  • ‘Real Housewives’ star Luann de Lesseps says no salads after 6pm keeps her fit at 59

« Real Housewives of New York City » star Luann de Lesseps shared her surprising secrets for staying fit at 59.

During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, the TV personality and cabaret performer, who recently launched her new Countess Cabaret Tour, revealed her top three tips for maintaining a svelte physique.

« You should not drink while you eat, » de Lesseps said, citing health and wellness advice she received during stays at Austrian spas.

‘REAL HOUSEWIVES’ STAR LUANN DE LESSEPS EXPLAINS WHY SHE STARTED DRINKING AGAIN AFTER TOUTING SOBRIETY

« People are drinking cold drinks while they eat. And what happens is digestion starts in the mouth. That’s why we salivate because, like when we’re hungry, you think — the burn — the digestive juices are already going. So, the most important thing is to chew a lot while you eat. Pay attention to that. And don’t drink while you’re eating.

« Europeans are thinner because they sip wine, » de Lesseps added. « They don’t drink big, cold drinks. That’s not their thing. And this is a very key thing in order to stay in good shape. Drink water 20 minutes before you eat or drink — whatever you want to drink. But 20 minutes before you eat and 20 minutes after. So, not while [eating] because it waters down your digestive enzymes and juices that metabolize your food. »

De Lesseps also advised people to practice portion control to avoid overeating and incorporate intermittent fasting into their diet regimens.

WATCH: LUANN DE LESSEPS SHARES HER THREE ‘BIG TIPS’ FOR STAYING FIT

« In America, we eat a lot. We get big portions. So, it’s about portion control as well, » she explained. « And eating slowly. And when you eat slowly, you don’t eat as much because it takes time for your brain to register that you have actually kind of had enough.

« So, it’s taking time to eat and taking your time and eating slowly and chewing well, » de Lesseps added. « And, this way, you feel satiated. And a lot of people just skip over that point and just eat everything.

« And, you know, listen, I’m guilty of the same thing sometimes, » she added. « But that’s how I stay fit. »

The TV personality told Fox News Digital she is an advocate for intermittent fasting, an increasingly popular diet method of time-restricted eating.

« I love fasting, » de Lesseps said. « Intermittent fasting, which is you eat late in the morning and you try not to eat [after] 6 p.m. because digestion will wake you up during the middle of the night. Like, if you have a steak at night, you’re bound to wake up in the middle of the night because digestion needs energy, so it wakes you up. »

De Lesseps also advises against eating a dish commonly labeled as healthy after a certain time.

« Another tip I got for you — [eat] protein and salad for lunch, something like that, because salad you should not eat after really 6 p.m, » she said.

« People think they’re eating — like they’re having a salad at night with their protein and all that, dressing, with parmesan cheese and croutons — and they’re like, ‘This is light.’ Well, the problem with salad is it’s 99% water. So, what is that doing? It’s watering down your digestion, just like if you had a drink.

‘REAL HOUSEWIVES’ STAR KYLE RICHARDS SAYS PHYSICAL CHANGES AFTER GIVING UP ALCOHOL ARE ‘INCENTIVE’ TO BE SOBER

« People are washing it down with drinks as well, so digestion’s out, » she added. « So, salad is a no-no after 6. Instead of that, cooked vegetables. Cooked vegetables have much more to give you than a salad ever will. Not to say that dark greens aren’t good for you. Arugula, spinach, iron filled with vitamins, but during the day. Or you make sautéed spinach at night, and you don’t have salad. »

The Connecticut native explained that staying active is another step that people should take to reach their health goals.

« I’m a jock, » she said. « I love sports. So, I’m very active. I think being very active is one of the best things that you can do in order to stay fit.

« It can be water aerobics. It can be just a walk to get your metabolism going in the morning or SoulCycle, if you really want to kill it. I’m not a big SoulCycle person, but sometimes I do SoulCycle. But I just feel like you have to be physically active.

« So, those are big tips, » she added. « It’s really about digesting, the way you eat and just keep it moving. »

De Lesseps, who is an original cast member of « The Real Housewives of New York City » and appeared in 13 seasons of the hit Bravo series, made her cabaret debut in 2017 with her show « #CountessAndFriends. » De Lesseps became a countess after she married French Count Alexandre de Lesseps in 1993.

The two divorced in 2009, and de Lesseps officially lost the title when she married Tom D’Agostino Jr. in 2016.

De Lesseps’ cabaret show, which aired during the Season 10 finale of « RHONYC » and featured appearances by her « RHONYC » co-star Sonja Morgan and actress Rachel Dratch, became a hit with fans.

After the success of her debut performance, de Lesseps launched her nationwide « #CountessAndFriends » tour. Last fall, she embarked on her « F Marry Kill » tour, which was directed by acclaimed Broadway director and producer Richard Jay-Alexander.

In December, de Lesseps returned to the road for her « A Very Countess Christmas » tour. The reality star is now headlining her international Countess Cabaret tour, which kicked off Saturday at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe in Stateline, Nevada. For her latest tour, de Lesseps teamed up again with Jay-Alexander, who previously directed shows for Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler and Kristin Chenoweth.

During all of her performances, de Lesseps wears ensembles pulled from the showroom of the fashion brand Jovani. De Lesseps and Jovani have a longtime partnership, and the prom dress retailer is a favorite with many of the other « Real Housewives. »

In 2019, de Lesseps released her original song, « Feelin’ Jovani, » along with an accompanying music video starring herself, « Real Housewives of Atlanta‘s » Cynthia Bailey and « Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ » Lisa Rinna. « The Real Housewives » executive producer and « Watch What Happens Live » host Andy Cohen also made a cameo appearance.

« Feelin’ Jovani » was de Lesseps’ fourth single after 2010’s « Money Can’t Buy You Class, » 2011’s « Chic C’est la Vie » and 2015’s « Girl Code. » In 2020, de Lesseps released her fifth song, « Viva La Diva, » which she co-produced with Grammy-winning songwriter and producer Desmond Child.

During her interview with Fox News Digital, de Lesseps shared that her cabaret tour shows will feature performances of all her original songs along with covers of hits by famous artists, including Tina Turner and Stevie Nicks.

« What I enjoy most is the shock on people’s faces because they don’t know my cabaret show from watching the ‘Housewives’ because it’s always about the drama, because of music rights. « I love the freedom I have with cabaret because I can do anything I want, say anything I want, sing anything I want. »

De Lesseps told Fox News Digital her songs were inspired by the friendships and feuds that she has had with her « Real Housewives » co-stars.

« Regardless of what those women have done to me over the years, cabaret? Life is not a cabaret. Well, it is for me because cabaret is my story that I write, » she said. « You know, it’s like life. You write your story. Nobody’s going to write your story for you. This is my story, right? « All my music stems a lot from the ladies, from my experience on the show, » she added. « And then when people come to my show, they’re in for a real treat. »

De Lesseps will also soon be seen again on the small screen. She is starring in the « Real Housewives » dating show spinoff series, « Love Hotel, » which will air on Peacock. • Eagles speak out on Philadelphia plane crash just days before playing in Super Bowl LIX

The Philadelphia Eagles will have plenty more to play for when they take the field in Super Bowl LIX next Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.

After an air ambulance carrying six people crashed in Northern Philadelphia Friday night, causing a massive explosion that has killed an unconfirmed number of people, the Eagles released a statement expressing condolences for its impacted Philadelphia residents and the victims on board the flight.

« The Eagles organization was heartbroken to learn of the tragic loss of life earlier this evening as a result of the plane crash in Northeast Philadelphia, » the team said. « We extend our condolences to the victims and loved ones they leave behind. We are grateful to the first responders for their heroic actions at the scene. »

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance, the global ambulance flight company operating the plane, said its Learjet 55 crashed while departing from Northeast Philadelphia Airport at about 6:30 p.m.

The plane was scheduled to fly from Philadelphia to Tijuana International Airport, with one technical stop in Springfield, Missouri for fuel, Air Ambulance spokesperson Shai Gold told Fox News Digital.

A senior Philadelphia fire official told Fox News the fires that were sparked by the crash are « now under control. »

President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to react to the tragedy.

« So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. More innocent souls lost. Our people are totally engaged, » Trump wrote. « First Responders are already being given credit for doing a great job. More to follow. God Bless you all. »

Vice President JD Vance later took to X, calling the situation « very sad. »

« May God bless the victims and their families, » Vance wrote.

