  • Philadelphia man stabs Planet Fitness worker after getting banned from gym: police

A Philadelphia man is facing an attempted murder charge after authorities say he stabbed a gym employee multiple times at a Planet Fitness he had been previously banned from, leaving the victim fighting for his life.

Davier Massey, 28, was arrested Thursday shortly after the attack at the gym in the Wyncote section of Cheltenham Township, the local police department said.

Officers responded around 12:30 p.m. to reports of a stabbing at the Planet Fitness and found a male employee suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said. He was rushed to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries. No updates on his current condition were immediately provided.

Investigators said the attack followed an altercation between the employee and Massey, who had previously been banned from the gym.

  • Easter duck-hunting trip in New Orleans turns nearly deadly until last-minute prayer brings miracle

Authors Squire Rushnell and Louise DuArt coined the word « Godwink » to describe the way the Lord works in mysterious ways, exemplified by this story for Easter Sunday. As they told Fox News Digital, « What mysterious force in the universe causes us to help someone in need — only to discover that we are the ones being led to life changes? »

In New Orleans for Easter a few years ago, shop windows just recently decorated with sequined outfits, colorful boas and feathered headdresses for Mardi Gras were now trimmed in baskets of pink and green, chocolate bunnies and Lily of the Valley.

Gerry Ponson, together with his then-girlfriend Shannon, strolled arm in arm through the French Quarter, laughing and stealing affectionate glances.

PASTOR AND STRANGER LINKED BY GOSPEL SONG AS MIRACULOUS KIDNEY DONATION SAVES TWO LIVES

Ponson balanced an air of boyish curiosity with the commanding presence of a sea captain who could turn on a dime to bark orders at his crew. Meanwhile, the nurse in Shannon showed.

She’d learned to tuck her patience into a delightful carefree spirit. What didn’t show was her worry — that if she pushed her rugged beau too close to marriage, he might bolt.

Fortunately, Gerry’s younger sister, Penny Ponson, had become Shannon’s best ally. The women shared a strong faith, and during heart-to-heart talks, they’d agreed he would benefit from believing in « someone up there » bigger than himself.

Penny told Shannon about a recent time she’d mentioned the subject of faith with her brother.

« I told him, ‘Even if you reject Him, God loves you, and you can’t do a thing about it!’ »

« What did he say to that? » Shannon asked.

TEXAS COMMUNITY FOR SPECIAL-NEEDS ADULTS IS A MODEL FOR OTHERS: ‘A JOYFUL PLACE’

« Get out of the house! »

    They both laughed.

During that spring holiday period, Ponson had a tradition. Every year, he took his older friend, Mac, along with Mac’s championship golden retriever, Booga, duck hunting across the bay from New Orleans. This year, Mac had been hurting — he’d lost his wife of 45 years.

As was their norm, the trio set out in Ponson’s 17-foot boat at 4:30 a.m. Booga took his post, standing at the bow while Gerry wrapped Mac in a heavy blanket and a wool watch cap. The temperature hovered in the 30s.

For the first half-hour, Ponson felt excitement about the venture. Then, noticing changes in the wind and the rocking of the boat, an uneasiness crept over the veteran seaman.

He always checked the weather — second nature for a fisherman. But the wind, rising quickly, brought higher waves that slammed the small boat with growing force.

Ponson had heard the lore of fast-developing storms in the northern Gulf — systems that escaped the notice of meteorologists — before exploding into near-gale winds, towering waves and rare but deadly storms.

Within moments, icy water began crashing over the gunwale, causing the boat to flip like a toy — and dumping the three occupants into the dark, shockingly cold water.

Ponson grabbed his friend by the latter man’s life jacket, shouting, « Keep moving your arms and feet! » He knew his older friend could quickly suffer from hypothermia.

BUS DRIVER HAILED AS HERO FOR SAVING YOUNG CHILD WANDERING ALONE ON BUSY STREET

Something bumped his arm — it was the boat’s 10-foot push pole. He seized it, driving it downward into the churning water. When it struck bottom, Ponson was thankful — at least they’d have something to hang onto.

« Hold on, Mac, » said Ponson over the wind. « There’ll be a boat coming down the channel, I’m sure of it. »

Booga paddled over, panting. For awhile, Ponson held him up by his collar.

Over the next hour, as the waves battered the three of them in total darkness, Ponson fought to keep everyone alive — holding Mac upright for several minutes, then giving Booga a rest.

« I’m cold, Gerry, » Mac said in a weak voice.

Ponson felt helpless and frustrated. Finally, he made the hardest decision he could remember.

« I can’t save you both, Mac, » he said sympathetically. « I’ve got to let Booga go. »

He shooed the dog toward shore, knowing the chances of survival were nearly impossible in this weather.

« Hold on, Mac. It’ll be light soon, » he said. « Somebody’ll come. »

But an hour passed without another boat in sight. Moreover, believing in unseen things or miracles had never been Ponson’s strong suit.

His thoughts drifted to Shannon. She was a believer — but she gave him his space.

Another half hour crawled by. The sky slowly began to turn gray, and the waves began to ease. Yet a mist had surrounded them.

« I can’t hold on much longer, » Mac croaked.

For the first time, Gerry remembered what Penny had said: « God loves you, and you can’t do a thing about it! »

He tilted his face toward the empty sky. « If you’re there — please send us a boat, » he whispered. Then, as an afterthought, he added, « Please, give me a second chance. »

Less than a minute later, something moved in the fog. He squinted. A hole in the mist seemed to open.

    Was it a cross?

Suddenly he saw the mast of a boat. He ripped off his shirt and waved it wildly.

    « Mac! It’s a boat! They see us! »

A smaller boat soon ferried them to a larger vessel. As Ponson climbed the rope ladder, he noticed something that stopped him cold.

The name painted on the hull of the boat was « Second Chance. »

Soon there was a churning sound overhead. He felt grateful as he watched his older friend lifted by a medivac helicopter, to be rushed to a hospital.

A short while later, the Second Chance boat pulled up to the dock in New Orleans — where another surprise awaited.

Dancing in circles on the pier was Booga — alive.

Still, the best surprise was yet to come.

Standing quietly on the dock, tears on her face, was Shannon.

The couple embraced tightly. Ponson knew exactly what he was going to say.

It had come to mind the moment he saw the name of that boat, right after he’d asked for a « second chance. »

« God wants me to say this. Will you marry me? »

Shannon’s face filled with joy, « Yes. »

« One condition, » he added breathlessly. « Let’s do it right away. Will you marry me on Easter Sunday? »

Tears filled her eyes. « Yes and yes. »

Days later at a New Orleans wedding chapel — with Mac, in a wheelchair, as best man — and Booga serving as « best dog » — the couple said their vows and began a brand-new chapter in their lives.

Within weeks, Ponson augmented his tasks as a fishing boat captain with a part-time job at Celebration Church in New Orleans.

To this day, as a street preacher, he shares his testimony.

  • Illegal migrant charged in deadly 124 mph chase that killed pregnant teen, unborn child

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced Saturday an immigration detainer has been lodged against an illegal immigrant accused of leading Ohio deputies on a high-speed chase that ended in a crash killing a pregnant 17-year-old girl and her unborn child, and injuring another woman.

Tarsem Singh, an Indian national, was recently indicted on vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter and reckless homicide charges, according to DHS.

He is being held on a $1 million bond, and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged an arrest detainer with Ohio authorities.

The fatal Feb. 16 chase was initiated after a Darke County Sheriff’s Office deputy noticed an SUV driving nearly 25 mph over the speed limit.

‘VIRGINIA FATHER’ CHARGED WITH MURDERING INFANT DAUGHTER IS ILLEGAL ALIEN, SAYS DHS

Officials said the deputy attempted to catch up to the SUV, allegedly driven by Singh, and paced the vehicle at 100 mph.

