both officers in December 2020.

TRUMP AND NETANYAHU EXPECTED TO DISCUSS IRAN, HAMAS AT WHITE HOUSE MEETING

« According to the designation, Baseri has been involved in counterespionage activities inside and outside Iran, as well as sensitive investigations related to Iranian national security issues. He has worked directly with intelligence officials from other countries to harm U.S. interests, » the FBI said. « Khazai has led MOIS delegations to other countries to assess security situations. »

A $5 million reward is still being offered by the FBI for information leading to Levinson’s location, recovery and return.

  • Common cancer type could be detected with new blood test

A new blood test was found to detect colon cancer with more than 80% accuracy — and to rule it out for 90% of healthy people.

The results were presented at the 2025 American Society of Clinical Oncology Gastrointestinal Cancers Symposium held in San Francisco late last month.

They were also published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.

WOMAN WITH CANCER REVEALS THE DIET THAT SHE SAYS SAVED HER LIFE

In the study, more than 27,000 adults between 45 and 85 had their blood drawn before undergoing a colonoscopy to screen for signs of cancer. The participants were enrolled between May 2020 and April 2022.

Researchers tested the blood samples for « molecular signals of advanced colorectal cellular changes » and then compared those results with the colonoscopy findings.

The sensitivity of the test, or its success rate at detecting existing colon cancer, was 81.1%, the researchers found.

The specificity of the test, which is the share of participants who did not have colon cancer and tested negative for it, was 90.4%.

CANCER DEATH RATES DECLINE YET NEW DIAGNOSES SPIKE FOR SOME GROUPS, SAYS REPORT

« Additional colorectal cancer screening tests that are convenient, safe and easy to complete are needed, » said lead study author Aasma Shaukat, MD, from NYU Grossman School of Medicine,  in a press release from the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO).

« Until now, we have only had stool-based tests and colonoscopy or sigmoidoscopy (stool-based). A blood test has the potential for improving colorectal cancer screening rates. »

Pamela Kunz, MD, from Yale School of Medicine, noted that the experimental blood test represents a « new tool in our toolbox » of colorectal cancer screening options.

« The study evaluated blood-based screening for colorectal cancer and may provide a convenient and effective option for colorectal cancer screening in the average-risk U.S. population, » Kunz, who was not involved in the study, stated in the same press release.

Pashtoon Kasi, MD, medical director of gastrointestinal medical oncology at City of Hope Orange County in California, was not involved in the study but noted that these types of blood tests — also known as « liquid biopsies » — are « revolutionizing cancer care. »

« It is a simple blood test looking at different components of cancers or tumors that are being shed in the bloodstream — hence, the term ‘liquid biopsy,’ » Kasi told Fox News Digital.

Several different kinds of these blood tests are already making their way into clinical practice, the doctor noted.

« Some are cancer-specific like this one, which will be geared toward early detection of colon and rectal cancer. Other liquid biopsy tests are what they call multi-cancer early detection tests (MCED) — meaning they can pick up multiple cancers in just one blood draw, » he said.

AI DETECTS OVARIAN CANCER BETTER THAN HUMAN EXPERTS IN NEW STUDY

The doctor noted that blood tests shouldn’t be used in place of colonoscopies, which remain the « gold standard » of colon cancer screening.

« Colonoscopies can prevent colon cancer through the detection and removal of polyps, non-cancerous growths in the lining of the bowel that can become cancerous, » Kasi said.

« Blood tests are designed to detect cancer, not prevent it. »

If cancer is detected during a blood test, additional tests like a colonoscopy will still need to be done, he added.

« Like most cancers, early detection of colon cancer typically results in better outcomes, » said Kasi. « Typically, colon cancer is slow-growing — and in its early stages, it can be asymptomatic. »

At least a third to half of people do not get colon cancer screenings, studies show — and the hope is that the blood test can help « fill the void, » according to Kasi.

« We know that a colonoscopy typically conjures up unpleasant thoughts of bowel prep, a liquid diet and embarrassment, so it is not a surprise that blood screening tests offer greater appeal, » he said, calling the blood-based test a « potential game-changer » in improving screening rates.

Expanded screening options are especially important given the trend of more people getting diagnosed with colon cancer under the age of 50.

« Colorectal cancer is on a particularly steep incline – so steep that by the year 2030, it will be the leading cause of cancer death for young adults in the United States, » Kasi warned.

« It will be imperative to expand research in this area and to have diagnostic testing that is available for a younger demographic. »

Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common cancer in the U.S. and the second-deadliest type, according to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.

Looking ahead, researchers will continue to study the long-term impact of the colorectal blood test, they noted.

« As blood-based tests get approval from regulatory bodies and Medicare and other payors, the tests will become available for clinical use, » lead study author Shaukat told Fox News Digital.

Blood-based tests are options for men and women between 45 and 85 who are at average risk for colon cancer and due for screening, the doctor noted.

COOKING OIL LINKED TO COLON CANCER IN EARLY STUDY, TIED TO INFLAMMATION

« If you have high risk family history or other medical condition that puts you at increased risk for colon cancer, the test is not an option, » he said. « Also, if the test is positive, it requires a colonoscopy to evaluate for colon polyps or colon cancer. »

For more Health articles, visit www.foxnews.com/health

The researcher recommends that patients talk with their providers about options for colorectal cancer screening, such as a stool test, blood test and colonoscopy, and select the one that is best for them.

The study did not receive any funding, the release stated.

  • Chicago alderman accuses Mayor Johnson only listening to ‘hyper-White liberal progressives’ on immigration

Several Chicago aldermen responded to Mayor Brandon Johnson’s defiant posture towards the Trump administration’s immigration policies.

The aldermen were asked if Johnson and city officials were listening to constituents’ voices on the issue.

« Absolutely not, » Alderman Nick Sposato told Fox News Digital. « The mayor is a friend of mine. He’s way left. I’m way right. I don’t know why he’s not listening to the people. I got to believe the majority of the people don’t want these bad people protected in our city and our state and our country. »

Over the past couple of years, frustration among residents has continued to grow at Johnson’s handling of an influx of migrants into the city. Their frustration has been displayed at several city council meetings where they complained about a proposed tax hike to address the city’s budget deficit, while the city spends more than half a billion dollars on sheltering migrants.

TRUMP’S BORDER CZAR TOM HOMAN UNVEILS ‘GAME-CHANGING’ MIGRANT NUMBERS UNDER NEW ADMIN

Despite backlash from residents, Johnson criticized ICE and the Trump administration after they began apprehending illegal immigrants in the city last month.

Alderman Ray Lopez said that Johnson only cares about the opinions of « hyper-liberal white progressives » who live in Chicago.

« He’s not concerned about African-Americans, he’s not concerned about Latinos, and he’s absolutely not concerned about undocumented Mexicans who will bear the brunt of his actions, » he said. « He is playing the game of chicken with their lives, and it’s disgusting. »

A few weeks ago, the Chicago city council blocked Lopez’s proposal that would have allowed local law enforcement to assist ICE to detain migrants with a criminal record.

« Why wouldn’t we allow them to be deported, especially if they’re guilty of the crimes that they’re accused of?, » Alderman Brian Hopkins told Fox News Digital. « He believes that he is such a strong advocate for human rights, no matter what your citizenship status is, that if you’re here and you’re not a citizen and you’re committing heinous crimes, he wants to protect you. »

Two illegal migrants were charged in the murder of a 63-year-old man whose body was found tied up at his Chicago home on Sunday. This occurred the same day that Trump’s border czar Tom Homan led an immigration enforcement operation in the city.

CHICAGO HORROR: 2 MIGRANTS CHARGED WITH MURDER AS HOMAN LEADS ICE RAIDS

« I have Venezuelan gangs—The Tren De Aragua and all the rest of them here fighting against my residents, fighting against local businesses, fighting against even the long-term undocumented who’ve made this their home, causing chaos and dangerous situations on the streets here. » Lopez said. « It’s important now more than ever to revisit this issue and do whatever we can do to work with our federal partners to get rid of these bad actors that are here in our communities and in our city. »

Johnson’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

  • Mom and MAHA supporter wants healthier world for kids

After years of writing about pop culture and politics on her popular blog, « House Inhabit, » Jessica Reed Kraus has become a core supporter of the MAHA movement, focused on helping to create a healthier America.

« It is definitely a memorable year, » the California-based Kraus told Fox News Digital on Jan. 29 outside Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s confirmation hearing on Capitol Hill. (See the video at the top of this article.)