The crash comes just days after an American Airlines passenger plane collided midair with an Army Black Hawk Helicopter near Reagan National Airport, killing 67 people.

  • Pistons player misses own bobblehead night due to suspension for flagrant fouls

Detroit Pistons fans were treated to a bobblehead giveaway of big man Isaiah Stewart Friday night.

But they were unable to see Stewart in action because he wasn’t allowed to play.

Stewart was suspended for flagrant fouls assessed throughout the season.

The NBA announced Friday that Stewart would be suspended for the night’s contest after he picked up a sixth flagrant foul point this season.

Stewart picked up a flagrant foul, which prompted an automatic ejection Wednesday after he checked an opponent, Thomas Bryant, when a shot went up.

Bryant had to be held back by his teammates, and Stewart almost immediately walked off the court.

The league announced the suspension, along with a $50,000 fine for Stewart for making « inappropriate and objectionable gestures » after his ejection Wednesday in the Pistons’ 133-119 loss to the Pacers in Indiana.

The gestures were likely the apparent finger guns he pointed at the Pistons bench.

The Pistons and Pacers have history with the Malice at the Palace in 2004.

Stewart entered the game with four flagrant foul points, so the call triggered the automatic suspension based on the league’s regular-season protocols.

Despite the suspension, the Pistons still gave out Stewart bobbleheads to 5,000 fans.

The Pistons have been a pleasant surprise this season. Their 23-24 record is good for eighth place in the Eastern Conference, which would put them in the play-in tournament.

Last year, the Pistons lost an NBA record 27 consecutive games, which resulted in the firing of Monty Williams despite him inking the richest deal in coaching history at the time.

  • Supreme Court to consider an effort to establish the nation’s first publicly funded religious charter school

The Supreme Court will weigh an effort to establish the nation’s first religious charter school with implications for school choice and religious practices.

The court agreed Friday to hear two cases on the matter, which will be argued together — Oklahoma Statewide Charter School Board v. Drummond and St. Isidore of Seville Catholic Virtual School v. Drummond.

In 2023, the Statewide Virtual Charter School Board voted to approve an application by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Oklahoma City and the Diocese of Tulsa for a K-12 online school, the St. Isidore of Seville Virtual Charter School.

SUPREME COURT TO DECIDE IF FAMILIES CAN OPT OUT OF READING LGBTQ BOOKS IN THE CLASSROOM

Oklahoma parents, faith leaders and an education group sought to block the school after the approval.

In a 7-1 decision, the Oklahoma Supreme Court found a taxpayer-funded religious charter school would violate the First Amendment’s provision on « establishment of religion » and the state constitution.

« Under Oklahoma law, a charter school is a public school, » Justice James Winchester wrote in the court’s majority opinion. « As such, a charter school must be nonsectarian.

« However, St. Isidore will evangelize the Catholic school curriculum while sponsored by the state. »

Alliance Defending Freedom Chief Counsel Jim Campbell told Fox News Digital the case « is fundamentally about religious discrimination and school choice. »

SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS LOOMING TIKTOK BAN

« The Supreme Court has been clear in three cases over the last eight years that you can’t create a public program like that and then exclude religious organizations, » Campbell said. « So, we’re going to be arguing before the court that the state of Oklahoma should be allowed to open up the program to religious organizations. »

Campbell says the decision would give parents, families and the state « more educational options. »

Oklahoma Republican Attorney General Gentner Drummond, who originally challenged the school’s approval, has previously said the school’s establishment is unconstitutional. His spokesperson told Fox News Digital in a statement the attorney general « looks forward to presenting our arguments before the high court. »

« I will continue to vigorously defend the religious liberty of all 4 million Oklahomans, » Drummond said in a statement released in October. « This unconstitutional scheme to create the nation’s first state-sponsored religious charter school will open the floodgates and force taxpayers to fund all manner of religious indoctrination, including radical Islam or even the Church of Satan. My fellow Oklahomans can rest assured that I will always fight to protect their God-given rights and uphold the law. »

TENNESSEE AG OPTIMISTIC ABOUT SCOTUS CASE AFTER ‘RADICAL GENDER IDEOLOGY’ REVERSAL IN LOWER COURT

The Oklahoma case is one of several religious institution cases that have been filed in the Supreme Court.

In 2017, the high court ruled in favor of a Missouri church that sued the state after being denied taxpayer funds for a playground project as a result of a provision that prohibits state funding for religious entities.

Likewise, in 2020, the Supreme Court struck down a ban on taxpayer funding for religious schools in a 5-4 decision that backed a Montana tax-credit scholarship program. Most recently, in 2022, the Supreme Court ruled that a Maine tuition assistance program violated the First Amendment’s Free Exercise Clause for excluding religious schools from eligibility.

Campbell said given the court’s previous considerations of cases involving religious educational institutions, he is « hopeful that the Supreme Court will recognize that the same principle applies here. »

« You can’t create a charter school program that allows private organizations to participate but tell the religious groups that they can’t be included, » Campbell said. « So, we’re hopeful that the Supreme Court will make it clear that people of faith deserve to be a part of the charter school program as well. »

Justice Amy Coney Barrett recused herself from the case, although an explanation was not given. The Supreme Court is expected to hear oral arguments in April.

School choice has become a hot-button issue, particularly after the 2024 election cycle. President Donald Trump recently signed two executive orders on education, one to remove federal funding from K-12 schools that teach critical race theory and another to support school choice.

Fox News Digital’s Ronn Blitzer and the Associated Press contributed to this report.

  • Delphi murders: Convicted killer in hiking trail slayings cites new evidence in bid to overturn conviction

    WARNING: GRAPHIC

Richard Allen, the Indiana man recently found guilty of brutally murdering two teen girls on a hiking trail in 2017, is asking a Carroll County court to overturn his conviction, according to court documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Allen’s attorneys recently filed a motion asking a Carroll County Circuit Court judge to either vacate his murder convictions or schedule a hearing to discuss four specific issues that they say could prove Allen innocent in the murders of 14-year-old Liberty German and 13-year-old Abigail Williams.

« It’s natural for a convicted murderer to want his murder conviction overturned, » Áine Cain, co-host of the « Murder Sheet » podcast, which has been covering the Delphi murders for five years, told Fox News Digital. « It’s the job of the defense attorneys and his ability to try to help them accomplish that. … And his appellate team will probably be looking at things more from a legal perspective or his rights violated at any point — was the trial run properly, things like that. »

Cain and co-host Kevin Greenlee, an attorney, attended Allen’s trial and described the prosecution’s performance as « solid. »

DELPHI MURDERS SUSPECT’S CONFESSIONS TO WIFE, MOTHER SOUNDED ‘CALM,’ EXPERT SAYS: ‘NOT WHAT I EXPECTED’

He was sentenced to serve 130 years in prison after a four-week-long trial. Prosecutors said Allen lured the girls, who were hiking together on Feb. 13, 2017, away from the High Monon Trail and into a secluded wooded area where he slit their necks and then covered their bodies with twigs and leaves.

« After the trial, I believe we felt … while there were issues with this investigation and while certainly the misplacement of the tip around Richard Allen was unfortunate, we felt that the investigative team and the prosecutors did a good job proving their case in court based on the evidence and that they successfully convicted the man who murdered Liberty German and Abigail Williams, » Cain said.

DELPHI MURDERS SUSPECT CONFESSED TO KILLING 2 GIRLS ON HIKING TRAIL IN SMALL TOWN, PRISON DOC SAYS

Still, Allen’s attorneys are pointing to four pieces of evidence they say should allow Allen to get his convictions overturned.

During his trial, prosecutors heard from a prison psychologist who testified that Allen, now 52, admitted wanting to sexually assault the girls but was spooked when a van apparently drove by the wooded area of the High Monon Trail in Delphi where he lured and attacked them.

The van’s driver testified during Allen’s trial that he drove by the crime scene around 2:30 p.m. that day — just two minutes before prosecutors said German’s phone turned off at 2:32 p.m. — and arrived at his parents’ home at 2:44 p.m., according to the court documents.

Prosecutors argued that seeing the white van was a detail « only the killer would know » during Allen’s trial.