As the deputy activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, the SUV sped away, driving roughly five miles at speeds reaching 124 mph before crashing into an eastbound vehicle on a curve, according to the sheriff’s office.

The deputy immediately notified dispatch of the crash and checked for injuries, finding pregnant 17-year-old Ashlee Holmes, Singh’s passenger, dead after being ejected from the vehicle, local outlet WDTN reported.

EXCLUSIVE: ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT RELEASED UNDER BIDEN ‘CATCH-AND-RELEASE’ ALLEGEDLY KILLS DRIVER IN POLICE CHASE

Singh was taken by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital.

The female driver of the eastbound vehicle was conscious and alert with injuries, and taken to Union City to Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officials said the pursuit lasted less than three minutes from the time it was initiated until the crash.

It is unclear why Holmes was in Singh’s vehicle.

« This is yet another tragic reminder of why illegal aliens should not be driving cars on America’s roads, » DHS acting assistant secretary Lauren Bis wrote in a statement. « A 17-year-old woman and her unborn child are now dead as a result of this illegal alien’s reckless actions. »

Singh allegedly entered the country illegally in February 2017 through the southern border in California and was arrested before being ordered released by a judge on bond.

Bis said the newly filed ICE detainer was lodged against Singh to ensure he is « never released and allowed back behind the wheel to put more innocent lives at risk. »

  • Michigan routs Arizona to advance to men’s national championship, will take on UConn

The Michigan Wolverines men’s basketball team will return to the national championship for the first time since 2018 after a rout of the Arizona Wildcats, 91-73, in the Final Four.

Michigan jumped out to a 16-point lead midway through the first half and never had to look back from there. The high-percentage shooting from Aday Mara and Elliott Cadeau’s ability to knock down the long-range shot was more than enough for the Wolverines to get the win.

Wolverines star Yaxel Lendeborg was saddled with two fouls early in the first half and then suffered a tough-looking ankle injury during the period to keep him on the bench. He started the second half and hit two 3-pointers before he called it a night.

He looked as though he was struggling with the pain. He managed to score 11 points, including three 3-pointers in 14 minutes of play. As he struggled, Trey McKenney stepped up big time.

McKenney was hot from long range. He finished with 16 points on 4-of-6 from 3-point range.

Mara led Michigan with 26 points and nine rebounds. Cadeau had 13 points and 10 assists.

UCONN’S UNDEFEATED SEASON CRUMBLES AS SOUTH CAROLINA GETS SWEET REVENGE AGAINST REIGNING CHAMPS

Arizona was unable to find its rhythm throughout the night, and the continued missed shots sucked the air out of the building. The Wildcats only shot 37% from the floor.

Wildcats freshman Koa Peat scored 16 points to lead the team. He also had six rebounds.

Brayden Burries and Jaden Bradley each had 13 points. Motiejus Krivas had 11 points.

Michigan lost in the 2018 national championship to Jay Wright’s Villanova squad. Their appearance in the Final Four on Saturday night was their third since 1993. The team last won a national championship in 1989 when Glen Rice and the Wolverines knocked off Seton Hall in overtime.

The Wolverines will take on the UConn Huskies in the national championship game on Monday night. The Huskies defeated the Illinois Fighting Illini to receive the opportunity at the title.

If UConn wins, it will be the Huskies’ third title in four years.

  • DHS slams Democrat Sen Chris Van Hollen claim, says illegal alien caused crash while fleeing ICE

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Saturday pushed back on claims by Sen. Chris Van Hollen, D-Md., that ICE agents struck an « asylum seeker, » saying the man is an illegal immigrant who caused a crash while trying to evade arrest.

DHS told Fox News that the man in question is a Honduran illegal immigrant with a final order of removal dating back to 2018.

According to DHS, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers attempted to arrest the individual, identified as Ever Omar Alvarenga-Rios, on Thursday in Baltimore, but he allegedly tried to evade arrest.

When officers conducted a vehicle stop, Alvarenga allegedly failed to comply with law enforcement and « drove recklessly » through the city, DHS said.

DHS SAYS ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT INJURED HEAD AFTER HITTING CONCRETE WALL WHILE FLEEING ICE, DENIES BEATING CLAIMS

DHS claimed that Alvarenga then « slammed on his brakes, » causing a multi-vehicle crash.

He then attempted to flee on foot and ignored law enforcement commands, DHS said, adding that ICE officers « followed their training and used the minimum amount of force necessary to make the arrest. »

DHS said the two officers involved in the incident were injured and taken to the hospital.

DHS SAYS ICE AGENTS RAMMED BY VEHICLES AMID MINNEAPOLIS ENFORCEMENT SURGE: ‘AGGRESSIVELY ASSAULTED’

« This illegal alien broke our laws, resisted arrest, sent two ICE law enforcement officers to the hospital, and endangered the general public. Thankfully both our officers are expected to make a full recovery, » DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis said in a statement.

« This dangerous attempt to resist arrest comes after sanctuary politicians have encouraged illegal aliens to evade arrest by hosting webinars instructing illegal aliens how to avoid being caught. Sanctuary politicians must stop encouraging this reckless behavior that endangers illegal aliens, our officers, and the public, » she added.

Van Hollen on Saturday posted photos on social media of the man in a hospital bed, describing him as an « asylum seeker » who was rear-ended by an ICE vehicle while driving to work Thursday in Baltimore.

According to Van Hollen, the man suffered « significant injuries to his head, chest, back and hands. »

The Maryland Democrat also said the man was detained and claimed ICE was violating his rights by denying him access to attorneys.

In a statement to Fox News Digital, Van Hollen said that ICE under the Trump administration « continues to prevent Ever Alvarenga from meeting with attorneys while in the hospital — preventing them from receiving full updates on his health condition or discussing his case so that the full set of facts can come to light. »

« They have also blocked him from signing a privacy release so my office can make further inquiries. No matter what the Trump Administration says, the Constitution applies to everyone in the United States, » Van Hollen added. « Mr. Alvarenga has a right to due process and full access to his legal representation. By standing in the way, it looks like the Administration has something to hide. »

  • Paul McCartney says he found freedom after Beatles split through late wife Linda’s unique personal philosophy

Paul McCartney is opening up about how his wife helped him deal with the breakup of The Beatles.

In the documentary, « Paul McCartney: Man on the Run, » director Morgan Neville spoke with the 83-year-old musician about his life after The Beatles, and how a mantra he learned from his late wife, Linda McCartney, helped him cope, teaching him « not to be too uptight. »

« In a situation like that you lost your job, you can get uptight very easily, » he said. « One of my favorite expressions of hers was, you’d be saying, ‘Oh, I don’t know. I’d love to do so and so, but I can’t. I can’t,’ and she’d say, ‘it’s allowed.’ It’s like all the weight just went off. It’s allowed. Yeah, of course it is. So those kind of things really impressed me and I think probably made me think a lot more was allowed than was. »

Linda and Paul met in 1967, while she was working as a photographer, and were married two years later in March 1969. Throughout their marriage, the two welcomed three children: Mary, Stella and James.

PAUL MCCARTNEY REVEALS EXPLOSIVE ‘F— YOU, JOHN’ MOMENT AFTER BEATLES LAWSUIT

In the documentary, Paul called Linda « a freeing influence, » saying that while she grew up in a « posh » area of New York and « was on track to become the sort of company wife, » that’s not what she wanted.

« She liked rock and roll, and she would do things like sneak out of the house late at night to and drive into New York with a boyfriend, » he said. « So there was a lot of freedom in her thinking, so I think that’s really was good for me. »

A few years after The Beatles broke up, Paul formed the band Wings, with Linda joining full-time as a keyboardist and also providing vocals.