Kennedy has been the main subject of Kraus’ politically oriented posts in recent months.

TOP INFLUENCERS IN THE MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN MOVEMENT: SEE THE LIST

« I started following [Kennedy] when he didn’t really have any media on his side, » she said. « So it was a huge shift in my coverage. »

Prior to this, « House Inhabit » was almost entirely a pop culture newsletter — and Kraus was known for her work covering celebrity trials.

Kraus said Kennedy was completely transparent, with nothing « really off the record » and « no restrictions. »

She added, « I got to know him outside political stuff. I got to spend time with him and his family, get to know who he is as a person and a politician. »

MARLA MAPLES ADVOCATES FOR HEALTHIER FOOD CHOICES FOR AMERICANS AMID RFK JR. HEARINGS

« Sure, I was having fun in Hollywood doing trials. I love trials. This kind of feels like that, » she said, referring to the confirmation hearing.

« But I shifted into politics just because I thought there were these two dynamic, big names: [President Donald] Trump and Kennedy. I’d grown up knowing about them, » Kraus added.

Kraus believed there was a « missing spot » for the way in which women interacted with politics, and what her readers – largely women and mothers themselves – were concerned about.

Kennedy, she said, « was a big draw » and was « very popular with my audience. »

Kraus said Kennedy has been extremely considerate toward people — especially mothers.

She said she was at the confirmation hearing « really because of the mothers. I followed him because I believe so many of these women are concerned about their children and vaccines and all of these (things). »

Unlike other politicians, Kennedy « was the only one investigating and looking into it, and treating them with respect, » Kraus said.

« I just think I’m so honored to be here today, » she added. « This is the finale, a grand finale of a long, crazy year-and-a-half. »

For more Health articles, visit www.foxnews.com/health

As the Make America Healthy Again movement gains momentum, ideas that may have been mocked in the past are driving the campaign, said Kraus.

« I think the MAHA movement is about refocusing our attention and science onto alternative means of health and medicine, » she said.

Kraus added, « I think Robert Kennedy is doing an incredible job bringing it to the forefront and actually just getting people to question what they’re putting in their cupboards. »

« We’re looking at what ingredients are in our cereal and what we’re feeding our kids in their lunches, » she said.

« [Kennedy] is the first one who’s kind of waking everybody up to that. »

Looking ahead, Kraus plans to continue writing and hopes to visit the White House in the future.

  • El Salvador agrees to accept US deportees of any nationality following meeting with Rubio

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele has offered for illegal immigrants – of any nationality – facing deportation in the U.S. to be booked in his country’s prison system in exchange for a fee.

This proposal comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio met with Bukele at his lakeside country house outside San Salvador on Monday.

« We have offered the United States of America the opportunity to outsource part of its prison system, » Bukele wrote on X Monday night. « We are willing to take in only convicted criminals (including convicted U.S. citizens) into our mega-prison (CECOT) in exchange for a fee. The fee would be relatively low for the U.S. but significant for us, making our entire prison system sustainable. »

Rubio said the Salvadoran president « has agreed to the most unprecedented, extraordinary, extraordinary migratory agreement anywhere in the world. »

RUBIO HEADS TO PANAMA, LATIN AMERICA TO PURSUE TRUMP’S ‘GOLDEN AGE’ AGENDA

« We can send them, and he will put them in his jails, » Rubio told reporters, referring to illegal immigrants behind bars in U.S. prisons. « And, he’s also offered to do the same for dangerous criminals currently in custody and serving their sentences in the United States, even though they’re U.S. citizens or legal residents. »

While Bukele did extend the offer to include violent American criminals, it is highly unlikely that part of the offer would actually happen, since it is illegal to deport U.S. citizens. A U.S. official said the Trump administration has no plans to deport American citizens, but noted that Bukele’s offer was significant.

The proposal with El Salvador, known as a « safe third country » agreement, could potentially be an option for Venezuelan gang members convicted in the U.S. if Venezuela refuses to accept them, and Rubio said Bukele offered to accept detainees of any nationality.

Bukele also said he would take back all Salvadoran MS-13 gang members in the U.S. illegally, and promised to accept and incarcerate criminal illegal aliens from any country, especially those affiliated with Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua gang.

Manuel Flores, the secretary general of the leftist opposition party Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front, argued that the « safe third country » plan would paint the region as the U.S. government’s « backyard to dump the garbage. »

TRUMP ANNOUNCES VENEZUELA WILL TAKE CRIMINAL ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS BACK

Rubio was visiting El Salvador to push for more help in supporting President Donald Trump’s mass deportation plan. He arrived in San Salvador shortly after watching a U.S.-funded deportation flight carrying 43 illegal immigrants leave from Panama for Colombia.

The deportation flight had 32 men and 11 women detained by Panamanian authorities after illegally crossing the Darien Gap from Colombia. The State Department said the deportations send a message of deterrence.

« Mass migration is one of the great tragedies in the modern era, » Rubio said afterward. « It impacts countries throughout the world. We recognize that many of the people who seek mass migration are often victims and victimized along the way, and it’s not good for anyone. »

Rubio’s trip comes during a sweeping freeze on U.S. foreign assistance and stop-work orders that have shut down taxpayer-funded programs targeting illegal immigration and crime in Central America. The State Department said that the secretary had approved waivers for certain critical programs in countries he is visiting.

The secretary will continue to urge foreign leaders to do more to help the U.S. combat illegal immigration, including in his next stops in Costa Rica, Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, which are part of his five-nation Central American tour following the visits to Panama and El Salvador.

  • Eagles’ Jalen Hurts avoids famous name for wildly successful play: ‘I keep it very standard’

The Philadelphia Eagles’ success in short-yard situations has yet to be duplicated.

The so-called « tush push » took the NFL by storm a few years ago. Quarterback Jalen Hurts lines up under center, and as he snaps the ball, he’s pushed across the line to gain or the goal line for a new set of downs or a touchdown.

It was the success of the play that helped them extend drives and land the Eagles in the Super Bowl two years ago. Philadelphia is back in the Super Bowl, and the « tush push » is firmly on the mind of NFL fans ahead of Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

But Hurts admitted he doesn’t fall into the hoopla around the play and keeps the name of it « very standard. »

« That’s what you call it. I call it the quarterback sneak, » Hurts said. « I keep it very standard. »

The « tush push » was stopped only four times during the 2023 season, and it became a hotly contested topic: Should the NFL ban the play?

NFL executive Troy Vincent threw cold water on that notion last February.

« Don’t punish a team that strategically does it well, » Vincent said during an appearance on « Pro Football Talk Live » at the time.

Whether you call it the « tush push » or the « brotherly shove, » it seems the play will be in the spotlight once again.

The Washington Commanders failed to stop it multiple times and their consistent offsides in the NFC Championship nearly caused the refs to award Philadelphia a score.

It will be up to the Kansas City Chiefs to load up its front in an attempt to stop it this time.

  • Trump scores big legal win against Pulitzer Prize board members as lawsuit moves to discovery

President Donald Trump scored a significant legal win Monday in his lawsuit against the members of the Pulitzer Prize Board, paving the way towards the discovery phase in their courtroom battle.

Last week, the board members filed a motion for Protective Order Governing Discovery in hopes of shielding their internal communications involving the decision to award The New York Times and The Washington Post a Pulitzer Prize for their reporting on Russiagate during Trump’s first term in office.

Judge Robert L. Pegg of the 19th Judicial Circuit Court in Okeechobee County, Florida, stuck down their motion.

« The rule requires ‘an affirmative showing of annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden or expense’ from such party or person… Defendants have failed to meet this requirement, as there is no factual support in the record demonstrating that any defendant, much less each defendant, would be subject to annoyance, embarrassment, oppression, or undue burden or expense if a protective order is not entered, » Pegg wrote in his filing.

TRUMP FILES DEFAMATION SUIT AGAINST MEMBERS OF PULITZER PRIZE BOARD FOR DEFENDING ‘DEBUNKED’ RUSSIAGATE HONORS

« President Trump is committed to holding those who traffic in deception and fake news to account, » Trump attorney Quincy Bird told Fox News Digital. « The defendants, hiding behind the once-prestigious Pulitzer Prizes, attempted to resurrect a left-wing hoax by giving, as well as continuing to stand by and republishing, its disgraced award to the organizations that drove the infamous ‘Russia Russia Russia’ hoax. »

« This was a defamatory scam designed to damage President Trump’s image and presidential campaign. After today’s win in court, this case will now proceed to a very thorough discovery process and President Trump
is committed to seeing this case through to a just conclusion, » Bird added.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Pulitzer Prizes for comment.