Allen’s attorneys are now disputing testimony from the van driver, saying « his arrival at ‘about 2:30’ could not have been a detail only the killer would know, because it did not happen. »

SIGN UP TO GET THE TRUE CRIME NEWSLETTER

They wrote in their motion that surveillance footage showing what appears to be a white van matching a description of that man’s white van was spotted driving along an access road at 2:44 p.m. that day. They argue the footage shows the van driver could not have passed by the crime scene at 2:30 p.m. and would have arrived at his parents’ home later than 2:44, thus throwing off the prosecution’s timeline.

FBI evidence further shows that van driver’s phone at his parents’ home at 2:50 p.m., Allen’s attorney said.

The convicted killer’s defense is also highlighting an alleged confession from a now-deceased man named Ron Logan, who apparently admitted to killing German and Williams to another inmate in prison sometime before May 15, 2017.

DELPHI MURDERS TRIAL: ‘BRIDGE GUY’ EMERGES AS NEW CRIME SCENE EVIDENCE PRESENTED

His attorneys said the confession is « newly discovered evidence. »

An investigator’s handwritten notes detailing the other inmate’s retelling of Logan’s confession are included in the recent motion. Logan allegedly told the other inmate that he lured the two victims to a wooded area of the trail and killed them with a boxcutter — a weapon forensic pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr testified during Allen’s trial that the killer may have used, according to FOX 59.

The FBI searched Logan’s home not far from the High Monon Trail on May 17, 2017, according to FOX 59.

« Ron Logan’s confession exculpates Mr. Allen and would probably produce a different result at a retrial, » Allen’s attorneys wrote in their motion. « Accordingly, the Court should either vacate Mr. Allen’s convictions or set this motion for a hearing. »

    Logan died in 2022.

Allen’s attorneys further argue that the then-suspect was « whisked away » from Carroll County Jail to an Indiana Department of Corrections facility in 2022 without a proper safekeeping proceeding — the legal process for moving an inmate from one detention center to another.

DELPHI MURDERS TRIAL: SUSPECT RICHARD ALLEN’S ATTORNEYS MAKE STUNNING REVELATION ABOUT HAIR AT CRIME SCENE

« This should be particularly disturbing because, had he been given the opportunity to do so, Mr. Allen had an absolute personal right to refuse the transfer to the Department’s custody, » his attorneys wrote in the Monday motion.

They further say Allen « had no opportunity to exercise his right to refuse the transfer to the Indiana Department of Corrections’ custody or to make any of the objections set out above to the entire course of the proceeding » because he and his counsel « had no notice of the legal skullduggery that would land him in solitary confinement » for 23 months before his trial.

Near the conclusion of Allen’s trial, the defense presented testimony from a former FBI forensic expert who said it appeared as though someone plugged headphones into German’s phone, which was discovered near the girls’ bodies on Feb. 14, at 5:45 p.m on Feb. 13, hours after they were last seen.

The headphones were then removed from the phone at 10:32, Stacey Eldridge testified, presenting a possible challenge to the prosecution’s timeline that they were killed around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 13, according to FOX 59.

An expert presented by the state testified at trial that the headphone evidence may have been the result of water or dirt getting into the headphone jack, and Allen’s attorneys say they never got a chance to dispute that testimony in court.

FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X

« If Ms. Eldridge’s actual expert opinion that wired headphones were plugged into L.G.’s auxiliary port at 5:44 p.m. on February 13, 2017, and unplugged almost 5 hours later were credited by a jury, the State’s narrative is impossible, » the motion states. « Someone other than Richard Allen was handling L.G.’s phone multiple times long after the State contended Mr. Allen left the scene before 4:00 p.m. on February 13, 2017. »

Prosecutors pointed to various evidence that placed Allen at the scene at the time of the crime, including an unspent bullet at the crime scene matching a firearm recovered from Allen’s home in 2022, as well as the dozens of confessions he made in prison, as FOX 59 Indianapolis reported at the time.

Allen’s defense leaned largely on expert analysis showing Allen’s unhealthy mental state after his 2022 arrest, which took the Delphi community as a surprise at the time. Allen had been a longtime CVS employee in the small Indiana town when police took him into custody five years after the murders.

GET REAL TIME UPDATES DIRECTLY ON THE TRUE-CRIME HUB

For the first time since the girls were reported missing, jurors got to watch 43 seconds of the crucial video in court on Oct. 22. The video shows German and Williams walking with an unknown man wearing a hat and blue utility jacket who has become known over the last five years as « Bridge Guy. » German captured the video at 2:13 p.m., less than 25 minutes after she and Williams’ family members dropped them off at the trail.

« Guys, down the hill, » the man can be heard saying to the girls in the video.

Cain, who has a book about the Delphi murders called « Shadow of the Bridge » set to be published in August, and Greenlee believe Allen’s confessions played in court were believable.

« I think it is worth noting that his voice as he spoke to them, it sounded identical to the voice on the recording of ‘Bridge Guy’ saying ‘down the hill,’ » Cain said. « I’m not sure you could do a scientifically valid test, but the reactions of everyone in that courtroom, or almost everyone in the courtroom, were: This is the same man.’ »

Allen’s attorneys did not immediately respond to inquiries from Fox News Digital.

  • Two players ejected after shoving fiasco, LSU’s Kim Mulkey slaps clipboard in chippy college basketball game

Tempers flared during Thursday’s highly anticipated Top-25 women’s college basketball matchup between the one-loss LSU Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners.

The game featured players shoving — which led to ejections — coach’s technical fouls and a noticeable clipboard-slapping moment from LSU coach Kim Mulkey. LSU forward Sa’Myah Smith and Oklahoma forward Liz Scott were both tossed from the game after the shoving incident in the first quarter.

Oklahoma center Beatrice Culliton was battling for position in the paint with Smith when the two got tangled up. Culliton elevated her arm to create some separation, and Smith retaliated by pushing her to the ground. Scott, who was also in the paint area, responded by shoving Smith.

Smith was corralled by Joe Schwartz, LSU’s assistant of basketball operations. The teams separated and went back to their bench areas. The normally even-keeled Smith was called for a foul on the play and then ejected following a review.

« Pushing, I guess, is considered fighting, » Mulkey said. « It (Smith’s reaction) was shocking. It hurt our team with her not being a part of tonight, because we’re trying to develop her. My old mentor (former Louisiana Tech coach), Leon Barmore, always said you’ve got to keep a cool head in a hot game. . . . Never let ’em see you sweat. »

Mulkey also gave a nod to the game’s entertainment value: « I guess it was entertaining for the fans. »

Play resumed after the ejections, with Oklahoma leading 12-11. The Sooners took advantage of the 6-foot-2 Smith’s advantage to keep it close, rallying from a 24-point deficit late in the third quarter to get within one point in the final minute.

In the third quarter, Mulkey slapped a clipboard that assistant coach Seimone Augustus was holding. LSU was enjoying a 67-45 lead at the time. Mulkey proceeded to yell and point for several seconds, while Augustus appeared to contend with a brief moment of shock.

Referees later assessed a technical foul after the Tigers’ coach argued a foul call against star guard Flau’Jae Johnson. Oklahoma coach Jennie Baranczyk also received a technical at a different point in the game.

The chippy game ended with a total of five technical fouls and 63 free throw attempts.

« We saw a lot of things tonight, » Mulkey said. « You saw ejections. You saw two teams score over 100. You saw a technical on the second flop. . . . I got teed up, and she told me I got teed up for pointing at the big screen. I was definitely looking at the big screen, and I was not real happy, but I don’t know if I point. But she’s across the way. Whatever. »

The Tigers’ 107-100 win over the Sooners improved seventh-ranked LSU’s record to 22-1.

  • Late-night CBP helicopter ride-along shows advanced tech used to apprehend migrants

Fox News took an exclusive late-night helicopter ride over the El Paso, Texas, sector, offering a glimpse into U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operations to capture migrants trying to evade, and the challenges agents face each night.

Our team got a first-hand look at the advanced technology that CBP uses to detect migrants and smugglers.

Agents with the agency’s Air and Marine Operations wore nighttime vision goggles as we flew above one of the busiest areas for migrant traffic.

« All right, those two are crawling away, » one of the agents said.

BILLION-DOLLAR MEXICAN CARTEL OPS DISRUPTED BY TRUMP’S BORDER CRACKDOWN AS US ISSUES DO-NOT-TRAVEL WARNING

The helicopter was equipped with a high-tech camera designed for nighttime surveillance. The agents monitored a live feed, enhanced by a mapping software, allowing them to pinpoint the exact locations of the migrants.