PAUL MCCARTNEY SAYS YOKO ONO CLAIMED JOHN LENNON ‘MIGHT HAVE BEEN GAY’ AFTER HIS DEATH

Wings went on to become one of the biggest bands of the 1970s, with hits like « Band on the Run, » « Live and Let Die » and « My Love, » and two Grammy Award wins.

When thinking about that time, Paul says when he listens to the music and hears « these beautiful harmonies coming from Linda, » he still stands in awe of her talent.

« I think wait a minute there was no auto tune. We didn’t have any of…that’s real, » he said. « She hadn’t had any lessons and it was just a love of singing. I liked her voice. Her style was not operatic. It was not blues. »

Paul and Linda were married for nearly 30 years before her death in 1998 at the age of 58, following a battle with breast cancer.

During an interview with BBC Radio Scotland’s Ricky Ross Meets Paul shared that following her death, « I think I cried for about a year on and off. »

« You expect to see them walk in, this person you love, because you are so used to them, » he said. « I cried a lot. It was almost embarrassing except it seemed the only thing to do. »

The couple’s eldest daughter, Mary, followed in her mother’s footsteps, growing up to be a photographer. Their middle child, Stella, famously went on to become a fashion designer, calling herself « one of the first nepo-babies » in an interview with Time in 2023.

Their son James is now a musician, having partnered with his father’s former bandmate, John Lennon’s son, Sean Lennon to write the 2024 song, « Primrose Hill. »

  • LeBron James reiterates displeasure playing in Memphis, Milwaukee; adds Cleveland to list

LeBron James on Saturday doubled down on his comments about his dislike for playing in the cities of Memphis and Milwaukee, and threw Cleveland into the mix as well.

The Los Angeles Lakers star appeared on « Bob Does Sports » and criticized Memphis. He said the league would be better off if the team moved to Nashville – a city that already has the NFL’s Tennessee Titans and the NHL’s Nashville Predators playing there with hopes of a future MLB team.

He also appeared to take issue with playing on a « random f—ing Tuesday in Milwaukee. »

James received backlash on social media for his remarks and was asked about his comments during practice.

« Milwaukee was, too. Did they miss that one, too? They didn’t see that? » he said when asked about the Memphis remarks, via The Athletic. « Forty-one years old. It’s two cities I do not like playing in right now. That’s Milwaukee, and that’s Memphis. What is the problem?

« I don’t like going home either. S—, and I’m from there. People are ridiculous. They also get mad at my son (Bronny) being on the team, too. So what are we talking about? People need to figure out other ways to put their energy to other things that’s important. Like seriously? I’m not talking about the city, like the people in Memphis. I don’t like staying at the Hyatt Centric. What’s wrong with that? Nothing. What are we talking about? What are we talking about? People need to chill the hell out. »

« I can say from my own perspective that I have the complete opposite — 180-degree perspective on that, » Iisalo said. « The Memphis where we have arrived less than two years ago has been very warm. Very welcoming. »

Rajakovic suggested he didn’t really care about what other people said about the city.

  • World Series-winning manager gets emotional after learning on live TV his team will retire his number

The Chicago White Sox have not been doing much winning in recent years, but one of their better moments came on Friday afternoon.

  • IRGC’s ‘larger than normal’ presence poses challenge in search for missing F-15E crew member, expert warns

A counterterrorism expert warned that a large Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) presence in the region of the F-15E fighter jet crash could complicate search and rescue efforts for the missing U.S. crew member.

Jim Hanson, a chief strategist at the Middle East Forum who served in the U.S. Army Special Forces, joined « Fox & Friends Weekend » to explain what the mission may look like.

Khuzestan Province, where the fighter jet crashed, is home to Arab tribes who oppose the central Iranian government. While that could help the stranded airman, it also means the IRGC is present to suppress opposition.

« The IRGC and Basij have a larger-than-normal presence there to go ahead and tamp [local tribes] down when they do protest, » Hanson said.

NEW IRANIAN SUPREME LEADER ‘LIKELY DISFIGURED,’ HEGSETH SAYS

« The regime also has as many of their people in play as possible, and we need to hope that the people who dislike the regime are helping, not hurting, » he added.

Hanson said he believes the downed airman will likely try to get out of the flatlands and find cover in terrain that is more difficult for the IRGC to access. He noted that while the strategy makes it more difficult for the U.S. to locate the missing crew member, it provides safety benefits.

« You don’t want a bunch of Basij or other regime troops riding around in pickup trucks, able to easily get to him, » Hanson said.

PRESIDENT TRUMP’S NEW IRAN OPTION: USS TRIPOLI READY TO STRIKE FAST, HARD

He described the mission as a « balancing act, » saying that military officials are weighing how many additional troops to deploy to the area to find the downed airman without those forces becoming targets themselves.

SECOND US FIGHTER JET DOWNED BY STRAIT OF HORMUZ AS SEARCH FOR F-15E CREW MEMBER IN IRAN CONTINUES

Retired Air Force Brigadier General John Teichert, a former F-15E combat pilot, said that while the environment is dangerous, the silence from the ground may be a good sign.

« While there is a little bit of concern about the duration of time since they got shot down, I actually think it’s net favorable because they’re falling back on their training, » Teichert said.

« They’ve found a good place that clearly has indicated they haven’t been captured by the adversary. And now the forces are just trying to find the right time and the right way based on the terrain and disposition of enemy forces to rescue our downed crew member, » he added.

Two airmen were involved in the F-15E crash, one of whom was rescued Friday. The IRGC and Iranian state media have claimed responsibility for downing the jet.

  • JONATHAN TURLEY: Kamala Harris backs radical plan to block Trump SCOTUS picks

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is rallying Democratic donors to oppose  « additional justices » that might be nominated by President Donald Trump « before they happen. » Harris is heralding the fundraising by Josh Orton, president of the dark-money group « Demand Justice » (made infamous for its campaign to push Justice Stephen Breyer to resign). Demand Justice has pushed a radical agenda, including court packing.

In a post on X, Harris highlighted a New York Times article on the « liberal organization » « preparing a multimillion–dollar effort to oppose potential Trump Supreme Court appointees before they happen. »

Orton announced that « the project would cost $3 million to start and $15 million more if vacancies occurred. » The group expressly cited the possibility of Justices Clarence Thomas (77) and Samuel Alito (76) retiring.

Harris pushed people to contribute, posting that :

BLACKBURN DEMANDS INVESTIGATION INTO JUSTICE JACKSON OVER GRAMMY APPEARANCE APPLAUDING ANTI-ICE RHETORIC

« We must be clear eyed about what is at stake with the Supreme Court right now. We cannot allow Donald Trump to hand pick one, if not two, additional justices. The nation’s highest court must be stopped from becoming even more beholden to him. »

Harris reportedly supports court packing and could use radical groups like Demand Justice to push through an expansion of the Court to produce an immediate liberal majority if Democrats take power.

Harris is right about one thing. This is a clear-eyed, remorseless strategy on the left to remove an obstacle to an equally radical agenda.

JUSTICE JACKSON SPARKS ONLINE UPROAR AFTER LINKING BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP TO STEALING A WALLET IN JAPAN

Years ago, Harvard professor Michael Klarman laid out a radical agenda to change the system to guarantee Republicans « will never win another election. » However, he warned that « the Supreme Court could strike down everything I just described. » Therefore, the court must be packed in advance to allow these changes to occur.

Likewise, Democratic strategist James Carville explained how this process of how the pack-to-power plan would work:

« I’m going to tell you what’s going to happen. A Democrat is going to be elected in 2028. You know that. I know that. The Democratic president is going to announce a special transition advisory committee on the reform of the Supreme Court. They’re going to recommend that the number of Supreme Court justices go from nine to 13. That’s going to happen, people. »

FORMER ATTORNEY GENERAL ERIC HOLDER CALLS ON DEMOCRATS TO FOCUS ON SUPREME COURT EXPANSION, TERM LIMITS

The rhetoric for this renewed push for court packing and war chests on the left remains entirely unconnected to the actual record of conservatives on the Court, who have been repeatedly attacked by President Trump for voting against major cases by the Administration. From the tariffs decision to the expected birthright citizenship ruling, the conservative justices have routinely voted against the Administration.