In 2022, Trump filed a defamation lawsuit against the Pulitzer Prize Board over the 2018 National Reporting prizes given to the Times and Post for coverage of the « now-debunked theory » of alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.

The lawsuit states that a « demonstrably false connection was and remains the stated basis » for the coverage that received the prestigious award.

PULITZER PRIZES STAND BY 2018 RUSSIAGATE HONORS TO NY TIMES, WAPO AFTER SCATHING LETTER FROM TRUMP’S TEAM

The staff of the Times and Post shared the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for « deeply sourced, relentlessly reported coverage in the public interest that dramatically furthered the nation’s understanding of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and its connections to the Trump campaign, the President-elect’s transition team and his eventual administration, » according to the Pulitzer website.

« A large swath of Americans had a tremendous misunderstanding of the truth at the time the Times’ and the Post’s propagation of the Russia Collusion Hoax dominated the media, » the complaint states. « Remarkably, they were rewarded for lying to the American public. »

The complaint made a series of points indicating why it feels the Pulitzer Prize-winning stories are unworthy of the honor, including Special Counsel Robert Mueller failing to find evidence of collusion, and a DOJ Inspector General Report outlining malfeasance by federal investigators.

Trump’s team previously called for « a full and fair correction, apology, or retraction » to be issued, in addition to the 2018 prizes being rescinded, but the Pulitzer Prize Board declared the awards would stand.

TRUMP SCOLDS PULITZER PRIZE BOARD FOR STANDING BY 2018 RUSSIAGATE HONORS: ‘BIGGEST REPORTING FAILURE’

« The Pulitzer Prize Board has an established, formal process by which complaints against winning entries are carefully reviewed. In the last three years, the Pulitzer Board has received inquiries, including from former President Donald Trump, about submissions from The New York Times and The Washington Post on Russian interference in the U.S. election and its connections to the Trump campaign–submissions that jointly won the 2018 National Reporting prize, » the Pulitzer Prize Board previously wrote. .

This latest legal victory comes on the heels of ABC News’ $15 million settlement and Meta’s $25 million settlement with Trump in recent weeks. CBS News’ parent company Paramount is reportedly mulling its own settlement to end the network’s high-stakes legal battle against Trump. Trump also has filed a lawsuit against The Des Moines Register and veteran pollster Ann Selzer.

The case against the Pulitzer board members is one of the many legal fronts, criminal and civil, being coordinated by Trump’s Senior Counsel Boris Epshteyn.

« That’s why me and my family made the decision to come to Philadelphia, to have an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. And here we are, » he said.

Barkley joined the Eagles in the offseason after the New York Giants allowed him to test the free-agent waters. • Hero ‘band dads’ take down elderly active shooter at Texas high school

The swift actions of four tactically trained « band dads » helped prevent a bigger tragedy after they took down an active shooter who opened fire at a band competition at a high school in Texas.

The Pasadena Police Department confirmed that 83-year-old Dennis Brandl was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he allegedly opened fire at a local high school’s band competition.

Around 6 p.m. on Sunday, police, along with the Pasadena Independent School District and Angelton Independent School District, said an elderly male identified as Brandl walked into the entrance of the auditorium after a drum line competition. Officials said he was carrying a handgun and fired it.

He got off two shots, according to the Angelton ISD, with one striking a door and another hitting a 26-year-old in the shoulder.

The district said the victim is a percussion technical consultant for Angleton High School and was taken to a Houston hospital, where he never lost consciousness and is expected to make a full recovery.

Moments after firing the gun, Brandl was tackled by a parent in attendance at the event.

Pasadena ISD police, a civilian and several good Samaritans immediately apprehended the suspect, the school district confirmed.

FOX 26 Houston identified the heroes as Air Force veteran Abram Trevino, Army veteran Adam Curow, Marine veteran Efrain (Polo) Castillo and Houston Police Department Sgt. Joe Sanchez.

Trevino and Curow both served for 13 years, and Castillo served for four. Sanchez has worked for the Houston Police Department for 32 years.

« As soon as everyone was screaming and yelling, gunshots fired, Joe and myself looked at each other and ran straight to the door. By the time we got inside, Polo and Abram were right behind us as a band dad team, » Curow told FOX 26.

« I grabbed his arms while Adam took the gun out. Once the gun was removed from his hands, we had no handcuffs, so I took my belt off and made a handcuff, » Sanchez described to FOX 26.

The four men restrained Brandl until law enforcement arrived at the school.

« I think anybody with our collective backgrounds would just do that just out of nature, » Trevino said.

Police said that while they do not know the motive for the shooting, they are « confident that the actions of the bystanders will prove to be heroic. »

GOOD SAMARITAN CLOTHESLINES ALLEGED PORCH PIRATE FLEEING COPS: ‘PICK SOMEWHERE ELSE’

« We are grateful for the brave citizens and the officers who were on the scene for security at the game and courageously stepped up to detain the shooter and prevent any possible further violence, » Pasadena police wrote in a statement on their Facebook page.

The Houston Police Department praised Sanchez and thanked him for this selfless act.

« When danger struck, HPD Sergeant Joe Sanchez didn’t hesitate, » the department wrote in a statement on X.

« While attending a band competition at a Pasadena school, Sgt. Sanchez was among those who quickly stepped up to protect lives. This month, he marks 33 years with HPD. We’re grateful for his service. »

The school district said Brandl was not affiliated with the band contest, and it is currently being investigated why he was at the campus.

Police said Brandl claimed he was being chased by someone and that he was afraid he and his wife would be killed.

He is currently being held without bond.

« Our thoughts and prayers are with all involved. I am so proud of our staff members, police from our district and city, and community members who made sure there was no further harm that could have taken place, » Pasadena Independent School District Superintendent DeeAnn Powell wrote in a statement.

  • Kevin Costner’s ex Christine Baumgartner flashes ring on outing with new fiancé

Kevin Costner’s ex-wife, Christine Baumgartner, is happily flashing her new sparkler while out-and-about with her fiancé, Joshua Connor.

On Jan. 30, Baumgartner and Connor were spotted in Montecito, California, smiling as he had his arm around his soon-to-be bride. Baumgartner had her arm around Connor’s back, showing off her engagement ring.

Baumgartner, who finalized her divorce from the « Yellowstone » star in February 2024, wore a camel-colored long sleeve top, with a black puffer vest. She paired the look with black pants, a pair of black loafers and a white trucker hat.

Connor, who is a financier, wore a black half-zip sweater, dark denim jeans and black sneakers during their outing.

KEVIN COSTNER’S EX ENGAGED TO FAMILY FRIEND NEARLY ONE YEAR AFTER FINALIZING DIVORCE WITH ‘YELLOWSTONE’ STAR

News of the pair’s engagement rocked headlines the day before the photos were taken.

Connor reportedly proposed after an intimate dinner in Santa Barbara, California. « It was about to rain, so almost no one else was on the beach when Josh got down on one knee, » a source told People at the time.

Romance rumors between Baumgartner and Connor sparked in July 2023 when the couple was spotted on vacation in Hawaii.

Nearly one year later, the pair confirmed their relationship while walking hand-in-hand together in Santa Barbara shortly after she finalized her divorce with Costner.

Baumgartner filed for divorce on May 1, 2023, citing irreconcilable differences. In documents obtained by Fox News Digital, she cited April 11 as the date of separation.

She initially requested $248,000 in monthly child support for their three children, and a judge set a temporary monthly sum of $129,755 in July, only to rule in September that Costner would be responsible for $63,209 in monthly child support payments.

Connor’s name became a focal point during Baumgartner and Costner’s child custody payment hearing last year when Costner’s legal team called into question a $20,000 loan from a « boyfriend » who they named as Josh.

Fox News Digital was in the courthouse when Baumgarter took the stand and said Connor was a longtime friend of « seven or eight years. » When Rydell asked, « Is he your boyfriend? » Baumgartner replied, « No. »

She recalled traveling to Hawaii in March with Connor and his daughter, and a group of friends. Costner didn’t go because « he wanted to do a speech with a hunting club. » The Costners paid for the vacation home where the families stayed.