We watched as some migrants cut holes in the border wall and squeezed through, while others hid behind brush, rolling on the desert to slip past authorities. Little did they know, we were with agents five miles away and still able to track their every move from the skies and in the pitch black.

Agents also used lasers, which are invisible to the naked eye. The lasers can lock onto targets, giving precise coordinates.

The Air and Marine agents stayed in constant communication with Border Patrol agents on the ground and were able to guide them to the locations.

US CONSULATE WARNS OF GUN BATTLES, IEDS, KIDNAPPINGS IN MEXICAN BORDER TOWNS NEAR TEXAS

Our camera crew on the ground captured several of the apprehensions, including that of a 19-year-old from Mexico and a man from Guatemala.

Not only are encounters down in the El Paso Sector, but agents tell Fox News the number of « gotaways, » which are migrants who evade capture, has also decreased. On Wednesday, Border Patrol agents said they had zero gotaways, which was the first time in a few years.

Agents also pointed out the new presence of Border Patrol and National Guard vehicles stationed in hot spots. Prior to the Trump administration, Border Patrol agents were stretched so thin that they said they didn’t have the manpower to have a strong presence in these critical areas.

  • Young figure skating sisters from Virginia among victims killed in DC plane crash

Alydia and Everly Livingston, who were known as the « Ice Skating Sisters, » were identified as victims of the deadly plane crash in Washington, D.C., that claimed the lives of 67 people when an American Airlines plane collided with an Army helicopter Wednesday night.

Eleven-year-old Alydia and 14-year-old Everly, were killed in the crash along with their parents, Peter and Donna Livingston.

The girls were members of the Washington Figure Skating Club in D.C., which is affiliated with U.S. Figure Skating.

The club released a joint statement with the Skating Club of Northern Virginia after several of the victims were linked to the clubs.

« This heartbreaking accident has shaken the local skating community in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia — as well as in Boston and across the nation. Our hearts go out to families, friends, and loved ones mourning this unimaginable grief.

WIFE OF DELAWARE SKATING COACH KILLED IN DC PLANE CRASH LEFT DEVASTATED BY TRAGEDY: ‘I LOST EVERYTHING’

« As we continue to process this tragedy, we honor the memories of those who we have lost — their passion for the sport, the friendships they cultivated, and the joy they brought to the ice. Their presence at our rinks and in our community is deeply felt, and their absence is indescribable. »

In a tribute posted to The Skating Lesson Facebook page, Alydia was described as having a « vivacious personality » and a true passion for the sport. Her older sister, Everly, was said to be more « shy, » but that changed when she was on the ice.

In a final post shared to the girls’ joint Instagram, the sisters posed for a picture at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas, which concluded Sunday. According to a statement from U.S. Figure Skating, several of its members were aboard the American Airlines flight after a development camp held after the championships.

Several victims have been identified in the days since the accident. Officials say 14 of the 67 victims belonged to the skating community.

  • Trump White House demands apology after Jeffries calls for Dems to fight president’s agenda ‘in the streets’

FIRST ON FOX: The White House is blasting House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries after pledging to fight Republicans’ agenda « in the streets. »

« While President Trump remains focused on uniting our country and delivering the mandate set by the American people, the House Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, incites violence calling for people to fight ‘in the streets’ against President Trump’s agenda, » White House deputy press secretary Kush Desai told Fox News Digital.

« This unhinged violent rhetoric is dangerous. Leader Jeffries should immediately apologize. »

Republicans are hammering Jeffries for his comments at a press conference in Brooklyn on Friday.

‘DOGE’-MEETS-CONGRESS: GOP LAWMAKER AARON BEAN LAUNCHES CAUCUS TO HELP MUSK ‘TAKE ON CRAZYTOWN’

The Democratic leader appeared beside Congressional Black Caucus Chair Yvette Clarke, D-N.Y., to criticize Trump’s handling of the recent deadly aircraft collision in Washington, D.C., and his administration’s policies freezing federal funding.

At one point, Jeffries was asked about Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ lack of pushback against Trump, and whether it made him a « good fit » to lead the Big Apple.

Jeffries avoided weighing in directly on Adams, however, responding, « I’ll have more to say about the future of the mayorship of the city of New York at the appropriate time. »

DOGE SENATOR SEEKS TO ENSURE FEDS CAN CONTINUE PURSUING COVID FRAUDSTERS, DEBTORS AS IG SOUNDS ALARM

« Right now, we’re going to keep focused on the need to look out for everyday New Yorkers and everyday Americans who are under assault by an extreme MAGA Republican agenda that is trying to cut taxes for billionaires, donors, and wealthy corporations and then stick New Yorkers and working class Americans across the country with the bill, » Jeffries said.

« That’s not acceptable. We are going to fight it legislatively. We are going to fight it in the courts. We’re going to fight it in the streets. »

When asked for clarification, Jeffries spokesperson Christie Stephenson told Fox News Digital, « The notion that Leader Jeffries supports violence is laughable. Republicans are the party that pardons violent felons who assault police officers. Democrats are the party of John Lewis and the right to petition the government peacefully. »

She posted similar comments on X where she signaled the comments were referring to « nonviolent protest. »

But GOP lawmakers immediately called on Jeffries to apologize, accusing him of using inflammatory language in an already-tense political environment.

« House Minority Leader [Jeffries] should promptly apologize for his use of inflammatory and extreme rhetoric. President Trump and the Republicans are focused on uniting the country; Jeffries needs to stop trying to divide it, » House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, R-Minn., wrote on X.

  • Democrats rally around lightening rod issue during unruly DNC debate despite voter backlash in 2024

There was a heavy focus on systemic racism and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programs during the final debate among the eight candidates vying to chair the Democratic National Committee (DNC), as the party aims to exit the political wilderness.

The forum, moderated and carried live on MSNBC and held at Georgetown University in the nation’s capital city, develed into chaos early on as a wave of left-wing protesters repeatedly interrupted the primetime event, heckling over concerns of climate change and billionaires’ influence in America’s elections before they were forcibly removed by security.

Thanks in part to their repeated targeting of DEI efforts under former President Joe Biden’s administration, President Donald Trump recaptured the White House in November’s elections, with Republicans also retaking control of the Senate from the Democrats and the GOP holding onto its razor-thin majority in the House.

Jaime Harrison, the DNC chairman for the past four years, declined to seek another term steering the Democrats’ national party committee. The DNC will vote for a new chair on Saturday, as they hold their annual winter meeting this year at National Harbor, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.

FIRST ON FOX: AFTER 2024 ELECTION SETBACKS, DEMOCRATS EYE RURAL VOTERS

« Unlike the other party, that is demonizing diversity, we understand that diversity is our greatest strength, » Harrison said at the start of the debate before bringing the candidates out.

Biden and many Democrats portrayed DEI efforts as a way to boost inclusion and representation for communities historically marginalized. However Trump and his supporters, on the 2024 campaign trail, repeatedly charged that such programs were discriminatory and called for restoring « merit-based » hiring.

DEMOCRATS’ NEW SENATE CAMPAIGN CHAIR REVEALS KEYS TO WINNING BACK MAJORITY IN 2026

Since his inauguration on Jan. 20 and his return to power in the White House, Trump has signed a slew of sweeping executive orders and actions to end the federal government’s involvement in DEI programs, reversing in some cases decades of hiring practices by the federal government. Trump’s actions are also pushing large corporations in the private sector to abandon their diversity efforts.

At Thursday’s showdown, there was plenty of focus on diversity and racism.

At one point, the candidates were asked for a show of hands about how many believed that racism and misogyny played a role in former Vice President Kamala Harris’ defeat in the 2024 election to Trump.

All eight candidates running for DNC, as well as many people in the audience, raised their hands.

« That’s good. You all pass, » MSNBC host Jonathan Capehart, one of the moderators of the forum, quipped.

However, far from everyone in the party wants to see such issues dominate the discussion without the added inclusion of economic concerns such as inflation, which were top of mind at the ballot box in November.

DEMOCRATS’ HOUSE CAMPAIGN CHAIR TELLS FOX NEWS HER PLAN TO WIN BACK MAJORITY

« The Democrats pathway to power runs directly through kitchen table economics and the notion we can fight for economic opportunity and ensuring everyone is treat with dignity and respect, » said Democratic strategist Joe Caiazzo, a veteran of Sen. Bernie Sanders’ 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, who is attending the party’s winter meeting.