Moreover, the vast majority of opinions on the Court remain unanimous or nearly unanimous. The ideological split on the Court is only present in relatively few cases each term. While those cases admittedly have significant impacts, this is not a rigidly or robotically divided court in most cases. Indeed, liberal justices have pushed back on the left calling for court packing or describing the Court as conservative or ideological.

Yet, Harris continues to rally donors and voters with claims of an « activist » court.

JONATHAN TURLEY: JUSTICE JACKSON PLAYS PUNDIT TO DISMAY OF SCOTUS COLLEAGUES

What is most striking about the « clear-eyed » leadership of Harris is that her model for a new justice appears to be the only Biden nominee, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. Both conservative and liberal justices have publicly criticized Jackson in past opinions. Jackson has lashed out at her colleagues while adopting analysis that would effectively gut areas like First Amendment jurisprudence.

Many of us have found Jackson’s opinions to be unnerving and unhinged. However, liberal groups and Harris would like to replicate her approach to jurisprudence — suggesting not only a packed court but one populated by unrestrained jurists.

For her part, Justice Jackson shocked many by effectively endorsing Harris in her presidential run. Jackson publicly praised her nomination on ABC’s The View as « historic » and something that « gives a lot of people hope. »

With the millions being raised and radical groups positioning themselves for a court-packing push, there are many who see a second Harris nomination as a cause for « hope. » For the rest of us, it is not just « clear-eyed » but unblinking dread at what could await this country if this strategy succeeds in the coming years.

  • TANVI RATNA: Iran war isn’t a distraction from America’s problems, it’s where they lead

Americans are asking a simple question: why focus on Iran when we have a crisis at home? It sounds reasonable. Immigration is strained. Fraud is rising. Enforcement systems are under pressure. Why escalate overseas?

Because the premise behind that question is wrong. It assumes the problems are separate. They are not. We already accept this in one part of the world. Violence and cartel control in Central America push migration directly to the U.S. border. When those systems stabilize, migration drops. Foreign instability does not stay foreign. It shows up here. The same thing is now happening through a different corridor, one most Americans have never been asked to look at.

Start with the map. The Iran warIran war is no longer confined to the Persian Gulf. Tehran has signaled it can open a second front at the Bab el Mandeb Strait. Most Americans have never heard of it. But they know the Red Sea. They know Saudi Arabia. They know the Suez Canal.

Bab el Mandeb sits at the other end of that same waterway, where ships leave the Red Sea and enter the Indian Ocean. It is not Iranian territory. It lies between Yemen, where Iran backed Houthi forces operate, and the Horn of Africa. That is exactly why it matters.

REP SETH MOULTON: AMERICA DESERVES BETTER THAN TRUMP’S VAGUE IRAN WAR PLANS

Iran does not need to control the strait. Through the Houthis, it can threaten traffic moving through it. That allows Tehran to pressure two global chokepoints at once, Hormuz and Bab el Mandeb, forcing energy markets, shipping routes, and military deployments to react.

But the real story is not the water. It is the land on the other side. Across from Yemen sits a fractured corridor in East Africa that has been quietly reorganizing for years. Somaliland, a breakaway region, has become a strategic node. The UAE has built up the Port of Berbera. Ethiopia secured long term coastal access in 2024. In December 2025, Israel became the first country to recognize Somaliland.

That recognition was not symbolic. It opened the door to a new alignment, ports, logistics, and potentially military positioning along one of the world’s most critical trade routes. On the other side sits Somalia’s central government, backed in different ways by Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, all wary of fragmentation and external control.

TRUMP RATES MACRON ‘AN 8’ AS FRANCE AND US SPLIT OVER MIDDLE EAST STRATEGY

Now add pressure. Saudi Arabia needs U.S. and Israeli cooperation to counter Iran and Houthi threats in the Red Sea. At the same time, it is trying to block the UAE from building a chain of ports and proxies stretching from Yemen to Somaliland. That is the bind. Support the coalition against Iran, and you risk enabling a new regional order that sidelines you. Resist it, and you weaken the response to Iran.

The Red Sea is no longer just a shipping lane. It has become a convergence point, war, Gulf rivalry, and fears of fragmentation all sitting on the same corridor.

If Somaliland becomes a staging ground for Israeli or Emirati operations, and if recognition spreads, this does not stay local. It becomes a new flashpoint across Africa and the Gulf.

WHY TRUMP, IRAN SEEM LIGHT-YEARS APART ON ANY POSSIBLE DEAL TO END THE WAR

You may not know it, but it is also closely linked to a flashpoint at home. The same Somali region at the center of this contest is directly connected to the United States through migration and diaspora networks, especially in Minnesota and Michigan. Those connections are not theoretical.

In late 2025, ICE launched Operation Metro Surge, targeting Somali heavy neighborhoods in Minneapolis and expanding into other cities, including parts of Michigan. At the same time, Temporary Protected Status for Somalis was ended.

Alongside enforcement came something else. A massive fraud system.

ONE AMERICAN’S DETENTION IN LEBANON EXPOSED A TRUTH THAT IS NOW DEVASTATING AN ENTIRE COUNTRY

The Feeding Our Future case exposed roughly $250 million in fraudulent claims. Broader investigations into Medicaid and social service programs have examined billions more, with estimates suggesting the scale of fraud could reach into the billions.

    Then came the escalation.

Reports and investigations began raising the possibility that some of those funds moved through informal transfer networks into Somalia, and potentially toward al Shabaab. Al Shabaab is not a local gang. It is a Somalia based Islamist militant group affiliated with al Qaeda, seeking to unify Somali regions under a fundamentalist state.

WHY TRUMP’S WAR SPEECH FAILED: DECLARING VICTORY BUT STILL BOMBING IRAN BACK TO THE ‘STONE AGES’

Whether U.S. funds reached that network is still under investigation. But the fact that the question is now being asked is the shift. What was treated as a domestic fraud issue is now being viewed through a national security lens. There is also a political layer.

In January 2024, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., told a Somali audience in Minneapolis that « Somalia is one… our lands are indivisible, » and that the United States « will do what we tell them » on Somali territorial issues, explicitly opposing the Ethiopia Somaliland deal.

That is not an isolated statement. It reflects a real alignment, diaspora politics tied to territorial disputes that now sit inside a live geopolitical conflict.

IRAN WAR JEOPARDIZES TRUMP ECONOMIC BOOM BEFORE KEY MIDTERM ELECTIONS

Put the pieces together. A maritime chokepoint under pressure from Iranian proxies. A contested African corridor being reshaped by Gulf states, Israel, and regional actors. A diaspora network embedded inside the United States. And domestic systems, immigration enforcement, fraud networks, political alignments, already under strain.

The Iran war did not create these systems. But it is now activating them. The same corridor emerging as a second front in the Iran conflict runs through a region tied directly into American communities, financial flows, and political dynamics.

This is not a distraction from America’s problems. It is where those problems lead. If the United States treats foreign conflict and domestic instability as separate, it will keep reacting at the point of breakdown, at the border, in the courts, in local politics, while the system driving those pressures continues to build. The Iran war breaks the back of that nexus for the Middle East.

This article is a Fox News Digital exclusive from the author’s Substack series on different theaters President Trump is realigning with the Iran War.

  • Trump says ‘America needs God’ in Good Friday message touting ‘resurgence of religion’

President Donald Trump delivered a Good Friday message from the Resolute Desk celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ while declaring that religion is experiencing a « resurgence » across the United States in his second term.