On July, Baumgartner traveled back to Hawaii with a group of friends and their children, including Connor and his daughter, who is « best friends » with Grace Costner, 13. Baumgartner said Connor « paid for the house. »

When Rydell asked about claims Connor « gave Christine money, » she said, « I can’t remember if it was before or after (the March or July trips to Hawaii.) » She continued, « He gave me $20,000. »

Of the $20,000, the purse designer said, « I gave $10,000 to my mother. » She then became emotional on the stand. « She was concerned about her house, » Baumgartner noted.

  • Trans Oscar nominee Karla Sofía Gascón cries, laments being ‘sacrificed and crucified’ for old tweets

The first openly transgender Oscar nominee for Best Actress, Karla Sofía Gascón, spoke out after being criticized for past controversial social media posts.

The Academy Award contender, who starred in « Emilia Pérez, » has been in hot water the past week after numerous old tweets emerged criticizing a variety of groups. These posts ranged from slamming multiple religions as the « f—ing beliefs of morons that violate human rights, » to referring to George Floyd shortly after his death as a « drug addict swindler. » In that latter post, Gascón appeared to criticize both sides of the debate over Floyd’s death, such as those who « still consider black people to be monkeys » and those who « consider policemen to be assassins. »

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gascón responded to the massive public backlash by setting up an interview with CNN en Español, « without the involvement of anyone working on the film, which was distributed by Netflix. »

The performer offered, « my most sincere apologies to all the people who may have felt offended by the ways I express myself in my past, in my present and in my future, » but vowed not to step down from the nomination during the tearful interview.

DEMI MOORE’S OSCAR NOMINATION MARKS CAREER HIGH AFTER NEARLY QUITTING HOLLYWOOD

« I cannot renounce a nomination because what I have done is a job and what is being valued is my acting work, » Gascón told anchor Juan Carlos Arciniegas, according to The Hollywood Reporter. « And I cannot renounce a nomination either because I have not committed any crime nor have I harmed anyone. I am not a racist, nor am I anything that all these people have taken it upon themselves to try to make others believe that I am. »

The Oscar nominee instead argued, as translated by Google, « I believe that I have been judged, condemned and sacrificed and crucified and stoned without a trial and without the option to defend myself. »

TEEN GIRLS OPEN UP ON TRANS ATHLETE SCANDAL THAT TURNED THEIR HIGH SCHOOL INTO A CULTURE WAR BATTLEGROUND

Gascón also attempted to clarify comments about Floyd, with the Hollywood Reporter summarizing the performer had « merely intended to point out the hypocrisy surrounding his elevation as a symbol of oppression. »

« He was a person who had been in a very difficult situation in his life and no one had helped him, and suddenly he becomes a symbol of a cause and everyone loved him, » Gascón told Arciniegas, as translated by The Hollywood Reporter. « But for someone to think that…  I have ever insulted a person because of their skin color, I do not allow that to anyone, to anyone. »

Fox News Digital reached out to Gascón’s management last week and did not receive an immediate reply.

  • Legal experts say RFK Jr.’s move to give financial interest in vaccine lawsuits to family is ‘not unusual’

Amid scrutiny over Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s pledge to transfer his financial interest in vaccine lawsuits to his family, legal experts have criticized the move but note that Kennedy’s approach is not significantly different from actions taken by other public officials in the past.

During Kennedy’s confirmation hearings last week, the potential next secretary of Health and Human Services was probed over his financial stake in personal-injury lawsuits tied to vaccines, in particular his ties to a suit against pharmaceutical company Merck and its Gardasil cervical cancer vaccine. While Kennedy would not initially commit to letting go of his stake against Merck, he reversed course in a written response to lawmakers’ questions following a hearing, noting he would amend his pledge and « will divest my interest in any such litigation via an assignment to my non-dependent, adult son. »

While some legal experts have argued the move does not go far enough to quash potential conflicts for Kennedy, others say this approach is akin to that taken by several other public officials who have found themselves in a similar situation. Meanwhile, one legal expert suggested to Fox News Digital that the pass from Kennedy to his son « is more than sufficient to meet any ethical concerns. »

LA TIMES OWNER SLAPPED WITH COMMUNITY NOTE AFTER AUTHOR OF RFK JR OP-ED CLAIMS ARTICLE EDITED OUT CRITICISM

« That may comply with ordinary conflict of interest issues, » Jim Copland, director of legal policy at the Manhattan Institute, said. « I just don’t think the head of the Department of Health and Human Services has any business being involved in any way with litigation against Merck. »

Fellow Manhattan Institute legal expert Ilya Shapiro said he is unsure whether Kennedy’s move will suffice in avoiding any real conflict, but added that he did recognize « it’s not unusual in light of past examples. »

Both Democrats and Republicans have used family to shield themselves from ethics complaints related to their personal business dealings, with former President Joe Biden being a recent and notable example after a multi-year probe into his family business dealings that found both his son and brother were engaged in risky business relationships with foreign entities, such as China. Biden has repeatedly denied his involvement in those business dealings.

Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi similarly sought to defend her family’s business dealings after it was revealed her husband was making money investing in companies that had business in front of his wife. In response to questions from reporters about whether she agreed with efforts to ban federal lawmakers’ spouses from trading in stocks, Pelosi replied that « they should be able to participate in that. »

Other notable figures who have used their families to shield their personal business dealings include President Donald Trump, who handed over control of his Trump Organization business empire to his sons, and the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, whose investor husband, Richard Blum, managed investments through his firm Blum Capital Partners that often intersected with his wife’s work while she was in Congress.

TRUMP-ALIGNED GROUP PUTTING PRESSURE ON REPUBLICAN SENATORS IN PUSH TO CONFIRM RFK JR.

« It is my opinion that RFK, Jr.’s plan to pass on any financial stake in possible vaccine injuries to his son is more than sufficient to meet any ethical concerns, » Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at the Heritage Foundation, told Fox News Digital. « This is particularly true because of the limitations imposed by federal law on any claims made against vaccine manufacturers that severely limit possible compensation for anyone claiming a vaccine was somehow defective. »

Spakovsky posited that the federal government’s National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program, which prohibits civil litigation against drugmakers and instead directs the federal government to administer any vaccine-injury payments, serves to buffer the impact Kennedy could potentially have on vaccine-related injury payments.

« RFK would have no authority whatsoever [over this program], » he said. « The point is that all of this is so disconnected from RFK, Jr.’s potential Cabinet position if he is confirmed, that anyone who says this is a ‘serious’ ethics problem is wrong. »

Copland, who agreed with Spakovsky that the vaccine compensation program diminishes much of Kennedy’s advantage, said RFK Jr. could still benefit in an indirect manner.

« I think it’s a more concerning conflict of interest than just saying, ‘Oh, you own a lot of equity interest in some company that may incidentally benefit you know,’ » Copland said. « I mean, if you had a Defense Department secretary who was a CEO of a major military contractor, and then he passes that off to his son, I think you’d still have a concern about that due to the obvious conflict of interest there, which is different than a sort of ordinary, ‘Oh, I own a company, and it’s going to, incidentally, benefit from the government.’ »

RFK JR SPENT WEEKEND TALKING TO KEY SENATOR WHO COULD MAKE OR BREAK HIS CONFIRMATION

Fox News legal analyst Andy McCarthy was more critical of Kennedy’s decision to pass off his financial interests to his son, noting that the fact he is « struggling to come up with a scheme to retain his stake, rather than doing the obvious right thing by abandoning it, underscores that this is a real conflict of interest. »

« The comparison to family asset transfers in other contexts is inapposite and, in any event, misses the point, » McCarthy said. « Whatever one thinks of President Trump’s arrangements regarding his family business, voters knew about that business and elected him anyway – and the president is not in a position to recuse himself from executive decision-making based on conflicts of interest. By contrast, Kennedy wasn’t elected by anyone. »

McCarthy added that after years « of justifiably complaining that President Biden was corruptly enriched by payments… made to his son and brother, » he finds it hard to believe « that Republicans can turn a blind eye to a financial stake, which would create a significant conflict of interest for RFK Jr. as HHS secretary, on the pretext that he plans to transfer the stake to his son. »

  • Stacey Abrams-founded voter activist group hit with mass layoffs after record-breaking ethics fine

A nonprofit voter engagement group founded by high-profile Georgia perennial candidate Stacey Abrams reportedly suffered dozens of layoffs two weeks after facing a six-figure state ethics fine for campaign finance violations.

Scores of workers at the New Georgia Project (NGP) have been laid off since Dec. 27, with a dozen more being pink-slipped at the end of January, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

The group describes itself as a « nonpartisan effort to register, civically engage, and build power with the New Georgia Majority… the growing population of Black, brown, young and other historically marginalized voters. »

It received attention for helping Democrats flip Georgia in 2020 – when Republicans lost both the presidency and its two Senate seats within three months’ time.