Former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley, considered one of the frontrunners in the DNC chair race, in speaking with reporters after the forum, pointed to the gains made by Trump and Republicans among diverse voters in the 2024 election and argued that the party did not spend enough time concentrating on « the kitchen table issues. »

« Whether you’re Hispanic, whether you’re transgender, whether you’re gay, whether you’re straight, whether you’re Black, whether you’re White. Everybody needs to eat. And the people we lost in every segment were people who struggled the most to put food on their family’s table. And they were the ones we lost across the board, » O’Malley argued.

The protests, staged in waves, include calls for the DNC chair candidates to bring back the party’s ban on corporate PAC and lobbyist donations that was in effect during former President Barack Obama’s administration.

The youth-led, left-wing climate action organization known as the Sunrise Movement, said the first three protesters were affiliated with their group.

CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP

Another protester, who was not believed to be affiliated with the Sunrise Movement, as he was dragged out of the debate hall by security, yelled, « What will you do to get fossil fuel money out of Democratic politics? We are facing a climate emergency! »

Much of the audience, which consisted of many DNC voting members, appeared frustrated by the repeated interruptions.

« Protest the Republicans. Protest the people who are actually hurting you! » a member of the audience shouted out.

  • Trump could be on verge of legal victory against CBS as settlement speculation heats up

President Donald Trump may be on the verge of another legal victory.

In October, Trump filed a $10 billion lawsuit against CBS News alleging election interference over its handling of the « 60 Minutes » interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing the network of aiding his Democratic rival through deceptive editing.

Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal reported that CBS parent company Paramount Global was considering settling the suit ahead of a planned merger that ultimately must pass muster with the new Trump administration.

The New York Times reported on Thursday night that « settlement discussions between representatives of Paramount and Mr. Trump are now underway, » citing « three people with knowledge of the talks. »

TRUMP SUES CBS NEWS FOR $10 BILLION ALLEGING ‘DECEPTIVE DOCTORING’ OF HARRIS’ ’60 MINUTES’ INTERVIEW

The Times added that there is « no assurance » the talks will result in a deal but « Shari Redstone, Paramount’s controlling shareholder, strongly supports the effort to settle. »

« Many executives at CBS’s parent company, Paramount, believe that settling the lawsuit would increase the odds that the Trump administration does not block or delay their planned multibillion-dollar merger with another company, according to several people with knowledge of the matter, » the Times reported.

The Wall Street Journal previously suggested Paramount honchos wanted to reach a deal ahead of a merger with Skydance Media.

Ed Paltzik, an attorney for President Trump, said CBS needs to be held accountable.

« President Donald J. Trump is committed to holding those who traffic in deception and fake news accountable. CBS and its parent company Paramount deceived the American People by unlawfully tampering with their interview of Kamala Harris, and then hiding the transcript from the public in an attempt to save the failing, and now failed, Harris campaign, all in desperate commercial pursuit of increased profit and viewership, » Paltzik told Fox News Digital.

« Real accountability for CBS and Paramount will ensure that the President is compensated for the harm done to him, and will deter the Fake News from further distorting the facts to advance a partisan agenda, » Paltzik continued. « President Trump looks forward to seeing this case through to a just conclusion. »

CBS NEWS STATEMENT ON CONTROVERSIAL ’60 MINUTES’ EDIT FALLS FLAT ON SOCIAL MEDIA: ‘PUBLISH. THE. TRANSCRIPT.’

Trump’s lawsuit focused on an exchange Harris had with « 60 Minutes » correspondent Bill Whitaker. In a preview clip that aired on « Face the Nation, » Harris was asked why it seemed like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wasn’t listening to the U.S.

« Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region, » Harris responded in the « Face the Nation » clip.

Harris was mocked by conservatives for offering a lengthy « word salad » to Whitaker. But when that same question aired the following night in the primetime election special, a shorter, more focused answer from the vice president followed.

« We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end, » Harris said in the primetime special.

Critics accused CBS News of editing Harris’ « word salad » answer to shield the vice president from further backlash. Trump lawyers argue that news organizations « are responsible for accurately representing the truth of events, not distorting an interview to try and falsely make their preferred candidate appear coherent and decisive, which Kamala most certainly is not. »

CBS News and Paramount did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s requests for comment.

TRUMP SENDS LETTER TO CBS DEMANDING UNEDITED ‘60 MINUTES’ HARRIS TRANSCRIPT, TEASES POTENTIAL LAWSUIT

CBS News previously refused to release the full transcript, citing the First Amendment, and rejected the assertion that it had « doctored » the Harris interview to mislead the American people. The network insisted that « the interview was not doctored » and that the program « did not hide any part of the vice president’s answer to the question at issue. »

CBS settlement speculation comes just weeks after ABC News settled its defamation lawsuit filed by Trump, resulting in giving him $15 million and a written apology.

Fox News Digital’s Joseph A. Wulfsohn and Brooke Singman contributed to this report.

JOHANNESBURG- Fighting reportedly over minerals needed for electric cars and mobile phones has become the Trump administration’s first real foreign affairs test in Africa. Bodies lie rotting in the streets, and hospitals have been overwhelmed with casualties in Goma, a city of 2 million people in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). M23 rebels, backed, the United Nations and other sources say, by neighboring Rwanda, are said to have taken over the city. « The M23 appears to have taken control of a significant portion of the city following intense fighting with the Congolese army, » The United Nation’s Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stated Wednesday, adding, « Reports have emerged of looting of shops, offices, and warehouses belonging to humanitarian organizations, while heavy gunfire and explosions have been heard in various parts of the city. » OCHA added « Local sources believe the civilian casualties are significant, although [an] assessment is yet to be conducted. » Thirteen South African peacekeeping troops have been killed over the past week.13 UN PEACEKEEPERS, ALLIED SOLDIERS DEAD IN CONGO AS M23 REBELS MAKE GAINS IN KEY CITYChairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Sen. Jim Risch, R-Idaho., recently stated in part that, « The M23 must immediately stop their advance on Goma, and all parties must cease hostilities, restore unhindered humanitarian access, and honor their commitments. »In the DRC’s capital, 10 foreign embassies, including the U.S. mission, have been attacked. Some, including the French Embassy, have been set on fire. »The M23 or March 23 Movement is a Tutsi-led and eastern-DRC based insurgent movement born around 2012 », Frans Cronje, adviser at the U.S. Yorktown Foundation for Freedom, told Fox News Digital. He added « The ensuing conflict has been sustained for more than 3 decades, in large part as a consequence of the extraordinary mineral wealth of the DRC. »Cronje, who also advises corporations and government departments on economic and political trajectory, continued. « According to a United Nations report, M23 has raised significant sums from ‘taxing’ minerals mined in areas under its control – a practice common to armed groups operating in the DRC. »This is borne out by a 160-page report commissioned by the U.N. Security Council from their « Group of Experts on the Democratic Republic of the Congo », and presented to the council late last year. The report states M23 and Rwanda Defence Force operatives in the DRC captured « the Rubaya mining sites – one of the world’s largest sources of coltan – a mineral used in EV batteries – on 30 April 2024. » The U.N. report says the M23 joined up with another rebel group, the AFC (the Congo River Alliance), « and levied taxes and in-kind payments on the sale and transport of minerals. The tax on a kilogram of coltan and manganese was $7, while the tax on tin (cassiterite) was $4 per kilogram. AFC/M23 thus collected at least $800,000 monthly from the taxation of coltan production and trade in Rubaya. »Cronje pointed out this week that there are other precious metals M23 has its eyes on too. « The DRC accounts for between 70-80% of the world’s Cobalt production. Cobalt’s importance is such that the U.S. Department of Energy has listed it as one of seven minerals essential to U.S. economic competitiveness, while the Department of Defense identified cobalt as having ‘critical’ applications. Alongside that, the DRC is the third-largest producer of copper in the world, accounting for about 11% of global production. »President Donald Trump spoke about the fighting on Thursday. « It is a very serious problem. I agree, but I don’t think it’s appropriate right now to talk about it, » when asked about it during a briefing on the deadly airline crash in Washington, D.C., on Thursday afternoon. BIDEN ADMIN’S DRIVE FOR GREEN ENERGY LEADS TO ACCUSATIONS OF FORCED CHILD LABOR MINING FOR EV BATTERY METALSHowever, the State Department is speaking on the issue, calling for a ceasefire. Secretary of State Marco Rubio told Rwandan President Paul Kagame, « the United States is deeply troubled by [the] escalation of the ongoing conflict in eastern DRC, particularly the fall of Goma to the Rwandan backed M23 armed group, » spokesperson Tammy Bruce stated, adding « the secretary urged an immediate ceasefire in the region and for all parties to respect sovereign territorial integrity, » adding that the overriding goal of the United States is a durable peace that addresses security concerns and lays the foundation for a thriving regional economy. » Kagame responded on X, posting that his conversation with Rubio was « productive. » He said it covered « the need to ensure a ceasefire in (the) Eastern DRC, and address the root causes of the conflict once and for all. »Kagame added, « I look forward to working with the Trump Administration to create the prosperity and security that the people of our region deserve. » »The M23 conflict is indeed about minerals, but more so Rwandan ambition to control and administer much of Congo’s North Kivu », Bill Roggio, editor of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies’ Long War Journal, told Fox News Digital. « Rwanda would like to control not only the minerals, but also the entire trade in the region, and flex its muscles as a new regional powerhouse in central and East Africa. Rwanda also claims it is about border security, but really it’s more about its own geopolitical ambitions in the region. »