« As I have often said, to be a great nation, you must have religion, and you must have God, » Trump said.

The president framed his message with faith as a central pillar of American strength, pointing to what he described as a broader cultural shift toward religion.

The video, shared via Truth Social on Good Friday, honored the Christian faith tradition and what he claims is a renewal of religion in the United States.

TRUMP ADMIN ISSUES NEW GUIDANCE TO PROTECT RELIGIOUS EXPRESSION ACROSS FEDERAL WORKFORCE

President Trump has often recalled his Presbyterian upbringing, attending Sunday school. He has previously credited his faith to his devout Scottish mother and a « very strong » but « great-hearted » father in remarks at the 2024 National Faith Summit.

« In churches across the nation on Sunday, the pews will be fuller, younger and more faithful than they have at any time in many, many years, » Trump said. « Religion is growing again in our country for the first time in decades.«

The president has invited prayer and faith back into the public square with both an America 250 prayer initiative and the establishment of the White House Faith Office early in his second term.

TRUMP TO SPEAK AT MUSEUM OF THE BIBLE ON RELIGIOUS LIBERTY IN EDUCATION

Trump said he’s « proud to join with Christians » during Holy Week in his address.

« This Holy Week, I’m proud to join with Christians across the country and around the world to celebrate the most glorious miracle in all of time — the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, » Trump said.

« In his life, Christ displayed true humility. In His death, He modeled true love. »

The president also invoked scripture in his address, quoting John 3:16.

TARGETED FOR THEIR FAITH OVERSEAS, PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS GET A WHITE HOUSE WELCOME UNDER TRUMP

« As it says in Gospel of John, for God so loved the world that He gave His only son, for whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life, » Trump said.

President Trump’s outspoken approach to the Christian holiday serves as a foil to his predecessor. Former President Joe Biden most recently shared a brief three-paragraph statement during his tenure to celebrate the season in 2024.

Trump has been more candid in his approach to his faith since he survived an assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July 2024.

« I believe that my life was saved that day in Butler for a very good reason, » he declared during his address to a joint session of Congress in 2025. « I was saved by God to make America great again. I believe that. »

The president ended his remarks by wishing everyone a blessed holiday.

« Happy Easter to all. May God bless you. May God bless the United States of America, » Trump concluded.

The White House did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

  • Power 4 college sports conferences react to Trump’s latest executive order

The leaders of college sports’ most powerful conferences quickly aligned behind President Donald Trump’s latest executive order.

Commissioners from the Big Ten, SEC, ACC and Big 12 all released statements on social media Friday evening unanimously thanking Trump for his executive action.

Trump’s EO directs federal agencies to potentially restrict funding for schools violating new, tighter rules on player transfers (limited to one) and eligibility (maximum five years), while curbing pay-for-play booster collectives and protecting women’s and Olympic sports funding.

The conferences struck a consistent tone of appreciation for federal involvement, coupled with a renewed call for Congress to establish national standards governing college athletics, particularly with respect to athlete compensation, employment status and name, image and likeness (NIL) rules.

CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM

Big 10 Commissioner Tony Petitti wrote, « The Big Ten Conference would like to thank President Trump for his leadership and continuing efforts to protect college athletics and joins him in urging Congress to quickly pass legislation addressing the critical issues undermining its long-term stability.

« Consistent with President Trump’s executive order, the bipartisan SCORE Act thoughtfully addresses name, image, and likeness for student-athletes, protecting academic and athletic opportunities provided through women’s and Olympic sports programs, and expands resources to support student-athletes on and off the field.

« We will continue to work with a broad coalition of college sports stakeholders and members of Congress to enact this legislation. »

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey wrote, « The establishment and enforcement of consistent national standards for college athletics remains a top priority, and President Trump’s executive order provides important clarity to help ensure all programs operate under comparable policies.

TUBERVILLE SUGGESTS BILLIONAIRES BUYING COLLEGE PROGRAMS WOULD BE WORSE THAN AN NFL-STYLE TV DEAL

« We are grateful for the President’s leadership and the continued, bipartisan engagement of members of the House and Senate on these key issues.

« We support House of Representatives approval of the SCORE Act and meaningful Senate consideration of similar legislation to preserve academic opportunity for student-athletes and the long-term future of college sports. »

Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark wrote, « Federal action is essential to protect the future of college athletics, and on behalf of the Big 12, we appreciate President Trump’s commitment to advancing a solution. To build on this momentum and provide long-term clarity and stability, Congress must now act.

« The bipartisan SCORE Act offers a comprehensive framework for many of the issues facing our industry, and I look forward to continue working with President Trump and Congress to enact meaningful reforms. »

ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips wrote, « We deeply thank President Trump and his administration’s ongoing commitment to protecting college athletics by issuing today’s executive order. Following the White House’s college sports roundtable, there continues to be significant momentum to preserve the athletic and academic opportunities for the next generation of student-athletes, and we appreciate the efforts.

« We remain optimistic that the SCORE Act, which would provide stability to college sports, will pass the House of Representatives in the near future. »

The executive order « directs Federal agencies to bolster the effectiveness of key college sports rules on transferring, eligibility, and pay-for-play by evaluating whether violations of such rules render a university unfit for Federal grants and contracts. »

It also says that a « five-year participation window » will be enforced, along with « structured transfer rules » and a « banning (of) improper financial arrangements including pay-for-play agreements facilitated by collectives and similar entities. »

Trump’s executive order comes roughly a month after he hosted a roundtable addressing several hot-button issues with notable sports figures and officials.

SCORE ACT RECEIVES SUPPORT FROM OVER 20 CONSERVATIVE GROUPS AS NIL REFORM FIGHT REVS UP

The SCORE Act was at the forefront of the roundtable. It was scheduled to be voted on in December, but the vote was canceled shortly before it was to take place.

The White House endorsed the act, but three Republicans — Byron Donalds of Florida, Scott Perry of Pennsylvania and Chip Roy of Texas — voted with Democrats not to bring the act to the floor. Democrats have largely opposed the bill, urging members of the House to vote against it.

The act would give the NCAA a limited antitrust exemption in hopes of protecting the NCAA from potential lawsuits over eligibility rules and would prohibit athletes from becoming employees of their schools. It prohibits schools from using student fees to fund NIL payments.

The president’s order from July prohibits athletes from receiving pay-to-play payments from third-party sources. However, the order did not impose any restrictions on NIL payments to college athletes by third-party sources. It also demands that schools account for preserving resources for the non-revenue sports.

A month before Trump’s order, a judge approved a settlement between the NCAA, its most powerful conferences and lawyers representing all Division I athletes. The deal means the NCAA will pay close to $2.8 billion in back damages over the next 10 years to college athletes who competed from 2016 to 2025. The settlement also allows college programs to pay athletes directly.

  • Legendary women’s basketball coaches Dawn Staley and Geno Auriemma get into heated shouting match

Friday’s women’s March Madness game between UConn and South Carolina saw an eruption of tempers boiled over as two of the game’s sport’s most legendary coaches got into engaged in a heated sideline confrontation.

UConn’s Geno Auriemma and South Carolina’s Dawn Staley were seen shouting aggressively at each other in the closing moment moments of the game. South Carolina was on the verge of a 62-48 win in the Final Four, when With South Carolina closing in on a 62-48 Final Four win, Auriemma approached Staley, and the exchange began to speak to her aggressively, before the conversation devolved into quickly escalated into a visible shouting match.

Staley addressed the incident in an interview with ESPN immediately afterward.

« I have no idea, but I’m going to let you know this, I’m of integrity. I’m of integrity, » Staley said. « So if I did something wrong to Geno, I had no idea what I did, I guess he thought I didn’t shake his hand at the beginning of the game, I didn’t know, I went down there pregame, shook everybody on his staff’s hand, I don’t know what we came with after the game, but hey sometimes things get heated. We move on. »

Auriemma was seen shaking Staley’s hand in ESPN footage before the game.