JIMMY CARTER’S DEATH SPURS OUTPOURING OF TRIBUTES FROM STATE LEADERS OF BOTH PARTIES

NGP could not be reached by phone and did not respond to a comment request through its contact form.

However, a GoFundMe for affected employees set up by NGP policy director Stephanie Ali described the layoffs and said those subject to the latest round had only three days’ notice.

The GoFundMe description said the NGP « has stated these reductions in force (RIFs) are due to economic downturns, reductions in fundraising in an ‘off’ election year, and other contributing factors. »

Last month, the state ethics commission found both the organization and its political action fund unlawfully performed work for Abrams’ 2018 gubernatorial bid while failing to report donations and expenditures.

The Georgia Ethics Commission probed the groups and discovered more than $7 million combined was raised for Abrams – a former state House minority leader from Atlanta – and others that cycle.

It administered a Peach State record $300,000 fine via a settlement that involved admission of 16 examples of illegal activity, according to Atlanta News First.

The panel also found that the groups stepped out of legal bounds in connection to a 2019 voter referendum aimed at expanding transit services in Gwinnett County, Georgia’s second-most populous county after Fulton, which includes Atlanta.

CONSERVATIVE GROUP LAUNCHING MASSIVE VOTER REGISTRATION OPERATION IN GEORGIA

Abrams founded the NGP in 2014, but told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that she left the group in 2017 when she decided to run against now-Gov. Brian Kemp.

« The setbacks at NGP are disappointing, and my thoughts are with those laid off, » she told the paper’s « Politically Georgia » vertical. « Regardless of [NGP’s] structure, I will never stop believing in the mission of ensuring every Georgian can make their voice heard. »

After Abrams’ departure, Ebenezer Baptist Church Rev. Raphael Warnock led the group until 2019. Fox News Digital reached out to the now-Democratic U.S. senator for his reaction.

Cody Hall, a senior advisor to Kemp, told Fox News Digital he wondered: « What did Stacey Abrams know and when did she know it? »

« Abrams founded NGP, her people ran it for years, and we’re all supposed to believe she knew nothing? Give us a break, » Hall said.

« Everything we said for the last 10 years about Abrams and her organization was true. »

When asked for comment, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones slammed Abrams for using « activists in the mainstream media to try to pull the wool over Georgians’ eyes. »

The likely future candidate for higher office added Abrams was « embarrassed » by Kemp two cycles in a row and is « embarrassed again » that her group’s « illegal grift is being exposed. »

« The people of Georgia are good judges of character, and the liberal national media are not. Stacey Abrams will go down as one of the biggest frauds in the history of Georgia politics, but I have no doubt the media will learn nothing from this, » Jones said.

« We as Georgia Republicans must stay ready to defeat whoever the next Marxist grifter is in 2026. »

Georgia’s Republican Senate President John F. Kennedy called the NGP news « the tip of the iceberg » for Abrams.

« How many more millions will she fleece from donors to enrich herself or skirt campaign finance rules until the spigot turns off? »

Georgia Senate Minority Leader Harold Jones II, a Democrat, declined comment.

According to Atlanta’s FOX affiliate, NGP helped 55,000 Georgians register to vote, more than 80% of whom were Black and 40% were ages 18-25.

  • Oklahoma superintendent who brawled with CNN over ICE entering schools doubles down: ‘Deported together’

Oklahoma State School Superintendent Ryan Walters pushed back after a clash on CNN over his openness to allowing Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers into schools – with Walters doubling down and rejecting « sanctuary schools. »

Walters had told local media that he would not rule out allowing federal agents into schools to remove illegal immigrants, amid an ongoing deportation operation since President Donald Trump took office.

The Trump administration has lifted a Biden-era « sensitive places » mandate, which prevented agents from entering schools amid concerns that illegal immigrants could use such places to hide from enforcement. It has sparked pushback from some local officials.

CNN ANCHOR SPARS WITH OKLAHOMA SUPERINTENDENT OVER ICE RAIDS ON SCHOOLS: ‘JUST ANSWER MY QUESTION’

However, Walters, in an interview with Fox News Digital, said that such moves could be necessary to avoid family separation.

« Are the Democrats and now the left-wing media the party of family separation? If you have adults that are going to be deported from this country, do you not want the Trump administration to know where their kids are, where they’re enrolled in school, so that if the family is to be deported, they’re actually deported together? » he asked.

It led to a furious back-and-forth with CNN host Brianna Keilar, who asked him if it would be traumatic for kids.

« Do you think it would be traumatic for students to witness a raid in their school and students forcibly removed from their school? Do you think that would be traumatic? »

TRUMP-ERA SOUTHERN BORDER SEES MIGRANT ENCOUNTERS PLUMMET BY OVER 60% AS NEW POLICIES KICK IN

Walters answered, « I think what would be traumatic is if you didn‘t give President Trump the information necessary to keep families together. So what you would prefer is to just deport the parents and have the kids have no idea what happened to their parents? What we‘re— »

« That’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking you….That’s not at all what I’m asking, superintendent, » Keilar interrupted again.

Many members of the media have also taken issue with a recent rule change by the Oklahoma State Board of Education, titled « Enhancing Enrollment Transparency, » which requires each school district to report the number of students enrolled in schools who are unable to provide proof of citizenship or legal status. According to the rule, the new policy is designed to « provide greater transparency » and to « support the needs » of the schools and students.

« We’re saying we want to see your driver’s license, we want to see which country you came from, if you’ve come into the country illegally. I think that is a very commonsense requirement that we’re putting out there. We want to make sure that we’re asking for this information so that we can accurately use resources and personnel in the state to educate our children, » Walters explained. « I think that our taxpayers or our citizens understand that. And the left tries to gaslight the American people into acting like this is some kind of absurd ask. »

ICE CRACKDOWN SEES 7,400 ILLEGAL MIGRANTS ARRESTED IN 9 DAYS

Speaking to Fox Digital, Walters stood by his stance, noting Trump’s victory at the voting booth in November.

« We’re talking about families, we’re talking about adults, the adults are in the country illegally. And we’re trying to make sure the Trump administration has the information to move forward with the most aggressive deportation policy in our nation’s history that the American people clearly support, » he said.

« The president won an overwhelming victory with his election. He won every swing state. He won every county in Oklahoma. So you look at this and you say: ‘CNN, left wing media, Democrats, you don’t want to have the real conversation because it requires you to admit you created this problem.’ Now the adults are in charge trying to fix it by shutting down the border, deporting illegal immigrants, » he said.

MORE ILLEGAL MIGRANTS BUSTED RUNNING MASSIVE GUN-RUNNING OPERATIONS

Walters also pointed to the impact of illegal immigration on schools in Oklahoma, including the necessary diversion of resources.

« While the left continues to go out and defend and champion the cause of illegal immigrant criminals, we’re looking at the American citizen, Oklahomans, and we’re sitting here saying, ‘listen, what about the kid that’s over a year behind in reading who we’ve now put in a tutoring program? They’re getting caught back up, now all of a sudden, all the tutors have to be diverted because of illegal immigrants that have flocked to their city and flocked to their hometown,’ » he said.

« Outlets like CNN and other left-wing outlets refuse to talk about the compassion for the victims’ families who have been targeted by the crimes committed by illegal immigrants. They refuse to talk about compassion when it’s your students of American citizens that have fallen behind in school, are working to get caught back up and yet, all of their resources are being moved at the last minute. They refuse to talk about compassion when you see the deaths caused by fentanyl, that oftentimes what a student tries it for the first time and they drop dead, » he said. « Americans are tired of it. »

He also pointed to the flow of drugs and criminals into the U.S. via the porous southern border.

« And we know that over 99% of that fentanyl has come across the border. So the left, they can cry their crocodile tears. It’s complete phony outrage that they act like that, » he said. « They have compassion for illegal immigrants. They have no compassion for the American citizens, for the American people, for the American worker. And Americans are tired of it. »

Walters also said that other states should be following Oklahoma’s example and backing the deportation and border security effort by the Trump administration.

« This country is a law and order country. We cannot continue to allow criminal activity, we cannot continue to allow sanctuary schools, » he said. « Listen, you don’t get to…harbor any other criminals in a school system. We should not be allowing illegal immigrants to enroll in our schools, work in our schools, and not get that information for the president, for the entire country, » he said.