Roggio continued, saying that it « is somewhat related to the Biden administration’s inability to bring both Congo and Rwanda to the table and negotiate real settlements, either through the Luanda Process or the earlier Nairobi Process. » He added « especially it is a failure to put enough pressure on Rwanda to pull back its support for M23, as the Obama administration had accomplished in 2012 when M23 previously captured Goma, but were forced to withdraw after the U.S. pressured Rwanda. »For the new administration, there is a chance here to make positive steps towards a positive legacy in Africa. Michael Rubin told Fox News Digital, « For Trump and Rubio, they have the opportunity to do something different that could fix the problem permanently. » Rubin is a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, and in 2024 embedded for several weeks with the M23 rebels. INCOMING TRUMP ADMIN, CONGRESS SHOWDOWN LOOMS WITH SOUTH AFRICA OVER SUPPORT FOR RUSSIA, US FOESRubin continued, « What we’ve had for too long is that old definition of insanity: doing the same thing repeatedly, but expecting different results. There’s been two Congo wars, and if we try to apply the same band-aid to a sucking chest wound this time, there will be a third. »The blame should rest not on Rwanda, Rubin believes, but on the DRC. « The narrative that the DRC is the victim and Rwanda and Uganda aggressors is tired. The problem is Kinshasa. If Tshisekedi (Felix Tshisekedi, DRC President) can stop armed groups in the south, he can do so in the east as well. He turned to ethnic incitement to distract from incompetent government; that never ends well. »Rubin added that « the arguments about Rwanda looting the region are not valid. Businessmen in North Kivu, are blunt: Rwanda and Uganda charge less in customs duties than Kinshasa extracts in taxes. Kinshasa cries wolf because Kigali outcompetes them. If Kinshasa wanted businessmen to turn to them, try lowering taxes and building plants to turn raw materials into something with higher sale value. »China and Russia stand on the sidelines, waiting to choose who they dance with to get the DRC’s minerals. China has spoken out against the M23. It threatens their mining interests in the country. Additionally, soldiers from Russia’s Africa Corps, the former Wagner Group’s private army of mercenaries, have been seen in Goma, propping up the DRC’s soldiers against the M23. Cronje told Fox News Digital Russia and China are poised to potentially support the winner, saying « the geostrategic importance of the region is such that all global powers have an interest in influencing the balance of power in eastern DRC either directly or indirectly. »

  • Here’s why US Iron Dome is necessary, but will differ from Israel’s

President Donald Trump’s executive order, titled « The Iron Dome for America, » calls for revamping our missile defense capabilities, which the president labels « the most catastrophic threat facing the United States. » However, there are significant challenges to overcome if we are to deploy something similar to Israel’s acclaimed air defense network because the threat to America is quite different.Today, we face real threats such as nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM) launched from countries like China and Russia, which could put at risk the entire United States. During the Cold War (1948-1991) with the Soviet Union, we addressed that threat with our doctrine of « Mutual Assured Destruction. » If Moscow attacked us with long-range nuclear missiles, we would retaliate with an overwhelming number of similar weapons that would result in the annihilation of both nations. That doctrine worked because it ratcheted up fear on both sides. Our challenge today is more complicated than during the Cold War because we face multiple enemies which present a wide variety of airborne threats. Specifically, nation state adversaries like Russia, China, North Korea and Iran all have or are developing long-range nuclear systems that put the U.S. at risk. Also, there are a host of terrorist groups with access to sophisticated technologies such as drones and rockets that threaten our overseas interests and perhaps our homeland. 5 THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP’S ‘IRON DOME’ PLAN FOR AMERICAFurther, many of these weapons are guided by space-based systems, which make them more precise and come in a variety of hard-to-defend-against packages – hypersonic missiles that are difficult to track, ballistic missiles with multiple warheads, drones of many sizes and capabilities, sea-launched cruise missiles, and more.Unfortunately, America’s ability to defend the homeland from such a range of aerial threats is frankly limited, which explains Trump’s order to immediately address the issue.Let’s put that task into perspective by considering the Israeli aerial defense model.Trump calls for us to build something akin to Israel’s « Iron Dome » to defend America against a plethora of threats. Understandably, his desire is to protect America from attacks such as those Iran launched at Israel in 2024, whereby virtually all the projectiles were downed before they hit the Jewish state.Israel’s effective, three-part air-defense network includes the Iron Dome, which is designed to stop short-range rockets and artillery shells launched from the Gaza Strip.UNDER FIRE: ISRAEL’S IRON DOME WINNING BUT PRESSURE’S ON AS CONFLICT WITH IRAN ESCALATESThe second tier is David’s Sling, which is intended to intercept ballistic and cruise missiles, such as those possessed by Hezbollah in Lebanon. The third tier is known as Arrow 3, which intercepts missiles flying outside Earth’s atmosphere, such as long-range missiles launched by Houthi militants in Yemen or those Iran used to attack Israel in 2024.Although Israel’s three-tiered network performed well in 2024, it is not necessarily the right model for the United States. There are three key differences.First, the U.S. is unlike Israel, which built its network to defend against mostly drones, artillery and cruise missiles launched from a neighboring country. The U.S. is unlikely to be attacked by Canada or Mexico. Rather, any aerial attack will likely involve ICBMs or missiles/drones launched from ships or submarines off our shores.Second, Israel is a very small country, approximately 8,630 square miles or the size of New Jersey. The U.S. is 440 times the size of Israel with population centers and sensitive sites spread across this vast country. Defending our entire landscape from all aerial threats would be incredibly expensive, especially if it was done on the scale seen in Israel.WHAT IS ISRAEL’S FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE, THE IRON DOME?Third, the U.S. has a variety of air defense systems in its inventory, which are not networked like those seen in Israel. Yes, we have an anti-ICBM system in Alaska and California with 44 missiles. However, that system is focused primarily on the threat posed by North Korea. Our other systems are for fixed site defenses deployed mostly outside the United States. Those movable systems include the AEGIS ballistic missile system, which is sea-based and designed to intercept ballistic missiles during the midcourse or terminal phases of flight. We field a variety of site-specific systems such as the MIM-104 Patriot, capable of engaging ballistic and cruise missiles. The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) intercepts ballistic missiles in the terminal phase of flight. The National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile System (NASAMS) is a medium-range air defense, which is part of the U.S. National Capital Region’s air defense system since 2005. There are also other tactical platforms such as the Avenger Air Defense System, FIM-92 Stinger and the Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense (M-SHORAD).Like other nations, the U.S. is working on directed energy weapons (lasers) and other counters to low-priced anti-systems against drones and rockets as well. CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONThe task for the Pentagon to satisfy Trump’s executive order of deploying a « next-generation missile defense shield » is to find the right mix of air defense platforms, the right doctrine and an effective defense strategy. This effort begins by assessing the threat against very specific domestic sites and prioritize the placement of our capabilities and accept risk elsewhere. We must also develop something akin to the Cold War’s doctrine of Mutually Assured Destruction, such that our nuclear-armed enemies understand the risk to them should they contemplate launching weapons against us.Finally, the air defense strategy sketched in the White House’s fact sheet on the topic reminds me of something akin to President Ronald Reagan’s 1983 « Star Wars » initiative, formally named the Strategic Defense Initiative, which relied on space-based sensors and interceptors. At the time, it sobered the Soviets and led to agreements that tempered the nuclear threat, such as the intermediate-range Nuclear Forces Treaty and the Strategic Arms Reductions Talks. In fact, Reagan’s Star Wars program, much like Trump’s « Iron Dome » proposal, was intended to protect the U.S. from aerial threats. At the time, Reagan’s program aimed to render nuclear weapons obsolete. That effort failed. By contrast, Trump’s 2025 program is more pragmatic and attainable. After all, he aims to make America safer from most aerial threats by fielding an American-version of Israel’s « Iron Dome. » Perhaps that’s very ambitious and could be quite costly, but clearly, in this time of exploding aerial threats, it is a national security necessity worth serious consideration.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM ROBERT MAGINNIS