Auriemma addressed the incident in the postgame press conference.

« I don’t want what happened there to dampen what we were able to accomplish today, » Staley said.

Meanwhile, Auriemma expressed displeasure with Staley and the referees during an in-game interview on ESPN.

« There were six fouls called that quarter — all of them against us, » Auriemma said on the broadcast. « And they’ve been beating the (expletive) out of our guys down there the entire game. I’m not making excuses, ’cause we haven’t been able to make a shot. But this is ridiculous.

After the game, Auriemma declined to elaborate on the incident.

« I said what I had to say and… nothing… nothing, » he said when asked what happened with Staley, refusing to tell reporters what he said.

« The protocol is, before the game, you meet at halfcourt, anybody ever see that before? The two coaches meet at halfcourt and they shake hands… they announce it on the loud speaker. I waited there for like three minutes. »

Footage of the shouting exchange quickly went viral on social media, with many fans shocked to two of women’s basketball’s most respected figures clash so publicly.

ESPN star Stephen A. Smith blasted Auriemma for the incident in an X post.

« That was some straight B.S. from the GREAT Geno Auriemma. Never — ever — thought I’d see the day when the greatest woman’s college coach in history would go down so CLASSLESSLY!!! Horrible look, and should be called out for it. He got OUTCOACHED, » Smith wrote. « Plain and simple. And gets in her face like she did something wrong to him instead of being gracious. • Astronaut Victor Glover praised for saying moon mission is ‘human history,’ not ‘Black history’

NASA astronaut Victor Glover drew praise on social media after he said his involvement in the Artemis II mission should be seen as part of « human history, » not a racial milestone, as conservatives circulated clips of his remarks ahead of the crew’s Wednesday launch.

The remarks came during a March 29 press event ahead of NASA’s Artemis II mission, which is set to return astronauts to lunar orbit for the first time in decades. The mission has been noted for its historic crew composition, including the first woman and first Black astronaut assigned to a lunar mission.

Glover acknowledged the significance of representation while pointing to a broader aspiration beyond it.

« I live in this dichotomy between happiness that a young woman can look at Christina [Koch] and just physicalize her passion or her interests… and that young, Brown boys and girls can look at me and go, ‘Hey, he looks like me and he’s doing what?’ And that’s great, » he said.

« I love that, but I also hope we are pushing the other direction that one day we don’t have to talk about these firsts — that one day, this is just — listen to this — that this is the human history, » he continued. « It’s about human history. It’s the story of humanity — not Black history, not women’s history — but that it becomes human history. »

Koch said, « If there is something to celebrate, it’s that we are at a time when everyone gets to work equally hard to achieve that dream. »

Hansen added, « This is an acknowledgment that anybody who shows up and is able to contribute something meaningful can be part of this mission. »

Glover also spoke about the personal significance of launch day, describing a tightly scheduled routine leading up to liftoff.

As he described the final hours before liftoff, Glover emphasized how tightly structured launch day is, leaving little room for personal routines but making space for one meaningful moment with his family.

« The bottom line here is that Colorado seems to be unlawfully coopting private attorneys across the state to further its anti-federal sanctuary policies, » Speir told Fox News Digital later Friday.

Attorney and former law professor Matt Barber added on X that the oath the state expects lawyers to take is « indefensible. »

The announcement Barber received read that the Colorado Judicial Department deployed an « updated certification process » as of March 30 to comply with the new law.

« The majority of CCE information remains public; this requirement only impacts access to nonpublic personal identifying information as defined by statute, » the agency said in its new terms, adding that attorneys who choose to decline the agreement must complete a « brief certification » in order to proceed.

« Democrats going back to their Confederacy roots, » another critic quipped, citing a screenshot of the 1956 law outlining « seditious conspiracy » as opposing federal authority by force or « hinder[ing]… execution of any law of the United States. »

  • Left-wing host says AOC uses ‘Trump-like’ attacks on media critics in voting record dispute

Left-wing commentator Ana Kasparian said this week on an episode of « The Young Turks » that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., responded to her social media criticism with personal attacks, following a public exchange on X centered on U.S. policy toward Israel and a reported plot targeting activist Nerdeen Kiswani.

Kasparian framed the response as emblematic of a broader pattern, comparing it to rhetoric often associated with President Donald Trump.

« She did respond to me, and she demonstrated that she does have some Trump-like responses to members of the media who dare challenge her, » Kasparian said.

Kasparian pointed to a post Ocasio-Cortez published on X responding directly to her criticism, where the representative wrote that she had « never » supported the claim and accused Kasparian of lying for attention.

FEDERAL ELECTION COMPLAINT ALLEGES AOC MISUSED CAMPAIGN FUNDS FOR PSYCHIATRIST SERVICES

« I never have. Feel free to continue lying publicly, though. Those checks don’t cash themselves, and you aren’t talented enough to be relevant with the truth, » Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

The exchange began after Ocasio-Cortez issued a statement addressing a reported assassination plot, condemning the incident as political violence and confirming the suspect had been arrested.

« This is a reprehensible act of political violence. There is no place for it in our city nor our country, » Ocasio-Cortez said. « I am thankful Ms. Kiswani is safe and the assailant is under arrest. »

Kasparian said her reply to that post was intentionally sarcastic and aimed at highlighting what she described as inconsistencies in Ocasio-Cortez’s record on funding to Israel.

AOC’S LUXURY SPENDING BINGE IN PUERTO RICO REIGNITES QUESTIONS ABOUT ‘SOCIALIST’ BRAND: ‘PEAK HYPOCRISY’

« You should vote to send Israel more money for weapons, » Kasparian wrote back on X.

Kasparian explained that her criticism stemmed from frustration with Ocasio-Cortez’s broader approach to foreign policy and Democratic Party politics, while addressing Ocasio-Cortez’s accusation that she misrepresented her voting record.

« I’m sick of AOC being incredibly weak on things that she shouldn’t be weak on, » Kasparian said. « If I found that I was wrong… that’s embarrassing, and I want to correct that mistake, but I didn’t make a mistake. She lied. »

Kasparian then cited a 2021 House vote on additional funding for Israel’s Iron Dome system as a key example shaping her view, arguing that pressure from Democratic leadership influenced the outcome of that vote.

« Originally, AOC was on the right side… she was going to vote no, » Kasparian said. « Nancy Pelosi… pressures her to change her vote, and guess what, AOC changed her vote from no to present. »

AOC ACCUSES ISRAEL OF GENOCIDE IN GERMANY WHERE HOLOCAUST WAS LAUNCHED, SPARKING OUTRAGE

Referencing footage from the House floor during the 2021 vote on additional Iron Dome funding, Kasparian described Ocasio-Cortez as visibly emotional after changing her vote from « no » to « present, » a move she argued reflected political pressure from Democratic leadership.

« She’s clearly very visibly upset… she later on confirms that she was in fact tearful and weeping, » Kasparian said.

Kasparian argued that the vote change, which came after initial opposition to the funding, undercut the significance of dissent within the Democratic caucus and reflected a broader willingness to yield to party leadership.

« No one can force you to change your vote, » Kasparian said. « You changed your vote because you got a little bit of pressure, effectively making your vote useless because you voted present. To cave to the likes of Nancy Pelosi shows a devastating level of weakness. »

  • NY prosecutor sidesteps sanctuary law and coordinates ICE arrest of Guatemalan child rape suspect

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. — A suspected child rapist from Guatemala who could have been released without bail under New York law was instead sent to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in a move that skirted the state’s sanctuary policies while keeping him off the streets for months before prosecutors secured an indictment, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

« Two progressive reforms…had to be navigated deftly to hold the defendant responsible for his alleged horrific crimes, » District Attorney Ray Tierney said in a statement.