« Americans want to see an America First policy. They’ve got that in President Trump, » he added. « They will see that here in Oklahoma with our schools. We will put our students first. We will put American citizens first. And we will continue to work with President Trump and his team as they are doing a tremendous job in not only getting our schools back on track but getting our country back on track by bringing law and order back. »

  • I’m chronically ill. RFK Jr. could find solutions to actually make us better

During his confirmation hearings, senators understandably questioned Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s views on health, ranging from abortion to vaccinations.

It’s not surprising people would hesitate to accept some of Kennedy’s most unusual claims. Americans who have Red Dye No. 3 in their favorite breakfast cereal and McDonald’s Big Macs for dinner clearly have the most to lose. From fluoride in our water to beef tallow to vaccines, RFK Jr. is asking questions about our health no one else has bothered to ask.

RFK Jr. is willing to push against our unhealthy habits, something no one else has considered. Is that really a bad thing?

According to the latest CDC reports, an estimated 129 million Americans have at least one major chronic disease – including heart disease, cancer, diabetes, obesity and hypertension. Most are women, often with several diagnoses. Women also constitute over 80% of patients with autoimmune diseases, suffering from symptoms with severe consequences.

COULD RFK JR BE A DISRUPTOR AND REFORMER AT HHS?

We no longer live in a world where chronic illness describes obese, middle-aged men who refuse to give up red meat; in 2025, young women, otherwise healthy, are the very face of chronic illness. So many young women are sharing their journeys with debilitating illnesses online, that news outlets now dub them « sickfluencers. »

I am one of millions of young women under 30 years old with multiple health conditions.

Along with two first cousins – both under 30 – I have been diagnosed with a mysterious condition causing autonomic dysfunction, called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardic Syndrome (POTS). This is a condition affecting one to three million people in the U.S., up to 85% of whom are women.

Yet, doctors are puzzled by this condition and often tell patients to « just drink more. » Other medical professionals have chalked it up to anxiety. Still others shrug and say, « I don’t know what’s wrong with you. »

GOP OWES RFK JR. BIG TIME, AND THE DEBT IS DUE

There is no cure. Some geneticists have hypothesized these symptoms to be caused by a collection of disorders previously thought to be considerably rare, known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Others claim the HPV vaccine may be at play.

Many of these young women, ranging from 14 to 25, are objectively thriving; they are high achievers – honors students making A’s in school – are often athletic, and are, in the words of their doctors, the very « pinnacle of health. »

Then, one day, they suddenly wake up with terrifying symptoms: blurred vision, worryingly high heart rate and low blood pressure, uncontrolled vomiting and nausea, and fainting when they stand up.

POTS and EDS are not the only conditions young women are facing. These are just a few out of many. Abigail Anthony wrote several years ago in The Free Press about her journey with endometriosis and how doctors called her « hysterical. » Experiences like these are far from uncommon for these young women. In fact, these situations are often the norm.

WHAT RFK JR MUST DO TO WIN OVER SKEPTICAL SENATORS – AND AMERICANS

The majority of medical professionals have never heard of these conditions. They walk in blind, with no idea how to treat these illnesses – let alone provide a cure.

Patients like me are desperate for answers – any answers – for what is causing these life-altering symptoms; they have little to no guidance or information, few pharmaceutical options, and certainly no treatment plan shown effective to control the plethora of conditions leaving them house-bound, hospitalized, and unable to eat.

Pharmaceutical companies are known to distance themselves from developing new drugs, arguing that research into chronic illness isn’t profitable.

Where does that leave patients? With no answers, and no hope. Their lives are left destroyed – all before reaching 30.

If we truly care about treating the underlying cause of chronic illnesses and fighting against the health epidemic women face, the government must incentivize solutions that actually make us better instead of pushing us aside.

We deserve answers – and, at the very least, hope for better lives.

  • RFK Jr spent weekend talking to key senator who could make or break his confirmation

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. spent the weekend speaking with Sen. Bill Cassidy, R-La., who could effectively stop his confirmation process for secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) in its tracks.

The Louisiana senator’s office confirmed Sunday evening that the two men had been speaking that day.

Cassidy is a doctor and also one of the few remaining Republican senators who voted to convict President Donald Trump for allegedly inciting the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

SEN. TILLIS OPENS UP ABOUT ROLE IN PETE HEGSETH’S CONFIRMATION AFTER HEGSETH’S EX-SISTER-IN-LAW’S ALLEGATIONS

His vote on the 27-member Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday could decide whether Kennedy’s nomination to be Trump’s HHS secretary moves forward to the Senate floor or is left to potentially die in committee.

Cassidy has yet to indicate how he plans to vote on the nomination. During one of Kennedy’s hearings last week, he admitted, « I have been struggling with your nomination. »

He explained that there are areas of alignment between them, but that his criticism and claims regarding vaccination have given him pause.

« But if there is someone that is not vaccinated because of policies or attitudes you bring to the department and there is another 18-year-old who dies of a vaccine-preventable disease, helicoptered away, God forbid dies, it’ll be blown up in the press, » Cassidy said.

DEMS DISMISS CALLS FOR APOLOGY AFTER JEFFRIES VOWS ‘FIGHT’ AGAINST TRUMP AGENDA ‘IN THE STREETS’

« The greatest tragedy will be her death, but I can also tell you an associated tragedy that will cast a shadow over President Trump’s legacy, which I want to be the absolute best legacy it can be. »

He added that this was his « dilemma, » and foreshadowed their conversations, saying, « you may be hearing from me over the weekend. »

Representatives for Cassidy and Kennedy did not divulge specifics of their conversations.

Whether he was decided yet on how he will vote, Cassidy’s office declined to comment.

Kennedy has managed to get the support of other sometimes hesitant lawmakers, such as Sen. Todd Young, R-Ind., who said on X, « [Kennedy’s] unique leadership on healthy lifestyle choices will benefit countless Americans, and he understands the critical importance of rebuilding trust in our public health institutions. »

« I’ve also received assurances from him that strong pro-life policies will continue to be reinstituted at HHS under his leadership, » Young wrote. « We spoke extensively about the importance of supporting innovation in health care to both bring down costs and improve treatment. I look forward to working with him to make positive changes for the American people. »

ELIZABETH WARREN GRILLED RFK JR ON DRUG COMPANY MONEY, BUT RECEIVED OVER $5M FROM HEALTH INDUSTRY

Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., did not fully endorse Kennedy either but said he was pleased with his hearing and indicated the nominee was on the right track.

Kennedy will likely need the support of every Republican on the committee, assuming he does not receive any Democratic support. No committee Democrats have come out to say they will back him. The committee vote will take place Tuesday morning.

  • South Africa hits back at Trump’s claim that it is ‘confiscating land,’ as US aid to country threatened

JOHANNESBURG – President Donald Trump’s announcement that he plans to cut off all foreign aid to South Africa because he claimed it is « confiscating » land « and treating certain classes of people very badly » in « a massive human rights violation » has provoked strong reaction from the South African presidency and commentators.

« The South African government has not confiscated any land », South African President Cyril Ramaphosa responded in a statement, adding « We look forward to engaging with the Trump administration over our land reform policy and issues of bilateral interest. We are certain that out of those engagements, we will share a better and common understanding over these matters ».

Last week, Ramaphosa signed a bill into law permitting national, provincial and local authorities to expropriate land – to take it -« for a public purpose or in the public interest, » and, the government stated « subject to just and equitable compensation being paid ». However, sources say no expropriation has happened yet.

SOUTH AFRICAN PRESIDENT SIGNS CONTROVERSIAL LAND SEIZURE BILL, ERODING PRIVATE PROPERTY RIGHTS

On his Truth Social Media platform, President Trump hit out at South Africa, posting « It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention. A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see. The United States won’t stand for it, we will act. Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed! » Trump later repeated his comments while speaking to the press on Sunday night at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.

Pieter du Toit, assistant editor of South African media group News 24, posted on X « The U.S. President, clearly advised by Elon Musk, really has no idea what he’s talking about. »

South African-born Musk is trying to expand his Starlink internet service into South Africa, but President Ramaphosa has reportedly told him he must sell off 30% of his company here to local broad-based so-called Black empowerment interests.

In response to the South African president’s statement, Musk fired back on X, asking Ramaphosa, « Why do you have openly racist ownership laws? »

INCOMING TRUMP ADMIN, CONGRESS SHOWDOWN LOOMS WITH SOUTH AFRICA OVER SUPPORT FOR RUSSIA, US FOES

Analyst Frans Cronje told Fox News Digital that President Trump may be referring to the ongoing killing of farmers in South Africa when he posted that certain classes of people are being treated very badly.