  • Costco shopper believes company should focus on lowering prices than DEI

Costco shoppers shared their opinions about the company’s « commitment » to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies in the wake of many other retailers scaling back their DEI efforts. »Baloney, to be honest with you. I think they should get rid of it, » Robert of Madison Heights, Michigan told Fox News Digital. « Puts people in there that aren’t qualified to do this, to do the job that they’re hired for. »Shoppers in Michigan, Texas and New York spoke with Fox News Digital while they were shopping or pumping gas at the retail store.Several customers shared similar sentiments as Robert, evoking the term « merit » when prompted to respond to whether DEI has valid implications.REV. AL SHARPTON THREATENS BOYCOTTS FOR COMPANIES ENDING DEI: ‘YOU TOOK EVERYTHING’ »I mean you hire on merit alone, » Clara in Tomball, Texas said. »I think it should be merit based, » said Laura, a Texas resident.Costco shareholders voted earlier this month to reject an anti-DEI proposal brought by activist shareholder group National Center for Public Policy Research. While Costco is standing firm behind its DEI policies, many other corporations have announced plans to ditch the controversial programs following a nationwide backlash. Facebook, McDonald’s, Walmart, Harley-Davidson and many other companies have all rolled back their DEI programs in recent months.Costco is bucking the trend and appears to have the support of some of their customers. »I support DEI practices, » Texas resident John told Fox News Digital.TRUMP’S FEDERAL DEI PURGE PUTS HUNDREDS ON LEAVE, NIXES $420M IN CONTRACTS »I think they need to include everybody. That’s where this planet is going. It’s truly about the whole and not the few, » Allen, a Texas resident, said. While pumping gas at a Costco in Madison Heights, a patron was asked whether Costco should care more about hiring practices with DEI objectives or lowering grocery prices. »I would say DEI because the person is more important, » Carol said. She added that she does not agree with President Donald Trump’s position to get rid of DEI policies in the federal government. However, a patron in Harlem told Fox News Digital that the retailer should care more about the price of groceries. »The price of groceries. Yeah. Too much. Too much. Are you kidding me? I mean, I’m working. I have a little pension, and I still can’t make ends meet, » the shopper said.A customer, who did not disclose his name, said he is a « huge fan of DEI. » »I think there’s a lot of ignorance out there, » he said. « I really do. I mean, I think we have a history of just being discriminatory in this country. And I don’t think that it improves anybody’s life if you don’t support programs like that. »

  • The 6 craziest stories of January. Salute!

It’s hard to believe that 2025 is already 1/12 complete. We survived the transition from an incoherent placeholder presidency to the new America and a new president. We endured the global cooling, oops, warming, that brought snow to Florida and Texas and 11-degree mornings to north Georgia. January didn’t stop there. It featured the terrifying nightmare of a Dunkin’ Donuts shortage and the media freakout over the renaming of the Gulf of Mexico into the Gulf of America. Along the way, the world kept getting crazier. Like always, the press led the way. Here are some of the craziest stories from the month gone by:Lefty Washington Post columnist Jennifer Rubin announced she is joining the mass exodus from the paper and starting a new venture called The Contrarian. (She hasn’t been contrary to the major media in years.) She posted a short (Thank, God!) video with partner Norm Eisen, a CNN legal analyst. The video was widely panned as « cringe » and depicted the pair claiming their new outlet would be « an exciting new online platform. » That was said with all the passion you get watching milk curdle.Eisen added, « [B]ut we know that any successful, pro-democracy movement also has to be very vocal about culture. » He promised a cooking column, « but we’re gonna sprinkle in a little bit of pro-democracy flavor. » NeverTrump cooking lessons. Yum! CRYSTAL BALL NEWS SHOWS 6 WAYS MEDIA WILL WAR WITH TRUMP ONE MORE TIMEIt was like watching a mixture of an old-school « Saturday Night Live » skit overlaid with the berserk, faux sincerity of NPR. If you were making a video to make fun of them, it wouldn’t have been this hilarious. The White House exes – both President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris – reminded voters of what fun we missed with four more years of either candidate. Biden, who delivered word mush for many years before the press was forced to admit it, couldn’t handle the difficult challenge of singing… « Happy Birthday. »The former prez who, at 82, has presumably heard the song a few times, still flubbed it. Apparently, he couldn’t remember the name of the young guest named Alicio. When it came time to muster the name, Biden just drifted off into Mumble City. The only thing the video lacked was Alicio going all Walter White and telling Biden, « Say my name. »THE GREAT DEBATE: IS DONALD TRUMP COOL?Not to be outdone, Harris couldn’t even muster the « Pledge of Allegiance. » She’s old enough at 60 to have attended school when teachers still taught it, before the left wrecked American education. Didn’t matter. Even though she urged the Senate to « join me in pledging allegiance to our flag, » she forgot the flag as soon as she started. « To the flag » are words four through six of the pledge, except when leftists say it. Let’s just call that flagging patriotism.Dunkin’ (Formerly Dunkin’ Donuts), one of America’s premier sugar-delivery operations, ran out of… doughnuts (The correct spelling, for the marketing folks at Dunkin’.) Outages were reported in New Mexico and Nebraska. Corporate said just 4% of the stores ran out, except Dunkin’ has 9,500 stores. So, nearly 400 stores had no doughnuts and no donuts.Speaking for the doughnut-eating (and Dunkin’-loving) citizens of the world. Do better. Don’t make us find another location to spend our dough – or buy it.TRUMP’S TRIUMPH: FIRST WEEK PROVES PRESIDENT RIGHT IN ALL THESE WAYSLongtime readers know my favorite movie is the original « Producers. » It’s an incredible comedy that makes fun of Nazis. And now, thanks to entrepreneur Elon Musk and the laughably leftist media, the movie is current events.Musk, with his characteristic, socially awkward introversion, gave his heart to the crowd at a Trump gathering, thrusting his hand into the air. The media swarmed, creating the first viral, phony controversy of the Trump Two era. Even the far left Anti-Defamation League, which bashes Nazis for a living, said it wasn’t a Nazi salute. Didn’t matter. An enormous number of so-called news outlets pretended it was. Wonder how many of those making this phony claim are still driving their Teslas. Justice is blind, they say. It’s also pretty stupid. Reese Witherspoon, star of the epic legal comedy « Legally Blonde » and its pathetic sequel, ended up on jury duty. Kudos to her for refusing to dodge her civic duty. But she wasn’t the problem.CLICK HERE FOR MORE FOX NEWS OPINIONWitherspoon revealed on the « Graham Norton Show » that the other jurors « unanimously » chose her as foreman. Why? Because they thought she had gone to law school, because of a movie. OK, admittedly it was Beverly Hills, so intellect generally not required. Except they make the movies nearby. One might think they’d know what actors do.Say the word Peta and people worldwide think of the most-annoying group of Karens imaginable, the kind who work for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. What better way to end than to say the group is full of… manure.A pair of Peta poo promoters tried to dump a truckload of manure on the headquarters of their competitors – the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or ASPCA. Only the manure managers at Peta had their heads in their… truck so far that they forgot manure freezes. And they tried the dumping during the peak cold front in Manhattan. The result showed a frustrated Peta person digging the manure out of the truck bed like he had been cast in some disturbing remake of « Frozen. » New York’s finest locked him and his partner up, while most of the manure stayed lodged in the truck. I guess it’s true, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE FROM DAN GAINOR

  • Skaters killed in plane crash were Olympic hopefuls, peers say: ‘Absolutely remarkable’