Due to the state’s controversial policies, prosecutors weren’t even allowed to ask the judge to set cash bail or bond on the initial charge of endangering the welfare of a child, according to the DA’s office.

And because of the state’s 2020 « Protect Our Courts Act, » ICE agents could be subject to prosecution if they arrested the suspect at the courthouse following his no-bail release.

IGNORED ICE DETAINERS ‘PUT LIVES AT RISK,’ DHS SAYS, TARGETING NEWSOM, PRITZKER, HEALEY

« Incredibly, up in Albany right now there are new sanctuary laws currently under consideration that would have prevented us from even talking to federal immigration authorities, » Tierney said. « My message to our state legislators and governor is simple – stop protecting the rights of alleged child rapists at the expense of child victims. »

Carlos Aguilar Reynoso, 27, has now been indicted for the alleged rape of a 5-year-old girl he was supposed to be babysitting while her mother was at work on Feb. 1. Her injuries were severe enough to require surgery, according to prosecutors.

FOLLOW THE FOX TRUE CRIME TEAM ON X

Police arrested Reynoso the next day — before the crime lab finished testing the evidence. So he was initially only charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Tierney’s office and the Suffolk County Police Department found a loophole. They released Reynoso with only a desk appearance ticket, rather than bringing him to court — and that allowed them to coordinate his immediate arrest by ICE for allegedly entering the U.S. illegally.

He was in ICE custody for 11 days while DNA testing was underway. When the results came in, they showed a match between Reynoso and samples collected from the 5-year-old victim, according to Tierney’s office.

It would be more than a month before his March 23 arraignment on five charges, including three felonies: sexual assault of a child, first-degree rape and first-degree sex abuse.

    SEND US A TIP HERE

He remained in ICE custody the whole time.

In a statement, ICE’s New York Enforcement Removal Operations field office director, Kenneth Genalo, said the case shows how Empire State’s sanctuary laws expose helpless victims to « unnecessary harm. »

LISTEN TO THE NEW ‘CRIME & JUSTICE WITH DONNA ROTUNNO’ PODCAST

« Had there not been coordination in this case, this depraved criminal — who brutally terrorized a young child who will forever bear the physical and emotional scars of this violent attack — would be free to harm additional children in our state, » he said in a statement posted to X.

The charges in the indictment rose to a level that allowed the judge to order Reynoso held without bail at the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

« I would also like to commend ICE as a law enforcement partner for preventing this defendant from potentially fleeing these very serious charges, » Tierney said.

Authorities said they declined to release specifics about the case, including where the abuse took place, in order to protect the victim’s identity.

Reynoso is due back in court on April 27.

The DA is also taking a hands-on role in the prosecution of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann and has been a critic of bail rules that he has said allow allegedly dangerous people to go back into the community.

Those include a group accused of dismembering someone and scattering body parts around the town of Babylon in 2024.

  • DHS preps deportation of alleged MS-13 gang member wanted for pastor’s murder in El Salvador

FIRST ON FOX: The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has started the deportation process for an alleged MS-13 gang member from El Salvador who had been released into the United States a decade ago and was considered a « non-criminal » alien despite being wanted for a pastor’s murder in his home country.

Danny Granados-Garcia was arrested by the FBI last month, and Fox News Digital has learned that he is now in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody facing imminent removal.

« Thanks to ICE this MS-13 gang member wanted for murdering a pastor in his home country is off Connecticut streets, » Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis told Fox News Digital. « This is an example of an arrest the media counts as a ‘non-criminal’ because he lacks a rap sheet in the United States. »

FEDERAL OFFICIALS HIGHLIGHT ARRESTS OF MIGRANTS CONVICTED OF ARSON, OTHER CRIMES AS ENFORCEMENT CONTINUES

« This is an insane categorization and just one example of the countless ‘non-criminals’ who are public safety threats that ICE is removing from our communities every single day, » Bis added. « 70% of ICE arrests are of illegal aliens convicted or charged with a crime in the U.S. »

DHS says Granados-Garcia was released by the Obama administration in 2016 near the Rio Grande Valley, Texas Border Patrol Sector. The El Salvadorian national attempted to enter the U.S. claiming he was an unaccompanied minor, despite being over the age of qualification for such status.

ICE officers apprehended Granados-Garcia as part of a focused enforcement operation with multiple agencies conducted in Waterbury, Connecticut, on March 10.

« Danny Antonio Granados-Garcia, a Salvadoran national, was in the U.S. with an active El Salvadorian arrest warrant for aggravated homicide — wanted for the alleged murder of a pastor, » FBI Director Kash Patel wrote on X following the arrest.

DHS told Fox News Digital that the El Salvadorian will remain in ICE custody until he is deported.

AGENCY THAT NABBED EL CHAPO, DIDDY THREATENED AS DEMOCRATS’ DHS SHUTDOWN DRAGS ON

Despite setbacks from the partial government shutdown and shakeups at DHS which led to the appointment of Secretary Markwayne Mullin, the department has continued its commitment to President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to deport criminal illegal migrants.

Earlier this week, Bis told Fox News Digital that DHS « will continue arresting public safety threats from our communities and will not allow the Democrats to slow us down from making America safe again. »

The partial government shutdown continues, but a bipartisan deal appears close as both the House and Senate look to end what has been a near-50 day battle and the longest partial shutdown in U.S. history.

DHS ARRESTS 5 ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS CONVICTED OF VIOLENT CRIMES INCLUDING MANSLAUGHTER, CHILD ASSAULT

The lack of funding for the department has impacted agencies that operate under DHS, including FEMA, TSA, and the Coast Guard.

This week, FEMA told Fox News Digital that disaster relief funds are « running dangerously low, » and until Trump’s executive order to pay TSA agents, airport security lines faced hours-long wait times with unpaid officers calling out from work.

ICE and immigration agent operations, for the most part, were funded under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which was signed into law by Trump last July.

Debate over funding DHS is mainly centered around ICE operations, with congressional Democrats hesitant to agree to a spending bill without reforms for the agency, like federal agents having to show ID, obtain warrants and remove face coverings.

  • Why Trump’s war speech failed: Declaring victory but still bombing Iran back to the ‘Stone Ages’

There was something about President Trump’s prime-time address that didn’t add up.

    Several things, actually.

But what struck me immediately was his low-energy delivery. He backed into it, first talking about the Artemis moon mission and then the oil we’re seizing from Venezuela. After that he was just reading words off the prompter.

No one could argue with the president’s core message. Iran is the world’s leading terror state. Something should have been done during its 47-year history of violence and murderous proxies like Hamas. Iran can never be allowed to have a nuclear weapon. The dictators killed 45,000 of their own people (though Trump played this down when he was trying to negotiate a deal).

TRUMP LASHES OUT AT ‘SICK’ IRANIAN LEADERS, CONFIRMS ESTIMATED TIMELINE FOR ENDING WAR

But the 19-minute speech was a jumble of contradictions. Trump kept saying we’ve won, we’ve decimated Iran’s military, which is true. And yet he said the U.S. will intensify its bombing campaign for the next two to three weeks, targeting Tehran’s energy facilities.

Why is that necessary, if America has already won? And will it really last less than a month?

It was clear heading into the speech that Trump knows how unpopular the war is. He knows that soaring gas prices are hurting him at home. He knows he is dropping like a rock with young men who bought his no-foreign-wars rhetoric.

MORNING GLORY: PRESIDENT TRUMP’S BIG SPEECH ON IRAN — WHAT WILL IT DO?

He knows – and this is critical – the stock market has tanked since U.S. and Israeli warplanes attacked Iran on the last day of February. Trump is extremely sensitive to the market, as we saw when the Dow hit 50,000, and that often spurs him into action.