« President Trump’s recent comments on land seizures in South Africa cannot be divorced from his past comments on violent attacks directed at the country’s farmers. Whilst these comments have often been dismissed as false, the latest South African data suggests that the country’s commercial farmers are six times more likely to be violently attacked in their homes than is the case for the general population. »

Cronje said there may be agendas in play behind President Trump’s statements.

« Such seizures may also apply to the property of American investors in South Africa. Cronje is an adviser at the U.S. Yorktown Foundation for Freedom. He added « with regards to land specifically, the legislation could enable the mass seizure of land which has been an oft expressed objective of senior political figures in the country. To date, however, there have been no mass seizures, in part because there was no legislative means through which to achieve such seizures. »

Now, with the bill having been signed into law, Cronje says that has changed.

« The comments around property rights in South Africa must be read against broader and bipartisan US concern at developments in South Africa. In 2024 the US/South Africa Bilateral Relations Review Act was introduced (in Congress) amid concerns that the South African government’s relationships with Iran, Russia, and China threatened US national security interests. »

Cronje, who also advises corporations and government departments on economic and political trajectory, continued. « Last week, South Africa’s government, together with that of Cuba, Belize and four other countries supported the formation of the ‘Hague Group’ in an apparent move to shore up the standing of the International Criminal Court, amid the passage through Congress of the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act that prescribes sanctions against any country that is seen to use the court to threaten US national security interests. South Africa has in recent years been prominent in employing both that court and the International Court of Justice in the Hague to press for action against Israel and Israeli leaders. »

South Africa’s Ramaphosa played down the importance of U.S. aid, stating « with the exception of PEPFAR (The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) Aid, which constitutes 17% of South Africa’s HIVAids program, there is no other significant funding that is provided by the United States in South Africa. » President George W. Bush introduced PEPFAR in 2003.

Analyst Justice Malala, also speaking on ENCA, said that, under the Trump administration, « the United States is going to upend South Africa in many ways. »

  • Elon Musk needs H-1B workers because math education fails our students

When entrepreneur Elon Musk made headlines with his vociferous comments supporting the H-1B visa program, the ensuing debate focused on the implications of his position on immigration.

But this debate obscured the reason America even has such a program in the first place: its homegrown students are being poorly educated in math.

According to federal law, the H-1B program gives visas to foreigners coming to perform services « in a specialty occupation. » A specialty occupation is defined as requiring « theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge, » plus higher education requirements.

US ‘REPORT CARD’ SHOWS STUDENTS HAVE FALLEN BEHIND IN READING, BARELY BUDGED IN MATH: ‘THE NEWS IS NOT GOOD’

The program is annually capped at 65,000 regular H-1B visas, with another 20,000 for those foreigners who have earned advanced degrees from U.S. universities.

Given Musk’s vehement support of the program, it is no surprise that a federal report states that in 2023, « computer-related occupations were the largest major occupational area, accounting for 65% of all beneficiaries [of the program]. » In comparison, less than 1% of H-1B visas were given to foreigners in the social sciences.

While much of the coverage of the H-1B debate focuses on the foreign-versus-American-worker angle, the real issue regarding H-1Bs is that the U.S. is failing to produce domestic workers with the requisite math skills required by Musk’s SpaceX and other high-tech companies.

In 2024, a shocking 72% of eighth-grade students taking the National Assessment of Educational Progress math exam failed to score at the proficient level — a full 6% increase over the 66% of eighth graders failing to achieve proficiency in 2019.

Why are American students doing so badly in math? The answer lies in the ineffective math instruction they are receiving.

In the early 2010s, most states adopted the Common Core national education standards, which were touted as a cure for America’s math woes. Unfortunately, Common Core turned out to be bad medicine.

Common Core confused many students by emphasizing indirect ways to arrive at the right answer instead of just learning straightforward mathematical operations.

For example, in multiplying numbers, children are often asked to draw pictures instead of simply memorizing the multiplication tables.

Michael Malione, a professional math tutor in California, said that his students were instructed by their public schools to draw and shade different areas of rectangles when multiplying fractions, rather than simply multiplying the numerators and multiplying the denominators to get the correct answer. Requiring students to learn math this way is both inefficient and ineffective.

« We’re going to draw a picture every time we’re given 10 problems with fractional multiplication, when you could do them in your head? » Malione asks. « That’s insane. »

Malione sees students « who are completely lost and they’re not getting the step-by-step guidance early on. »

Given Malione’s experience, it is unsurprising that a federally funded study found that Common Core had significant negative effects on the math achievement of eighth graders.

College math professors are shocked at students’ poor math skills.

One college math instructor in the Silicon Valley lamented that the lack of algebra knowledge is « the number one deficiency and its chronic. » He said, « we’re not producing the kinds of students and graduates that Silicon Valley needs. »

CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINION

Sugi Sorensen, a top engineer at famed Jet Propulsion Laboratory who also tutors students in math, urged a return to proven traditional math practices, which includes mastering the basic skills of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division through « the memorization of math facts and procedures » so that students « can perform computations quickly, accurately, and effortlessly. »

Further, math topics should be sequential, « where new concepts are built upon previously learned ones in a structured, hierarchical manner, » Sorensen said.

Finally, Sorensen recommends that math operations such as long division « should be explicitly taught and practiced until mastery, » with an emphasis on accuracy.

America has nearly 50 million K-12 students. If schools use proven math instructional methods instead of failed progressive techniques, there would be less need for H-1B visas because there would be more than enough young Americans with the skills companies need. The tech titans at Trump’s inauguration should lean on schools to do just that. It is time to make math great again.

  • US Olympic gold medalist Ryan Crouser grades his acting skills in upcoming Super Bowl commercial

Shot putter Ryan Crouser parlayed his record-setting third gold medal into an acting gig.

The USA Olympian became the first person to win three golds in the shot put this past summer in Paris, and now he is set to appear in a Super Bowl commercial next Sunday.

« For me as a track and field athlete, [I] never would’ve even thought that a Super Bowl commercial could be a possibility. It’s been great, » Crouser said in a recent interview with Fox News Digital.

« I mean, I don’t know how much of an acting career I would call it, because I’m kind of playing myself. But no, it was a really fun shoot, a lot of fun out flying out to L.A. Really just a dream come true, and I’m really excited about it. »

The Michelob Ultra commercial features Crouser, Randy Moss and Sabrina Ionescu playing pickleball. What makes the commercial great, though, is that Crouser wasn’t exactly doing a whole lot of acting while on the court.

« For me, being competitive, it made it pretty easy. The reason I’m good as a professional shot-putter is because I hate losing and [am] competitive by nature, » he said. « They had me lined up against a professional pickleball coach, player, and he was just bringing the heat on these serves. And I was trying to return them. It was a little bit of acting, but it was also pretty genuine.

« And I got a $60,000 camera in front of me, so they’re like, « Try to return it, but don’t hit the camera. »

Crouser has partnered with Michelob Ultra for some time now, which he calls a « genuine partnership. »

« They’ve been great. They do a lot to support Team USA, track and field. They’ve been so supportive of me through the Olympics. I don’t drink too much, especially in season, but when I’m out of season, it’s a beer that I tend to drink. What I’m doing 24 hours a day, I have to be accountable as a professional athlete. So a high-quality light beer is something that if I do drink, I can bounce back from the next day and have a quality training day. It’s a true genuine partnership, which always makes it so much easier, » Crouser said.

As for his camera skills, Crouser gave himself a pat on the back.

« I think I did pretty well, » he quipped.

« I’ve played pickleball. It’s a fun weekend activity. As a professional athlete, you have to find that balance between low risk but still fun activities. Nobody wants to be injured, like, skiing as a professional athlete, so pickleball’s a good happy medium. I can see why it’s so popular. »

  • Minnesota man accused of holding girlfriend against her will, beating her, dumping boiling water on her

A Minnesota man allegedly held his 19-year-old girlfriend against her will, beat her and burned her by repeatedly dumping boiling hot water on her over the course of several days.

Jabari Junior, 22, of St. Paul, is facing two counts of felony kidnapping as well as first- and second-degree assault, according to Fox 9. He is being held in Ramsey County Jail.

Junior made his first court appearance on Friday, and he has been ordered not to contact the victim.