Emotions were running high at The Skating Club of Boston Thursday after six people with ties to the organization died in a plane crash near Reagan International Airport Wednesday night. Among those who spoke were Olympic silver medalist Nancy Kerrigan, who couldn’t hold back tears while talking about the crash.President Donald Trump said there were no survivors after an American Airlines jet collided with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter. The plane was carrying 64 people, among them teenage skaters Jinna Han and Spencer Lane, their mothers Jin Han and Christine Lane and their coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COMThree members of The Skating Club of Boston — Misha Mitrofanov, Jimmy Ma and Alisa Efimova — also spoke of their peers, who they say were the next generation of hopeful U.S. Olympians. « The potential that they showed on the ice and the capabilities they had at such a young age showed that they had promise for the future of this sport, » Mitrofanov, whose partner is Efimova, told reporters Thursday. Mitrofanov and Efimova had just won the 2025 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Wichita, Kansas, in the pairs discipline. That’s where the American Airlines flight was coming from. Han and Lane were returning from a developmental camp over the weekend.OLYMPIC GREAT NANCY KERRIGAN FIGHTS THROUGH TEARS AS SHE TALKS ABOUT VICTIMS IN TRAGIC PLANE CRASH »The camp basically brings them in for the championships so that they can watch, for example, Jimmy, or at least an ice skate at a championship level, » Mitrofanov said. « Afterwards, they are part of a fairly strict routine. … Lot of training, lots of drills and exercises that the U.S. Figure Skating wants to see. »Han, 13, and Lane, 16, were chosen for the developmental camp because of the promise they showed, and Ma was blunt about just how promising these two skaters were. « Absolutely phenomenal, » Ma said. « If I was their age back when I was their age, they would blow me out of the water. Even Jinna, at 13 years old, I couldn’t do anything. She was already 10 times better than me at such a young age. »They showed championship-level skating. It would take time for them to develop to maximize their full potential. But the amount they were able to achieve in such a short amount of time was absolutely remarkable. »Efimova said the campers were spotted in the crowd in the red jackets they would wear, and as she worked along with Mitrofanov to win in pairs, she used their cheering as motivation. « They all have these red jackets, so you can really, really identify this community during the competition, which helps me personally a lot to bring a lot of joy into skating, » Efimova said.Ma also pointed out how great Shishkova and Naumov, winners at the 1994 world championships in pairs while competing in two Olympic Games, were as coaches. « Their meticulousness in developing young skaters is almost unparalleled, » Ma explained. « You could tell by their son, Max, who I consider not just a friend, but a fierce competitor. I look at him every day, I’m like, ‘Damn, I got to do better.’ That was all them. »The Skating Club of Boston wasn’t the only figure skating community that was hit by this. The Philadelphia Skating Club & Humane Society posted on social media that « beloved members » of its team were on the flight. Skating coach Alexandr Kirsanov and two of his youth skaters were also aboard the fight, according to Kirsanov’s wife, per ABC News. »U.S. Figure Skating can confirm that several members of our skating community were sadly aboard American Airlines Flight 5342, which collided with a helicopter yesterday evening in Washington, D.C., » U.S. Figure Skating said in a statement. « We are devastated by this unspeakable tragedy and hold the victims’ families closely in our hearts. »As the figure skating world and others affected by the crash mourn the losses of loved ones, Mitrofanov said skaters will continue to train and compete with their « family » in mind. « Watching these kids skate and watching their fire and love for the sport, that’s what helped us to, honestly, continue training, » Mitrofanov said. « Watching these kids develop helps us want to push ourselves as well. It’s a two-way street that they look up to us, but we also look up to them. »Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

  • VP Vance makes confirmation predictions for Gabbard, Patel and RFK, Jr: ‘Have to fight for each one’

Vice President JD Vance delivered blunt advice to Republican senators considering voting against President Donald Trump’s nominees to lead key three-letter agencies: « You don’t get to make these decisions. »Vance sat down with Fox News host Sean Hannity Wednesday for an interview from the nation’s capital a day before the Senate held confirmation hearings for FBI director nominee Kash Patel and DNI director nominee Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard, Patel and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. (RFK), Trump’s pick to lead the United States Department of Health and Human Services, are considered to be the administration’s most controversial picks, who could struggle to get confirmed.Vance said he ultimately believes the trio will make it through the process, but Republicans will « have to fight for each one. »TRUMP FIRES 17 GOVERNMENT WATCHDOGS AT VARIOUS FEDERAL AGENCIESHe praised Senate Republicans for being « freethinking and « independent » but argued the commander-in-chief is the one who gets to decide who he wants in his Cabinet. »…The president has made his selections and the advice and consent power of the United States Senate should not be used to block people because you have one policy disagreement on one issue, » Vance told Hannity Thursday. « You don’t get to make these decisions. President Trump gets to make these decisions, and he already has. »The former Ohio senator encouraged his fellow Republicans to look at Trump’s 2024 coalition, questioning whether they could have won in November had they not included people like Gabbard and RFK, Jr.TRUMP ADDS RFK JR., TULSI GABBARD TO HIS TRANSITION TEAM AS HE RECRUITS SUPPORTERS ‘ACROSS PARTISAN LINES’ « Donald Trump won an imposing mandate because he got a different group of people to vote Republican than had ever voted Republican. We have to give those parts of the coalition some wins, too. So, yes, we’ve got a lot of traditional Republicans in the administration. We’ve got a lot of traditional national security hawks in the administration. But we’ve also got some new people, some people who bring a fresh perspective, » said Vance. As of Thursday, Trump has eight members of his Cabinet confirmed so far: Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum. The next steps for Patel, Gabbard and RFK, Jr. are committee markup votes.

  • UK actor Idris Elba suggests kitchen knives be blunted, others banned to prevent stabbings

Actor Idris Elba announced amid his forthcoming knife crime documentary that the United Kingdom must consider « innovative » prevention methods such as blunting or banning knives.According to IMDb, the documentary, « explores the reality of knife crime in the UK, meeting offenders, families, youth workers, and police to understand this crime and find solutions, including discussions with Keir Starmer and King Charles. »The 52-year-old actor spoke with the BBC shortly before the release of his documentary about how to solve knife crime. « The truth is that kitchen knives are perhaps 25% of the knives used in most of the terrible crimes. That’s one of the stats in the film. And those kitchen knives are usually a domestic situation, » Elba warned. « So kitchen knives… of course, it’s very difficult. They’re a domestic knife. »UK POLICE COMMISSIONER THREATENS TO EXTRADITE, JAIL US CITIZENS OVER ONLINE POSTS: ‘WE’LL COME AFTER YOU’The U.K.-based actor added further, « I do think there is areas of innovation that we can do with kitchen knives. I hate to say it. Not all kitchen knives need to have a point on them. That sounds like a crazy thing to say, but actually it would reduce- you know, you can still cut your food without the point on your knife, which is an innovative way to sort of look at it, » he said. « In a country in crisis, I’m sorry, but yeah, let’s look at that. »He went on to suggest that there is a loophole for « heritage knives » that also allows people to have a « ninja sword. » »So let’s ban them all, and if you have one of those knives, get a license for it, » he suggested of people wanting to keep family heirloom swords. « Simple as that. »He argued that backing such a licensing program is a « small contribution to society » because the current situation is « leaving these kids vulnerable. »The Telegraph quoted Elba calling for social media platforms to take responsibility as well. »When it comes to big tech, there needs to be accountability within their own policies, and their policies need to be educated and driven by what society deems is right or wrong, » he argued. « It’s great that you’re a big company, you make a lot of money, got lots of social media followers, that’s fantastic. But by the way, we don’t like knives, we’re not going to tolerate you advertising knives to young people, please. »UK LOOKS TO TREAT MISOGYNY AS EXTREMIST VIOLENCE, RAISING FREE SPEECH CRACKDOWN CONCERNSHe concluded, « We don’t like porn, we don’t like this, we don’t like bully dogs, it can be done in a society, and in my opinion, where democracy leads, it takes a village. »According to The Telegraph, « A ban on the sale of pointed kitchen knives has been backed by the Church of England, judges, top trauma doctors and psychiatrists, the police and victims as they argue that it would make life-threatening injuries far less likely. »One recent knife crime that put a spotlight on the issue in the UK came when Axel Rudakubana, 18, allegedly stabbed three young girls to death and attempted the murder of eight other children and two adults in July. He was also charged with possessing an al Qaeda training manual and ricin poison.