Having boxed himself into a corner with an Iranian regime that refuses to seriously negotiate, the public expectation was that he would declare victory and get out. But that didn’t happen. Instead, Trump declared he’ll be bombing Iran back to the « Stone Ages. »

What about the president’s own goals?

FORMER REP. MTG VENTS THAT SHE’S ‘SO BEYOND DONE,’ CHARACTERIZING TRUMP’S ADDRESS AS ‘WAR WAR WAR’

He said the war’s goal was never regime change. But he spoke about regime change the morning after the initial attack. In any event, Trump now claims it’s been achieved because several levels of leadership, starting with the Ayatollah, have been killed,

But the new sheriff in town, the Iranian parliament speaker, Mohammad Ghalibaf, lashed out yesterday.

« When it comes to defending our homeland, » he said in a posting, « each and every one of us will become a soldier of this country. If you look askance at our mother’s house … you’re up against the whole family, all of us. Armed, ready, and standing. Come on in, we’re waiting. »

ROGAN, DAVE SMITH SPEAK ABOUT HOW TRUMP’S IRAN WAR BROKE HIS COALITION, COULD HAND COUNTRY RIGHT BACK TO DEMS

    So much for regime change.

Again and again, Trump said the war could not end until Iran stopped blockading a fifth of the world’s oil traffic at the Strait of Hormuz. But in Wednesday night’s speech, he washed his hands of the matter. We don’t rely on the strait, so who cares? It will « open up naturally, » on its own.

The president then scolded our onetime European allies, saying they should show some « delayed courage » and « just take » Hormuz–as if it were that easy.

TRUMP’S IRAN STRATEGY SHOWCASES ‘DOCTRINE OF UNPREDICTABILITY’ AMID STRIKE THREATS AND SUDDEN PAUSE

As for Trump’s declaration that our country is now « free of the specter of nuclear blackmail, » Iran still has nearly 1,000 pounds of highly enriched uranium–and further enrichment could lead to a nuclear weapon.

In a CNN poll released just before the speech, 66 percent of those surveyed said they strongly or somewhat disapprove of the decision to attack Iran, a 7-point jump since the conflict began.

Most network pundits criticized the address as a rehash of things that Trump has said before.

POLL POSITION: WHERE TRUMP STANDS AMONG AMERICANS AS HE FACES THE NATION IN PRIMETIME

« There was nothing new in that speech, » said ABC’s Jonathan Karl, adding: « Not a lot of optimism. »

His colleague Martha Raddatz: « It added to the confusion of why we are there. »

European leaders felt blindsided by the war. « When we’re serious, » said French President Emmanuel Macron, « we don’t say the opposite of what we said the day before every day, and maybe one shouldn’t speak every day, »

Austria and Switzerland yesterday joined Italy, Spain and France in banning U.S. warplanes headed for Iran from their skies. They don’t want any part of this war. Britain’s prime minister had done the same but reversed himself after Iran retaliated.

In the first sign of intensified bombing yesterday, Iranian authorities said an airstrike had destroyed a Tehran research facility called the Pasteur Institute.

I don’t know if the timing was deliberate, the day after the speech, but the president dramatically changed the subject yesterday.

The media are already moving on to Trump’s decision yesterday to fire Pam Bondi as attorney general, because she hasn’t been aggressive enough in prosecuting his political enemies, and for her mishandling of the Epstein files.

In the end, the speech may matter less than what happens for the rest of April.

If Trump ends the assault on the timeline he’s suggested, voters may breathe a sigh of relief and move on. They’ll remember that Trump went after the Mideast terrorists and be mollified if gas prices start declining.

The problem is that the damage to the world economy may be far more painful, and much longer lasting, than if the president had not launched his war of choice. And no single speech could change that.

  • Karoline Leavitt reveals ‘anti-climatic’ way Trump told her she’d be press secretary: ‘Oh, by the way’

There was no formal meeting and no big announcement, just a brief phone call.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump informed her she had the job in a simple post-election call, telling her: « Oh, by the way, you know, you’re going to be the White House press secretary, right? »

Speaking at a Turning Point USA event at George Washington University on Thursday evening, Leavitt described the moment as « the most anti-climatic thing ever » and said the job offer came without any formal process.

« About a week after the election, we were on the phone about something, the president and me, just chit chatting, » Leavitt said.

KAROLINE LEAVITT STOPS BY ‘RUTHLESS’ TO TOUT TRUMP’S ‘INCREDIBLE’ FIRST SIX MONTHS OF SECOND TERM

« And it was the most anti-climatic thing ever. He goes, ‘Oh, by the way, you know, you’re going to be the White House press secretary, right?’ » Leavitt said, to which she responded, « Oh, okay. »

« And he said, ‘So about that other thing, what do you think about that? What should we do? What should we say?’ »

« That was it. That’s how I got the job, » she said.

Leavitt added there was « no pomp and circumstance, » describing the moment as « true Donald Trump fashion. »

Leavitt said she had worked on Trump’s 2024 campaign after losing her congressional race in New Hampshire and was serving as a spokesperson before being tapped for the role following the election.

    « There really wasn’t a process, » Leavitt said. « I thought, I hope I’ll get a job. I don’t know if I will. »

Leavitt, who gave birth to her son in July 2024, is currently nine months pregnant with a girl.

  • Trump slaps up to 100% tariff on some brand-name drug imports in major America First push

President Donald Trump on Thursday proclaimed that certain imported patented pharmaceuticals and related ingredients could face tariffs of up to 100%, framing the move as a national security measure and intensifying his push to bring drug manufacturing back to the United States.

The proclamation creates a tiered system for drugmakers: companies with Commerce Department-approved plans to onshore production could face a 20% tariff instead, while some firms that strike pricing and manufacturing agreements with the administration could receive zero-tariff treatment for a period.

A senior administration official said the policy amounts to a « 100% tax » on drugs produced abroad.

Trump’s proclamation states that imported pharmaceuticals and key ingredients « are being imported into the United States in such quantities and under such circumstances as to threaten to impair the national security of the United States. »

TRUMP’S NEW TARIFF PLAN BARRELS BACK TO COURT FOLLOWING MULTISTATE LAWSUIT

The move sets up a major clash over the cost and supply of brand-name medicines, as Trump argues the U.S. is overly dependent on foreign pharmaceutical manufacturing while offering lower tariffs to companies that build in America.

According to the proclamation, about 53% of patented pharmaceutical products distributed in the U.S. are produced abroad, while only 15% of patented active pharmaceutical ingredients by volume are made domestically.

VOTERS REACT AS TRUMP TOUTS SIGNATURE TARIFF PLAN AT STATE OF THE UNION

Under the framework, imports of patented pharmaceuticals listed in Annex I will face a 100% tariff, unless they qualify for lower rates.

Companies with approved onshoring plans can instead receive a 20% tariff, though that rate rises to 100% in 2030, according to the proclamation.

The administration is using that structure to push companies to shift production to the United States, officials said.

TRUMP RAISES GLOBAL TARIFF TO 15%

The proclamation also sets lower tariff rates for certain allies: 15% for products from Japan, the European Union (EU), South Korea, and Switzerland, and 10% for the United Kingdom (UK), which could fall to zero under a future agreement.

It also creates a zero-tariff lane for companies that both onshore production and enter « Most-Favored-Nation » pricing agreements with the administration.

Not all drugs are affected. The proclamation says generic pharmaceuticals will not be subject to tariffs « at this time, » and U.S.-origin drugs are also excluded.

The broader push ties into the administration’s TrumpRx initiative, including the recently launched TrumpRx.gov platform, which the White House says gives Americans access to lower prices on some high-cost brand-name drugs through « Most-Favored-Nation » pricing agreements with pharmaceutical companies.

The tariffs will take effect July 31, 2026, for some companies and Sept. 29, 2026, for others, according to the proclamation.

Trump issued the order under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962, which allows the president to restrict imports deemed a national security threat.