Police began investigating the kidnapping on Wednesday when the victim was brought to the hospital after she was found by Metro Transit officers at a bus shelter in the area of Wabasha Street South and Fillmore Avenue East in St. Paul, Fox 9 reported. The bus stop is near Junior’s apartment along Wabasha Street.

MISSING DOMINO’S PIZZA DELIVERY DRIVER’S CAR FOUND IN WISCONSIN: POLICE

The woman was treated at the hospital’s burn unit with « severe, oozing burns to her face, arms, and torso, » police said.

She also had a stab wound to her left shin, had a swollen face and was unable to open her right eye and was unable to wear a hospital gown because « it stuck to her open wounds, causing her pain when she moved, » police said.

The victim later told police that Junior and another man had kidnapped her from Chicago in November and forced her to have sex for money with many men.

Police said she had a difficult time remembering everything but said Junior was her boyfriend and that he had repeatedly beat her and burned her with boiling water from Jan. 27 to Jan. 29.

She said she planned to stay overnight at Junior’s apartment on Jan. 27, but he became violent after growing jealous.

On Jan. 27, Junior became violent when the pair began arguing about the victim allegedly talking to other men, according to a criminal complaint, Fox 9 reported.

Junior grabbed a hair clipper, held the victim against the bed and forcibly shaved her head while threatening to make her look like a man if she continued to talk to other men.

He allegedly dumped boiling water from a two-handed black pot onto the victim. He also choked her while holding a butcher’s knife.  When she fought back, as she was struggling to breathe and attempted to grab the knife, Junior stabbed her leg.

At one point, the victim attempted to escape the apartment, but Junior was able to stop her. Later that night, Junior took her to the Wabasha Bridge over the Mississippi River and encouraged her to jump before they eventually returned to the apartment.

The next day, the victim planned to leave for Chicago, but Junior ripped up her bus ticket and refused to allow her to leave.

Junior went through cycles of « hot and cold » behavior in which he brutally attacked her in one moment before treating her well and caring for her wounds in the next, the victim said.

When the victim attempted to leave again, Junior poured another pot of boiling water on her.

On Jan. 29, the victim reported waking up to Junior throwing boiling water on her from a sauce pan. The victim said he dumped boiling water on her three to four times over the few days.

She could not see from her right eye due to her extensive injuries.

The woman said Junior took her to the bus stop near Wabasha and Fillmore, called 911 and allowed her to talk to the dispatcher. Junior told the victim to lie about what happened to her before running back to his apartment when he heard sirens.

The victim also said Junior cleaned his apartment to dispose of evidence.

She said she feared for her life if he was not arrested.

Police obtained a search warrant for Junior’s apartment after speaking to the victim.

CHRISTIAN COLLEGES SUE AFTER BEING SNUBBED FROM MINNESOTA’S DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM

The apartment appeared clean, but police still found fresh hair clippings, pots matching what the victim had described as what Junior used to dump boiling water on her and gray sweatpants with dark red spots on the upper right thigh area.

Junior claimed when he was interviewed by police that the woman was a victim of sex trafficking and had been attacked by another man she had intercourse with.

He admitted to dumping water on her but claimed it was an accident while he was cooking. He initially denied any knowledge of the stabbing before eventually saying he accidentally stabbed the victim.

Junior also denied cutting the victim’s hair but admitted to cutting her hair a little bit when questioned about the clippings found in his apartment.

The Dallas Mavericks were far from energized in their first game since the team traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and acquired Anthony Davis.

« Everyone was just locked in even with the trade and everything that was going on today, » Cavs star Evan Mobley said after the game. « We started hot and kept our foot on the gas. »

Sam Merrill added nine 3-pointers for Cleveland. The Cavaliers made 16 3-pointers in the first half and finished with 26 in total.

« We were at 80 (points) with like four minutes left, and I was like, ‘Man, let’s try to get 100,’ » Merrill said. « But these games aren’t always easy. I’ve been a part of games where everyone is out, and it’s a close game because it’s hard to have the right mindset in a game like this.

« It’s such a credit to the starters to come out and play the right way and communicate and defend and share the basketball. To get out to that big lead and then the bench guys come in and keep it going. I’ve been a part of some 80s but 90 (at halftime) is crazy. »

It was the closing of a wild day for the Mavericks. Dallas woke up, and its five-time All-Star was abruptly traded to the Lakers.

Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison defended the deal before the game.

« I understand why [fans] would be shocked, initially, » Harrison told the Dallas Morning News.

« But I do believe that we positioned ourselves to win now and also win in the future. And that’s ultimately the goal and why we’re here. It’s one of those things where it’s my job to make the tough decisions that put our goals first and foremost. »

Doncic’s $207 million extension is set to expire this year, and he was due for a supermax that was worth over $340 million. Plus, he was soon able to opt out of any other deals. So, Harrison wanted security. Now, he’s not eligible for the supermax anymore.

« We really feel like we got ahead of what was going to be a tumultuous summer, him being eligible for the supermax and also a year away from him being able to opt out of any contract, » Harrison said. « And so we really felt like we got out in front of that. We know teams, they’ve had it out there, teams have been loading up to try to sign him once that comes available. »

Doncic thanked fans for their support while he was with Dallas. He did not mention the Mavericks in his goodbye message.

  • Trump defends tariffs, accuses Canada of being ‘very abusive of the United States’: video

President Donald Trump defended his recent tariffs against Canada, Mexico and China while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews on Sunday night – and hinted that the European Union may suffer a similar fate.

The tariffs, which were authorized in an executive order on Saturday, will go into effect Tuesday. Under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), a 25% additional tariff will be levied on imports from Canada and Mexico, and a 10% tariff on imports from China.

In the executive order, Trump said that the tariffs stem from an « extraordinary threat posed by illegal aliens and drugs, including deadly fentanyl, [that] constitutes a national emergency. »

The tariffs have invited international criticism from leaders and citizens alike in Canada and Mexico. During his exchange with reporters on Sunday evening, Trump accused Canada of being « abusive » toward the U.S. in terms of trade.

TRUMP IMPOSES TARIFFS ON IMPORTS FROM CANADA, MEXICO AND CHINA: ‘NATIONAL EMERGENCY’

« Canada has been very abusive of the United States for many years. They don’t allow our banks, » Trump claimed. « And you know that Canada does not allow banks to go in, if you think about it. That’s pretty amazing. If we have a U.S. bank, they don’t allow them to go in. »

« Canada has been very tough for oil on energy. They don’t allow our farm products in, essentially. They don’t allow a lot of things in. And we allow everything to come in as being a one-way street. »

Trump also claimed that the U.S. subsidizes Canada « by the tune of about $200 billion a year. »

« And for what? What do we get out of it? We don’t get anything out of it, » he added. « I love the people of Canada. I disagree with the leadership of Canada and something is going to happen there. »

The Republican leader also said that he will « definitely » impose tariffs against the European Union, which he said the U.S. has a $300 billion trade deficit with.

« They don’t take our cars, they don’t take our farm products, they take almost nothing, » Trump said. « And we take everything from them. Millions of cars, tremendous amounts of food and farm products. So the UK is way out of line and we’ll see the UK, but the European Union is really out of line. »

In a statement on Saturday, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said that her country « categorically reject[s] the White House’s slander against the Mexican government of having alliances with criminal organizations, as well as any intention of intervention in our territory. »

RNC CHAIR, AFTER CRUISING TO RE-ELECTION, VOWS TO BE ‘TIP OF SPEAR’ TO PROTECT TRUMP

« Mexico not only does not want fentanyl to reach the United States, but anywhere, » the statement read. « Therefore, if the United States wants to combat criminal groups that traffic drugs and generate violence, we must work together in an integrated manner, but always under the principles of shared responsibility, mutual trust, collaboration and, above all, respect for sovereignty, which is not negotiable. »

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau slighted the U.S. by encouraging Canadians to « buy Canada » in response to the tariffs.

« Now is the time to choose products made right here in Canada, » Trudeau wrote on X. « Check the labels. Let’s do our part. Wherever we can, choose Canada. »

During Sunday’s exchange with reporters, Trump also discussed the prospect of cutting off aid to South Africa after its president signed a controversial land seizure measure.

« Terrible things are happening in South Africa, » Trump said. « The leadership is doing some terrible things, horrible things. So that’s under investigation right now. »

His remarks came after he accused South Africa of « treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY » in a Truth Social post on Sunday.

« It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention, » Trump’s statement read. « A massive Human Rights VIOLATION, at a minimum, is happening for all to see. The United States won’t stand for it, we will act. Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed! »
